Hello. I know I'm the nominator of the said AFD, but it doesn't seem right that the AFD was closed as soft delete just one day after it was relisted. Would it be possible to reopen the nomination for one more week? Deleting the article just one day after relisting doesn't feel right, even if it was as a soft delete. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 11:28, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
- Reverted. Seems like I didn't notice that tiny date of the last relist. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 15:28, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
Deletion
Here [1] the draft was always part of the nom to delete. Do you think the voters want the draft saved? Legacypac (talk) 10:20, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

Crisis of liberalism
Hello Jo-Jo Eumerus, I'd like to work on the article and improve so that it's approved by Wikipedia. I missed the discussion and didn't know how to participate in it. I am going to recreate the page and make changes to satisfy previous concerns. Please let me know how to improve the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Viazomyk (talk • contribs) 10:40, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- Greetings, @Viazomyk:. According to the discussion, it seems like that article was never an actual topic. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 10:50, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
Question
Not being familiar with the WP:AIV process, I don't completely understand your response. As I said, this user has engaged in persistent vandalism and disruptive editing. Should I be making this report on some other page? If so, please can you advise me as to which one? With thanks in advance, Pdfpdf (talk) 11:06, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Pdfpdf: Well, the issue is that you reported the user 4 days after their last vandalism. At AIV we usually action ongoing disruption. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 11:09, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- Yes. (I don't edit every day.) Should I be making this report on some other page? If so, please can you advise me as to which one? Pdfpdf (talk) 11:11, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- Normally, I'd say WP:ANI, but the best response here would probably be to monitor the user and if they resume vandalizing going to AIV again. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 11:16, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- I fear that your suggestion is not likely to achieve an outcome. The user has been vandalising the page as "Eddiebow" since 14 May, and almost certainly as "2a02:c7d:4e58:ea00:75f9:5dfc:2787:95fd" and similar IP addresses since 10 April. Like me, he doesn't edit every day. I monitor the page, but I don't edit every day. Could I bother you to look at https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=List_of_former_Special_Air_Service_personnel&action=history? and perhaps suggest a course of action more likely to result in an outcome? Again, thanks in advance. Pdfpdf (talk) 11:27, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
- Thing is, I don't know much about that topic. So ANI it would be, again. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 11:39, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

DYK for Pirgel
On 5 June 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Pirgel, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Pirgel is the highest mud volcano in Iran? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Pirgel. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Pirgel), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- You can see new files on Special:NewFiles. You can now pick which dates you want to see files from. [2]
- When you read Wikipedia on a mobile device the first paragraph now comes before the infobox. [3]
- You can now remove navigation elements from your results when you search. This could for example be part of an infobox that is only there to help you find the previous or next article. [4]
- New users on Wikivoyages and Wikipedias (except French, English and German) now get a notification when a page they created is connected to Wikidata. Other wikis will get it 13 June. [5]
Problems
- The MediaWiki version from two weeks ago was rolled back. It was fixed late last week. Changes that were planned to go out last week did not happen. [6]
Changes this week
- Wikimedia wikis can show fewer links to articles in other languages. This is to make it easier to find the languages likely to be useful to the reader or editor. Everyone can still click to see the full list. Logged-in users who use the compact language links will see languages they have in their Babel box on their user page in the first, shorter list. You can turn the compact language list off or on in your preferences. [7]
- You can choose what dates to look at when you look at a user's contributions. [8]
- When you click on your watchlist in the mobile view you get a list of all pages in the watchlist instead of the latest changes to them. Logged-in users with at least ten edits will now get the latest changes instead. [9]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 6 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 7 June. It will be on all wikis from 8 June (calendar).
- String comparisons in Scribunto modules are now always done case-insensitively by byte order. Before they were sometimes in a case-sensitive US-English collation order. This could break some modules. [10]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 6 June at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The 2006 wikitext editor will be removed the week of 27 June. This is the old toolbar with small square blue buttons. You can see a picture of it. 0.03% of active Wikimedia editors use this old tool. They will not see a toolbar at all. [11][12]
- Wikimedia wikis use OCG to create PDFs. The OCG code has a lot of problems and will stop working. It has to be replaced. An alternative is Electron. You can tell the developers what you need the PDF service to be able to do. Electron already works on German Wikipedia. It will be on English Wikipedia later this week so you can test it there too. [13]
- The Architecture Committee will change and get a new name. You can read and comment on the draft that describes the new committee.

Per this, and the short thread above, may want to take have a gander at Crisis of liberalism... you know... with your magic mop goggles. TimothyJosephWood 19:11, 5 June 2017 (UTC)

File:The-Reason-for-God-book-cover.jpeg
I got a message saying that there's a better version of this book at Wikimedia Commons. I agree. But I'm not sure how to adjust it - should I just delete this file and will the Infobox in The_Reason_For_God then use the commons version? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidfraser (talk • contribs)
- @Davidfraser: If the file is deleted, the Commons file will automatically display. You may want to comment in the deletion discussion, though. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 15:01, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

- Thanks for the notifier, but seeing as I was only commenting on a policy question, I have no opinion on the other things. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 14:51, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
could you please explain...
You deleted Russian Intercepts on Michael Flynn. By deleting it, rather than turning it into a redirect, as several people suggested, in the AFD, you have guaranteed that no one, except a fellow administrator, can re-use any references in the article. By deleting it you prevent anyone but a fellow administrator from merging any material it contains into a stronger, related article.
Can I ask why you didn't close this AFD as redirect? Geo Swan (talk) 20:41, 7 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Geo Swan: The "delete" !vote was clearly preponderant here and nobody had suggested a redirect. Moreover, there isn't anything special about the references ... all of them news sources that can be easily tracked down and sort-of compound the WP:NOTNEWS issue that some !voters described. Recent changes
- Some wikis have the larger and brighter OOjs UI edit page buttons. When you write an edit summary there you can now see how many bytes you have left before the summary is too long. [15]
- When you search on Wikipedia you can now find pages on other Wikimedia projects that could be relevant. You see them next to the search results. [16]
Changes this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 13 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 14 June. It will be on all wikis from 15 June (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 13 June at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- You will soon be able to get a notification when someone tries to log in to your account. You can test this on the test wiki. This will only work if they fail to log in to your account. [17]
- Wikimedia wikis use OCG to create PDFs. The OCG code has a lot of problems and will stop working. It has to be replaced. An alternative is Electron. You can tell the developers what you need the PDF service to be able to do. Electron now works on all Wikimedia projects. [18]
- Administrators can soon search for deleted page titles and find results that are similar to what they searched for. Today the search only finds pages that are exactly the same as what you search for. This is to make it easier to find pages when you don't know the exact title. Administrators on Arabic, Catalan, English, Persian, German, Italian, Polish, and Russian Wikipedia and on mediawiki.org can test this by adding
&fuzzy=1
to the end of the web address when looking at Special:Undelete. [19][20]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
Hi Jo-Jo
Did you delete Aaron Bastani's page? Did you Also Close Novara Medias Page?
Overturn to Keep This page should be re-opened immediately.
Aaron Bastani has appeared on Sky news multiple times during the run up the United Kingdom general election, 2017. Novara Media has recently hosted Jeremy Corbyn , Paul Mason, Yanis Varoufakis,John McDonnell, Lily Allen, Caroline Lucas, Alex Salmond and more on their various video articles.
They are one of the few media commentators that correctly predicted the results of the election. They are a vital voice for left wing politics which is otherwise ignored by much of mainstream media.

I did not notice that Moglix was nominated for deletion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Moglix (2nd nomination). I would have supported retention with the sources I found at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Moglix. Disneyland Railroad FAC image review
In the image review you started here: Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Disneyland Railroad/archive1, I believe everything is now resolved, but I imagine there needs to be some sort of acknowledgement on your part ("everything's good now", "everything looks good", etc.) on that page to close that portion of the article's FA review. Tristan Prettyman images
Hi Jo-Jo Eumerus. How are you going. Thank you for closing the discussions about File:Tristan Prettyman 5.jpg, 6.jpg and 9.jpg. I just wanted to clarify a little more about the OTRS ticket for these images. The ticket started on 1 June and has involved three OTRS agents including myself. There were 14 files concerned in total with the ticket and some have been approved and others not. With respect to these #5, #6 and #9, there was not enough verifiable information to approve them. In fact, it was necessary for us to request for documents from the user's regional copyright registration authority to prove it. I should have made myself a little clearer at the beginning and written a "Delete" comment but I thought it was important for me to remain neutral and let the info stand for itself, that the licenses "could not be confirmed" by the claims written by the user(s) who started that ticket. Nonetheless, it cannot hurt to have an extra week for them to try and produce those documents to us. I believe the images should be deleted now given the lack of evidence and how long the ticket has lasted, but if you would prefer to stick with what was done and let the di-permission stand for a bit longer then I can accept that. I just thought I would let you know more about this background. Cheers. seb26 (talk) 02:40, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- Greetings, Seb26. I don't think it's strictly necessary to use di-no permission instead of just deleting straightaway, but I saw that you amended your comment on the last file when permission came, so waiting a bit more here made sense. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:12, 30 June 2017 (UTC)
- Fair call, thanks for your consideration. seb26 (talk) 01:12, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
