Deletion discussion about Sticker Mule
Hello, Bsoyka, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username Mikehawk10, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Sticker Mule, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sticker Mule.
You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Mikehawk10}}
. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!

Recent changes
- Mobile IP editors are now able to receive warning notices indicating they have a talk page message on the mobile website (similar to the orange banners available on desktop). These notices will be displayed on every page outside of the main namespace and every time the user attempts to edit. The notice on desktop now has a slightly different colour. [2][3]
Changes later this week
- Wikidata will be read-only for a few minutes on 11 November. This will happen around 06:00 UTC. This is for database maintenance. [4]
- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
Future changes
- In the future, unregistered editors will be given an identity that is not their IP address. This is for legal reasons. A new user right will let editors who need to know the IPs of unregistered accounts to fight vandalism, spam, and harassment, see the IP. You can read the suggestions for how that identity could work and discuss on the talk page.

Hello, @Bsoyka:! I see that you currently have no adoptees, I would be interested if you can adopt me as I aim to become a top editor someday. BTW, can you have a look at the name, 'Lisa Hoggarth' and tell me if it's notable enough for having a Wikipedia page. I can share some links I intend to use as references with you. Question from RalphPerry (03:11, 19 October 2021)
Thank you for your offer to mentor me. I want to become more active on Wikipedia, and I could really use some help.
For instance, I recently posted a question in the Teahouse, and got a number of helpful responses. I'd like to thank the people who responded, but I'm not sure if this is appropriate, or if so, how to do it. (The reason I think it might not be an appropriate practice is the volume of message traffic that would be generated if everybody sent "Thank You" messages to everybody who responded to their questions. Also, there doesn't seem to be an obvious mechanism for sending messages to respondents.)
I really appreciate your help getting started with Wikipedia. The communication structure is a lot bigger and more highly developed (complex) than I expected, and I can see it's going to take some time and effort to learn how to use it correctly. I was feeling pretty lost when I got your message, and I was encouraged and motivated by it. Thank You, Ralph Perry --Shadetree Sam (talk) 03:11, 19 October 2021 (UTC) P.S. I'm not sure why, but this message got tagged with a reference to "Category:Pages with disallowed DISPLAYTITLE modifications" when I posted it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RalphPerry (talk • contribs) 03:18, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello. Here is my own website - https://peterdavisnz.com/. Can you take a look at it and see if there are areas where I can usefully contribute to Wikipedia? As you can see, I do write stuff for the (NZ) media. I was also a senior editor for a decade in the 2000s at the top journal, Social Science and Medicine. So, I have experience. Take your time. I am in no hurry. I have the time! peter

Orphaned non-free image File:Sticker Mule logo.svg
Thanks for uploading File:Sticker Mule logo.svg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:28, 15 November 2021 (UTC)

December 2021 GOCE Newsletter
Guild of Copy Editors December 2021 Newsletter
Hello and welcome to the December GOCE newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since September 2021. Current and upcoming events
Election time: Our end-of-year election of coordinators opened for nominations on 1 December and will close on 15 December at 23:59 (UTC). Voting opens at 00:01 the following day and will continue until 31 December at 23:59, just before "Auld Lang Syne". Coordinators normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought of helping out at the Guild, or know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them here. December Blitz: We have scheduled a week-long copy-editing blitz for 12 to 18 December. Sign up now! Drive and Blitz reports
September Drive: Almost 400,000 words of articles were copy edited for this event. Of the 27 people who signed up, 21 copyedited at least one article. Final results and awards are listed here. October Blitz: From 17 to 23 October, we copy edited articles tagged in May and June 2021 and requests. 8 participating editors completed 26 copy edits on the blitz. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. November Drive: Over 350,000 words of articles were copy edited for this event. Of the 21 people who signed up, 14 copyedited at least one article. Final results and awards are listed here. Other news
It is with great sadness that we report the death on 19 November of Twofingered Typist, who was active with the Guild almost daily for the past several years. His contributions long exceeded the thresholds for the Guild's highest awards, and he had a hand in innumerable good and featured article promotions as a willing collaborator. Twofingered Typist also served as a Guild coordinator from July 2019 to June 2021. He is sorely missed by the Wikipedia community. Progress report: As of 30 November, GOCE copyeditors have completed 619 requests in 2021 and there were 51 requests awaiting completion on the Requests page. The backlog stood at 946 articles tagged for copy-editing (see monthly progress graph above). Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Dhtwiki, Tenryuu, and Miniapolis. To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.

Problems
- MediaWiki 1.38-wmf.11 was scheduled to be deployed on some wikis last week. The deployment was delayed because of unexpected problems.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 December. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 December. It will be on all wikis from 9 December (calendar).
- At all Wikipedias, a Mentor Dashboard is now available at
Special:MentorDashboard
. It allows registered mentors, who take care of newcomers' first steps, to monitor their assigned newcomers' activity. It is part of the Growth features. You can learn more about activating the mentor list on your wiki and about the mentor dashboard project. - The predecessor to the current MediaWiki Action API (which was created in 2008),
action=ajax
, will be removed this week. Any scripts or bots using it will need to switch to the corresponding API module. [7] - An old ResourceLoader module,
jquery.jStorage
, which was deprecated in 2016, will be removed this week. Any scripts or bots using it will need to switch tomediawiki.storage
instead. [8]

hi I want to write about my self because I want to get blue verification by instagram help me💚 --Barbod.derakhshan1 (talk) 16:15, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Barbod.derakhshan1: That won't happen for multiple reasons. Based on a quick search, you don't seem notable by either Wikipedia's standards or Instagram's standards. Writing an article about yourself won't change either of those. Also, you can't write articles about yourself because it's obviously a huge conflict of interest. Recent changes
- When using WikiEditor (also known as the 2010 wikitext editor), people will now see a warning if they link to disambiguation pages. If you click "Review link" in the warning, it will ask you to correct the link to a more specific term. You can read more information about this completed 2021 Community Wishlist item.
- You can automatically subscribe to all of the talk page discussions that you start or comment in using DiscussionTools. You will receive notifications when another editor replies. This is available at most wikis. Go to your Preferences and turn on "Automatically subscribe to topics". [20]
- When asked to create a new page or talk page section, input fields can be "preloaded" with some text. This feature is now limited to wikitext pages. This is so users can't be tricked into making malicious edits. There is a discussion about if this feature should be re-enabled for some content types.
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 18 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 19 January. It will be on all wikis from 20 January (calendar).

WP:AFC Helper News
Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.
- AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
- The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.
Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Cheers, Primefac, via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 15:59, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

Can you please help me out? Thanks
Hello, can you please help me out so we can get our Austin, Texas school on Wikipedia? The pictures are our own, and I wrote the page. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Please help. Many of our students come from poverty and do not have parents, so this would be a huge help for school morale and give our kids something to be proud of. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by RyanCase (talk • contribs) 19:03, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
- Courtesy link: Covington Middle School Hey, RyanCase! Unfortunately, middle schools aren't typically notable for inclusion on Wikipedia. We have specific criteria for what merits an article here, and middle schools almost never meet them. No amount of editing can overcome this issue, either, so there's nothing you can really improve on here. Also, your usage of the words "we" and "our" make me assume you have a conflict of interest here. This isn't something bad; it just means there are guidelines you need to follow, especially including not editing articles of subjects you're related to. Also, if you're an employee of the school, you must disclose it per the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use. I understand this is probably a lot to take in at once, but always feel free to ask me on this page if you have any questions! One final note: make sure to sign your messages on talk pages like this one by adding four tildes (
~~~~
) at the end. Have a wonderful day! Bsoyka (talk · contribs) 21:10, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
DYK for John L. Chapin
On 13 March 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article John L. Chapin, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that United States Army captain John L. Chapin's company once boycotted a burger restaurant in El Paso, Texas, for discrimination? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/John L. Chapin. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, John L. Chapin), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
