RFC
[edit]Are you planning on doing anything with your sandbox RFC on me? If not, would you please remove it? There is no need for something like that to be sitting around for 6+ months, especially when it totally and completely skews situations unfairly. Thank you, Metros (talk) 17:30, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Smithborough
[edit]Hi English, hope you don't mind but I've declined your speedy deletion nom for Smithborough, its a village in Ireland; what do you think of the article now? ϢereSpielChequers 12:26, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- I've not readded the Speedy Tags, but in the future, once a tag is up, you cannot remove it. Ive orphaned the article and requested it be wikified. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask.--English836 (talk) 12:37, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi English, I think you'll find that any editor can remove or amend a tag except the editor who created the article. May I suggest that next time you tag an article as "a very short article lacking sufficient context to identify the subject of the article" you first check the links - this article already had incoming ones which explained what it was (if you didn't know from the article). - Hey, Sorry i didn't know you were an administrator--English836 (talk) 19:32, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- Not a problem, I'd guessed you assumed I was the author. I do try and give feedback when I decline speedies and checking the links can be a useful way to salvage articles. ϢereSpielChequers 14:22, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:ArlingtonFireDistrictLogo.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:ArlingtonFireDistrictLogo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:33, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

GA Sweeps invitation
[edit]Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are a member of the GA WikiProject. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.
We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Arlington High School
[edit]I have a question about a couple of your edits related to Arlington High School. How is this spam? Nothing is being advertised as far as I can tell. Additionally, what was so wrong about 81.175.83.141's edits that you needed to leave this message? Why would you threaten to revert someone "totally re-working" the article when it was a highly beneficial improvement to the article? What policies did s/he violate that you say s/he did? either way (talk) 21:00, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'd be more than happy to explain s/he 's issues. here s/he blanked an entire section (Campus). Secondly, s /he also changed the sections, switching to bold text. Third, s /he also added a completely unsourced paragraph regarding Marching Band. here s /he also removed a good part of the article, which remained in part of the article for quite some time. Again here s /he created a gallery. As a administrator, you should know Wikipedia is not a collection of images. S /he removed all the images out of the article, and placed them in a useless gallery on the bottom. Enough errors? If you wanna play the anonymous editors advocate fine, but at least review the edits. --English836 (talk) 21:47, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
- The first edit did not remove the campus section. It moved it down in the article. The "bold text" of the section headers were sub headers (== v. === section headers). That's a totally appropriate way to organize articles. As for the marching band paragraph that s/he "added," s/he did not add it. It was already there, the IP just combined several paragraphs that were already in there. The second edit, again, did not remove the information but moved it down in the article. The last one, the gallery, should probably not have been done since it took them out of sections in the article where they would have been within context, but galleries are perfectly acceptable on Wikipedia. So, all these edits are fine and in good faith. Additionally, please don't accuse me of not examining the edits when it is clear that you yourself have not clearly analyzed them. either way (talk) 22:44, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive
[edit]WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of April. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 200. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. Hope we can see you in April. |

AfD nomination of Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps
[edit]An editor has nominated Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps, an article which you have created or worked on, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. either way (talk) 04:19, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
NYCRR Stations
[edit]Hey, my name is Emily... I don't actually log into Wikipedia all that much anymore, but I did to leave a message here on your page... I'm hoping that you still check it! I noticed that you were the person that created most of the station pages for the old Upper Harlem Division. I'm actually looking to go to these old stations shortly. I'm assuming that you added the coordinates, but I am having difficulties in finding some of them, like Craryville. There is a photo there, so the place must still exist, but the coordinates on a map look like it is in the middle of a forest. If you have any thoughts or you think you could help me out, I'd love it if you could email me... info (at) iridetheharlemline.com Emmyceru (talk) 15:22, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)
[edit]The Wikipedia Library gets Wikipedia editors free access to reliable sources that are behind paywalls. Because you are signed on as a medical editor, I thought you'd want to know about our most recent donation from Cochrane Collaboration.
- Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization that conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.
- Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account.
- If you are still active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New deal for page patrollers
[edit]Hi English836,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
