Spam deletion

Hey there, while I recognize that the spam was removed on the pages I tagged, the issue is the bots link the old diffs elsewhere so deleting it is the only way to truly address it is a full deletion of the page. Thanks. Jon Kolbert (talk) 06:11, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That'll do the trick. Would you be able to nab Special:Diff/882185497 as well? Thanks. Jon Kolbert (talk) 06:34, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. – Athaenara 06:36, 14 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Feminism in Pakistan

see also: Aurat March (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), Special:Contributions/Bookku

Hi,

Read your user page. I am looking for proper referenced research & proactive copy edit support for article Feminism in Pakistan.

IMO Wikipedia Article Feminism in Pakistan seems to be on difficult trajectory as actual feminism in Pakistan is. A non-neutral position becoming strong, in intro section of the article itself, vocal feminism being subjectively depicted as bad feminism & slut shamed!

Recently from my side I made some contribution to the article Feminism in Pakistan, lot of researched books & secondary sources seems to be available, IMO the article at this stage seems to need more proactive support of at least few more Wikipedians in research & copy edit need to join the effort.

If you are unable to spare time you may request some one else interested in women's rights issues.

Thanks & warm regards

Bookku (talk) 07:42, 21 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bookku: I have no idea why you asked me this, as I in no way specialize in or focus on either feminism or Pakistan. WikiProject Feminism exists, perhaps you will ask there. – Athaenara 08:28, 21 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
After your message here, I took a look at the article for the first time and studied the edit history. My first assessment is that this October 2018 page version is noticeably better than the current version. – Athaenara 08:39, 21 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your active support & prompt response. I took some listed users from the project & some from recent changes too, since most users in project list seem inactive. Rest of users have not responded, one active feminist user deleted my message from her talk page as spam on the other hand you happened to at least respond and help a little. It was nice of you

Thanks & warm regards Bookku (talk) 11:50, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Bookku: I've provided no active support to your endeavor, and it is wrong to claim otherwise. I disapprove of your canvassing, very nearly deleted your message from this page, and suggest that you stop. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a social media platform to exploit for publicity for your pet causes. – Athaenara 03:44, 23 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for misunderstanding without any arguments, I do have habit of thanking every one for every bit of action including for criticism because I take all that positively as my process of learning.

Actually some one did put remark on other related article that it did not provide enough relevant information then I realized to provide more information we need to update Feminism in Pakistan. Irrespective my personal misgiving about introductory part, I took on myself improve other sections. While doing that I realized it is lot of work & I can not do it alone, so thought I can request for few more hands to join in.

Please do not take this as an argument against your view since I am still learning, While requesting more hands I thought I need to give a reason for need of improvements to the article. Neither do I expect non neutral position nor without any proper research & referencing.

Since you say there may be some deficiency in my message the way it is written to seek support. I would welcome any suggestions to improve the message acceptable to you and others too.

I hope you will not mind me thanking you just like that.

Question related to deletion of article

hello sir, with good faith may I know why my article Vilen (singer) had been deleted. Or if I did any mistake in the article then you please allow me to correct my mistake by providing the content so that I created the article once again with following WP: policy and notablity of living person. AR.Dmg (talk) 01:00, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@AR.Dmg: The reason it was tagged {{Db-band}} for speedy deletion per WP:CSD#A7 was clearly explained in User:STATicVapor's message posted on your talk page at 21:22, 2 May 2019 (UTC).[reply]
I deleted it per WP:CSD#G11 as well because it was obviously an attempt to advertise: the only references you used were youtube and commercial streaming services Gaana.com, Spotify, and iTunes. – Athaenara 04:44, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Would you please consider reversing the speedydelete and salting on Greg Marchand (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)? The article has been completely rewritten with new national coverage. The article was composed after the subject was in the news twice in the recent past for the Phoenix Hacienda Sexual Abuse Case as well as the Chandler Regional Dropped Baby Case, both of which were in the national news. I believe the rewrite corrected the issues of being commercial or advertisement, and included significant representations of controversy and negative press. Please consider an Articles for Deletion discussion instead. I have no relationship with subject but have published articles on the above two controversies and the subject in other press. Thank You! Obama8398 (talk) 17:52, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am uncertain if you were listing the research as a reply, if I am jumping the gun and you have not had a chance to reply please accept my apologies. I am aware of all of the research you have listed, I researched it myself. Some time ago some of the medical students involved with these doctors began making pages. This was previously discussed with Doc James (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). If you follow the story through, ultimately, Jytdog (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), who felt very strongly about morcellation and the harm these doctors were doing, ran an investigation and declared all of the students logging in from the same institute as sockpuppets. I am aware of all this history and in no way related to it. I fixed the page and removed the bias and updated it. If your position is that the subject is permanently banned from having a wikipedia page secondary to these events please say so. Otherwise just bypassing the discussion on a newly written article may not be inappropriate. Thank You. Obama8398 (talk) 17:12, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Obama8398: Which account were you using when you "fixed the page and removed the bias and updated it"? – Athaenara 20:47, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Athaenara: I didn't use an account I used microsoft word. I have a great draft I can send you if you would like to look at it. I cannot post it because the page is salted. Should I email it to you and you can decide if the errors are corrected, then you can decide what to do? Obama8398 (talk) 22:42, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Obama8398: No, you should not email it to me. One way is to put it into User:Obama8398/sandbox and then ask people at WikiProject Articles for creation to review your efforts. Be sure to tell them the entire context (you can link the discussion here if you like): it will be easy for them to find out and will look better for you if you haven't withheld that. – Athaenara 01:57, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Athaenara: Sounds like a good plan. Can you show me how to link to this conversation so I can show them I really did talk to an admin about this? Obama8398 (talk) 02:34, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Obama8398: Exactly like this: User talk:Athaenara#Greg Marchand. – Athaenara 03:05, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Athaenara: Thank You! Appreciate your help! Obama8398 (talk) 05:04, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Obama8398: Your draft page was almost exactly identical to the Greg J. Marchand page which was deleted after a week-long AfD discussion in May 2018. Accordingly deleted per {{db-g4}}. – Athaenara 03:05, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Athaenara,

I noticed that you deleted my draft of the GeoSure Global article under Unambiguous advertising, but I was curious as to why it was removed and what can be done to ensure the article fully adheres to Wikipedia's guidelines in a future iteration. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! DrewA007 (talk) 15:48, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@DrewA007: If your first draft version was a 9.9 on a 1-10 spam scale, the second is a 9.8: not a significant improvement, not an encyclopedia article, and many times worse than the article deleted per AfD in 2016. I don't know your specific connection with or interest in the company but you've been writing spam, and I strongly recommend that you stop. Wikipedia is not a free business listing service but an encyclopedia, and that is not a euphemism. – Athaenara 17:27, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

see also: User talk:Seraphimblade/archive 17#‎Rikhi Thakral

Hi, I wanted to find out more information about why Rikhi Thakral was deleted. I tried to clean up the text and ensure that everything was neutral and non-promotional. There are no awards or honors to think to make him sound great. Rather, I tried to give an accurate account of a known philanthropist in the CLMV countries (Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar, and Vietnam) without praising him. Could you give me some guidance so I can fix it? Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by TravisM416 (talkcontribs) 13:30, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm writing to learn more about why Tal Alexanders draft AFC was tagged as being too promotional. I edited the draft to make the tone more neutral and I was hoping to have the opportunity to improve it even more throughout the AFC process. I can understand how his accomplishments can read as promotion and I would like to learn more about how to make this article comply with Wikipedia. Hi @Athaenara,

I notice you deleted an updated draft for Reservations.com

I resubmitted a working draft for review here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:GoldenArchimedes/Reservations.com

The content submitted to Wikipedia for publication is materially different in content, tone and sourcing compared to any prior deleted drafts and addressed all concerns raised in the 2017 deletion discussion. Any hint of advertising or self-promotion was removed prior to submission. If there are any further notes you may have it would be most helpful, however a comparison to any previously submitted version should make clear this is well-sourced and encyclopedic in tone. I look forward to your reply and assistance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GoldenArchimedes (talkcontribs) 14:05, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@GoldenArchimedes: Your draft is virtually identical not only to the previous page you wrote but to pages some of the others wrote. – Athaenara 17:40, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oliver Harris singer - Page Deletion

in re: Oliver Harris (singer) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), Draft:Oliver Harris (singer) (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Hi Athaenara, You deleted the page Oliver Harris singer before I had chance to appeal the Tag. You have deleted the page Oliver Harris singer on the following grounds :-

1. It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

2. It appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement of [cdbaby.com page]. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

With regard to point 2. there was no copyright infringement at all. I wrote all the text personally. I carried out a great deal of research with Oliver Harris over the past month and wrote all the text based on my research. I helped Oliver to set up his profile on [cdbaby.com page] in late May/early June and I supplied the text which you say I have infringed the copyright of. Therefore there is no validity in point 2.

With regard to point 1. there was no intention for it to be unambiguous advertising and if any elements were of such nature due to my inexperience, then I would obviously have changed such elements. It was intended to be encyclopaedic. However I have not been able to do so as you deleted the page before I could make any changes to make it encyclopaedic.

Could you please put the page back up - reinstate it - so that I have the opportunity to make any necessary changes. Thank you for your help. Paul Thompson Paulsequoia (talk) 12:49, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Paulsequoia: You seem to be blithely unaware of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines about promotion, advertising, and conflicts of interest. Accordingly, I posted a {{Uw-coi}} notice for you to study on your talk page. – Athaenara 14:32, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Athaenara, We all have to learn about a variety of things - preferably without being insulted - I am always prepared to learn. I am sorry that you have been unwilling or unable to help me. Many people in Barnsley, Edinburgh, Portugal and other places are interested in Oliver Harris and want to know more about him. People look to Wikipedia for information about interesting and public figures - such as Oliver Harris. Unfortunately you are preventing people from finding out about Oliver Harris when they look for him on Wikipedia. I am at a loss to understand why. You have also totally discouraged me from being a contributor to Wikipedia both financially and editorially. And I cannot understand why you have done this. Perhaps you would like to put up a page on Oliver Harris singer. Many thanks for your help. Take care. Have a great day. Best wishes. This is very unfortunate that experienced editors on Wikipedia discourage new users. I still didn't understand what was promotion in Gandhi Mandela Award article. And how can you decide that i am a paid user. Do you think that Government will pay me for creating an incomplete Wiki page? That was my own interest to create an article for my nation. Now it seems like contributing on Wikipedia is only the wastage of time. Lastin4 (talk) 05:24, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Lastin4: I think WBG's, Bellezzasolo's, and Hammersoft's messages on your talk page are very good, I hope you found them helpful and enlightening. – Athaenara 17:44, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Athaenara, your comment here means a lot to me. I try hard to work with new comers and make them feel welcome, as I feel they are the lifeblood of this project. We are guaranteed to lose editors, even if by unfortunate circumstances. I know the learning curve on this project has become very, very steep. It's difficult for a new user to overcome this. Lastin4 is frustrated. I can understand it. A person motivated enough to have found Jimbo's talk page and complain about things here is frustrated indeed. That's not your fault of course. I know you did the right thing. I just wish it were easier for newcomers here. --Hammersoft (talk) 17:59, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Hammersoft: You are welcome. It reminds me of my own steep learning curve as a newcomer when I was getting on some experienced editors' nerves because I didn't want a sandbox and used my talk page for that as I began building a signature gallery. I thought it was important to add to one page in mainspace that it was the one millionth Wikipedia article, and various other comedies and tragedies. It was all good, my mistakes exposed me to both the hardliners who slapped down newbie antics and the more patient people, like you. – Athaenara 18:35, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, You've just deleted the article Rusul Alnuaimi, I provided my points why it shouldn't be deleted in the article talk page, the speedy deletion claims that it is a promotional article, could you please point to section(s) that is promotional? it is a biography of a living person with cites! HitomiAkane (talk) 08:10, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@HitomiAkane: It was unambiguous advertising and promotion as specified in WP:CSD#G11. It may or may not surprise you that many of the pages deleted from Wikipedia are biographies of living persons "with cites" when they are obviously intended to advertise those persons while failing to establish notability as per the Wikipedia:Notability (people) guideline. – Athaenara 18:18, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Athaenara:, and thank you for your patience.
I don't think that there was a conflict of interest, no one asked me or paid me to write the article, the person subject of the article is a public figure and well known in UAE with a significant coverage in media and doesn't need an extra publicists, I think she meet the following notability guideline points:
"Significant coverage", "Reliable", "Independent of the subject" and "Presumed" Cites are more than a trivial mention from independent and governmental sources.
Would you please reconsider the article or at least re-edit it in proper way, Thank you for your time. HitomiAkane (talk) 19:33, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this account was opened by our intern, who suggested it and started the process. When we took over, we opened an account for us. However, we tried hard to stick what other databases share and make it neutral and useful information. If we understand what triggered the deletion exactly, I am sure, we can fix it. We believe we are relevant by now, because ObjectBox is used by more than 150k developers (for free) and db-engines lists us already too. About a deleted page

Hello. I opened a page named 'Arif Azad' few months ago. I was told that it was deleted by you.

The reason for the deletion was, "it was constantly created and deleted before". Last time I created it was almost a year ago. That time, references and writing style wasn't good, okay. But the previous time, I gave appropriate references (such as BBC and other Bengali newspapers) yet the page was deleted without considering anything. I was even notified at first that the page was reviewed and it was okay. But afterwards, a user named AaronWikia left me a message that the page was nominated for deletion.

Arif Azad is the all-time bestselling author in Bangladesh, so he's notable and if the references are correct, I don't think there should be any other reason not to keep this in Wikipedia. I hope I will be allowed to re-open that page. Thank you.The revealer (talk) 06:44, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@The revealer: As the logs show, the article was deleted four times: by Daniel Case, Bbb23, Spartaz, and me. The draft was deleted once, by me, after you added a speedy deletion tag. – Athaenara 08:13, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'm asking you because you deleted it the last time when it was the best. So can I re-open it?The revealer (talk) 13:56, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I studied what you've written and considered it again in light of your request. I checked for other sources, and of those in the English language found only ungrammatical and promotional blog-type entries which seemed written by a fan or an agent. It doesn't look promising, but you can try again if you wish. – Athaenara 21:08, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I understand you have deleted the this page Ben_Towers? May I understand why this has happened as the page was simply convaying the life achievemnets of an entrepreneur? It may seem like promotion but it is just highlighting the journey the entreprenur has had to take. — Preceding unsigned comment added by btowers115 (talkcontribs) 19:37, 06 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Btowers115: The first Ben Towers page you wrote had a single source, the subjects own web design page. It was proposed for deletion and deleted in May 2013.
Here's some of the text you offered in the page you wrote in Wikipedia:talk space: "Since we started in 2011, our agency has grown ... you can trust our team ... Our team has expanded rapidly ... everything we create ... our talented team ... give us a call" etc. Nothing there was suitable for an encyclopedia article. It was sourced only to the subject's own website and was deleted in November 2014.
The Ben Tower page written by Brandonlobar (talk · contribs) (a Ben Towers employee?) was more elaborate but many of the citations used were negligible: pages which didn't mention Towers, expired 404s, promotions which linked back to Towers' own pages, etc. It was tagged for speedy deletion per {{db-g11}} and deleted in May 2019.

I saw the message you drop on my talk page regarding this page. Firstly I don’t have any relationship with him but as a public figure I know him but he doesn’t know me. I only see him on TV because he is an entertainer. But some of the artistes in his record label has a Wikipedia page why is his case different. I have made some research about him and yes he is notable. I have read the deletion discussion of his page and The only thing I noticed is that the name used to create the page is not notable so I decided to move it to draft so as to change the name, only to discover there is a draft about him with the name that is notable, but it has been long the editor worked on it so I have to delete it the content and change the name. The next day I discovered that an admin has deleted both the page and the deleted page I restored. I also saw your message about conflicts of interest but I have no relationship with him on anybody close to him. If you wish to edit here, you need to understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia (it is not a euphemism) and edit accordingly. It wasn't all wasted effort, as you did learn how to use an {{Infobox person}} and wikilinks, but there was no encyclopedic content to be salvaged. – Athaenara 12:44, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please explain?

Thanks SJ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scrapjaw (talkcontribs) 07:21, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Scrapjaw: Wikipedia is not a business listing service. I don't know where you got the very wrong idea that there is anything encyclopedic about content like this:
From the draft: "As companies grow, we assist them with a full complement of services to help them reach their goals every step of the way."
From the article: "As companies grow we help them reach their goals every step of the way."
Wikipedia is actually an encyclopedia. That is not a euphemism. – Athaenara 15:55, 11 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Athaenara: I know its not a business listing service. I just found that this company doesn't have a wikipedia page. so i thought of creating it as i am working for the same company.

So why is it that each company has its page listed in wiki? e.g. google, microsoft??

Hello, thanks a lot for your suggestions on the work specific within Wikipedia. I would like to note that my only intention was to correct some aspects of the related article, which from my point of view was not right (categories, references…), then, I decided to develop the article by adding of some information that related to the Company, which I considered neutral, without any promotion and publicity. I have followed the Wikipedia rules and I reviewed the Microsoft, Endava, Apple and Dell pages (that contain the same information). In addition, was interested to continue the work on improving the article. I even willing to provide a new version of the article Sabrina.ok (talk) 17:04, 3 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Sabrina.ok: The page was initiated in May 2019 by user Anisoara Popovici, a single-purpose account which was apparently registered solely to write about the company. The page was brief and factual and escaped further scrutiny until your edits two days ago nearly tripled its length with history, "Products and technologies", and "Key customers" sections, etc., in a rather promotional tone. It was tagged and deleted per {{db-g11}} as unambiguous advertising or promotion a few hours later.
What is your relationship with the company? – Athaenara 17:08, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to assure you that I have no any connections with the company, with reference to which the dispute arose. When I browsing the net, I found a competition organized by Innovate Finance, link Innovate Finance, and there I identified several finalists which have been nominee at different categories. On wiki found an article about Divido Company and the draft of the article for Salt Edge Inc. And thus, I decided to interfere with some changes and I continue with the completings for Salt Edge Inc.--Sabrina.ok (talk) 20:19, 7 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Athaenara - the Abass Dodoo Wikipedia draft page has strictly followed the same editing as evident on his fellow band members pages: Ginger Baker, Pee Wee Ellis and Alec Dunkirk

see https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Ginger_Baker; "His autobiography Hellraiser was published in 2009.[1] Throughout 2013 and 2014, he toured with the Ginger Baker Jazz Confusion, a quartet comprising Baker, saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis, bassist Alec Dankworth, and percussionist Abass Dodoo. In 2014 Baker signed with Motéma Music to release the album Why?[34]" - please explain why Abass Dodoo cannot have his own Wikipedia page like his fellow band members, especially as he is even mentioned on other people's Wikipedia pages.

See also https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Alfred_%22Pee_Wee%22_Ellis "Since 2012 Ellis has been touring with the Ginger Baker Jazz Confusion, a quartet comprising Ellis, drummer Ginger Baker, bassist Alec Dankworth and percussionist Abass Dodoo."

Hi Athaenara. A block after only one edit? Is there something I am missing here? If it's a WP:BEANS/WP:DENY/[[WP:Something I shouldn't be meddling with]] thing that's fine, but that seems rather quick on the draw. Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 10:31, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Shirt58: My perspective: it's not a block on an editor but on an account. It's not a permanent ban but a block of an indefinite period of time, subject to appeal and negotiation. Far more often than not, whoever registered such an account considers it disposable and doesn't even bother with an unblock request. – Athaenara 19:52, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Quite off topic, I think permanent block is too much on this user. Obviously, user did many promotional edits but all edits are like these and editor is new; it’ll take time to learn. They uploaded copyrighted photos on commons which I got deleted. Block them for one month which is enough. Consider to block permanently if this behaviour continues after revocation of block. This is just suggestion, you’re admin and experienced and thus, it’s your choice after all. — Harshil want to talk? 14:54, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The {{Infobox user}} template is used on thousands of user pages. It's probably not surprising if a new user tries it out for the first time after having seen it on another user's page, but if you feel threatened by it in some way you can ask that user about it directly on their own talk page and/or post your concern on Wikipedia talk:User pages or perhaps WP:AN. – Athaenara 18:23, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Donia Massoud

see also: Draft:Donia Massoud (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs), fr.wikipedia.org/Donia_Massoud

IMO, that block of User:Donia massoud was BITEy as all hell. She created an autobiography in draft space, and it admittedly wasn't a great article, but the draft wasn't doing any harm. IMO (admittedly as someone much less experienced than you), letting her stick around (and, hopefully, help improve the article though our normal COI mechanisms) would have been just fine. I'm not immediately convinced that the article failed GNG—frwiki and arwiki both cited sources that I wasn't familiar with, but seemed to be substantial and third-party. (CC: User:MoonyTheDwarf) Gaelan 💬✏️ 16:59, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Gaelan, Yea.. The block was a tad sudden. I'd have given them time to figure out the difference between frwiki and enwiki's rules, as apparently that draft was a direct translation of the frwiki article? --MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) (talk) 17:00, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Gaelan and MoonyTheDwarf: It is a block on an account, not on an editor, and for an indefinite period of time, subject to discussion and negotiation as usual, not a permanent ban. As to whether it's an autobiography, I don't know either way. – Athaenara 17:20, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Athaenara, as far as I can tell, WP:BLOCK has a rule against block evasion—seems like a block on an editor to me. And the fact remains that, appealable or not, we left a bad first impression. Gaelan 💬✏️ 17:55, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

One more promotional account

Hi Athaenara, have a look at Princehr999 which is promotional account to make page of Godman Kumar Swami. I did some clean up like removing honorifics and titles of God like Brahmrishi, Shri, Ji from the article per WP:NCIN and humbug claims like day is celebrated as Kumar Swami day in USA. This account is not stopping here. Most of his contributions are to this page and asking help to promote his won Godman. Apart from this, he uploaded photograph on the Wikimedia commons to which is of this person. Kindly, take some action on this account as you are prolific in finding SPA and spam only account. Thanks, -- Harshil want to talk? 12:42, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Please look at my account details. I have not done any promotional activity. I would like to point some important things here:
I never portrayed the subject as a Godman. The way this user Harshil169 used this word Godman is a clear hint that he is having some personal problem with the subject of the article.
The article I created, it took me around 10 days to do thorough research. I am not associated to the subject in any way, but yes I do know him because he is a famous personality in India as well in US. This prompted me to create a page. I tried my best to search for reliable references. My article was reviewed and edited several times by a Wikipedia expert CaptainEek, who accepted the article after being thoroughly satisfied.
None of the claims are humbug. I have attached reliable sources with each important claim. The New York State Senate has passed a resolution in the subject's honor.
I never used the word Godman or tried to portray him as such. I am also asking this user Harshil169 to discuss the shortcomings so that I may improve. But instead he straight away placed it for deletion.
Is that what experienced Wikipedians do ? Isn't that a clear indication that this user is having negative emotions towards the subject ?
I demand to know what are the problems in this article. I am committed to improving it to the best of my capability.
You certainly cannot allow users like Harshil169 to take undue advantage of their editing privileges. I accept I am new at article creation, but the quality of article was also appreciated by CaptainEek. Please help to improve the protection level of this article. This user has deleted some important lines from the article to degrade the article quality. Thanks and I do hope your impartial response in this regard. I would also like to clarify that Brahmarshi is not a title for a Godman, it is a title for a saint or a sage or people of that genre. 'Shree' and 'Ji' are also not used for Godman. And regarding the photo, I sent a personal mail to the organization of this subject, taking permission to use for Wikipedia. So I don't have any personal copyrights to this pic. You can consult the technical team. The copyright holder is the organization of this subject, not me.
I am defending this article in the best of my capability, not trying to promote it. I am willing to improve the article, but I can't do so unless this user is willing to discuss. He is bent on getting the page deleted, for no apparent reason. Princehr999 (talk) 18:37, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Someone trying to forcibly delete an artice

Hi, I have recently created a page for a living person which got accepted today. The subject's name is Brahmrishi Shree Kumar Swami Ji. I created the page and it was edited and reviewed and finally accepted by a Wikipedia administrator. But soon after page got published, a user called Harshil169 is creating unnecessary problems. He changed the article title, and removed some content, and requested it to get deleted. I am trying to discuss with him the reason behind it, but he is not ready to discuss. He is engaging me in a war of words and complaining my behavior to other admins. I don't understand his problem. On the article talk page, his response clearly hints at some personal grievance he is having with the subject of the article. I am new at article creation. This is my first article which has been created with much research. I don't want someone to make spam edits or accuse me of a conflict of interest and get it deleted. Please help me to know what can be done to improve the protection level of the article page. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Princehr999 (talkcontribs) 14:37, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Harshil169 and Princehr999: The best place for this sort of discussion is probably the conflict of interest noticeboard, WP:COIN, not my user talk page. – Athaenara 20:02, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, I’ll go there now. I was not sure that this user will come here.— Harshil want to talk? 23:11, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Arab American University

in re: Arab American University (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) (AAUJweb on Commons)

Hi, Why did you delete the Arab American University? Maybe the article was bad...but the University is clearly notable, just look at the commons category, Cheers, Huldra (talk) 20:08, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Huldra: The reason is clearly visible in the page logs. It looked like an institution's own homepage, not an encyclopedia article with evidence of notability. – Athaenara 20:30, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Then why not remove the offending stuff, and not delete the whole article? Do you really think that the place is non-noteworthy? Cheers, Huldra (talk) 20:34, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Huldra: I agree with the {{db-g11}} tag Ohconfucius added to it today: it was department listings, course listings, homepage links for each department used as section headings, etc. It could hardly have been worse. If a good encyclopedia entry demonstrating notability could be written about it, I would certainly not delete such a page, but that's merely hypothetical.. – Athaenara 20:42, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Could you not have waited at least 24 hours, so that we could have a chance to improve it? After all, that article have existed since at least 2014, why the rush? Huldra (talk) 21:19, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Huldra: You wrote, "the University is clearly notable, just look at the commons category", neglecting to mention that it was populated largely from an account with an obvious conflict of interest. – Athaenara 00:50, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I noted that (though there are also pictures in that cat. from other users). However, did you note that "Arab American University" have an article on 6 other Wikipedias? Including Hebrew, Arabic, French and German? And just looking at the size of the buildings would indicate (at least to me!) that this was a notable institution, Huldra (talk) 21:52, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you deleted This article. There was nothing promotional according to my knowledge. However some words could be changed in better way though. Dharmamulla (talk) 22:00, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Dharmamulla: It was spam, as you know (review the AfD). You removed the speedy deletion tags several times: what are your connections to Asli Daud and to user Dex1122? – Athaenara 00:40, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Company page has been removed and need your help to revert it back

Hi Athaenara,

Our MetricStream company page was removed for being unambiguously promotional and/or advertorial and we would like to say we didn't do any content edits on the page from our company side. We need you help to restore our page with the older version which we had earlier.

Deletion of Grace Ihejiamaizu

Hello, Athaenara, following from your contributions, I can see you're very busy. Can you restore/move the deleted page to draft so I can try and rework on it? I worked on the page following guideline from a previous page, and a good amount of the wordings there actually came from a more experienced author. I see no other useful positive way out on the issue except I can actually get to rewrite it correctly and have it approved all over again hopefully more carefully by a more experience author this time. And after, I can notify you to review it? Opatachibueze (talk) 17:04, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Opatachibueze:  Done, but no, I won't be a reviewer. – Athaenara 20:58, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Gambling spam

possibly about Izumianantari (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) (meta)

I see that this is the second time that this gambling spam has been added to enWP in about a month. I have globally blacklisted, pretty certain that none of us need it. — billinghurst sDrewth 14:29, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Billinghurst: Which gambling spam was that? – Athaenara 19:33, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
One that another reverted and you blocked, but not to worry, it was an in-passing comment. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:51, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Billinghurst: Why mention it without saying who or what it is? – Athaenara 00:29, 16 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

100 year lifestyle spam

Page deleted

Hello Athaenara,

We have recently uploaded a file for creating a page for our brand The 100 Year Lifestyle. The page as been rejected/deleted by you for promoting or something of that nature. As this the first time we upload our content for ourselves, there is no intention to violate the Wikipedia policies here. The 100 Year Lifestyle is a respectable online magazine with over 2 million views per year (and growing).

We would appreciate it if you could tell us which part of our content was violating the promotion policies so we could edit it the right way. We will then submit again with the requested modification.

Thank you!

@100yearlifestyle: I recommend that you post your concerns on the COIN. – Athaenara 08:23, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
100 YLS Page Deletion

Good afternoon,

We were wondering if you had any specific wording or paragraphs to point out that sounded like self-promotion so we can fix and re-upload the article. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100yearlifestyle (talkcontribs) 15:14, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@100yearlifestyle: I recommended last month that you raise your concerns at the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard, and I see that you never did that. At any rate, I no longer use administrator tools (see previous "Not admining any more" discussion) and can tell you nothing about content that has been deleted. – Athaenara 20:12, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Athaenara, you deleted a page on Fati Washa on 30th October 2019 citing that the page is Unambiguous advertising or promotion. I can't recall what was on there but please do let me know how we can edit to get the page back online. It takes a while to get the content in there, so if there's any chance we can get it back and then make edits, I will also be happy to start from scratch. Thank you very much

@Abbasheshe: Who is "we"? The page you wrote was identical to pages written from two other accounts. – Athaenara 19:55, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Athaenara: I have nothing to do with the article that was created by Fackson dyy, I did not even know the user you said my article is identical to his article, I have checked none has written article onFati Washa, So please can recreate this article and submit it for review? Thank you Abbasheshe (talk) 12:20, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Abbasheshe: The evidence, which any Wikipedia administrator can see when comparing Fackson dyy's Draft:Fati Washa and your Fati Washa, belies your claim. And no, I will not re-create spam. – Athaenara 21:22, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Request

Hi I'm (F5pillar). I just notice that a page title (Fati Washa) was deleted by you as promotional tag. With due respect I didn't even know that page was ever created and i was writing the project before finally I search to see if page like that may be already is in WP that's when am finally done with writing of the article in my project note. At first were I believed the page look like promotional article is from the title (Fati Washa) that's not the real name of it, the real name there is (Fatima Abdullahi) a film she was main character called Washa which mean open teeth in Hausa movie known as (Hausa cinema or Kannywood). I don't know if the person that created this page is closely related to the page but if you can permit me to rewrite the article since I have already started the project before knowing it exist in WP or bring back the page so I could look up to see if i can clean son mess in it and rearranged it as an Actress Bio. Much regards (F5pillar 07:26, 2 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The page is not in WP, i mean my android note appilcation which is used to write article and later if am done I'll search for it in WP if its exist before pushing it to WP as an article. But I haven't write any things like this (Fati Washa ) in WP so if you can permit me to rewrite it in WP or I should use my sandbox to show you. Regards (F5pillar 10:14, 3 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
