Hello, I would like to inform you about some error in this page (Arman Tsarukyan), the sources of his nationality are reading error. I would like to fix it but I think you would do it better. Thanks. Articlread (talk) 03:48, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
(UPDATE) The bot came to the rescue and did it 2 minutes before I sent to you, nevermind. Stay safe and best. Articlread (talk) 03:53, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Articlread Good day and thank you for the question. I believe THIS bot edit you mentioned. How we get the ref back (usually the bot will do them but not always) is that we go back previous edits to find the removing of the "re-used ref" edit so such we can find the actual full ref - see HERE. If you not familiar with re-used ref then pls read References and citing sources. Actually reading the who page of Help:Wikitext would serves a great help in editing for any editors. Thank you for your contribution to MMA related article. Pop back here if you have any questions regarding editing, creating articles, vandalism, Wikipedia guidelines and etc. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 04:29, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you so much Cassiopeia. I do have a question regarding the system (metric or imperial) we use in fighter articles. Should we change the system used based on the nationality of the fighters, e.g. a Brazilian fighter would have metric in their page instead of the American imperial system. Articlread (talk) 13:28, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
- :Articlread Hi, it does not matter if we use metric or imperial as the info mma fighter template will convert both systems and shown both systems in the infobox - see the full template here - Template:Infobox martial artist. However, since we use Sherdog for the info and Sherdog uses imperial system so often we follow the same. (note: Any info we cant get from Sherdog we need to provide source for verification). Since you in the discussion of Wikipedia MMA project, it will be beneficial for you the project guidelines - see here Wikipedia:WikiProject Mixed martial arts and add your name on "Participants List" if you want to and place of MMA editor user box on your talk page (see Userbox section) if you choose to do that. I will send you a list of MMA editing info and norm on your talk page, so pls kindly go through them and re-read it if needed. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 03:48, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
Conor McGregor method
Hey brother, I that it would change the method lastest fight of Cornor against Dustin Poirier and method per Sherdog that a TKO (leg injury) but the page that doctor stoppage. AddedUpdatePoster (talk) 12:53, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- AddedUpdatePoster Good day and thank you for the message. As per Sherdog - see HERE is "TKO (Leg Injury)" so all UFC 264 and Conor's articles follow the same fight method. (Diamond's article is as per Sherdog). Thank you for your time and efforts to improve Wikipedia MMA related articles. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk

Problems
- Between 2 April and 8 April, on wikis using Flagged Revisions, the "Reverted" tag was not applied to undone edits. In addition, page moves, protections and imports were not autoreviewed. This problem is now fixed. [1][2]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 16 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 17 April. It will be on all wikis from 18 April (calendar). [3][4]
- Default category sort keys will now affect categories added by templates placed in footnotes. Previously footnotes used the page title as the default sort key even if a different default sort key was specified (category-specific sort keys already worked). [5]
- A new variable
page_last_edit_age
will be added to abuse filters. It tells how many seconds ago the last edit to a page was made. [6]
Future changes
- Volunteer developers are kindly asked to update the code of their tools and features to handle temporary accounts. Learn more.
- Four database fields will be removed from database replicas (including Quarry). This affects only the
abuse_filter
andabuse_filter_history
tables. Some queries might need to be updated. [7]

Name Translation
Hi, just wondering why I need a source for the Japanese name for Tatsuro Taira when there already is a Japanese wikipedia page for him that shows it. Creatorial (talk) 18:14, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Creatorial and Nswix: Looped in user NSwix here. Good day and thank you for the question. I have answered your questions at [Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mixed martial arts#Nickname translations|Nickname translations]] for the above question. Since you are here, I would like to let you know that many of your edits regarding the subject full names have been reverted by User Nswix due to WP:BLPPRIMARY guidelines. I strongly suggest you to read the guidelines so you edits wont be reverted or in long run warning messages will placed in your talk page. If after you have read it and still need help to explain the guidelines, pls pop back here and for I am always here to help. Thank you for your contribution and stay safe. Cassiopeia talk 02:38, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- I actually have been going through and reverting the ones from government sources. Creatorial uses non-BLPPRIMARY sources, as far as I know. Nswix (talk) 02:50, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- Nswix Thanks for comment here. I have seen some primary source from Creatorial in the pass. Since they are here, I just mentioned it. Since you are here, thank you so much of your contribution and spending so much time to improve MMA related articles and being just a helpful, polite editor. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 02:55, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah the government/Nevada State of Athletic Commission sources that Nswix removed were not put there by me. I've made sure to follow WP:BLPPRIMARY guidlines with my all my sources. Not sure which primary sources I used in the past but my apologies. Thanks. Creatorial (talk) 03:27, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Creatorial: Ok. Thank for informing. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 03:30, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Creatorial: Saw your edit on Tatsuro Taira page. Pls note UFC is not a reliable or independent source (they are private company). Also are also social media sites. ESPN has contract with UFC so that makes ESPN not independent. Pls find other independent, reliable sources such as from newspapers, reliable MMA sites or books for that matter to replace the UFC source. Thank you. Cassiopeia talk 03:53, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- I just changed it and put an independent source. Thank you. Creatorial (talk) 04:01, 17 April 2024 (UTC)

TWA not working
It seems TWA is glitching. It asks me to log in (I am) then when I click "I'm logged in" it does nothing. Can I do your AFC/NPP review course instead? Thanks --- thetechie@enwiki: ~/talk/ $ 18:48, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- TheTechie TWA does not work well with mobile sometime, but laptop/desk top is always good. Try again with laptop, if you still find it hard to get it start up, then I will let you some (no all since I dont remember all the info and questions of the program) in summaries. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 23:13, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- I am on laptop when I tried. Seems to be a bug. No buttons work at that screen, not "login", not "sign up", not "logged in". Also tested the buttons logged out and they do nothing. But if it's fine with you, I'd like to do CVU and AFC/NPP, if it isn't too much of a hassle. thetechie@enwiki: ~/talk/ $ 23:55, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- TheTechie I will send you the TWA summeries later and set up the CVUA for you. However, NPPS is a lot harder and compressive than CVUA. It is not recommend to take both at the same time. Once you have finished CVUA program and graduated then you can move on to take NPPS. Most ppl finish each program in 3 months; however, there is no time frame to complete the program as each editor take work on the program on their own pace. Pls note that there will be reading (guidelines) material and questions to answer for a total of 10 assignments plus a final exam which means it will take some of your free time to work on the above. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 00:14, 18 April 2024 (UTC)

- I am sorry my English standard does not meet your requirements as English is not my first nor second nor third language. I know 4 languages and I am master of none and in addition I have Irlen syndrome which the texts on print/screen do not appear the same way as my brain process them. By the way, I didnt revert your edits nor offend you. I merely explained the situation as they made a mistake and not you. Cassiopeia talk 13:38, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- @69.159.70.156 Stop attacking other editors. You have been warned on your talk page. thetechie@enwiki: ~/talk/ $ 15:25, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- thetechie@enwiki - Sir - The Colonel has left this office for today to attend to yet another military funeral, however we felt it necessary to respond to you now as per your threat / warning / etc. - Nobody is ' attacking ' any of you so called ' editors '- However, some are plainly and simply not up to snuff - Just read what this Cassiopeia person states / admits right above who does not seem to be anyone Wikipedia would want making remarks or offering opinions on anything whatsoever !!! - Do any of you have any sports or military experience of any kind to be able to properly look over and want things changed in any entries as most people do not ever sensibly want to comment on things out of their sphere - Lastly, please do try to lighten up with so many of you always making threatening responses toward people only trying to help / assist Wikipedia where so many wrong things are often found, much more so now in recent years. - @69.159.70.156: nobody is threatening you. We are advising you that Wikipedia editors, even editors without an account, are required to treat each other with respect. Comments like the one you left above which refer to "so called editors" being "not up to snuff", and editors "not seem[ing] to be anyone Wikipedia would want", are personal attacks, which are not allowed under any circumstances. The notices you received are not threats, they are statements of fact: we would be pleased to discuss the problems you have observed with content in articles, but only if you can do so respectfully and without casting aspersions about the abilities or competence of others. Wikipedia does not require editors to have perfect command of the English language, but we do require editors to treat others with dignity and respect. If you can't, you'll be asked to leave. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 19:12, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- @69.159.70.156: First of all, all of us are volunteers, spending our free time to help Wikipedia project the best we can. We are not the employees of Wikipedia to work on particular articles or areas of work. In addition user thetechie reverted you edit (it is their mistake) was not any about about sport or military knowledge but a copy edit that they reverted your edit from " .....during the 2013 season, but his contract was not renewed for 2014." to "......during the 2013 season, although his contract was not renewed for 2014.". Secondly, no body threatening you but to educate and let you know the situation and the guidelines of Wikipedia. Lastly, comments on the edits and discuss in civil matter and not attacking the editor. If you want to learn the guidelines of Wikipedia, we are happy to work with you but if you continuing attacking me or other editors then you will be blocked. Stay safe and best. Question from Lensandpen (22:00, 19 April 2024)
Hello - I want to add references to existing articles. How do I do that? --Lensandpen (talk) 22:00, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- Lensandpen Good day and thank you for the question. You can use the horizontal format of Template:Citeweb if the sources are from the web and use Template:Citebook if the sources are from the book. I have sent you a welcome message on your talk page, pls read the guidelines (links). If you are interested in editing Wikipedia regularly, then pls take the short WP:TWA program to familiar with some of the fundamental guidelines of Wikipedia. Stay safe and best. You say essential sports is not considered reliable about sportskeeda? NorixNGU (talk) 03:55, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- I misspelled that I meant what about sportskeeda NorixNGU (talk) 03:56, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- NorixNGU Good day. Thank you for your message. Both Essential sport and Sportkeeda are not reliable. Use the normal mma media sites (such as mma fighting, mma junkie, cageside press, sherdog and etc.) and all major newspapers as they are independent and reliable. Pls note that UFC is consider not reliable and not independent and since ESPN has a 7 years business contract with UFC (and they work extremely closely) thus make ESPN on UFC info not independent. Btw, thank you for your contirbution as I saw you have edits some of MMA fighters articles. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 04:01, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the feedback I’ll be sure to keep that in mind next time. NorixNGU (talk) 04:21, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

Please ease up on the warnings
I noticed that User talk:Jtx186 is littered with warnings from you after checking against one of his their uncited contributions. Please ease up on these warnings for this type of edits[8][9] per WP:BITE and WP:HOUND. The account is editing exclusively from mobile platforms, and the interface does not make citing things easy. The person may never learn how. I realise that it may be annoying that this person never provides citations for any edits given the stringent BLP policies, but this gnomish edit is mundane and non-disruptive and should not be punished given WP:BOLD. Morbidthoughts (talk) 19:14, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- Morbidthoughts Good day. Thank you for the message above, I understand you wrote the message in good will and good intention. Since you have been edited Wikipedia since 2007 with average of 500 edits per year in Wikipedia main space and I would like to thank you for being a long time Wikipedia contributor. I am one of the counter vandalism trainers - see HERE-1 and have about (estimated) 50K counter vandalism edits in Wikipedia so I am familiar with counter vandalism work.
Adding/change content to the article is not gnomish work. Gnomish works in Wikipedia are improving punctuation, fixing typos, correcting poor grammar, creating redirects, adding categories, repairing broken links, adding ISBNs of books, adding short description tag in the article, organizing word pairs into tables, repairing links to disambiguation pages, adding wiki links, adding useful categories, adding redirects, finding sources for "citation needed" tags, providing helpful advice to new editors, posting welcome messages, providing help to other editors, at various forums and various pages around Wikipedia, such WP:Help Desk, etc., helping to maintain "project pages", and many other tasks.
- If you look at the editor talk page and history log, you would notice that the editor started editing Wikipedia since August 30 2018. They are not new editor and have been warned many times since October 2022. The editor was blocked 3 times (June 2023, September 2023 and April 2024) for vandalism, disruptive editing and unsourced so BITE, HOUND and BOLD do not apply there as the editor is a repeat Wikipedia guidelines violator. The most important guidelines in Wikipedia if I have to choose only one is verifibility as this is the core policy of Wikipedia and the editor who add/change the content is the one who need to provide the source for verification. So if an editor repeatedly not provide source and have been warned so many times and continuing to do so, the editor will be blocked and indeed they just got indef block for unsourced - see HERE-2.
- Lastly, I thank you for adding the source on half of the said editor on Ryan Garcia page and once again thank you for time, effort you spent on contributing to Wikipedia for last 17 years. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 06:37, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- I spend a lot of time on the BLP noticeboards and just don't consider these edits disruptive or vandalism. The indef block was harsh if they were just adding uncited but verifiable information. This is the type of enforcement that drives casual but useful contributors away. Even though the user created their account in 2018, I still consider them a casual contributor who is trying to improve the project so WP:BOLD matters. They are making the same type of edits that an ip address would make in updating sports articles with the latest record or mundane news. Their mistake was creating an account to accumulate these warnings. Morbidthoughts (talk) 07:50, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- Pinging @Callanecc: since they made the block off your AIV request[10]. Morbidthoughts (talk) 08:17, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- Morbidthoughts If they are new or just have one of two unsourced content added that is a different things, but the editor habitually and repeatedly adding unsourced content, vandalized article and made disruptive edits after many warnings and guidelines provided. Repeatedly adding unsourced content after many warnings will result a block for IP editors or register users, so are continuing/repeating edit disruptively, vandalized articles, personal attack other editors and etc. All warnings are accumulated and all edits are recorded for they can always be viewed in the history log regardless if they are IP or registered users. I know you dont share Wikipedia way of conducts of the admins or the counter vandalism editors, but this is Wikipedia and to edit in Wikipedia we have to adhere to the guidelines. If there is still some doubt in you of this issues, please take a moment to ponder why the user have been blocked 3 times by 3 different admins in three different occasions. Lastly, it is not about mundane content added to the articles but it is about repeatedly violating the core policy of Wikipedia. Once again, I thank you for your long time contribution to Wikipedia. Stay safe are and have a wonderful weekend. Cassiopeia talk 08:34, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- They are not vandalism edits within the meaning of WP:VANDALISM, as in deliberate edits meant to obstruct Wikipedia. It may be frustrating and annoying to see these content additions uncited, but they fall under WP:BOLD. Wikipedia is not meant to be a bureaucracy. Morbidthoughts (talk) 08:43, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- Morbidthoughts, As mentioned, a user being blocked is not only violating VAL guidelines but also by other means especially for a repeated violator for so many times in a year where warnings and guidelines are placed in their talk page (sorry I am repeating myself here). A violator is a behavior issue as violator is "a person who breaks or fails to comply with a rule and/or a person who treats something with irreverence or disrespect. Even for a new editor continuing adding unsourced contain after many warnings, they will be blocked temporary (31hrs/3 days) let a lone a repeated violator. See Wikipedia:About - "Anyone can edit Wikipedia's text, references, and images. What is written is more important than who writes it. The content must conform with Wikipedia's policies, including being verifiable by published sources." In short verifiability is the essence of Wikipedia work. Cassiopeia talk 09:47, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- The problem with your argument is that the information being added is easily verifiable even if they didn't provide a citation. You seem to be an experienced editor with the subjects of MMA and boxing to recognise what is verifiable or not without a citation. WP:FULLCITE acknowledges this interpretation with "When tagging or removing material for lacking an inline citation, please state your concern that it may not be possible to find a published reliable source, and the material therefore may not be verifiable. If you think the material is verifiable, you are encouraged to provide an inline citation yourself before considering whether to remove or tag it." You did not remove or challenge the information on Islam Makachev.[11] Instead you gave this person a warning.[12] Then when I told you to ease up after my experience with this editor. You gave a final warning for the Islam Makachev article when they didn't edit that article further,[13] gave a final warning for a similar edit for Ryan Garcia,[14] and filed an AIV.[15] That is WP:POINTy. Morbidthoughts (talk) 23:35, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

- I dont always go to my user page when I start editing. I have about 2K watchlist and many notifications. You can check my daily working pattern on my contribution log of my editing patterns. (not sure what you meant by tagging - so I explain here) Tagging is not the same as violation of guidelines. Tagging the article is a considered gnomish work. We tag the "article" not the editor when we find some issues needs to be solved such as copyedit, missing categories, lack of wikilinls, article needs to have more section, and etc. The tag(s) appear at the top of the article. Here is a different topic". As per WP:BURDEN - All content must be verifiable and the burden lies on the editor who added/change the content to provide source (inline citation) for verifiability. As mentioned, if a editor continuing violate the Wikipedia guidelines (vandalism/unsourced/disruptive/ personal attack and etc.), after warnings "many times" that informing they will be blocked and if they are continuing to do so after that then he will be reported especially the editor has been informed of such since one year and had been blocked twice prior to another recent block -that is the point which I hope you can understand which I have been trying to explained to you a few times it is long standing behavior issues. Have a good weekend and best. Cassiopeia talk 06:32, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
