Jorgen Slots
Hi. You recently closed the request to delete the article for Jørgen Slots. Slots meets the criteria #8 of academic notability as editor in chief of the periodontal journal Periodontology 2000. See here, and he is editor emeritus (scroll to the bottom of the link, please) of the Journal of Periodontal Research (see here. That is enough, it appears, to be notable, but he has also received a national award from the American Academy of Periodontology, along with some of the most famous periodontists to have ever lived (see here) and the Willian Gies Award in 1990 (see here. The battle to delete this was made by people completely unfamiliar with how dental academia works and I feel that this was done too hastily. DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 05:36, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- Greetings. Not being familiar with the topic I am left wondering about whether these journals are
major, well-established academic journal
and whether these awards are "major, prestigious". Also, informing @Alexbrn, Doc James, TheGracefulSlick, and Roxy the dog: about this. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 11:57, 26 July 2017 (UTC)- They are national awards by the academy of the dental specialty in question. How can there be anything more major than that. And as for major and well established, these perio journal are as mainstream as they come -- you can find them both listed here. That's why I'm so bewildered. I ask that the deletion be reversed and that it be suggested that Alexbrn tackle issues other than recommending deletion for articles in dentistry that he is unaware of because they are so highly refined and particular that they appear to the layman as unimportant and non-notable. DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 19:08, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- Seems a bit marginal. The non-stop ad hominem is getting tiresome. Alexbrn (talk) 13:43, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- And your lack of appreciation for what you don't know has already been tiresome for some time. DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 19:08, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- When I weighted in the article had one broken ref that did not support the content in question. You could create a new one and go through AfC Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 14:03, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- Alright, I recommend that the article be re-done in AfC with a bit more focus on proving notability. Also, I do not factor accusations of ignorance against other !voters into my AfD closes and they are improper behaviour besides. Stop them, please. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 19:19, 26 July 2017 (UTC)
- Done -- thanks for the recommendation, and the article is back up. DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 16:19, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
Article writing
Noting here that due to burn-out/exhaustion, I'll not be active in article writing for some time in the future. AfDs and queries thereon as well as routine maintenance on the articles I've written or expanded (including answering to issues in GA nominations) will continue, though. DYK for Hualca Hualca
On 29 July 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Hualca Hualca, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that some inhabitants of the Colca Canyon believe their ancestors came from the Hualca Hualca volcano? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Hualca Hualca. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Hualca Hualca), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Your deletion of the Universal queue article with AFD discussion result MERGE
Hi there, just so you are aware, the result of the discussion was MERGE and you deleted this article, leaving a redirect in its place. That was not the intended action. I have fixed this up. prat (talk) 23:16, 29 July 2017 (UTC)

Deletion of BCMMetrics - How To Restore?
Hello,
You recently deleted the page for BCMMetrics. The article was originally flagged, and I was in the processing of addressing those issues in order to meet Wikipedia's standards, but it was removed. Could you please let me know what needs to be done in order to get this page restored so that I can complete the updates our editor has made?
I appreciate your assistance! GShultis (talk) 12:18, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
- Greetings, @GShultis: It seems like that topic does not have enough reliable in-depth sources that are independent from the topic. You cannot WP:OVERCOME such an issue merely by editing the article. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 17:15, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

Problems
- Some pages show the error
Lua error in mw.wikibase.entity.lua at line 34: The entity data must be a table obtained via mw.wikibase.getEntityObject
. This problem happens on pages with a Lua module that uses Wikidata. The developers are working on fixing the problem. You can fix a page by opening it for editing and then saving without changing anything. [1] - Wikidata and German Wikipedia could not be edited for an hour on 28 July. You can read why and how we could avoid it in the future in the incident report.
Changes later this week
- Some wikis already have the larger and brighter OOjs UI edit page buttons. All remaining wikis except Commons will have these from 1 August. [2]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 1 August. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 2 August. It will be on all wikis from 3 August (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 1 August at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The default font in the edit window will soon change for some users. Instead of using the browser default it will be monospace. Users can change this in their preferences. This should only change this for some users on Macs and iOS devices. [3]

Deletion of TEAMS Design article
I originally wrote the article along with the article on the founder of the VDID in Germany, Dr. Slany. I was working to contact the Esslingen office to try and edit the article accurately when it got deleted. I would appreciate any assistance you could give me on how to reinstate the article and to update it so that it is considered more valuable. I feel it is an important part of Dr. Slany's legacy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Minervaone (talk • contribs) 13:52, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Deletion of BakuBoy & Austin Blake - Ways to Restore?
Hi,
You recently deleted the page for BakuBoy & Austin Blake. I would like kindly know what was the reason for it and how I can restore it? As I know it was met Wikipedia musician criterias because they have release in major label, they did tour and e.t.c. I'm new here don't know so much things so please kindly help me to restore it, would be happy.
Any assistance appreciated. Thanks for your time — Preceding unsigned comment added by Donandres99 (talk • contribs) 13:10, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Did you do some research about musicians before deleting article? They meets major criterias. Please explain regarding this. (@TheMagnificentist, Onel5969, Jo-Jo Eumerus, and MassiveYR:)— Preceding unsigned comment added by Donandres99 (talk • contribs)

Alan Laney
I am requesting that the article [Alan Laney] be Undeleted. It is not unlike multiple other articles of songwriter musicians of similar and lesser note than this artist. I am willing to work on the page as some of the references have been removed from searchable data. I am also questioning why this particular artists career and history page was chosen for deletion over many other similar articles of his peers. Apicker (talk) 14:31, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
- I'd like to see some arguments that the previous undeletion was wrong before undeleting - and what you offered isn't enough. That other articles weren't deleted often means that they are in fact sourceable enough, or maybe they actually aren't but people haven't come across them yet. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 14:34, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
Previously it was deleted stating this writer and artist did not have single releases. This was in error as there have been several songs written by Alan Laney that were released and charted as singles by other artists and the article was edited to include information on some of the singles. The Artist himself had also released some radio singles which I now have information of and can add references. Apicker (talk) 16:01, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
- Releasing music alone does not justify their inclusion. Check WP:NMUSIC for criteria that determine inclusion, especially the point about radio. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:17, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for the suggestion to read WP:NMUSIC. I submit that having an IBMA "Song Of The Year" as finalist amoung other releases by mainstream and international artists qualifies this article [Alan Laney] under the guidelines. Apicker (talk) 16:47, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
- Lessee what @TenPoundHammer, Cllgbksr, Finngall, Toddst1, and Johnpacklambert: have to say. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 17:20, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
- I don't believe IBMA counts as a "major" award per the criteria for songs, songwriters or musicians in WP:NMUSIC, and there's no evidence his contributions to the bluegrass genre meet any of the criteria in the "Others" section therein. I stand by my assessment. --Finngall talk 17:40, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
To counter Finngalls assessment I would point out the 4 page article in "Bluegrass Unlimited" magazine referenced, describing contributions to the bluegrass genre and many off his songs recorded by bluegrass artists by the time of that article. IBMA awards are the mainstay of that international industry. Apicker (talk) 19:22, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
My first question is did the artist receive significant coverage from independent sources that pass WP:GNG muster? Cllgbksr (talk) 21:26, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
- No sources were given that were significant. Also, a check of BMI and other sources found that while Alan Laney has written songs for other artists, either the songs a.) were not singles, or b.) were released by not individually notable artists. Ten Pound Hammer • (What did I screw up now?) 04:11, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
No problem at all with the close (I !voted to delete), but just thought an FYI might be in order; WP:FPL is not really an essay (although it is labelled as such) – WP:NFOOTY (the subject-specific notability guideline for footballers) requires players to have played in a fully-professional league and WP:FPL is a maintained list of leagues that meet this criteria, so it's more of a supporting document. Unfortunately we have one editor who repeatedly tries to emphasise that it's an essay in the hope that people might ignore it. Cheers, Number 57 20:34, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- Well, it is marked as an essay. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 21:52, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, and I said as much, but I was just trying to clarify the situation in case you came across it again. There doesn't seem to be anything classification-wise that it would fall under, at least that I'm aware of. Cheers, Number 57 22:18, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

Recent changes
- You can now see which Wikipedia language versions are read in a specific country. This tool is called Wikipedia Views Visualized. [4]
- The Architecture Committee is now the Wikimedia Technical Committee. You can read the charter. [5]
Problems
- You can get an email when a page on your watchlist was edited. You can choose not to get emails for minor edits. There is a bug that means that you then don't get an email when someone does a normal edit after a minor edit. The developers are working on fixing this. Until it has been fixed you can activate "Email me also for minor edits of pages and files" at the bottom of "User profile" in your preferences if you want to. [6]
- The thanks button sometimes didn't work for mobile users. This was because of a new bug and has now been fixed. [7]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 8 August. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 9 August. It will be on all wikis from 10 August (calendar).
Future changes
- Editors and readers who still use Internet Explorer 8 on Windows XP will not be able to use Wikipedia. Internet Explorer 8 on Windows XP can't connect securely to the wikis. When we allow them to do so it means that we get less security for everyone else. If you use Internet Explorer 8 on Windows XP you can install Firefox 52 ESR instead. Around 0.1% of the traffic to the Wikimedia wikis comes from Internet Explorer 8 on Windows XP. [8]
- Links to sections on Wikipedia don't work well in languages that don't use the Latin script. The URL in the address bar in your browser shows Latin characters like
.D0.A1.D1.81.D1.8B.D0.BB.D0.BA.D0.B8
instead of the section heading in the wiki's language. Links to sections in non-Latin scripts will be in the script of that wiki in the future. This will happen in the next few months. [9][10] - Wiki pages printed by the web browser "Print" function will have an updated style. This new style will be similar to the when you download a page as PDF. It will be better at showing tables, infoboxes and headings. [11][12]

List of songs recorded by Trisha Paytas
Hi, Jo-Jo. Thank you for managing the closing of the AfD. As per the close, I've merged List of songs recorded by Trisha Paytas into Trisha Paytas#Songs. Since I haven't been in a deletion discussion before where the close was to merge, I'm not sure what the next step is. Do we blank List of songs recorded by Trisha Paytas and create a redirect to Trisha Paytas#Songs? And if so, do we do likewise to Talk:List of songs recorded by Trisha Paytas ? Thank you for any help or information. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:53, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
- Greetings, Tenebrae. Yes, one would redirect the pages afterwards. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 22:41, 10 August 2017 (UTC)
Can you please relist this if you do not want to close it out. I don't understand, frankly, why no other editors have bothered to weigh in or express any opinion on this, although I believe my AFD is well-reasoned and should prevail. Yours, Quis separabit? 21:52, 11 August 2017 (UTC)
- Relisted it. Perhaps the topic is just too uninteresting to gather a lot of commentary. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 08:44, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
- I find that a tad hard to believe, given that the Holocaust angle automatically attracts certain editors, not to mention the fact that the article had been around so long without attracting any attention, which is usually of some interest to deletionists, as is the clear COI. If it is generally uninteresting then I don't expect much traffic. Do you care to weigh in and let someone else close? I'd love to get your opinion on the merits of the article itself, the issues I outlined, and the AFD? In any event, thanks for relisting. Quis separabit? 13:32, 12 August 2017 (UTC)

Dear Jo-jo Eumerus,
Greetings.
I noticed that two of my articles have been deleted. And this was done after I have edited the two articles with references. The pages were flagged by (talk to me)and I sent him a message which he did not respond to until now since last month.
Here are the links: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Aderemi_Adegbite and https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/folu_agoi
I am willing to talk about the process of restoring these two pages.

fabric Records and Houndstooth
Hi Jo-Jo,
I'm the head of label for fabric Records and Houndstooth, I hope you're well. Our page for Houndstooth (Record Label) was deleted last year and I hope I can change your mind on the reasons for deleting.
The final comment from MSJapan stated this:
Recheck your assertions. :) The NPR article is four paragraphs, and only mentions the label because they released the song the article is about. The awards are problematic because they're not established music awards - who's "Juno Plus"? Who's "Dummy magazine"? Coming third in a poll isn't winning. Tiny Mix Tapes is a webzine - do we know it's notable, or is it notable because it has a Wikipedia article? Resident Advisor may be RS, but "Label of the Month" means there were 11 others that year. Music-related items are notable because they win industry awards, not niche things like somebody's Top Ten List or a reader's poll. MSJapan (talk) 18:41, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
To clarify some of these points:
Juno Plus was the editorial site for the online retailer Juno, a big retailer in electronic music.
Sites mentioned in an earlier comment including Tiny Mix Tapes, Dummy, XLR8R and Dazed are all significant sites in the Music Industry.
Resident Advisor is the worlds leading electronic music website, with hundreds if not thousands of labels releasing electronic music to be picked as one of the 12 they select each year is a very high honour. Houndstooth received that accolade within it's fist year, something no label has ever done before.
Our sister label fabric Records has it's own Wikipedia entry for it's discography, it's been running since 2001 and is regarded as the leading compilation series in electronic music, also the world renowned fabric night club has it's own page. A number of the artists signed to the label also have their own Wikipedia pages. Houndstooth has now been established for 4 1/2 years during which many of it's signed artists have grown in stature. Snow Ghosts have had music featured in a trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, Special Request's track from his new album is starting to blow up on BBC radio right now, two of many hundreds of examples I could offer.
A reason cited for removal was that Houndstooth was using the page as a promotional vehicle because it listed it's Discography, that format was based on seeing that used on a number of Wikipedia record label pages. Another common format is to list artists signed to the label which we could change to if that is preferred.
In the electronic music world Houndstooth easily has the clout of and surpasses some other labels that have valid and ongoing Wikipedia pages.
Please could you reevaluate the decision so that we can reinstate the page.
Thanks and all the best, Rob Butterworth (Head of Label - fabric Records / Houndstooth) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Butterworthrj (talk • contribs) 09:38, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- Syntax highlighting is now a beta feature on Wikimedia wikis with text written from left to right. It will come to right-to-left wikis later. This beta feature is based on CodeMirror. [22][23]
- You will now get a notification when someone tries to log in to your account and fails. If they try from a device or IP address that have logged in to your account before you will be notified after five failed attempts. You can turn this off or choose to get an email notification in your preferences. You can also turn on to get an email when someone logs in to your account from a new device or IP address. [24]
Problems
- Some pages show the error
Lua error in mw.wikibase.entity.lua at line 34: The entity data must be a table obtained via mw.wikibase.getEntityObject
. This problem happens on pages with a Lua module that use Wikidata. This has now been fixed and no new pages will get this problem. You still need to fix pages that were broken before and still show the error message. You can see how on this page. [25]
Changes later this week
- You can block users from sending you notifications. [26]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 29 August. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 30 August. It will be on all wikis from 31 August (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the Editing team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 29 August at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
- You can join the next meeting with the Technical Committee. The topic this week is Migrate to HTML5 section ids. The meeting will be on 30 August at 21:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- In the future you will have global preferences. This means you could set something in your preferences to work in the same way on all wikis. You will not be forced to use global preferences. The developers are now asking if editors need exceptions. This is where you want to use global settings on almost all wikis, but have some wikis where you want it to work in a different way. If you want this you need to tell the developers now. You can do so on the talk page. [27]
- New filters for edit review is a beta feature to improve recent changes pages. It will work on watchlists from 5 September. [28]
- The jQuery library will be upgraded to version 3 in September 2017. Wikis can ask on Phabricator to get it early, so they can help find and solve problems now.
