Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Do not use talk pages as discussion or forum pages as Wikipedia is not a forum.
The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! [edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Carmel High School (Indiana). Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.
If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block.
Please stop revert warring over this. Take it to the article talk page and discuss it. This isn't the school's Facebook page, it is an encyclopedia article. Encyclopedia articles are meant to be summaries of what others have written about the subject. Has newspapers, magazines, academic journals, books or TV and radio news written about this school's radio station? Or its TV show on cable community access channels? John from Idegon (talk) 19:08, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
Dear User:John from Idegon, from my understanding, the reason you deleted the broadcasting section of Carmel High School (Indiana) was because you felt it lacked sources. If you allow me to revert your edit one last time in what will be the 2nd reversion I have done on Wikipedia to anyone in the past 24 hours, or if you revert your own edit, then I will both add as many sources as I needed, and delete any information that I cannot find sources for. P.S. Do you consider Carmel Clay School's website or WHJE's website to be adequate sources? P.P.S Which information about WHJE should be on Carmel High School (Indiana) and Which information should be on WHJE Caleb The Wipper (talk) 02:14, 22 February 2018 (UTC)Caleb The Wipper
- I'd suggest you not do that. As far as your questions go: no, no, and see above. If you are going to edit here, you need to learn and follow policy. If you have any further questions, see below. John from Idegon (talk) 04:02, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Please stop your disruptive editing.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Carmel High School (Indiana), you may be blocked from editing. John from Idegon (talk) 01:43, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
Few points
[edit]Hi Caleb,
Welcome to the 'pedia,
First off please read WP:EDITWARRING, WP:CONTENTDISPUTE and WP:AGF,
Secondly - When you're reverted you need to go to the articles talkpage and seek consensus for your changes, There are plenty of options to resolve content disputes (WP:RFC, WP:30, WP:DRN all to name but a few),
I've closed your ANI report as that report is only going to get you blocked so moving forward I would strongly you go to the talkpage and seek consensus - If no one replies then you have one of the options above to resolve it,
If you need any help leave a message on tp and I'll do my best to help,
Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 21:55, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
Dear User:Daver2010, My first response to User:John from Idegon's reversions was to assume good faith by believing that his reasons are legit. However, John continued to revert my various edits repeatedly, while not reverting anyone else's edits, even if they achieve the same thing. Finally, because my changes were made by additional users, I feel no need to post on Talk:Carmel High School (Indiana) or Talk:Carmel, Indiana unless someone reverts the other users' edits. Because of that, I will ask 2 things: 1. Do you have any other solutions to this content dispute? and if so, what are they? 2. Why do you believe that my ANI report was likely to get me blocked? Caleb The Wipper (talk) 22:12, 23 February 2018 (UTC)Caleb The Wipper
Cyberbullying
[edit]What you described an AN/I is not cyberbullying. You may be experiencing frustration with regard to editing Wikipedia, but that needs to be addressed by listening to experienced users and acquainting yourself with Wikipedia's rules and conventions. With regard to edit warring; deals are not negotiated on how many reverts one editor executes before another may address the situation. If there is a content dispute editors go to the article talk page and determine consensus (see WP:BRD). I'll watchlist this page in the event you have any questions. Tiderolls 21:58, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
- Oh, and what Davey said, too. Tiderolls 21:59, 23 February 2018 (UTC)

- I don't think your post would've gotten you blocked per se. The danger you exposed yourself to was bringing attention to a possible edit warring situation. When an incident is reported on that board the activity of all editors is scrutinized. I really can't get into the specifics of the content dispute because that's not admins do here (except when they are wearing their "editor" cap, in which case they have no more power than any other editor). If I involve myself with content questions then I exclude myself from any admin action (see WP:INVOLVED). My suggestion is talk it over with John on the article talk page; keep an open mind. The most important component of communication is listening. Tiderolls 22:24, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
A minor note:
[edit]- A minor note: Youtube is not a reliable source for what you are trying to do. Likewise the current event you are trying to write about isn't notable enough to warrant inclusion. You are not in a position to demand that another editor's edits be reverted, especially because they were correct in reverting you. Finally, please remember that while Wikipedia is open to everyone to edit, it is a private website and as such, you do not have any right to edit here. Keep that in mind. --Tarage (talk) 23:05, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
Dear User:Tarage, The YouTube video you are referring to is an official announcement from Carmel High School (Indiana)'s principal that is on Carmel Clay Schools' official YouTube Channel. However, in future edits, I will provide additional sources whenever I post a YouTube video of ANY KIND, and I will refrain from referencing ANY unofficial YouTube videos. Also, after the edit you are referring to was deleted twice by separate admins, I decided to quit adding that edit. I did not demand another editor's edits to be reverted, I merely pointed out the double standard that existed in reverting solely My edits. I would have been perfectly happy if someone adequately explained why no double standard exists, or if User: John from Idegon found a peaceful solution to our edit war. Yes, I have tried to find said peaceful solution, but all of my attempts have failed.Caleb The Wipper (talk) 23:45, 23 February 2018 (UTC)Caleb The Wipper
- The 'peaceful solution' is to go to the article's talk page. He isn't 'just' reverting you. I know that's how it feels, but multiple people are telling you that isn't the case. It is NOT a double standard. --Tarage (talk) 00:23, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
- Caleb, I'm sorry but I simply do not have the time to tutor you. I told you exactly what the problems were with your edits in your very first post on my talk page, and I gave you a link to the Teahouse so you could enquire there. You continued to readd material that was not properly sourced and make poorly formed additions (adding non existing fields to infobox, improperly formed and inappropriate "see also" additions). I don't know what it is you think I should be doing, but everything you need to know to figure out the problem has been provided on your talk, including a link to the Teahouse where as of my last visit a couple hours ago, you've not asked a question. Please just let this go, and work on figuring out the issue rather than blaming others because you can't. Hundreds of new editors start on Wikipedia every day. It's an entirely voluntary effort. No one is required to do anything other than follow the rules. Some really good content got added to the article by an experienced editor that follows my talk page. That's the first quality improvement that article has had in quite a while. The article on CHS is a very poorly constructed cruddy mess. Perhaps you'd like to actually help improve it to be a fitting article for one of the most important school's in Indiana? The recent addition Billhpike made is how encyclopedia writing is supposed to be done. You read things and paraphrase what they say; you don't decide what to say and try to find sources for it. It is much easier for someone not connected to the school to do that, because that's all we can say. Original research (ie, writing about what you know as opposed to what you've read) is strictly not allowed. Unfortunately, most of the article is exactly that. Your changes got reverted because changes to articles are tracked, both by editor's personal watchlist and by various recent change reports. The article needs serious work. I'll be more than happy to help you work on the article, but I have no interest in helping you or anyone else add more poorly referenced, promotional or local interest only crap to it. If you want to work (and it will be work) on changing the article into a serious encyclopedic work, this school (pretty close to alone in Indiana, excepting maybe one or two other old inner city schools in the big cities) has the potential to support a good or even featured article. So is your goal here to become a Wikipedian or to promote CHS? The choice is yours. John from Idegon (talk) 00:01, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
Dear User:John from Idegon I would like to apologize for accusing you of cyberbullying. As part of that apology, I have decided to refrain from editing both Carmel High School (Indiana) and WHJE until the 24th of March 2018. If edits to Carmel High School (Indiana) are biased enough for you to suspect that my goal is "to promote CHS", then I may less qualified to edit both Carmel High School (Indiana) and WHJE then you. ALL promises that I said I would make if you promised that your would stop reverting my edits will now be in effect, whether you make that promise or not, because you can't revert my edits if I make no edit. Carmel High School (Indiana) may become "a good or even featured article", but it may need to become one without me. Caleb The Wipper (talk) 00:12, 24 February 2018 (UTC)Caleb The Wipper
February 2018
[edit]You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove or change other editors' legitimate talk page comments, as you did at User talk:Caleb The Wipper. You know, you just got here, but you've managed to screw up just about everything you've touched. I did not start a section headed "Are you trying to promote CHS?" - You did. This page is not yours to do with as you please any more than any other part of Wikipedia is. When you signed up for a username, and every time you press the publish changes button, you agree to follow policies and guidelines. How about you spend absolutely no time telling other people how you feel, or think this should work, get off your arrogant little throne and read and listen? John from Idegon (talk) 01:32, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
- Do you have the athourity to block me?Caleb The Wipper (talk) 03:25, 24 February 2018 (UTC)Caleb The Wipper
- John cannot block you, as he is not an admin. He can, however, report you to either WP:ANI or WP:AIV and try to get someone else to block you.
- With that said, what you did is not blockable, and I would argue you did not " remove or change other editors' legitimate talk page comments" inappropriately despite his claims. SkyWarrior 03:33, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
- Caleb The Wipper, that ANI didn't close anywhere like in your favour. If you want my opinion, after only 65 edits you are heading fast for blockland yourself if you continue to throw your weight around. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:26, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
Removing posts from other editors' user talk pages
[edit]Hi Caleb The Wipper. Please don't edit another editor's talk page like you did here at User talk:John from Idegon. While you have a degree of latitude with respect to removing content from your own user talk as explained in WP:BLANKING, you should be very careful when doing so on another's talk page. If you post something on another user's talk page that you would like to remove and nobody has yet to respond, then removing the post is generally considered acceptable per WP:REDACT; if, however, someone has responded, then you you can strikethrough any relevant parts or even your entire post if you like, but you shouldn't remove it. Like any other editor, John from Idegon can decide to remove posts from their user talk page or archive them as they seem fit as long as doing so complies with relevant policy. Your edit did not only removal a reply posted by John from Idegon, but also a reply from Kudpung. Since your account is fairly new, you probably are not too familiar with Wikipedia's various policies and guidelines and just made a one time mistake. So, you might want to take a look at WP:TPG for some more information on talk page use. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:25, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
- I know you were advised to "retract" your offer. If you want to remove a comment you perviously posted, the best thing to do is strike the text. BillHPike (talk, contribs) 02:40, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
Thank both of you for that advice. With that out of the way, User:Billhpike How did you find my talk page? depending on how you answer, I may need to clear up something with you.Caleb The Wipper (talk) 03:21, 25 February 2018 (UTC)Caleb The Wipper
- John and I sometimes edit in similar areas, so I monitor his talk page. BillHPike (talk, contribs) 03:31, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for answering!Caleb The Wipper (talk) 14:55, 25 February 2018 (UTC)Caleb The Wipper
- @Caleb The Wipper: In response to this post, I am going to guess that the deal John was referring to was
I don't answer to you[,] I answer to the community
which most likely means he's not interested in making any "deals" with you, me, or any other editors. I think this edit is John's way of telling you as much. So, I think the best thing for you to do here would be to move on and let this whole "let's make a deal" discussion die a natural death. Trying to keep this going is not going to help build the encyclopedia and won't be to anyone's benefit in any way. The only deal anyone who edits Wikipedia needs to be making is with Wikipedia itself according to Wikipedia's wmf:Terms of use, and they do that everytime they make an edit. So, as long as you focus on that "deal" you should be fine. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:47, 26 February 2018 (UTC)
WikiGnome templates
[edit]Hi Caleb The Whipper. It appears you were have some difficulty adding Template:WikiGnome topicon and Template:User wikipedia/WikiGnome to your userpage. If you want to add them, then you need to use the correct syntaxt for the template's to work. If you copy and paste {{WikiGnome topicon}}
and {{User wikipedia/WikiGnome}}
onto your userpage, the templates should work properly. The userbox will look like the other userboxes on your userpage, but the top icon will show up as tiny mushroom up in the upper right corner of your userpage on the same line as your username. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:19, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

2019 US Banknote Contest
[edit]US Banknote Contest | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message[edit]You're invited! Wiki Loves Pride in Indianapolis[edit]

Draft ettiquette
[edit]Please do not prematurely publish drafts without consulting with the primary contributor(s), as you did at Purple Line (IndyGo). The article needs more work to be able to satisfy notability requirements. SounderBruce 19:56, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- My apologies. Should I move it back to being a draft? Caleb M1 (talk) 19:57, 14 October 2024 (UTC)
- Apparently, when I published the page, I forgot to change "purple line shares" to "red line shares" on each of the stations. I need to whack myself.
Whack! You've been whacked with a wet trout. Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly. |
