There is an article of "Maratha war of independence" which redirects to Deccan wars even though both wars are different. --TuberGotTubed (talk) 09:30, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

TuberGotTubed As per the article Maratha did involved in the war. If you disagree, pls go to the article talk page- see HERE to discuss with the involved editors as I am not familiar with Maratha or Decan wars.

TuberGotTubed I understood you clearly on your initial message as you were clear. There is no "Maratha war of independence" article in Wikipedia and so they redirect to "Deccan wars" article for they might be related since the article mentions about Maratha. I suggest you to go to the article talk page - HERE to discuss with the involved editors as I am not familiar with Maratha or Decan wars or Maratha war of independence. I am an auto-confirmed user with over 185 edits and some experience of fighting vandalism on the Recent Changes page. I edit a wide range of articles and would be happy to learn more skills in fighting vandalism. I often warn vandals, welcome newbies, and spend a lot of the day waiting on the Recent Changes page. I don't want to annoy you, but, first of all, what are the best ways to actively fight vandalism? I normally do the old-school way of patrolling recent changes for hours. I know Huggle is good, but I'm not a rollbacker and can't use it.

Apollogetticax For most editors they use Recent Changes log and for counter vandalism editors, some of them use Huggle. I suggest you to take up WP:CVUA program first to understand counter vandalism work and guidelines to be a effective counter vandalism editor. You can choose any instructor from the list and I am one of them. To say that you need to have at least 200 main space edits to join the program. At the moment you have a total of main space edits of 81 - see HERE. When you reach the requirement above then pop back here if you still want to join the CUVA program. Stay safe and best. Recent changes

  • Editors will notice that there have been some changes to the background color of text in the diff view, and the color of the byte-change numbers, last week. These changes are intended to make text more readable in both light mode and dark mode, and are part of a larger effort to increase accessibility. You can share your comments or questions on the project talkpage. [1]
  • The text colors that are used for visited-links, hovered-links, and active-links, were also slightly changed last week to improve their accessibility in both light mode and dark mode. [2]

  • The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 25 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 26 June. It will be on all wikis from 27 June (calendar). [4][5]
  • Starting 26 June, all talk pages messages' timestamps will become a link at English Wikipedia, making this feature available for you to use at all wikis. This link is a permanent link to the comment. It allows users to find the comment they were linked to, even if this comment has since been moved elsewhere. Hello, Cassiopeia. I am doing user suggestions to help Wikipedia articles (I am currently taking a break from Recent Changes patrolling), and many suggestions (I am doing copyedits) are pages with not just spelling and grammar mistakes, but also with tags that say they are like advertisements.

Mick.Caru Image needs to be upload on Wikipedia Commons first then copy the file name and paste it on Wikipedia article. Save the image in png or jpg format. Go to Wiki Commons to upload the image - see HERE and follow the instructions. I suggest you to read Wikipedia:Uploading images first prior the upload. Once the upload is done then click "Use this file" with the "W" icon next to it, a window will pop up and copy Thumnail file name and past on the article. Stay safe and best. Recent changes

  • Over the next three weeks, dark mode will become available for all users, both logged-in and logged-out, starting with the mobile web version. This fulfils one of the top-requested community wishes, and improves low-contrast reading and usage in low-light settings. As part of these changes, dark mode will also work on User-pages and Portals. There is more information in the latest Web team update. [7]
  • Logged-in users can now set global preferences for the text-size and dark-mode, thanks to a combined effort across Foundation teams. This allows Wikimedians using multiple wikis to set up a consistent reading experience easily, for example by switching between light and dark mode only once for all wikis. [8]
  • If you use a very old web browser some features might not work on the Wikimedia wikis. This affects Internet Explorer 11 and versions of Chrome, Firefox and Safari older than 2016. This change makes it possible to use new CSS features and to send less code to all readers. [9][10]
  • Wikipedia Admins can customize local wiki configuration options easily using Community Configuration. Community Configuration was created to allow communities to customize how some features work, because each language wiki has unique needs. At the moment, admins can configure Growth features on their home wikis, in order to better recruit and retain new editors. More options will be provided in the coming months. [11]
  • Editors interested in language issues that are related to Unicode standards, can now discuss those topics at a new conversation space in MediaWiki.org. The Wikimedia Foundation is now a member of the Unicode Consortium, and the coordination group can collaboratively review the issues discussed and, where appropriate, bring them to the attention of the Unicode Consortium.
  • One new wiki has been created: a Wikipedia in Mandailing (w:btm:) [12]

El kukulkano Good day and thank you for the question. First of all, kindly remove the info on your user page regarding Musk and "ust a fellow brother scumbag, like all of you. But I ain't pretending otherwise." for Wikipedia is an online encyclopedias which article/content added or changed needs to be supported by independent, reliable sources such as from the newspapers or books for verification. You might "personally disagree" with Musk or the media that is your own "private" opinions/thought. Here in Wikipedia, we just recorded what is stated by the independent, reliable source and not our opinion. For you to state that in you user page, which imply you have an agenda which is not encourage here. Secondly, in Wikipedia we our conduct and communication needs to be civil as if you to mention that other editor might be a "scumbag" is not a positive and encouragement to work together. As such, I suggest you to remove all the content on your user page. Pls see WP:User Page guidelines.
Your edits on Paradox of tolerance were removed twice for the first two sources are not considered in reliable. And the third one is considered reliable; however, the source does not mention of the subject in hand and what you have done was synthesis of material/opinions which is not allowed but we paraphrase what the sources stated directly. To added source (inline citation), pls use the horizontal format of Template:cite web, if the source is from the web.

Tool of the week

  • User:Teester/EntityShape.js - a userscript that adds an input box to a Wikidata page wherein you can enter an EntitySchema (such as E10). When you click "Check", checks whether each statement and property conforms to the schema. It then displays a summary at the top of the Item for each property indicating whether they conform or not. It also adds a badge to each statement and each property on the page indicating whether they conform or not.

  • A problem with the color of the talkpage tabs always showing as blue, even for non-existent pages which should have been red, affecting the Vector 2022 skin, has been fixed.

  • The Trust and Safety Product team wants to introduce temporary accounts with as little disruption to tools and workflows as possible. Volunteer developers, including gadget and user-script maintainers, are kindly asked to update the code of their tools and features to handle temporary accounts. Hello, I came across a studio photograph of my grandfather and the actor, Arthur Elton. It was taken in 1913 in Seattle. My grandfather was an usher at a theater and sat for a portrait with Mr. Elton. Because there is little written about Mr. Elton, I wonder if it would be useful to include this photograph and the information inscribed on the back. MondaDR Good day and thank you for the question. First of all, there is no article about Arthur Elton (actor) in English Wikipedia. Secondly, you need to be the copyright holder (the one who took the photo) in order to upload it to Wikipedia and I guess you are not the one who took the photo since it is dated 1913. Thank you.
