Blogs[edit]Welcome to my blog . According to the rules of Wikipedia, a user page can be used as a blog, provided it is only a blog on Wikipedia matters. So I shall observe the rules and make this a blog and vent my feelings about Wikipedia, . Writing a blog is a very cathartic experience and I recommend it to everyone. I wish they had smileys and icons on Wikipedia, . I don't know if the typed ones, come out well, I don't think they do. Doesn't matter, I've found out a way of putting real smileys on . My Flock[edit]Wikipedia[edit]
Wikiscanner[edit]To see how easy it is to manipulate Wikipedia, just look here : Wikiscanner Essjay[edit]I will have something to say about Essjay. The more I learn about it, the worse it seems to get. You can see Essjay's fake qualifications here Wikipedia Watch. His fantasy qualifications at Wikia are here | Wikia. His bragging defence is here Essjay profiles and here | Essjay profiles 2. You have to admire the cheek of the man. Essjay's response is here Essjay's response. Note how he libels Stacy Schiff, the idea that a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist would offer him money is completely ridiculous. Note how he simply makes everything worse for himself. Goodness, when you're in a hole, stop digging ! You can read the original New Yorker article and it seems that Daniel Brandt informed the New Yorker about Essjay which led to his unmasking here : New Yorker. It was then picked up by Radar Online. It then seems that a Wikipedian shopped him to Slashdot. After that, the news spread like wildfire throughout the Internet. Daniel Brandt has been pilloried in some quarters of Wikipedia but he really does deserve praise for exposing this fake. How the editors at Encyclopedia Brittanica and Microsoft Encarta must be laughing at Wikipedia ! A guy claims four degrees and his major source of reference is Catholicism for Dummies ? It really gets worse and worse. As for Stacy Schiff, it seems she was as incompetent as Essjay, she was an editor on the supposedly vaunted New Yorker and it took her and them seven months to check their facts ? She should resign too. I shall come back to this when I finish my novel. Articles I have created[edit]My major contribution to Wikipedia is the fact that I created the articles on Barbara Bouchet and Geraldine Newman : Barbara Bouchet is one of the most stunningly beautiful women who has ever lived. Geraldine Newman is a famous British film and television actress. Articles that I have taken to GA Status[edit]
GA Articles Assessed[edit]I am a GA Assessor for Wikipedia and I have assessed the following articles :
Actors and Actresses[edit]I contribute to Wikipedia, mainly, in the areas pertaining to actors and actresses. I have improved, amongst many others, the pages for actresses such as : Deborah Kerr, Shelley Long and Blythe Danner. As for actors, I have improved the pages of, amongst many others, : Yul Brynner, Burt Lancaster and James Coburn. I have found that many of the pages on actors and actresses lack basic features such as an Infobox, Photos and Persondata, which I have subsequently added. Also many articles contain poor grammar, structure and spelling which I remedy whenever I see the faults. Stars[edit]Kathleen Turner[edit]I have improved the article on Kathleen Turner whom I once met live. I have to say I was most disappointed with Kathleen Turner, you'd think a Hollywood star would be glamourous but Kathleen Turner looked like my own mother - not to say, of course, that my mother isn't glamourous . Still, you expect more from a Hollywood Star. Hollywood stars are only glamourous on celluloid, when you meet them, in person, then you realise just how very ordinary they are. Lily Tomlin[edit]Lily Tomlin's bust up with David O. Russell on the set of I Heart Huckabees can be seen here | Carand here Desk. These two videos show how ordinary Hollywood stars really are. Barbara Bouchet[edit]I love Barbara Bouchet, I really do. After I finish my novel, I'll see if I can get a meeting with her. Just to have lunch with her would be divine. The woman is a goddess. Photos[edit]Wikipedia needs a more sensible policy concerning the uploading of photos. Surely, it is better for Wikipedia for articles to contain photos than not ? Photos that have been uploaded to the Internet can fairly be described as being in the public domain and therefore, there should not be any problem in having them on Wikipedia, as well. If a photo only appears on a User page and it has no links to any article on Wikipedia, then it should be allowed and people should be free to have what they want, provided it's not pornographic or racist or offensive but it isn't like that. Wikipedia places tremendous restrictions on photos on user pages so that means I cannot upload any . I think Wikipedia are making a severe mistake because if they let people develop their user pages any way they want then many more would join and Wikipedia could soon be one of the largest online communities on the Internet. Surely, it would not be too difficult to provide a mechanism that allowed people to upload any photos they wanted to their own User Page on the strict proviso that such photos are kept isolated from all the article pages ?. People should be free to share photos on their own User Pages, though. But as I said, Wikipedia doesn't allow it,, at the moment. Still, one can dream and hope . If you agree with me, let Wikipedia know. Featured Picture Of The Day[edit]Although, Wikipedia does not allow you to upload your own photos onto your own blog, it does allow you to show the daily featured photo, which is good as I was thinking of ways to brighten up my blog. Having the daily featured photo is something, at least. Featured Article of the Day[edit]I'm also using the daily article, at least it gives me one of the more interesting blogs on Wikipedia, , or do I have the only blog on Wikipedia ? . I have been looking at other people's pages and they're full of user boxes but not blogs per se. Perhaps, I'll start a new trend . British[edit]For some reason, the self appointed Wikipedia geeks find the word "British" offensive and scurry around Wikipedia replacing "British" with "English", "Scottish" and "Welsh". I am beginning to wonder if they follow me around Wikipedia just to replace all the "British" entries I have made. Naturally, I have complained about the denigrating treatment meted out to the word, "British" but the self appointed geeks are confident in their authority so it really is like talking to a brick wall. I just cannot understand what it is about the word "British" that they find so offensive. Needless to say, I am "British" and a very proud "Britisher" at that, . My Future[edit]I shall achieve great things in my life, starting this very year, I shall finish my novel and have it published. One day, in the future, someone shall be writing my article on Wikipedia. N.B. - to all self appointed Wikipedia geeks, when that happens, I want to be known as British . I have contributed quite a lot to Wikipedia in the last two months but now I have to say, not "farewell" but "au revoir" as nothing shall happen in my life until I finish my novel.

Daily Article[edit]American Writers is an 1824–25 work of literary criticism by American writer and critic John Neal (pictured). Published by Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine, it is the first history of American literature and the first substantial work of criticism concerning US authors. Using no reference materials, Neal made incorrect assertions about many of the more than 120 authors covered. Scholars nevertheless praise the staying power of his opinions, many reflected by critics decades later. Neal also argued American literature relied too much on British precedent and had failed to develop its own voice. Neal wrote the series in London under the English pseudonym of "Carter Holmes", which convinced few. American Writers was well received in the UK but drew considerable ire in the US, particularly from William Lloyd Garrison. Neal was met with hostility and a fistfight on an 1827 visit to his hometown of Portland, Maine; he relocated there and remained until his death forty-nine years later. (Full article...)
