For potential protection. There have been some human interest stories about how Torrey Craig played for both the Bucks and Suns so either way he will get a ring. Folks are starting to add “NBA champ” to his infobox because of it. Rikster2 (talk) 16:46, 4 July 2021 (UTC)

Suggestion for making a new article
Hey would you like to make a couple of articles with me in regards to the NFL with awards? Specifically for the pre-merger era. —Vinnylospo (talk) 2:45, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Vinnylospo: Depends. I dont edit the NFL as much, but recently got into the MVP awards and OPOY. National Football League Defensive Player of the Year Award could use similar changes. What did you have in mind?—Bagumba (talk) 15:35, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Bagumba: I want to try and emphasize more of these stats as it could help people's hall of fame chances. —Vinnylospo (talk) 3:03, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Vinnylospo: Which particular stats are you referring to?—Bagumba (talk) 01:28, 15 July 2021 (UTC)

Re: Talk On 2021 NBA Finals Edit
I got your message, and wanted to explain why I made the post instead of disputing it. I actually had a reliable source at the ready when I was writing it, but the link I wanted to use was behind a paywall. I would have had to pay for a subscription in order to read the article in full just to verify the mention. There was also a Twitter link being planned as a backup, but I would have preferred it coming from the official company the person worked for; even having a blue checkmark alone is not enough. When I reviewed the 2021 NBA Playoffs page and saw that somebody already made the mention that I wanted to make in the 2021 NBA Finals page, I treated that as fair game: because someone already made a mention of it, it felt safe to do the same on that page.
Here is the link that I originally wanted to use: http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/sports/nba/bucks/2021/07/20/bucks-win-nba-finals-toughness-hustle-embody-milwaukee/8022328002/
Here is a much better link that could be used in place of the Green Bay Press Gazette: https://www.clipsnation.com/2021/7/21/22586475/la-clippers-nba-news-milwaukee-bucks-champions-resilient-season-2-0-deficit
ElMeroEse (talk) 20:01, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- ElMeroEse: Thanks for discussing this. There's two factors involved: Is it verifiable, and is it due? With the background you gave, I scoured the internet and am satisfied now that it's true. I'm not so sure if it's due weight to include if we're relying on SB nation or other bloggy sites, and otherwise more digging shows it on Reddit and the like. I'll leave it to your discretion at this point. Cheers. —Bagumba (talk) 03:20, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Bagumba: Thank you very much. I am going to go ahead and request that the mention be brought back, with both links provided here as sources. There will have to be a warning about the Green Bay Press Gazette link as it requires a paid subscription, but if anyone has an account with them to confirm the validity of the mention, it would be much appreciated. I am worried that the mention will end up being in the disputed page anyway even though there is a valid source, so maybe a mention on the Talk page about that line might be needed. Is it possible to revert the edit without losing any of the newly added information as a new edit was made while in the middle of my own? ElMeroEse (talk) 19:32, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
- ElMeroEse: You will likely need to go into the page's history to do a diff to the "prev" version before your old edit, and then copy–paste the parts you want to reuse into the current version. You can do a preview before you save to make sure your changes look correct. —Bagumba (talk) 02:58, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
- ElMeroEse: Personally, I'd rather see the link to the tweet than SBNation. Also note that I've seen rare cases where a writer tweets a tidbit as an add-on that is not in the embedded link. —Bagumba (talk) 03:11, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Bagumba: The line has been re-applied to the article, with the Twitter link in question. Let me know if that source is okay. ElMeroEse (talk) 04:24, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
- ElMeroEse: Sorry, I was under the impression that you got the Green Bay Press Gazette link from the tweet? Is that not the case?—Bagumba (talk) 04:38, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Bagumba: No, the Twitter link that I was referring to came from an employee of a different company. The person's name is Cole Cubelic, former college football player and current sports analyst; the company he works for is ESPN. While he does have a blue checkmark, I would have preffered that same message come from ESPN directly, or their Stats And Info account. But since I can't use the Green Bay Press Gazette and SBNation is not a recommend source, this was all I was left to. ElMeroEse (talk) 23:57, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
- ElMeroEse; Did you have the print version of Green Bay Press Gazette?—Bagumba (talk) 00:12, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Bagumba: No, I found the Gazette link through a Google search. ElMeroEse (talk) 00:22, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
- ElMeroEse: If Google showed the relevant text preview, I think you can just cite the paywall source. If you still have the access to the actual quote still, just add it to the citation with
|quote=
—Bagumba (talk) 00:46, 24 July 2021 (UTC)- @Bagumba: Done. The quote did not come from Gazette, rather from another newspaper called Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, complete with writer's name. ElMeroEse (talk) 01:18, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
- ElMeroEse: Great. For the record, there's notthing wrong with WP:PAYWALL sources. I usually quote the relevant text, so people who don't have access can be assured it's not some sort of WP:OR. But yeah, if you can find a free equivalent, it makes verifying easier too. Cheers. —Bagumba (talk) 01:51, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

DYK for 2020 United States men's Olympic basketball team
On 25 July 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2020 United States men's Olympic basketball team, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that 2020 U.S. men's Olympic basketball player Kevin Durant is on the verge of becoming Team USA's leading Olympic scorer? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2020 United States men's Olympic basketball team. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, 2020 United States men's Olympic basketball team), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Shanghai Sharks
I know I've already brought it up at WT:BASKETBALL, but would you be willing to restore semi-protection on the Shanghai Sharks article? Previous protections were implemented to prevent the ongoing vandalism that started last month following the Philadelphia 76ers loss in this year's NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals, and it appears to have resumed following the last protection's expiration. Request for assistance/block(?)
Hello! Could you please assist with this and this? Thank you. /Sigvid (talk) 15:52, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
- Sigvid: A relevant guideline you can refer people to is MOS:DABNOLINK, namely an entry needs a blue link to a WP article. It's too premature to block. You might need to give a warning about edit warring if they persist and dont establish a consensus. As for the 2nd editor, WP:SOCK is a possibility, but one edit might be too early to call a WP:DUCK. Let me know if there are further issues. —Bagumba (talk) 18:52, 25 July 2021 (UTC)

Kyle Kuzma Trade
Hi, this is Techwaan in response to the Kyle Kuzma edit. The trade is official and was confirmed live during the NBA draft, there are also multiple articles from the NBA and Yahoo confirming the trade. Techwaan (talk) 01:58, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Techwaan: Hi there. Can you cite a source that it is official? The sources I've seen don't name a specific team official speaking on the record on this. If you haven't already, please read WP:SPORTSTRANS. "Agreeing to terms" and other phrases that reports typically use is not the same as plain "traded" (note past tense). Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 03:49, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
Multiple articles from credible sources including CBS Sports, NBA.com and ESPN all confirm the trade sending Westbrook to Washington for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Kyle Kuzma and Montrezl Harrel. Westbrook himself basically confirming it on twitter with his goodbye tweet to Washington. Techwaan (talk) 05:04, 30 July 2021 (UTC)
- Techwaan: Nobody has spoken on the record (WP:RSBREAKING, WP:SPORTSTRANS), and they are unlikely to until Aug 6 at the earliest.
The Free Agency Moratorium is a negotiation period from Aug. 2-6 in which teams may not sign most free agents or make trades ... Any deals struck during the moratorium period are characterized as agreements, but do not count toward team salary and are not binding for the player or team. Either side can back out in this situation — a scenario that took place in 2015 when DeAndre Jordan reneged on his verbal agreement with the Dallas Mavericks to instead re-sign with the then-incumbent LA Clippers.

"Foo (disambiguation)" page creation
Okay, thanks. I was pretty sure I had seen one of these pages created automatically, but I didn't keep any notes so maybe I was confused. I'll hold off until I see it again. Though I may add a different {{efn}} saying that it's sometimes necessary to create the "Foo (disambiguation)" redirect, since I think the text is confusing as it stands. Dan Bloch (talk) 04:21, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- Well, it's complicated. There is a bot that does this, Russbot, but looking at its contributions page it does these in batches, sometimes with weeks between them. So there's no guarantee that it will create any particular redirect in a timely fashion. So any explanatory footnote would have to be a lot more nuanced. Maybe I'll give it another try, maybe I'll let sleeping dogs lie. I'll give you a heads up if I make another change. Dan Bloch (talk) 05:57, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Danbloch: I'm not sure about that bot's breadth of coverage, because I've had to create new redirects for some long-time dabs before. An any rate, if someone needs to link to it now, they'd be advised to create it on their own. There is text on creating the redirect at WP:HOWTODAB. If this is a new(er) area for you, you might be in a better position to comment if the text makes any sense. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 06:08, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Background colors NFL
Here are the three options that I found that have a contrast rate of 7/1 or greater. I hope we can potentially use one of these to fix the backgrounds. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 00:58, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- @GoWarriors151718: One thing with those colors is that it's not as intuitive like green/red i.e. go/stop, win/lose. Would some of the shades at Help:Using colours work? People at WP:WikiProject Accessibility might also provide some guidance. Forewarning, there's herd mentality, so some might complain about "inconsistency" e.g. 2020_Los_Angeles_Dodgers_season#Game_log, 2020–21_Milwaukee_Bucks_season#Game_log, 2020_Ohio_State_Buckeyes_football_team#Schedule. There's WP:BB and MOS:ACCESS on your side. YMMV. On another side note, I don't think NFL uses anything like {{CFB schedule entry}}, so the changes would need to be made on every page, as opposed to one centralized place.—Bagumba (talk) 04:42, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
Changing the colors should not necessarily be too hard especially if we can get in touch with the folks that seem to edit those team pages the most often. I think that the using color page could help me out. Maybe we can find a way to change the link color to something that can work with green and red. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 05:01, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- GoWarriors151718: Found another page Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Accessibility/Colors of vetted colors. If you change link colors, you need to account for 2 colors—visited and unvisted links. Good luck. —Bagumba (talk) 05:14, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
Do you think I am in over my head with this whole thing? Do you think that there is a solution out there or do you think this is the best that we can do? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 05:42, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- GoWarriors151718: Sorry, I didn't mean to discourage you. There are many solutions that meet MOS:ACCESS, it's just a matter of finding one that you believe in and that the community accepts—either implicitly with no comment to your changes or explicitly via a formal discussion. If nothing else, I think you're now aware of ACCESS implications of color choices. Regards. —Bagumba (talk) 06:13, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
Just for the record, you didn't discourage me. I just think I took on a thing that is bigger than I realized. I think I will still pursue it mainly cause the set up that is in place technically does not work. I am hopeful that I can find a solution someday or at least some possibilities that I can throw your way. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 20:54, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Received confirmation by NBA and both clubs of a historic first --- no publications for NBA Finals for fans since the 1950's
What was unacceptable about the edit? Everything is 100% true. Because it's not quoted in a newspaper or online? I am a sports publication collector and received return e-mails from the NBA, the Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks that there will be no 2021 NBA Finals game publications for the first time (in a non-Covid year) since the 1950's. I was at this sporting event -- and the question I heard most "Where are the game programs?". Why, because with the elimination of physical tickets, fans had no keepsake of the event. The Milwaukee Journal will release a hard copy book after the demand was noted. What is not a fact? It can be looked up. There are NO NBA Finals Game Programs since the 2019 NBA Finals, dating back to the 1950's. Why is this information being buried? Does someone not want this to be published?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Packman22 (talk • contribs) 06:12, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Packman22: Sorry that I had to undo your first edit. However, a basic policy on Wikipedia is Wikipedia:Verifiability:
Even if you are sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it.
Specifically, they must be supportable by published reliable sources. Readers need to be able to verify on their own anything that is published here. That's the main reason it was removed for now. Bear in mind that another policy Wikipedia has is WP:ONUS:While information must be verifiable to be included in an article, not all verifiable information needs to be included in an article.
All edits are by consensus. Regarding your comment about "information being buried", Wikipedia only reflects what is in reliable sources. It's not for editors to perform original research; there are other platforms for that. Let me know if your further questions.—Bagumba (talk) 06:31, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
The only way to verify in writing that a NBA Finals Game Program was NOT published in 2021 is by including the 3 e-mails I received from the sources themselves: The NBA, Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns. I also contacted the NBA publisher, PSP Sports, who said "none will be published for 2021". My goal was to let people know. No public information exists on this subject. I own my company in an unrelated field and haven't got a clue about the journalistic rules and regulations and editing process, I only felt this notation would help explain to people what happened. There are plenty of people who attended that have been wondering; especially when something is discontinued after 65 years! That why I called the organizations to find out first hand.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Packman22 (talk • contribs) 06:50, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Packman22: In order for it to fall under what Wikipedia uses as reliable sources, a secondary source would need to report this, or perhaps the companies themselves issue a press release or post on their social media accounts. Again, this isn't to say that what you found isn't correct. But somebody reading here who doesn't know you will want to be able to verify this from reputable sources. That's why citations are needed. Another option is to contact a media source with your information; perhaps they would report it, and then they would become a citable, reliable source here. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 07:07, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
The organizations would never release anything via a press release or social media. They were quietly not saying a word so they could eliminate all printed publications and that's what prompted people to call. One representative said he returned over 50 calls asking why they were not published. The only media sources I found were Letters to Editor.
According to reliable sources this should also be removed from the "2021 NBA Finals" page because there is no citation to prove these games were actually on these networks:
"Locally, the Finals aired on radio on KMVP-FM in Phoenix and WTMJ in Milwaukee.[citation needed]"
Unfortunately, my first post will also be my last. Life is too short.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:246:c001:54c0:8c55:e611:5b1f:7f44 (talk) 07:32, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

He was legitimately and clearly concerned about the effect of the wide lockdown in Australia on those who were most vulnerable to economic dislocation and daily stress, and as someone who had come from a working class family. I didn't get any sense that the specific utility or necessity of the lockdown was apparent to him. Activist (talk) 16:01, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
DYK for Ken Whitlock
On 3 September 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Ken Whitlock, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. Edit summary question
Just wondering what does ce stand for? I saw that in your edit on the 2021 UCLA football team page. And also how come you removed the Hawaii link from the 2021 UCLA football page? Should we remove LSU too then? GoWarriors151718 (talk) 21:58, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
- GoWarriors151718: ce is commonly used for copyediting. The edit was more specifically MOS:SEEALSO; it's typically not needed if it's already linked in the prose, which I did when I added the game recap for Hawaii. —Bagumba (talk) 00:47, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
Ah. Okay. That makes sense. Thanks for the quick response. I appreciate it. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 00:51, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

Your message regarding my additions of content in the article, Killing of Breonna Taylor
Hello, I'm Pizztov. I am responding to the following message from you:
Hello, I'm Bagumba. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Killing of Breonna Taylor, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. —Bagumba (talk) 01:12, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
I have the full citation you requested. This wasn't an oversight; rather, I intended for my addition to be included among the three citations to the sentence I added to. However, having read those sources thoroughly, I think a new source is best. I read over the link regarding referencing. Having observed that it may be higher level editors who are encouraged to add a citation before removing an addition unless they believe no reliable source will be found, I wish to kindly ask if you might add the citation on me behalf. My primary reason for this request is that I notice in the three citations I looked at from the article, there is a phrase regarding original sources having been archived. I located the archive and believe I do not have access to it. Thus, I could benefit from your assistance. This is the full citation:
Duvall, Tessa (April 15, 2021). “Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly: What to know about the Louisville cop shot in Breonna Taylor raid.” Louisville Courier Journal. Retrieved September 16, 2021. “Within minutes, a volley of bullets would leave Mattingly shot in the thigh, his femoral artery severed, and Taylor, a 26-year-old Black woman, dead on the floor of her home.”
Thank you, Pizztov Pizztov (talk) 02:32, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
- Pizztov: You are right, editors are asked to WP:PRESERVE, if possible. However, after I had checked the three sources in the lead and the one in the body, and due to WP:INTEGRITY concerns, I removed it. It probably doesn't help that Taylor's death is a contentious topic, and other editors before you have added unsourced, but incorect, information. No issue with discussing it now with your identified source; it's part of a normal WP:BRD cycle. Looking further, I see that mention of the artery is already at Killing of Breonna Taylor#Jonathan_Mattingly. I'm not sure if that's the best location, but I don't think it's notable enough to also mention in the lead—the charge that Walker shot him seems sufficient there. Feel free to modify the body of the article as needed.
I located the archive and believe I do not have access to it.
: Can you elaborate on your access issue? At any rate, the archive there is just a backup, in case the original link is no longer accessible. Regards. —Bagumba (talk) 05:25, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
PAC-12 Rankings grid
Hi again. I was doing some rankings updates on individual PAC-12 season pages and I realized that the graphic used on the individual team pages has a flaw with it and that is that they have a spot for preseason and a spot for week 1. I found a different graphic on the PAC-12 football season page that eliminated the week 1 column and I was wondering if it would be better to convert them from the current graphics to the one shown on the PAC-12 season page but only have the individual teams rankings week to week shown. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 22:24, 19 September 2021 (UTC)
- GoWarriors151718, it seems even the week numbers are inconsistent with 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football rankings, where week 1 seems to be what the Pac-12 pages list as week 2. Do you know what is the rationale for that on Pac-12 pages? If you can't figure out which one is right, you could solicit opinions at WT:CFB. Cheers. —Bagumba (talk) 01:07, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- I think the rationale on the 2021 PAC-12 football season page skipping week 1 is that week 1 and the preseason rankings were the same and so rather than input the same data twice...it would only be input once. In all honesty, I think that merging week 1 and the preseason rankings together is the right move but obviously I don't have any backing or power to make the changes on the individual 2021 PAC-12 team pages. I think another problem with having separate columns for the preseason and week 1 is that it seems like the people who are adding the rankings are not necessarily putting the numbers in the correct spots and so even if the most recent rankings are for week 4 that the data is being input into week 3. If you look up the AP Poll from their website...week 1 was released prior to the season and there was no link to a preseason poll which makes me believe that week 1=preseason poll. Here is the link so that you could take a look as to what I was trying to say. https://apnews.com/hub/ap-top-25-college-football-poll?week=1. Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 07:55, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- GoWarriors151718, I can't say I'm up with the nuances of weekly rankings. I still advise discussing at WT:CFB, as this seemingly should be consistent for all conferences.—Bagumba (talk) 08:00, 20 September 2021 (UTC)
- I will end this now. The last time I tried to get something changed….it didn’t work and so I’m not interested in trying to change something again. Sorry for wasting your time. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 08:22, 20 September 2021 (UTC)

Enyart
Bagumba, I believe you in your assertion that Enyart died on September 12 and not the 13th. However, the sources I was able to locate all referenced the 13th. As I mentioned in the edit summary, press releases are not acceptable as reliable sources and especially one that comes from a person's website, which violates the two policies I mentioned. Can you assist in locating a proper, credible source for the date change? I will help, as well. Sorry about the reversion, but we have to edit based upon sources and not what we think (or even know) to be true. God bless and happy editing. MarydaleEd (talk) 05:41, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
- @MarydaleEd: Per the policy WP:ABOUTSELF, a death date seems straightfoward. Is there reasonable doubt that they would fabricate it to be a day earlier? I have little background on Enyart, other than seeing this at WP:ITNC earlier and noticing that none of the exisiting citations specifically said the 13th. Reporting his death on a date is not the equivalent of him dying on that same date. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 05:56, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
- Right, of course, about the reporting of death and actual death isn't necessarily the same. That was a given. The WP:ABOUTSELF is questionable since Enyart clearly didn't write the press release about himself. That is another hurdle that blocks that source - it is a press release, which we never use. I opened this up for discussion on the Enyart Talk page and hope to hear from others. I won't duplicate my words here, so please check it out and let's continue to work together on this. I will, of course, abide by any consensus of editors. I am trying my best to find a credible resource - almost any resource other than social media or a press release - to verify his date of death. Until then, I hope the new sentence I wrote bides us until we do. I want to tell you how much I appreciate your contributions to this article and hope we can work together again on other articles. I enjoy working with conscientious editors. God bless and happy editing. MarydaleEd (talk) 06:07, 22 September 2021 (UTC)
- MarydaleEd: No worries, I'll comment there. On a side note, I saw your edit summary on the PR having been removed before. For the record, I did see that before restoring, but that edit said "Ensured the facts presented in each sentence could be found within the sources cited", so I just assumed it was because the content had moved from the front page kgov.com to a different URL, so I re-added with the updated URL. Otherwise, I was about to post on the talk page along with my edit. It's all good. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 06:52, 22 September 2021 (UTC)

Double-double
Hi Bagumba, thank you for your explanation. First, I beg your pardon I put the source in the wrong place, for sure I made a mess in the edit page. The cited excel file is the result of deep searches on past newspapers, so it's quite impossible to report all sources. I would just note that in the page are already reported a few "unofficial" stats (quadruple and quintuple double), so I just added another one, and yes, maybe is better to add 'unofficial' somewhere in the text. BR, Giovanni.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Ammammata (talk • contribs) 20:40, 26 September 2021 (UTC)
- @Ammammata: Thanks for discussing this. I see at least two issues. First, I'm not familiar enough with nbastats.net to be convinced that it can be considered a reliable source. Second, given that there can be lots of sources of unofficial stats, does it meet WP:WEIGHT to mention this particular one? Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 03:27, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
User trouble
Could you please get in touch with GalaxyFighter55 please? I asked him a question politely and he answered with a pretty rude response. I understand the answer but he/she didn’t have to be so rude about it. Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 02:05, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
- @GoWarriors151718: Hi there. You can refer to Wikipedia:Civility#Dealing with incivility, which has initial steps editors should follow if they believe they've been the target of incivility. For clarity. what were the specific portions that you considered offensive, or how would you have preferred that they responded? Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 03:16, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the article. After looking at it, I know what I did wrong and what I will improve on in case I cross paths with another person that I have a disagreement with. I am sorry that I engaged with him after he had left me the rude sounding note. I feel like he could have said something like "sorry but wikipedia is first come first serve when it comes to edits." rather than just a flat no followed by the explanation. I just feel like the word choice was slightly harsher than what I would have used. I hope you can understand at least a little bit from my perspective. I have decided to abort future edits on that page so they won't have to deal with me again. He/She left another note, tagged me, and I am scared to read it. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 06:41, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
- @GoWarriors151718: I can respect your reaction. Many of us, myself included, can always be warmer. WP:UNCIVIL offers some guidance:
Bear in mind that the editor may not have thought they were being uncivil; Wikipedia is edited by people from many different backgrounds, and standards vary.
Assuming good faith is a standard guideline for all of us on WP. That said, it's your prerogative where you choose to edit and whether you choose to follow up on this (WP:CHOICE). Something to consider if you make similar requests to "be in charge" in the future, might be to explain to the other party how your suggestion is beneficial to you both and avoiding any misconception of WP:OWNERSHIP, which I'm sure is not your intent. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 07:21, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for all your help tonight. I really appreciate it. And thanks for the helpful articles. I will use them in the future in case something like this arises again. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 07:28, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
One last thing
Sorry to bug you again but a few months ago back when I was new to all of these Wikipedia things…I wasn’t always efficient with my editing and I was called out for it and I got better at it. Anyway, I asked that person who called me out for it if I could help with something and I feel like his response was a little rough in the sense that I feel a little coerced to get off of Wikipedia. And before you say something about the wording of my original question…it was before you gave me some helpful advice on how to get my question across without exerting leadership control and things like that. I told him in the beginning that I had improved. The user is Yowashi. Thanks. I’m sorry to have to give you a “call” again. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 02:28, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
Sorry that I am getting in touch with you again so quickly after the other problem that I had. I feel a little embarrassed. But I do appreciate your help. And I am trying hard to be better at things like this. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 03:47, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
- @GoWarriors151718: Sorry about your experience. Editors are asked not to bite newcomers. If you feel you have been a victim, specific guidance is at Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers#What to do if you feel you have "bitten" or have been bitten. Let me know if you have further questions.—Bagumba (talk) 03:48, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help. It's really kind of sad and a bit surprising that me being naive a few months ago was so upsetting to someone out there that he is still holding it over my head today. And not only that but it also pushed him into the action items of coercing me to get off of Wikipedia. As far as my future goes on Wikipedia, I am unsure how much longer I want to do this since it is clear to me that I am doing as much harm as I am doing good. Anyway, thanks again. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 01:31, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
- @GoWarriors151718: That's a hard one. People may come off as more passive-aggressive on the Internet, which is impersonal by nature, but it's not to say it doesn't happen in real life, face-to-face, either. It's your prerogative if you want to point it out to them civilly—your results may vary. Otherwise, it's probably best to move on and not let it fester. Being somewhere in between only causes more resentment, IMO. WP:AGF goes a long way. Wikipedia is WP:NOTCOMPULSORY, so contribute at the level you feel comfortable. It's OK to dial back or take a WP:WIKIBREAK. I think you're generally doing fine, but perhaps you have higher expectations of others, which can understandably lead to frustration at times. Best.—Bagumba (talk) 02:05, 30 September 2021 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – October 2021
News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2021).
- Following an RfC, extended confirmed protection may be used preemptively on certain high-risk templates.
- Following a discussion at the Village Pump, there is consensus to treat discord logs the same as IRC logs. This means that discord logs will be oversighted if posted onwiki.
- DiscussionTools has superseded Enterprisey's reply-link script. Editors may switch using the "Discussion tools" checkbox under Preferences → Beta features.
- A motion has standardised the 500/30 (extended confirmed) restrictions placed by the Arbitration Committee. The standardised restriction is now listed in the Arbitration Committee's procedures.
- Following the closure of the Iranian politics case, standard discretionary sanctions are authorized for all edits about, and all pages related to, post-1978 Iranian politics, broadly construed.
- The Arbitration Committee encourages uninvolved administrators to use the discretionary sanctions procedure in topic areas where it is authorised to facilitate consensus in RfCs. This includes, but is not limited to, enforcing sectioned comments, word/diff limits and moratoriums on a particular topic from being brought in an RfC for up to a year.
- Editors have approved expanding the trial of Growth Features from 2% of new accounts to 25%, and the share of newcomers getting mentorship from 2% to 5%. Experienced editors are invited to add themselves to the mentor list.
- The community consultation phase of the 2021 CheckUser and Oversight appointments process is open for editors to provide comments and ask questions to candidates.

- @Beastfromb: Thanks for discussing this. Wikipedia's policy on verifiability states:
Even if you are sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it.
As such, it limits inclusion of some things that might, in fact, be true. Some alternatives are that Dulcich might provide the information for a reliable, secondary source to publish, which you can then cite. Or he might self publish the information himself. As a relative of his, please also be aware of Wikipedia's policy on conflict of interest. Let me know if you have any further questions. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 16:52, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Greg Dulcich
On 30 October 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Greg Dulcich, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Greg Dulcich is a former walk-on whose first touchdown with UCLA was about three miles (4.8 km) from his high school? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Greg Dulcich. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Greg Dulcich), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page.
