Zero Balancing - New Article
[edit]Thank you for your reply. Apologies if you have already seen my response. Not sure where to post replies - on my own talk page or the editor's. I have added wiki links to the article. I have a question about submitting a new article. It seems there is a large backlog on the create an article page (469!) Is there any other way to do this? Thank you. Just saw your edit to the log page
[edit]And that reminded me about the rewards...are you still willing to get those out? Am going offline right now, but whatever you can do would be great. Don't worry about the word count one, BTW. I had a discussion somewhere I'll need to consult, unless you saw that too. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 18:58, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

How are mottos for the day to be formatted if the author is unknown?
[edit]- I would propose this by unknown: It is hard to improve without admitting error.
- Fartherred (talk) 21:07, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
- I suppose you could just not attribute it, or attribute it to artist unknown. However, if you came up with this motto entirely by yourself, you might wish to link to your own userpage. Best regards ~ benzband (talk) 16:17, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, it is necessary to atribute mottos via the arrow link at the beginning of the phrase. If the motto is a common saying or its author is unknown, then it is not necessary to attribute it.
Fartherred, do you really think it is "bigotry"? ... kidding... ...and... "In Citheria" is for Ben (if you don't already know!) Happy Editing! –pjoef (talk • contribs) 17:08, 9 March 2012 (UTC)- Yes, pjoef. I do think it is bigotry to suggest that those who believe in a savior and prayer should be categorically excluded from Wikipedia or any organization that is not by its nature atheistic. I am sorry if you have had contact with religious people who have behaved poorly, but it is not proper to ostracize a entire group for the actions of a part of that group. I notice that you provided links to videos. I was not able to view them because I have not loaded the software to play videos onto my computer, but thanks for the effort to communicate. - "Pick up your savior and strong prayer and get out of here" was addressed to and targeted at vandals throughout the Wikipedia:BLOCK wlink, but I understand your point of view. Anyway, don't care really!
Yes Ben, it's a great music video for a great song, glad you enjoyed! –pjoef (talk • contribs) 19:41, 9 March 2012 (UTC)- Fartherred, I forgot to say a big thank you for joining and helping us at WP:MOTD. Thank you! –pjoef (talk • contribs) 19:48, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for March 19
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited Jacques de Bourgogne, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Seigneur (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Bleh...I didn't realize that people had expanded the learderboard so much
[edit]But I would still suggest five spots, instead of only three. Just my two cents, but people will get mad when they were on the leaderboard the whole time and got nothing. Side note: you may be interested in the last section on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Wikify/Drives/2012/March Mini. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 12:44, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
- Done ~ have also modified the mini awards system so that the GWWB can be awarded to 4th–5th leaderboard appearances. The reason it was a 3-slot leaderboard in the first place was because it was copied from the 2011 March Mini drive (same with the awards, mainly :-)
- As for AWB, i haven't got a clue about what should be done and am not familiar with it. All i know is that when i used it to distribute invitations, i disabled all the "add/remove such-and-such tag/cat/etc" functions (which can't have made much difference, it being restricted to talk pages ;) benzband (talk) 13:20, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
- Ahh...well, thanks, and I understand entirely. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 13:31, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
Query on March Mini Drive
[edit]Hi, please don't get me wrong. I am just wondering how the project really works. I randomly check how the topnotchers work and found that one of User:Jobberone edits look like this, and more, at BLP: William J. Wood-first edit. William J. Wood-2nd edit before claiming at # 18 that the article was wikified. If this kind of edit is okay, then it must be unfair to those who are spending lots of time following the WP:Wikify instructions. — Rammaumtalkstalk 05:13, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) I have noticed the overlinking problem, and am talking to him right now. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 05:32, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
Isn't it too early to be giving out wikify ribbons?
[edit]Hi, appreciate the ribbon but isn't it a little too early for that? March hasn't finished yet. --Wikishagnik (talk) 14:01, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
- This month's drive was a "special" drive, that only lasted from March 8 to 24, 2012 (thus the name: March "Mini" Drive). Usually drives only occur once every 2 months, but this one was slotted in-between to try and keep the backlog down, just as was done during the March Mini 2011 drive. Hope this explains it ~ Cheers, benzband (talk) 14:05, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, it does --Wikishagnik (talk) 14:11, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

March Mini Drive + Wikipedia:Wikipedia for World Heritage
[edit]Hello Ben. I hope you are well.
I'm writing to you because I have changed the silver wikification barnstar with the gold one. I did some more edits and wikified some other articles before the end of the drive, but I forgot to update my numbers (well, to be precise I did not forget ... but I thought that the deadline of the drive was at the end of the month). I hope this change is okay, but let me know if there is any problem. Luckily, with those edits my total number is 64 (1 less than Wilhelmina Will ~ hahaha) so I'm still in the 5th place ~ lol
There's also another reason why I'm writing to you. Yasht101 asked for my help with a new wikiproject/initiative, I do not know how to call it exactly, "idea???"-"gr8 idea!!!" for promoting the petition that ask UNESCO to recognise WIKIPEDIA as a World Heritage Site (see: WIKIPEDIA for World Heritage at wikipedia.de). This is a "theme" that I really care about. I signed it about one year ago, and a banner is shown on my user pages since then. Please take a look at Wikipedia:Wikipedia for World Heritage and to the related discussions on my and Yasht101's talk pages (when you have free time) and see if we can ask other editors to participate.
Thank you and all the very best. –pjoef (talk • contribs) 09:54, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

I did not edit this
[edit]Can you help me? I did not edit this:
http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Canine_reproduction&oldid=483909058
Why am I listed as the editor? Thanks!
MJobberone (talk) 01:51, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- Well, this seems to have been done by your account. It also shows up in your contribs, here. Maybe this wasn't you, and your account may have been compromised, however to me this looks like your wikifying like in the March Mini drive. Maybe it was you and you don't remember?… lol, well that may sound unlikely but it's happened to me before :-) For my part i can't tell who it was apart from that is was your account. Hope you get things sorted though, and all the best ~ benzband (talk) 16:53, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- I can see it's from my account but this http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Canine_reproduction&diff=next&oldid=483909058 is not me. I would never write something like that. Look I have 6 years of formal postdoctoral training and practiced for over 20 years. And while my age causes me a little forgetfulness I'm not amnestic or that forgetful. I'm not some nut. If someone has access to my acct then I need to know what to do. If you can't help me then can you tell me where to go or look? Is there a way to tell what IP that came from? Thanks.Jobberone (talk) 17:26, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Ok, i was only kidding on the forgetfulness but i realize this is no joking matter. Just my five cents:
- change your password, make sure it's strong
- if you edit from a multiuser computer make sure you log out once you're done with
- use an alternative account on public computers/networks (i have user:benzband)
- optionally set up a committed identity (see the one at the bottom of my userpage), this helps recover an account
To try and figure out what happened, maybe this can help:
- check the time of the edits. Recall what you were doing at the time: were you logged in? did you forget to log out (from a multiuser computer)?
- checkuser is (i think) the only available method for figuring out what IP was using your account, maybe contact an editor with access to it
Sorry for the bulleted list, i'm just brainstorming and am not that good at writing clear and concise explanations… :P More information on account security can be found at WP:SECURITY. Cheers, benzband (talk) 17:46, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. I did change my password and set up a committed identity. Appreciate the help. Cheers!Jobberone (talk) 13:36, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- you're welcome, happy this helped :) benzband (talk) 17:03, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Hey there Benzband, the April drive has been set up, although I haven't updated the invite. When that is updated, we can AWB them out. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 01:51, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, i have updated the invite at Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikify/Drives/Invite/Apr12. Also i hope there won't be any problems with people logging before the drive starts (like during the March Mini, but that was probably due to the odd dates) :P oh, and… any April fools planned for WWF? benzband (talk) 16:59, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
