Thanks, David. I sort of expected that the whole thing was going to turn into an ignominious shitstorm, but what was I going to do about it? I just ducked my head out once it got really nasty. I've been sleeping most of the day. It's really much healthier that clicking reload on my watchlist, and searching for more supportive or detractive comments. I think I'm going to avoid editing video game articles in the near future. I don't want to be latched into some AFD, FAR, RFC, ANI, ARB affair. I don't want my soul destroyed. For the near future at least, most of my time is going to be spent working on Constantine I and Diocletian, and avoiding the heated debates produced by this sort of material. Thanks again! Using your image from http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Gastornis article

Hi, I just wanted to check that it would be okay for me to use an image which you uploaded to accompany the above referenced article in a book I am currently working on. If so, how would you prefer to be credited? If not, not problem.

thanks for your time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.149.220.27 (talk) 17:56, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

AfD for Gina Cross

You had recently added a prod template to this article. An anonymous IP removed the prod without explanation, but unfortunately we can't reprod the article so I've brought it up for AfD, feel free to join the discussion if you like. Thanks! -- Atamachat 18:27, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Multiple FAC noms

Per the WP:FAC instructions, I'd rather you not put up a second nomination when you have a first that is struggling; it stretches reviewer resources. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:58, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

As I said, I'd rather you submit a second nom once those are resolved. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:08, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

DOTA FAC

OK, I've played DOTA, and like War 3 in general, it's teh suck. That's why I could do with your help - at the FAC some guy is asking for serious expansion, and I'm not sure if we're delving into the unknown/uncertain or not. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Pokemon gb battle.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Pokemon gb battle.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:16, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Halo Movie

Excuse me, why did you delete the halo movie page? I was still working on it and had just gone out to lunch when all of a sudden the page I'd worked 5 hours on had been deleted!!! (Ste900R (talk) 14:23, 15 March 2008 (UTC))

I had no detail about the future, about the plot, about anything to do with crystal balling! I had detail about what the progression of the Halo Movie has been. Wikipedia is about gving strong, hard information and that's what I gave. It doesn't matter if the halo movie doesn't exist or ever will exist that page is about what happened about the Halo Movie while it was still in existance.
You don't get rid of the page about the Cuban Missile Crisis (first thing I could think of) just because it didn't happen, you have a page about it because it might have happened. If this has not convinced you to keep that page up, I don't know what will, but if you find it in your heart to keep it up please send me a message and I'll change it back!
Thanks for you time, (Ste900R (talk) 15:39, 15 March 2008 (UTC))

Golden Sun image

Noticing your removal of that arctic overworld image from Golden Sun, I was wondering if it's better to keep that image and instead remove one of the above gameplay-specific images like the one about the class screen. I think it's more "balanced" image-wise that way, and a shot of the overworld seems pretty informative. Erik Jensen (Appreciate or Laugh At) 02:27, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Halo (series)

I think a gameplay section will be asked for in FAC... take a look at Mana (series), there is now an RTS in that group too, and it also has a gameplay section. In fact, it will be easier to make with Halo, as the RTS will make it so there are fewer things to speak about in terms of gameplay elements found in every game. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas -- GA Sweeps on hold

Hi, I've been making some of the fixes you suggested at the talkpage (ie. sources) and another user has removed some of the images, but I think there is a lot more work to be done. I'm not going to be available for the next few days and I don't think anyone else is really working on it, so if you want to go ahead and demote it, that's fine (I don't think it should have been given GA status in the first place, anyway). I'll continue working on it when I get back, and hopefully get it to GA then. Cheers. Dbam Talk/Contributions 12:53, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

PSP FAC

I just wanted to thank you a lot for taking the time to look over PlayStation Portable. I guess I hadn't looked over the article as thoroughly as I should have before sending it to FAC. (I'm still kicking myself about the lack of a Reception section, I just can't believe I didn't put that in.) Anyway, I addressed some of the issues you raised and hopefully I will be able to complete the other issues later today. (I'm not sure if I'll have time to finish it today.) In any case, after I address your concerns, I will go over the article with a fine-toothed comb and hopefully squash any other potential problems with it. (Sometimes I wonder if staring at the same piece of text for a long period of time makes you blind to its errors, because now that I think of it, I did kind of the same thing with the refs in PlayStation 3 didn't I?) So yeah, thanks again, and my apologies for sending an article in that state to FAC. Regards. Thingg 16:00, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Bungie images

Sounds good. If they didn't say no outright it means they are probably thinking about it which is very good. At first I read your message (to me) as you resenting the message I sent which had me baffled. Anyway, I hope we can get at least a few screenshots out of this, the best situation would be the same as Ubisoft. I suppose it means my messages were lost in their inboxes or something instead of just being ignored. Good luck negotiating and keep me posted! James086Talk | Email 02:45, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Spyro FAC

Wow... who would have thought a Spyro game would go to FAC? ;-). Don't worry about the expansions too much—a little expansion is something I'd like to see, but it doesn't stop it meeting the criteria. One thing: is PSXEtreme supposed to be written like that, or is it a typo? Anyway, nice work on the article. Thanks. Ashnard Talk Contribs 21:03, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

Image:Golden sun cast.png

Hey, I see you uploaded a new image! Great! I do have one concern, however. Even if you did make it smaller than the original version, I don't think its small enough. Preferably, the length should be at most smaller than ~420-440 pixels. Its currently 500. Could you possibly make it a tad smaller? Thanks, --haha169 (talk) 04:53, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh, and btw, great work on formatting the citations in List of characters in Golden Sun! There's been many issues with that. (I created all those refs, since the article was lacking, but I only know reference templates at a basic level) --haha169 (talk) 04:56, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Opinion on some other fictional species

Since you have worked on the articles for the various Halo species, I was hoping you could give me some pointers for redoing the articles for the StarCraft species. None of the four species or the article on psionic technology exhibit independent notability, but they can when put together. My problem there though is that I feel uncomfortable with the article I wrote for merging the species, seen here. I'm considering packing that article in and starting afresh, and as you've got more experience in dealing with these sorts of articles, I'd like to know what sort of structure you'd take if you were doing it. The current one just doesn't do it for me. I'm thinking that a modified version of the structure used in Elite (Halo) would work, with attributes and appearances sections for all three species but general design and reception sections at either end. -- Sabre (talk) 09:48, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

I've redone the Protoss section of the article with a new structure, taking into advice your advice of sacrificing plot detail for clarity. How does it read now? I personally feel far more confident with it as it is now, rather than how it was before. -- Sabre (talk) 19:06, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
I've done all the text side of it now (just need references), and although the reception section's not brilliant, I'm much happier with how it feels. Does it look reasonable to you? Eight months of working on it, and I tear it up to start again and finish it within a week... -- Sabre (talk) 16:17, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Redirect of Forerunner (Halo)

Hi, I was wondering what your rationale was for redirecting Forerunner (Halo) to Factions of Halo. I can't find any discussion about the matter, was it discussed at all? The Forerunner article seemed like it had enough content to stand on its own. --clpo13(talk) 17:13, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't think to check discussion at the project page. --clpo13(talk) 19:51, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi David. I have opened up a peer review for Ninja Gaiden (2004 video game). I would like to invite you to share your knowledge of FA-articles to help improve this article (and you come highly recommended). :-) Thank you. Jappalang (talk) 00:39, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Flood and emails

Ok I added the image to the Flood article and removed the image of an infected brute. I'll browse the net (it will probably turn up in someone's fileshare) for an image containing all members of the flood family (except the big one of course). I wonder if Luke Smith remembered your request. He probably reads hundreds of emails/messages each day so one would be hard to remember. Perhaps a gentle prod would help get things moving again. All I found: 3/31/08: Halo: Contact Harvest Joseph Staten, read by Holter Graham and Jen Taylor. Macmillan Audio, unabridged, 10 CDs, 11 hrs., $39.95 ISBN 978-1-4272-0249-9 The battle for humanity continues in this latest addition to the bestselling franchise based on the mega-popular video games. Narration is split between Holter Graham and Jen Taylor, who each try their very best to make the material as urgent and important as possible. However, as good as Graham is, pushing the line between corny and downright brilliant in his delivery, Taylor jumps far over the believability line, overemphasizing every word as if the audience is incapable of understanding what she's trying to say. Her cheesy dialects and over-the-top accents detract from the tension and suspense that Graham offers. Simultaneous release with the Tor hardcover. (Feb.) Pepso2 (talk) 16:27, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: Timeline

I'll try. I've already updated it with info from Contact Harvest, the HGN, Uprising, Halo Wars aaaand some info from previous media which have been forgotten. My schedule is pretty full right now, but I'll definitely get to it sometime. Or at least inform someone else to do it. You know ... you could do it too if you want. All you have to do is email me an MS Word file where you've written the important events that occurred during Halo 3, and I'll update the Timeline afterwards. (However, grammatical correctness and proper formating is required LOL ! :P) --UNSC Trooper (talk) 15:49, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Re:Species

Aye, so do I. No doubt there will be the usual "how dare you redirect my precious article" backlash from the fans, but I can hopefully fend them off. However, judging by what happened when I completed Characters of StarCraft, I wouldn't be suprised to see it sitting in the good article nominations within the near future. The amount of redirects I've had to go through to (for five articles...) to prevent double redirecting though was ridiculous... every unit and concept in the game that once had an article: that's at least 120 links. -- Sabre (talk) 11:44, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

By the way, on another topic, is there any way I rename and move images easily? The articles all have the "move" tab, but what about images? I'd really like to get Category: StarCraft media in order. -- Sabre (talk) 11:54, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Upload them under new names, then tell me which ones you don't need any more, and I'll delete the old ones. I don't think you can actually move images. JACOPLANE • 2008-04-9 11:59
Listen to the man... unfortunately you can't move the images (or categories, though you can rename the latter, I think.) It'll give you time to sort through all the junk images you don't need now. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 14:20, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Forerunner (Halo) artical

Sorry to bother you, but I've only just completed Halo 3 and thought I would look up the Forerunner artical to see if humanity really are part of the the Forerunners, but the whole artical seems to have dissappeared and is now part of the Factions of Halo. I'm sure that there was a lot of detail on the Forerunners, more then that one paragraph, so I was wondering if you knew why it was merged. I can't seem to find anything on the various disscussion pages. Wild ste (talk) 12:31, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

4X Peer Review

A few weeks ago, you expressed some interest in peer reviewing the 4X article... I figure you're busy, but I figured I'd mention it again anyway. I'd like to see another video game genre article reach GA status. It would help if a reputable opinion could give us the bold instruction we need to get there, and break out of the comfortable consensus that we have now. Randomran (talk) 14:46, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I would like to know why you reverted my edit. Megata Sanshiro (talk) 20:20, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Mmh, I think the references do support my edit. The first reference has a link on its first page which says "This list is for the U.S market only". The second reference says that it covers "Japanese total sales". So we have data that cover the US and Japan. However, Igordebraga combined the two numbers together and wrote in the article that the game "eventually went on to sell over one million copies internationally" and "has sold approximately 1.07 million units". That's incorrect because the game was released in Canada and PAL regions too, so you can't just combine the sales for US and Japan together and say that you have the worldwide sale figure. You're still missing Canada and the PAL regions. I corrected the article to reflect that. If it's not correct grammatically feel free to fix the sentence, but it's not incorrect in terms of information. Megata Sanshiro (talk) 21:45, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Species of StarCraft GAN?

Its been recommended that I contact you regarding feasibility for Species of StarCraft at GAN. Someoneanother has exhibited potential concern that the upcoming SC2 may hinder its progress at GAN, although I haven't had any problems with Sarah Kerrigan or Characters of StarCraft when they went through the GAN process. You did recommend that it could be worth holding off FAC until after release though. I'm liable to submit it to GAN anyway, but would SC2 being in development affect the article's chances at GAN? --Sabre (talk) 21:07, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

That's just it, we don't know when SC2 is going to be released. Its unlikely to be anytime soon, and could take another few years: Blizzard have the ever popular "when its done" for its release date. Since its not going to appear anytime soon, I might as well push on: I'll stay off FAC until the game is released, but it shouldn't be allowed impact GA much provided that the information is updated and integrated properly as quickly as possible. I really don't want to be holding back work on the basis of a product that is not likely to be released anytime soon, and although a healthy stream of information is coming from it, it is unclear when the release will happen. The actual nature of the information is not going to change that drastically, very little of the (quite extensive) SC2 information released thus far majorly affects the norm for a lot of the articles, its simply a few plot revelations here and there, or some development information. The overall composition of the races has not been significantly changed, nor have the characters. Sarah Kerrigan passed its GAN fine, and has the facility for easy expansion with new SC2 information. At least SC2's development doesn't significantly affect the product articles, such as Brood War and Ghost. -- Sabre (talk) 13:17, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
To draw a parallel, Covenant (Halo) is a GA, but is sustainable at that status even with Halo Wars on the horizon, again for an unknown release, a game which I'd imagine is going to affect the content of the article. -- Sabre (talk) 13:27, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
