Badi Maa
[edit]While patrolling the speedy deletion queue, I came across an article you created, Badi Maa (1945 film) which was nominated for deletion as a duplicate of Badi Maa which you also created. We could do with more articles on women guitarists Ipigott. You or Rosiestep feel like creating a list?♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:12, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Megalibrarygirl: is the guru of list creation so pinging her, too. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:28, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- List of women guitarists would be really quite useful.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:30, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Ipigott and Rosiestep:, You'd rather a separate list, or add to the women in music list? I'll see what I can dig up. :D Megalibrarygirl (talk) 15:40, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- I think there's probably enough to qualify for its own page. I've made a start anyway!♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:41, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

Category:Female guitarists. Ipigott is also great with such lists. There should be missing articles in the list too.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:48, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- The list should probably be reserved mainly for soloists or proper guitarists, not every woman in a band who happens to strum the instrument very basically. Perhaps we should keep it to List of women classical guitarists?♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:58, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- The list looks great so far! I added some classical guitar redlinks to our Women in music list. :D Megalibrarygirl (talk) 16:05, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- Cheers. I think I'll move it to List of women classical guitarists. That way we avoid mixing in the very basic ones who happen to strum in a band with the proper professionals.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:06, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

Electra
[edit]I've made a start on translating the German entry. Nice little project. But I'm having trouble with a sentence:
- "Nach einem Blitzeinschlag brannten Strohdächer der Kulissen ab"
- which means something along the lines
- "After a lightning strike the thatched roofs of the scenery were destroyed by fire"
- Question: Was this an accident while filming, or is it a scene from the director's version of the Electra story?
If you've seen the film, you'll probably know the answer already. If not I can always ask Mr Lugnuts who's done most of the previous work on the entry and looks to be a(nother) movie buff. If all else fails I will go back and ask Dr Google at greater length than till now I did. But I thought asking Dr Blofeld might be quicker! And thank you for thinking about it.
Regards Charles01 (talk) 17:19, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
Thanks Charles, Lugnuts? I can't remember seeing a fire in the film, but it's quite likely that they were destroyed during production and they had to rebuild it?♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:53, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

After the film caught my fancy, I decided to start a GA-improvement. After some copyedits by Diannaa, I went ahead and nominated it just now. Since I noticed you uploaded the infobox image of the films DVD cover, I figured you might have an interest in the motion picture, and was hoping you would review the short article. Let me know. Best, Jonas Vinther • (Click here to collect your prize!) 15:20, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
Film any good? I've not seen it. I only added the image after Lugnuts started it. I used to do that at random quite a lot.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:22, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
Offhand it looks too short to be GA level. There should be more on it in German newspapers which can be gleaned. Right ChrisGualtieri? A minimum one would have a fair sized reception with critical quotes and commentary and at least a paragraph summarizing its production.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:23, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- I assume you mean Danish, not German newspapers. :) Regarding the articles length, I've brought shorter articles to GA-status (Erhard Heiden, Maria Limanskaya, Columbus Globe for State and Industry Leaders). And yes, the film is very good. A classic Korch film. If you wish to see sometime, let me know and I'll upload the film to YouTube or mail you a stream-able version. Best, Jonas Vinther • (Click here to collect your prize!) 23:33, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- Would be good to see it sometime. :-) Perhaps Ipigott could find something on it if its Danish? The current article isn't resourceful enough for GA. We have more detailed ones on lost silent films from the 1910s!♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:41, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- Haven't been able to find much in Danish. There are a few details here and I see it was released as a cleaned-up DVD in 2004. Couldn't find any critical assessments. It looks to me as if the essentials are already covered in the article. There are also a few details on its reception here.--Ipigott (talk) 15:21, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Will Randall
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Will Randall requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. User:FuriouslySerene, I'm starting to get HappilyPissedoff with you ;-). User:Boleyn made a list of the museums needing expansion, why not just take them all to AFD instead of prodding me for every single one?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:02, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
FuriouslySerene, it's User:Boleyn/List of museum articles tagged for notability if you're interested. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 20:24, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Dr. Blofeld: + @Boleyn: Sorry, I didn't know about that list! Just came across both at the same time. Didn't mean to spam up your page or pile on. Looks like some of them do have sources so I don't think I'd nominate them all at once though. I think they'd likely need to be considered case by case, from what I can tell. No hard feelings I hope... FuriouslySerene (talk) 21:55, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
- They were started from a hotlist drawn up by the museum project for Greek Heritage I think. The list strongly inferred that they were all notable museums and recognized as such by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. Very stubby and useless as they are, but the idea was that the museum project got expanding. It didn't happen. Most of them could be saved I'm sure, but it's a case of who is going to want to put the work in. A few have been expanded, like Folklore Museum of Velventos. I thought Rosiestep had an updated list saved somewhere. I'm sure Nvvchar would happily tackle a few more, but not that amount.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:58, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
I would agree that they should be looked at case-by-case. I've taken a small number to AfD and some have been deleted/redirected but most have been kept after improvements. For anything non-English language, I personally favour AfD as I can't easily rule out missing non-English sources. I wouldn't expect you to know about the list at all - I don't think it's attracted anyone to work on the articles other than Dr Blofeld and me. I have posted at Wikiproject Museums but got no response. Thanks for taking the time to look them over; many have been tagged for notablity for a long time, and need some TLC and evaluating. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 22:04, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Nvvchar and Aymatth tackled a few but are obviously unwilling to tackle the amount needed as I'm not. You'll find as Boleyn says, most are expandable with only a limited number of duds. The problem though is who is going to expand them!♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:06, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
- I will see if I can pick off a few. But I can't be seen editing too many article, I have to keep up appearances. --kelapstick(bainuu) 22:09, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
- I have absolutely no motivation at the moment to expand any of them even a bit, so that's much appreciated.♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:12, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Arc-en-Ciel

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Hi, I just wrote this article for the Women in Red's Women in Music virtual editathon. I wonder if you could dig up a free picture of these two at their pianos? Thanks for your help, Yoninah (talk) 01:52, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
Yoninah Done, great job!♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:25, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks so much! BTW, his name was Robertson, not Robinson. (I made the same mistake while I was writing it.) I'll try to ask for a page move at Commons. Thanks again! Yoninah (talk) 20:14, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
- I added links to some photos. Not sure that will help. A record label might be used, too. 7&6=thirteen (☎)

Spanish churches etc
[edit]Hi, In case you go on another spree of creating religious building articles, please don't leave the original titles untranslated. It should be Sant Pau, Fontclara or "Church of Sant Pau, Fontclara", but not "Sant Pau de Fontclara" (that's a Rosiestep one). Now people are going round moving other Spanish churches, claiming these as precedent. Thanks Johnbod (talk) 18:50, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
Johnbod Highly unlikely I'm going to create another article at the moment, let alone a spree of religious buildings.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:19, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for January 21
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Pat Martino, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page 48th Street (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

[edit]Hi there. Thanks for taking an interest in the article - but you shouldn't ask me to do things if you're going to do them yourself. Didn't notice your edit until I'd done mine. Now we have two maps. Take your pick.--Ipigott (talk) 16:17, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
I'm not "going to do it myself". I think it looks better without maps or photographs of barely related cities. I think I'll pass on this GA review now and ask Jaguar.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:20, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
- Too bad. I hope you'll reconsider. I had no idea the article was already under review. I thought the map I added would at least show where the Mederdra department was situated (and Rosso where she did her teaching diploma). But I certainly would not have added it if I had seen your edit. I think we were perhaps both reacting too quickly. My sincere apologies.--Ipigott (talk) 16:43, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
- I think it looks better without a national map and barely related images of towns, but I did say you could probably get away with a regional locator of where she is from. I added one as a compromise here, but unfortunately you missed it and proceeded to add a second map in the lede. I didn't ask you to do anything, I was speaking to myself! I personally think it looks better with no map, but it's your article, readd the regional one if you like, that at least had more use to the reader. When I removed the maps/images I hadn't realized you'd added them, I see now that Rosie also removed one or two earlier on the same concern. For me personally, and I say personally as others might disagree, when somebody adds a country map or unrelated cities in a biography it sorts of screams "this is an obscure person from an obscure country that nobody has ever heard of". .♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:58, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Unfortunately you don't respond well whenever there's a disagreement. I genuinely had no idea you'd just added an image, I simply started the review after doing Smith and began looking at it and saw a heck of a lot of clutter (two photographs, one map and a quote box) in the shortish early life section which looked redundant to me. It was most certainly not my intention to boss anybody about, but I just aired my thoughts on it and then did a compromise. As I had begun reviewing the article for GA, such comments/edits are always intended in good faith as part of the review and I wouldn't assume the critical stance in regular editing. As I can see you don't take that sort of thing well I abandoned the review.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:31, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Your essay about problems at WP
[edit]Excellent. Happened upon it by a series of tangents and ended up reading the whole thing. I've encountered many of these problems and mostly I agree with you. One thing, I think, important to keep in mind is something I was taught along time ago in regard to communication: something like 80 percent of it is from non-verbal cues (when in person). I reckon it gets even more dicey interpreting the intensions of others in situations here, being typed out on keypads. If one misinterprets an editor's intended playfulness as something hostile, they're likely to respond "in kind" (or, even more likely, to get the hell away from them, and maybe out of editing altogether). So, all I'm saying is, it's just that much trickier communicating on line than in person. Anyway, I found your essay to be quite inciteful and understandable. Thanks for writing it. Hi Dr. Blofeld. I saw that you had an interest in movies and thought you may be able to join this discussion on The Hollywood Reporter Talk page. It seems to have gone stagnant for almost a month. David King, Ethical Wiki (CorporateM) (Talk) 06:39, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- Not sure if this is up your alley, but Barry O'Callaghan could use a pair of eyes with BLP in mind. It has stuff like "We did the milk round... you'd listen to some boring fart..." Many of the sources for criticisms about how he lost his fortune betting on the future of publishing don't actually mention him or are poor sources for other reasons. I'll dig into this eventually in my COI role, but that will take months and I figured it could really use some immediate BLP review from an editor that can edit boldly. Pinging @FreeRangeFrog: as well, since he has an interest in BLP issues. David King, Ethical Wiki (CorporateM) (Talk) 17:16, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
