Benedix Ramos (born September 14[a]) is a Filipino actor, singer-songwriter, content creator, and host. He first gained recognition for his portrayal of Aron Villegas in the BL online series Better Days[1] and for his portrayal of Daniel in My Fantastic Pagibig: Ghosted.[2] In 2021, he entered Pinoy Big Brother: Kumunity Season 10 as a celebrity housemate.[3] He made his ABS-CBN television acting debut in 2022 in Love in 40 Days[4] as George Casimiro.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Ramos was born on September 14, 1994 in Dagupan, Pangasinan. After completing his elementary and secondary education in his hometown, he moved to Baguio City for his college education. To fund his college expenses, he joined the world of beauty pageants for men claiming the Mr. Dagupan title in 2017[5] and Mr. HRAB in 2018[6]. He resided in Baguio for a few years before he moved to Manila to pursue a career in Philippine show business.[7]
Career
[edit]2018–2020: Career Beginnings
[edit]In 2018, Ramos started his career in digital content creation when he created a YouTube Channel where he gained public recognition for his vlogs, music covers and self-directed short films.[7] In 2020, he received his Silver Play Button for reaching over 100,000 subscribers on his YouTube Channel.[8] In 2021, he received a Super Influencer award from Tag Media Chicago for his work as a content creator and social media influencer.[9]
In 2020, he released his first single Dito Muna Tayo, the official soundtrack for Dito Muna Tayo (A Quarantine Love Story), a series of YouTube videos produced by Beverly Cumla during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in which Ramos also starred in.
In the same year, he was cast in a lead role as Aron Villegas in the BL online series Better Days, opposite Chester Chua under Unframed Film Production.[1][10] He released another single entitled, Nandito for the BL series' official soundtrack.
2021–Present: PBB and Television Appearances
[edit]In March 2021, Ramos was cast in GMA News TV and GTV's My Fantastic Pag-ibig: Ghosted as Daniel, the leading man's bestfriend[2] where his portrayal garnered him his first PMPC Star Awards for Television nomination for Best New Male TV Personality.[11]
As a commercial model, Ramos was featured in TM Tambayan's TV commercial in 2021 for their 20th year anniversary featuring other Filipino celebrities including SB19, The Juans, Donnalyn Bartolome, Alden Richards, Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin.[12] In the same year, he was featured in Jollibee's TV commercial for their new hamburger, Spicy Champ.[13][14]
In October 2021, Ramos entered the Pinoy Big Brother house for the Kumunity Season 10 edition as an official celebrity housemate after winning the Online Bahay ni Kuya campaign on Kumu.[15][16] He was later evicted in a double eviction round together with his fellow housemate, Shanaia Gomez.[17]
After he was evicted from Pinoy Big Brother in December 2021, Ramos signed as an artist in ABS-CBN's Star Magic and Star Hunt management.[18] Since then, he has made several guest appearances in a variety of shows from ABS-CBN Entertainment including It's Showtime,[19] Maalaala Mo Kaya: Singsing, Maalaala Mo Kaya: Cake, Magandang Buhay and ASAP Natin 'to.[20][21] He also participated in ABS-CBN's online benefit concert, "By Request: A Benefit Concert" for the victims of Super Typhoon Odette.[22][23]
In May 30 2022, Ramos made his television acting debut in ABS-CBN Entertainment when he was cast in Love in 40 Days as George Casimiro, a chauffeur who is a supporting character to the principal casts, Jane Marasigan (Loisa Andalio) and Edward Montemayor (Ronnie Alonte).[4][24]
As an artist of Star Magic and Star Hunt management, Ramos has appeared in many events organized by ABS-CBN. He attended his first Star Magic: All-Star Games in May 2022 and won first runner-up in the badminton category with his mixed doubles partner, Dalia Verde.[25][26] In December 2022, Ramos attended Star Magic's first Star Magical Christmas thanksgiving event[27] and performed with the cast of Love in 40 Days in ABS-CBN's Christmas Special 2022.[28] In May 2023, he attended Star Magic's Hot Summer: LaHot Sexy Party, an event to promote body positivity and celebrate the different sizes, shapes, color, and ages of beauty.[29] In the same year, he attended his first ABS-CBN Ball and walked the white carpet for the second time at Star Magic's Star Magical Christmas 2023.[30]
Ramos is also a regular livestreamer on Kumu and has hosted and guested in several shows on the platform incuding PBB Kumunity G sa Gabi,[31] Top Class,[32] Globe Generation G[33] and Bida Star Versus.[34] In September 2022, he participated in Kumu's 4th year anniversary concert, "Kumu is 4 u" as a performer and host.[35] He also attended Kumu's Diamond Gala the following year to celebrate it's 5th year anniversary.[36]
In 2022, he starred alongside Alexa Ilacad in the music video for her single, Paano.[37] In the same year, he appeared in the music video of Jem Macatuno's single, EDSA with Thamara Alexandria[38] and in The Juans' short film music video, 'Di Mo Na Ako Kailangan with Gillian Vicencio.[39]
In December 2023, he appeared as a guest in I Can See Your Voice with the cast of Tabing Ilog: The Musical.[40]
In 2024, he joined the adventure reality show, Diamond Hunt as a host with Sassa Gurl where livestreamers from Kumu competed against each other to win the grand prize of ₱300,000.[41]
2022–Present: Star Music
[edit]As a recording artist under Star Music, Ramos was featured in One Music PH's live music show series, One Music Live, singing his own renditions of Ikaw at Ako by Moira dela Torre, Isang Araw by Kaye Cal, Isa Pang Ikaw by Justin Vasquez and Sa Mga Bituin Na Lang Ibubulong by JM de Guzman.[42]
In October 2022, he performed as an opening act for BINI's Feel Gool live album showcase that was held in SM North Edsa's Skydome venue.[43]
In November 2022, Ramos released his first single under Star Music, a collaboration with Trisha Denise entitled, Hindi Pa Natin Alam which served as one of the OST of Tara, G!.[44]
In August 2023, he collaborated with Vivoree Esclito to create their own rendition of Matty Juniosa's previous single, Sayaw Ng Mga Tala where Ramos is credited as the writer for the concept of the music video in which he also starred in.[45]
Ramos is a singer-songwriter. In October 2023, he released his debut solo single under Star Music, Hindi Ka Sa Akin which he self-composed. He also co-directed, conceptualized and starred in the music video with Mary Joy Apostol as his leading lady.[46]
He also participated in the extended version of ABS-CBN's 2023 Christmas Station ID, Pasko Ang Pinakamagandang Kwento along with other ABS-CBN artists.[47]
2023–Present: Theater
[edit]Combining his passion for music and acting, Ramos ventured into the world of musical theater making his theatrical debut in 2023 in Ang Huling El Bimbo: The Musical where he was cast as the understudy of Young Anthony "AJ" Cruz, played by Topper Fabregas.[48] With other up-and-coming leading men of Philippine theater, he participated in "Paano ba Maging Leading Man?", a show produced by One Night Stand: A Monthly Cabaret.[49]
Continuing his theatrical endeavors, he played dual roles in PETA's and Teatro Kapamilya’s musical adaptation of ABS-CBN's well-received teen drama TV series, Tabing Ilog, where he played the roles of Rovic (previously played by John Lloyd Cruz in the TV series) and Andoy.[50]
In 2024, it was revealed that Ramos will be participating in the musical adaptation of the critically-acclaimed film, Bar Boys where he will play the lead role of Erik Vicencio (previously played by Carlo Aquino in the film).[51]
