Hi

You maybe interested to know that the article 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' has recently been nominated as a candidate to become a featured article. Should it become a featured article, it will be possible for the article to appear on the Wikipedia main page on March 10th 2007, the 10th anniversary of Buffy (the premiere, "Welcome to the Hellmouth" aired March 10th 1997).

Any feedback you can offer to improve the article and/or to either object or support the nomination, would be wonderful. Thanks -- Paxomen 18:23, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed you voted at Talk:Buffy the Vampire Slayer, however I didn't make it clear that to officially support/object the article, you need to do it at this page: Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Thanks -- Paxomen 18:07, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Buffy nomination restarted: Since you have were involved with discussion before at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Buffy the Vampire Slayer, you might appreciate knowing that the nomination for the Buffy article has been restared at the same wiki page. I am letting everyone know who might not be aware (whether they were for or against the article becoming featured). Cheers -- Buffyverse 22:36, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent contribution(s) to Wikipedia are very much appreciated. However, you did not provide references or sources for your information. Keeping Wikipedia accurate and verifiable is very important, and as you might be aware there is currently a drive to improve the quality of Wikipedia by encouraging editors to cite the sources they used when adding content. If sources are left unreferenced, it may count as original research, which is not allowed. Can you provide in the article specific references to any books, articles, websites or other reliable sources that will allow people to verify the content in the article? You can use a citation method listed at inline citations that best suits each article. Thanks! --Madchester 04:22, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Childish Uncivil Comments

[edit]

At no point was myself or others Uncivil towards you

You lambasted me for "not editing the Heroes page myself." When It was impossible to do so because my registration wasn't complete at that time. You then act as if it's some major inconvenience to add a simple statement. Not civil in the lightest. Really, every heard of glass houses? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.87.64.214 (talk) 07:55, 23 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Please do not continue to breach WP:CIVIL and WP:NPA. What's worse is denying it. 08:08, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Proof? Such as reposting something from my user-page once I've already deleted it? Then there's always the attitude you had all because I asked someone to post a single sentence summary. Are you like this in real life? I pity those around you. 05:29, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Long winded, really. An UNCIVIL attack on the group to point out glaring POV? Hardly. All this just to justify your own uncivil comments is rather a cop out, no? The "de-gaying" is mentioned on the character page, but not on the main site. I find it odd that a controversy is delegated to a sub page (without reference to it on the main article). I guess the sexuality of a character and the rush back into the closet isn't all that newsworthy for you "group" here on wikipedia. 08:20, 27 January 2007 (UTC).

This guy has been blocked for accusing Ryulong of being part of a homophobic cabal. I've alerted the LGBT WikiProject to his planned disruption, who you're still welcome to join btw. ;) Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 07:32, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption offered

[edit]

Hi Jacob

I noticed that you had requested "adoption" by an experienced editor. I've only been "active" here for about 2 months, but I have exceeded 1,000 edits per month so far. I've run afoul of a few policies (a sincere apology and an appeal for clarification goes a long way). From your userboxes, it appears we have a lot in common. Also, given our mutual interest in the WikiProject Mixed Drinks, it would seem we might be a good fit. Let me know. I have to head off to work now, so it will be several hours before I can respond. Take care. --Willscrlt (Talk·Cntrb) 15:56, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is my pleasure to adopt you. Yeah, I may be a bit new to Wikipedia in days, but certainly not in hours spent editing. I'll be the first to admit that I run into new things several times each week, but I think I have a pretty good grip on stuff now. I also am pretty comfortable with WikiComoons and WikiBooks, which each have a different feel and way of doing things. Wikipedia definitely comes across as more "uptight" than the others, but I think it is largely because it is so active and receives so much attention. The pace here is much more frantic, and people seem less patient. I tend to advocate an air of meditative calm before jumping into things with keyboards blazing. That doesn't mean I always succeed in that myself, but I find that when I do, things usually go much more smoothly.
So, what can I help you with? And feel free to e-mail me if its anything you don't want permanently stored in public view here at Wikipedia for eternity. --Willscrlt (Talk·Cntrb) 01:53, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Involvement Opportunity

[edit]

Hi. Philvarner and I have various thoughts on how to restructure the entire mixed drinks and bartending section of Wikipedia, and that also squarely ties in with WikiBooks. Some of these are pretty sweeping changes. You have expressed interest in helping with the WikiProject Mixed Drinks, and your input on this important matter is really important. Please visit the Restructure Section to read, discuss, and hopefully help plan these important changes. Thank you.

On a more personal note, how are things going with you? I haven't heard from you in a while. I hope exams went well (you were taking a break for exams, right, or am I confusing that with someone else?). Take care. --Willscrlt (Talk·Cntrb) 11:23, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

[edit]

Hi, Jacobshaven3, welcome to WikiProject LGBT Studies!

We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles of interest to the LGBT community. Some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve LGBT-related articles, so if someone asks for help with an article, please try your hardest to help them if you are able.
  • Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, peer review and a project-wide article collaboration, all of which you are welcome to take part in. We also have a unique program to improve our lower quality articles, Jumpaclass, so please consider signing up there.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign LGBT topics.
  • If you're planning to stay, have a square in our quilt! You can put anything you want in it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

Your comment on user talk page policy

[edit]

I noticed that you posted a comment on Village Pump about the ambiguous nature of user talk page usage policy. I'm of the opinion that user talk pages are a community resource, especially in the case of vandalism warnings. I'm planning to initiate discussion on the possibility of defining a policy on what is and what is not proper behavior when it comes to deleting vandalism warnings on one's own talk page. Let me know if you are interested in this debate and I'll let you know when it is open for discussion again. -- Mufka (user) (talk) (contribs) 23:56, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Simone is Dead

I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule to head over to the Heroes (TV series) talkpage and give us an honest peer review. The page has gone through some major changes in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor like yourself, could head over and give us at the Heroes Wikiproject some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. We have all worked very hard at improving the page, and we need great outside, reliable and trustworthy users to come over and help us improve. Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians’ reputations

[edit]

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal was to gather feedback to help design a tool that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)

We are particularly interested in feedback from new editors! We want to make sure this tool meets your needs.

Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.

Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.

Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 23:20, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Pride 2014

[edit]

Hi Jacobshaven3. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! --Another Believer (Talk) 15:57, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride!

3.) Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Or, view or update the current list of Tasks. This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
