Women in Green's 5th Edit-a-thon
Hello WikiProject Greece:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2023!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2023, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!

Picture identification: A. Papandreou? Papoulias?
Γεια σας!
This is a picture of the (then 12-member) EEC summit at Brussels on 30 June 1987. All major leaders are identified, except the Greek representative, which should be the last man to the right on the front row.
In all likelihood, Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou should have represented Greece, but I'm unable to confirm it for sure seen the low resolution of the picture (and I don't remember he was so short).
Other possible candidates (e.g. in case of some health or political reason preventing him to attend) could be Foreign Minister Karolos Papoulias, Deputy Prime Minister Ioannis Charalambopoulos, or, unlikely, President Christos Sartzetakis. They could also be in the 2nd row.
@Cplakidas and DrKay: you are usually very knowledgeable about such information. Any idea? Place Clichy (talk) 15:06, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Place Clichy: the indicated person looks like neither of the above, and is unfamiliar to me. However, the last person to the right in the rear row (between Chirac and the person indicated) is pretty unmistakeably Theodoros Pangalos, who was Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs at the time IIRC. Constantine ✍ 19:42, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Cplakidas: strange! It could be an ambassador that stood in, if I have to guess. A Christos Zaharakis was Ambassador in Brussels at the time, but to NATO (there are 3 ambassadors in Brussels) and I could not easily find who was Permanent Representative to the European Communities (I believe that was the title) or to Belgium. w.de knows two of them, but for other periods. You are correct that Pangalos was first Υφυπουργός Εξωτερικών and then Αναπληρωτής Υπουργός Εξωτερικών in A. Papandreou's 2nd cabinet according to https://gslegal.gov.gr/?p=1291, a role he also had in the 3rd A. Papandreou Cabinet in 1993. Place Clichy (talk) 21:53, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

Old and new style dates
[C.C. @The Emperor of Byzantium and Red Arrow27:] Editors, a lot of the articles relating to Athens Metro Line 1 have dates that need to be clarified as to whether they use the old style or new style calendar. Greece was one of the last countries in the world to adopt the Gregorian calendar, on 1 March [O.S. 16 February] 1923. --Minoa (talk) 15:48, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Minoa, your right! that did not register in my mind at all! That is an issue indeed, not just for Athens Metro Line 1 but long distance lines in Central and Northern Greece... This will need to applied to a line by line... OH JOY! ✠ Emperor of Byzantium ✠ (talk) 18:24, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
