Luigi's Mansion

[edit]

Should the Luigi's Mansion series have its own page? After all, it is considered a major Nintendo series. MarioFyreFlower (talk) 17:40, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 6 December 2021

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: No consensus to move. One person wanted the series moved but not the game, one preferred the opposite, the proposer wanted both and one person wanted neither. I think this proposal could've really used a wider audience, but... Maybe next time? (non-admin closure) Red Slash 22:02, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

– It is the overall consensus (see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video Games#"Luigi series"?) that there is not a generally accepted "Luigi series" and that this list is better off changed in scope to only encompass Luigi's Mansion, which is currently a series in itself. As the original Luigi's Mansion and Luigi's Mansion 3 are similar in pageviews, there is no clear primary topic, so the series page should be primary, as with many other similar series articles. • Alternate Move: Move List of Luigi video games to Luigi's Mansion (series), and oppose second move. Luigi's Mansion 3 is known as, er, "Luigi's Mansion 3" - pageviews are comparable with the first game, but there's no reason to think that readers who want the third game are looking it up under "Luigi's Mansion" with no numeral. The current series article / List of Luigi video games has a third to a quarter the page views of the first/third games (pageviews), so absolutely does not deserve the spot of the base Luigi's Mansion title. It's not a very substantial or notable series article; it's not like larger franchises where there's something to say about the franchise as a whole. (Note that if alternate move doesn't happen, I do favor zxcvnbnm's proposal over the status quo so as to reorient the series article to not be an indiscriminate list of games with Luigi, just don't agree with the series article taking the basename.) Oppose, complete misreading of the "consensus" (more accurately, lack of settled consensus) at the linked WTVG discussion. I think "games that include Luigi as main character" is a good topic for a list and it's not solely Luigi's Mansion games. Neither the current title, nor the alternate title I proposed, "List of video games featuring Luigi", implies that a "Luigi series" exists so I don't think that's a convincing reason to move away from status quo. Axem Titanium (talk) 21:52, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree with the assessment that we need an list about games that feature Luigi as a character. Why does Luigi warrant a standalone list? Does reliable source frequently and significantly discuss "games feautring Luigi as central characters"? Even if "status quo" remains, why can't this whole article be merged back to the character article? I am not seeing why this article should exist if it is not repurposed into a series article about Luigi's Mansion. OceanHok (talk) 05:41, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment, while I'm not going to !vote on whether I support or oppose the move, I do say that really the only "Luigi" series that exists is Luigi's mansion. Luigi's Hammer Throw I'm not sure if I would really consider it a game due to it being on the Game and Watch which is basically just a "watch" that has something you can do on it, Mario Is Missing MAYBE would be part of a Luigi series if one develops. Dr. Luigi appears to simply be Dr. Mario but with Luigi instead of Mario, created for the "Year of Luigi". Super Luigi U again, MAYBE but most likely not for the same reason as Dr. Luigi, I don't think there's enough of a difference to warrant it as a different game. This is just what I think about the game currently listed and I could be wrong, but I just figured I should say this. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:18, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose Just like Wario games, we don't know for a fact how many Luigi video games will be made in the future so it's premature to assume that the only series that he will appear in is Luigi's Mansion. We shouldn't move the page. I do support moving the name to Luigi's Mansion (video game) though. DinosaurPlaneteer (talk) 03:49, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reformat

[edit]

I'm not sure how to but is it possible to align the timeline next to the list of games with details? The way the page currently is, there's a huge white gap, with the timeline on the right and nothing else. It would look better, I think, if the timeline was next to the other information rather than having a gap. ButterCashier (talk) 09:06, 14 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Series article

[edit]

I find myself questioning whether a "Luigi" series exists, and whether the list itself is worthwhile. I think it'd be good to make it Luigi's Mansion-focused, and expand significantly on it. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 16:17, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
