I was about to review the article Tyla (South African singer) but it was taken by another user haha :) will review this one instead. Ippantekina (talk) 02:44, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Prose review

[edit]
Why? Ifi may ask. dxneo (talk) 11:31, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Currently no short description is shown in the GAN template. I know shortdesc is auto generated but I'd highly recommend adding it normally in case of technical issues depending on device. Ippantekina (talk) 03:39, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done although I know someone is gonna remove it in a few days. dxneo (talk) 12:54, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's a slow → "It is a slow"
  • "Trust Issues" was one of the four singles taken from Drake's 2011 studio album, Take Care but infobox/lead says otherwise?
That's what the source say, what's your suggestion? dxneo (talk) 11:31, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'd swap "singles" with "tracks". Ippantekina (talk) 03:39, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • On May 20, 2011, he released "Dreams Money Can Buy",[5] followed by "Marvins Room", released on June 9, 2011,[6] and a promotional video for the latter on June 28, 2011.[7] No idea how this fact relates to this article
Background information; how the song, album, and compilation came about. I was worried that I couldn't find any source stating that "Marvins Room" was officially released on June 28, that's why I opted to the promotional video. However, that can be removed. dxneo (talk) 11:31, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Still not convinced.. I'd leave all of this outside the article which concerns one specific song and not other songs. Ippantekina (talk) 03:39, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • is four minutes and 41 seconds long → "4 minutes and 41 seconds long" per MOS:NUMNOTES
  • half confessional, half ode to drank Seriously I have no idea what this means
Honestly, I was following the source and I kind of understand it after listening to the song. Still can be removed. dxneo (talk) 11:31, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You can add quotation marks and attribution. Ippantekina (talk) 03:39, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
 Done dxneo (talk) 12:53, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • it also intensifies to a powerful conclusion as Drake's vocals soar above the energetic arrangement potentially editorializing/POV
Meaning? dxneo (talk) 11:31, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This sounds like an opinion and not an encyclopedic writing. I suggest adding attribution. Ippantekina (talk) 03:39, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
 Done dxneo (talk) 12:52, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Outside North America, it peaked at number 35 in the United Kingdom on the UK R&B Chart,[1] and number 90 on the UK Streaming Chart → "In the United Kingdom, it peaked at number 35 on the UK R&B Chart and number 90 on the UK Streaming Chart".
  • Note b is redundant imo.
  • was supposedly singing about his then-girlfriend Selena Gomez Should be removed per WP:SPECULATION
  • Move "Charts" before "Certifications"
I have addressed all the changes, what's left are those I have individually replied to above. Thank you again for the instructions. dxneo (talk) 11:31, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Responded above! :) Ippantekina (talk) 03:39, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Source review

  • Spotchecks: 2, 14, 19, 29
  • Can you help me explain the reliability of:
    • Singersroom
    • The Edge
    • earmilk

Ippantekina (talk) 03:42, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • singersroom.com HTTPS links HTTP links: is classified as marginally reliable by the Cite Highlighter script and throughout my AfD journey, it was frequently used as a reliable source. It has also been referenced by reliable publications as well.
  • theedgesusu.co.uk HTTPS links HTTP links was never assessed at WP:RS/N, but it referenced over 100 times and on Ye (2018) which is now GA. I think what matters most is the content on the source.
  • earmilk.com HTTPS links HTTP links has been referenced for at least 816 times on Wikipedia
dxneo (talk) 12:52, 15 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Dxneo: I'd like to see more thorough assessment of these sources i.e. editorial oversight, reputation (being used in Metacritic / mentioned by other publications for example). The fact that these sources are used in other GAs is not a strong enough argument. (Singersroom pass this) Ippantekina (talk) 04:36, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Assessing sources is out of my expertise, so I actually do not know where to look for what you are asking of me. At this point, what I can do is try to replace the sources, if possible. dxneo (talk) 10:00, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This was really difficult, but here is earmilk (Earmilk) and here is The Edge (The Edge). dxneo (talk) 12:57, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for addressing everything. Happy to pass this :) Ippantekina (talk) 02:57, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • ... that "Trust Issues" by Drake (pictured) was originally released in 2011 as a free download? Source: Ref: Drake slows down DJ Khaled’s “I’m on One” on “Trust Issues,” another new song released as a free download via his blog.

AirshipJungleman29, will this do? There are plenty of sources on "Trust Issues" and Care Package and that eight year gap. dxneo (talk) 09:59, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, I meant referring to it in the hook. Apologies for the confusion. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 10:03, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you AirshipJungleman29, but unfortunately I don't know how I could squeeze in that "8 year gap" in the hook as I honestly don't see how anyone can miss it even if it's not literally mentioned. Any suggestions please? dxneo (talk) 01:07, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ALT1... that the 2019 single "Trust Issues" by Drake (pictured) was originally released in 2011 as a free download?
How about this? ♠PMC(talk) 00:51, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
ALT1 works for me, but it's not a single. dxneo (talk) 01:00, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not invested either way, change it if you want, but...if it's not a "single", then why is it linked in his singles discography and singles navbox, and charting on singles charts? ♠PMC(talk) 01:06, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

NOT sure what you mean by "singles charts," I just never found a radio date. However, it was initially released as a single, so thanks for the ALT1. dxneo (talk) 02:03, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A bunch of the refs say things like "Official Hip Hop and R&B Singles Chart Top 40" or ""British single certifications – Drake – Trust Issues"." I was speaking to that. ♠PMC(talk) 02:10, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
