I updated a section about the history of Waterford City on the Waterford City page and it was removed as it was deemed by someone "not constructive" .
the piece I added was as follows;
Waterford City is unique in that it was the only southern Irish city to not support greater separation from the United Kingdom In the 1918 general election when Irish Parliamentary Party candidate and British army Captain William Archer Redmond son of John Redmond was elected and then took his seat at Westminster instead of the newly formed Dail Eireann. This was achieved by an alliance of the Ballybricken pigbuyers, the local unionist community and the fish wives and cockle pickers whose husband's fought in the first world war. Thank you for your reply to my question about the errors on Bill's page. The issue I have is a Reliable Source. Bill was my father in law and I know the page is wrong, simply because he was family. - Im afraid that we still need a reliable source as in theory anyone can say anything about his offline entity on the internet. Not that I think that you would do that. I was unable to locate the question you asked originally, can you please provide a link? Wikipedia:FAQ/Article_subjects probbably contains something related, though I havent looked right now. Hi, I'm new to Wikipedia and I'm trying to add info on my page. I recently created a post and I get a message that it may be deleted. I saw that there were maybe some copyright issues. Please be assured that everything that was sent is owned by me and created by me. I own all the copyrights. Please advise as how to proceed. I can't seem to find my page to edit it. Can you help?Grpictures (talk) 22:08, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Grpictures: The page was deleted because it was not clear if we can use the contents. You can still follow the procedure at WP:DCM. The support team handlers are able to restore it. You can use these steps. Note that if the text is considered unsiutable (which I can no longer tell), you are probably better off with creating a new text that is exclusivelly written for Wikipedia in accoreance with the the content policies. Thanks for reviewing my page and connecting. I agree and it was not the intention to write an article through the profile. I am an avid writer and entrepreneur. I present several talk-shows primarily in the education field. It has been a long time since I was active on Wikipedia. When I logged in today to read and contribute, it showed me my profile page. The profile page felt pretty empty. So, the purpose to write content on my profile was simply to brief what I and who I am before I resume looking for opportunities to contribute to Wikipedia. My areas of expertise are education, astronomy, entrepreneurship, and leadership. I will be more than happy to follow and abide by any rules you suggest during my participation on Wikipedia.

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message
Discrimination.
Hello there, Thank you for helping me with the discrimination from an Aromanian Nationalist, namely the user MacedoRoman. I just wanted to add further content here, contribute to this big and important project of Wikipedia but I am still prevented by this user for the simple cause of an aromanian website filled with Romanian Propaganda. It is constantly being deleted. Many websites containing Greek Propaganda exist in the External links section of Aromanians but I did not see any problem with that. The user is clearly a racist and not objective. An objective person must be neutral and add useful sources from all sides in order to be as close to reality as possible. Wikipedia has no room for active Propaganda and neutrality is a must. Furthermore, personal attacks and severe harassment was noted along with extreme racism.I was talking as politely as I could, but to no avail. To conclude, I want this person to stop doing that and end the conflict. If that is not possible, then I will have to stop adding further content for fear of it being deleted again for ridiculous reasons. Yours sincerely, A concerned user. :) Bolt Escargot (talk) 20:50, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- Bolt Escargot, Aram Assadourian is not MacedoRoman. It's just some kind of retard. I have had problems with him for some months already. I guess that you just happened to be on the middle, he was going to leave me some message and saw yours... But no, I really doubt MacedoRoman and that guy are the same. Victor Schmidt, sorry for replying to this user here, but there's no point in opening another thread somewhere else. Super Ψ Dro 21:06, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
Draft:Justine Tung
Hello, I asked for this page to be deleted a few days ago, but my friend has said he would like to view the page again. I had copied and pasted the text into a Word document as a sort of archive, however I now realise I didn't push save. Now we both want to see the page but I can't access it now. I put it on this page as it is technically an article for creation. If I could either have a plain text version of the page (including hyperlinks), or access to the complete history of the page, I would be grateful. 82.3.185.12 (talk) 08:04, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

Shrutip2493 (talk) 17:10, 21 November 2020 (UTC) I would appreciate getting clarification on the copyright violations referenced in the comment when the submission was declined. Is it referring to the following link that was referenced in an earlier comment (https://en.everybodywiki.com/K_Madhava_Sarma) or are there other copyright violations being referenced. Thanks in advance for the clarification.
@Nightenbelle: could you please clarify? As far as https://en.everybodywiki.com/K_Madhava_Sarma goes, that site seems to be a backwards copy, as visible in their revision history. The everybody Wiki page was created on 19th July 2019 ([1]), our revision history goes back until at least October 2018, not to mention the cretion and edit summaries on Everybodywiki: Moved page from wikipedia:en:Draft:K Madhava Sarma Victor Schmidt (talk) 18:35, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi Victor Schmidt! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Gracey (singer) that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. - @Msmmsm1990: I have tried my best. One thing though, you have to be carefull to use the technical param name. For example, the param name for the birth date is
birth_date
, even though it appears asBirth Date
in the end. I couldn't fix up thethesis
param (which doesn't exist), because I couldn't find an existing param with matching definitions. A list of the technical param names and what they are expected to contain is available there. Victor Schmidt (talk) 10:50, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
Meena Kumari weightlifter information is incorrect which is published in wikipedia
Hi ,
Recently i came across the wikipedia detail for Meena Kumari weightlifter and saw there was hardly any information and authentic detail about her.
Me being from the family of Meena Kumari is ready to provide any identities , proofs and undertakings so as to declare the information to be edited in Meena Kumari's wikipedia account to be correct , true , authentic and resourceful.
All these details which has a copy here too at the bottom of email are available on google searches too for cross check and verifications .
Please respond as soon as possible for the correct information approval and publishing of Meena Kumari Weightlifter.
Awaiting your response at the earliest

- None of the text added to Meena Kumari (weightlifter) was actually verifyable. See also WP:BURDEN for the Wikipedia policy on who is needing to bring the sources. Due to the nature of the internet, being very anonymized, with no way to actually check who is on the other end of the network cable, claiming to be someone is usally insufficient, even if its probbably true, because its unconfirmable. If I were to claim that I am Joe Biden, you can either choose to beliave that, or choose not to. Courtesy ping @Ashleyyoursmile: who reverted an IP edit to the same article. hello Victor I hope you can help me with my article If you examine the link in the copy content claim mentioned in the review made yesterday, the content was added here on DECEMBER 1, 2020. But I prepared the article on September 18, 2020. Besides, after I prepared the article, some websites used the content of my article. I worked hard on this article for more than 4 months. and I would fix the shortcomings but resources need to be analyzed correctly within reference sources There are government agencies, independent news agencies and science articles, in fact, I hope this article, which has strong references, will be carefully reviewed and approved Thanks for your interest and concern — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emremer (talk • contribs) 14:00, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello Victor Schmidt,
When a new editor asks about username rights, please give them factual information about how to achieve those rights, and what those rights entail. If you want to also give advice about using those rights responsibly, then that is fine. But essentially saying "I recommend that you do not use the rights you have" is contrary to the Wikipedia ethos. Please be more supportive. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 07:11, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

- @Goalmaker70: userspace drafts never show up in Search results. I will shortly add the template to allow you to submit the userspace draft for review. You can (but you only should do this if you are absolutely sure the draft meets Wikipedia's rules and you want to skip the review process) also move the page once the move button appears, but I do recommend that you stick with the review process until you get a feeling for what is nessesary for new articles. Jay Kim
I am trying to correct the controversies section of the wiki page regarding Congressman Jay Kim. You are letting his people create a false narrative of a convicted Congressman. Here are the main source to my piece. How do I correct this if you guys won't do it?

The cites for Jay Kim are also listed on your page: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_American_federal_politicians_convicted_of_crimes#Legislative_branch_16
The history should be consistent with his personal page. Again, you are letting his people rewrite the history of his corruption. 12.33.12.1 (talk) 17:00, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- You can certainly add content, but you must also provide a reliable source. See WP:REFB for how to cite sources. The controversies section didn't had a single source when I looked at it, and we are not interested on a rerun of the Seigenthaler incident. Victor Schmidt (talk) 17:02, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
Well, it certainly is not that guy. I have personal knowledge of the Kim case and would like to see the past political history correct. I will see if I can get to it. I don't usually post, so the formatting is new to me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.33.12.1 (talk) 17:19, 26 February 2021 (UTC) I don't know why this section was deleted in the first place. It appears to have been taken out in January of 202112.33.12.1 (talk) 17:24, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- That sectionwas deleted because the sources weren't obvivious. For BLP's inline citations are required
- I am goign to do a coding example for you, from one of the web URls above. Check the source code on how it's done:
- Text that needs support by the Washington Post article [1]
- The toolbar also has a cite button, which makes things a bit easier.

- Oh, that. I hadn't looked at many of the previous Controversy sections, I yust noticed that in your version and the Version directly before it was unsourced. I will probbably need to improve on that, but I am sure you understand that I cannot check 500 revisions yust if the controvers section has a source there. No, I understand your situation. Just the whole experience undercuts one's faith in how these pages can be manipulated to delete negative information, especially as to politicians not in the news anymore. Still working on rewriting it. 12.33.12.1 (talk) 16:13, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
Point La Vista Cape (Jacksonville) - Newly Published Starter Article
Victor: You were helpful in editing when our article launched in January. I took seriously the need for more Citations and have compiled a new list and also where the numbers go after sentences. In other words, I am over-hauling both the reference numbers as well as the Citations below in the Reference section. The main issue appeared to be how many were hard copy references vs. on-line more globally accessed materials. Some of them remain hard copy, but I gave the address of the business which furnished them. My question is...should I cut and paste the new reference section and then reorder the individual numbers in the body of the text? Or just go through one item at a time and not try to swap out the whole Reference section at once. PointLaVista (talk) 21:46, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Point La Vista
- @PointLaVista: it actually depends, both ways will work. Currently, all references are defined within the reference section together with a unique name. Whenever a reference is needed in the body, it is invoked by its name, not by the reference number. the numbers are still dynamically generated by the software and are subject to change if one adds or removes references. I assume your new reference section also has parts of the old reference section included. In this case, I would advise you to to replace the references one at a time, using the preview button from time to time. If on the other hand you plan on inserting an entire new set of references, it might be better to simply overwrite the reference definition completely. Whicheveer way you choose, please don't forget to adjust the reference invocations in the main article body. Victor Schmidt (talk) 06:32, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

Otherwise your post will end up in a (sometimes completely) differwnt topic, confusing everyone. Now about your edits to Stewart Mackinnon. I have reverted those, because they were both unsourced and promotional. Wordings like world class drama don't belong into an encyclopedia. Victor Schmidt (talk) 14:26, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Many thanks Victor for your prompt response. So please how can I submit the page please?
Regards, Segun. Segunoloye (talk) 08:08, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Segunoloye: You can submit a userpsace draft for review by adding
{{subst:submit}}
(as it apepars when viewing this page) to it. Victor Schmidt (talk) 08:51, 27 March 2021 (UTC)

Counter Vandalism Unit Academy
THanks for the suggestion to the CVUA, however my issue is, the only trainer with a slot open right now is in AEST, which is sort of an issue as that would basically mean they would only have 5 hours each day to be able to train me, and usually I'm not paying attention to Wikipedia within those 5 hours. Do you have any idea what I should do? Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 17:33, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- Another host pointed out that what you had said wasn't meant to be directly to me, however my issue still applies (i am interested in joining the CVUA) Blaze The Wolf | Proud Furry and Wikipedia Editor (talk) 17:43, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Blaze The Wolf:You can still try and fight vandalism without a trainer (as I have done), however, it is considerably harder. In essence, the main things to keep in mind is to assume good faith, What is (and isn't) vandalism, and how to respond to it. The page Wikipedia:Vandalism actually serves as a good starting point. Make sure that you know that page when starting looking for vandals. For your first attempts, I personally would recommend to err on the side of caution and not revert something if you aren't sure its vandalism. Its okay to make mistakes, we are (nearly) all humans. If you have questions, or want to know what somebody else thinks about a particular edit, you are of course always welcome to ask at the Teahouse or here at my talkpage. Hello?
Hello Victor
I am very new here and a little confused
I joined last week and wanted to write a historical page about the place I work which has over a 100 yrs of history and which I find fascinating, there are several pages on here that mention the organisation nd I thought it would be nice for them to link to a little about it
I often got into trouble on my journalism course for struggling with objectivity and although that is handy for publicity material, I have learnt today that it is not good for wiki articles
I asked a question in the teahouse and was taking on board the constructive criticism there, I had already started editing the first two paragraphs on my article when my article disappeared :(
I have been following links to try to appeal and get it back so that I can continue to work on it in the sandbox until it does meet community guidelines (as I think the history of my town is underrepresented and I'd like to share it with others)
Do you know of any way to get the page back so that I can continue to work on it or would I have to start completely from scratch?
Bevbot99 (talk) 16:22, 20 May 2021 (UTC) Bev Bevbot99 (talk) 16:22, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Bevbot99: I am afraid you have to restart from scratch, because of Wikipedia's verifyability policy. See also Help:Your first article. You should start by compeiling a list of reliable sources that discuss your subject more than just in passing. Victor Schmidt (talk) 16:55, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

How to make disambiguation columns
Sir, I wish to know more in this subject; because the guide is really complex. Imdofficial69 (talk) 13:36, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Imdofficial69: I am not entirely sure what you mean. If you man how you add an entry to a disambiguation page, the first thing you should do is check wether the person is notable by Wikipedia's definition. If it doesn't, don't bother trying to add the entry. Tpoics which already have articles about them often are, while such topics who don't often aren't. Next, you would identify the correct subsection of the disambiguation page. For example, if I were to add a fictional character named Harry from the fictive book A complete book of ficticous humanoid characters to the disambiguation page Harry, it would go in the "People and fictional characters" section there, or perhaps in one of the more precise disambiguation pages linked there. Once you have identified the correct section, create a new bullet point there that has exactly one link to the article in question, and briefely state the difference. An example could look like this:
- Harry, character in A complete book of ficticous humanoid characters
- Hoe this helps. (Yust a side note, answering questions at the Teahouse is often faster than answering at individuel editor's talkpages, unless you need that specific editor to reply) Victor Schmidt (talk) 15:10, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
Spelling correction to Help desk post suggested
Hello Victor. In your response of 08:36, 10 June 2021 (UTC) to "Help with the constant deletion of the page "Yewande Sadiku"" on the Help desk, you might want to correct your spelling of "accounts", since currently it inadvertently includes an obscenity that might prove distracting to readers :-). {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.122.0.58 (talk) 16:45, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi Victor Schmidt!
Hi, I'm new here, and I just first logged in to Wikipedia a fortnight ago. By the way thanks for answering my question at the Teahouse. I'm trying to block a user called "Serols". Thanks again.Sparklestern (talk) 20:50, 13 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Sparklestern: And for what? Your only interaction with @Serols: seems to be this, which seems to be about User_talk:Serols#Is Woody Harrelson Dead?. I don't think WP:NOTFORUM would apply here, as the response clearly is about an edit - the one by Sasa888 - however, in my personal opinion, the second part ("Everything ok with you?") could be interpreted in a way it means something offensive. Victor Schmidt (talk) 06:41, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
I don't know what you mean by "offensive". He removed my edit on his talk page and I don't know why. Also, he just messaged me suddenly about something called "July 2021". I don't know what that means.Sparklestern (talk) 12:24, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Sparklestern: Editors are allowed to remove messages from their own talkpages (with a few exceptions, none of which apply here), see WP:BLANKING for more info. Regarding his post on User talk:Sparklestern#July 2021, thats just month and year of his post on your talk page so that its seperated from issiues before or after that. The exact cause of his message can be derived from the contents of his message - it was this edit to Template:DYK nomination header. As much as I understand that you want to edit, inserting "Hi" in random places, here in a header template for Do you know nominations, does not benefit the corresponding page in any way. If you just want to experiment, please use the sandbox for that. Victor Schmidt (talk) 12:32, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
Oh, I get it now. I think I forgot to add those four tidles at the end of my message when I said hello to Serols, that's why he reverted my message. I also might have left the message in the wrong place (WP:DYK). Sorry about confusing you. I don't think I know the way Wikipedia works. Sparklestern (talk) 14:02, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Sparklestern, in all friendship, if you do more such vandalism/nonsense edits, you risk your account -> 1 2 3 4. Regards --Serols (talk) 15:42, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
Okay Serols. I understand now. I'll use my sandbox if I want to experiment, and not edit unnecessary things in random articles and User PagesSparklestern (talk) 16:27, 14 July 2021 (UTC).
- Hello Sparklestern, that sounds good. Regards --Serols (talk) 16:53, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Serols, What do you mean by "You risk your account"? Is someone allowed to take it away from me?Sparklestern (talk) 20:54, 14 July 2021 (UTC)
- Sparklestern, repeatedly making unconstructive edits, especially after being warned, can cause your account to lose its functionality via a process called a WP:BLOCK, which is applied by an WP:administrator. This is because unconstructive editing is a huge waste of the time of other users. Are you actually WP:HERE to build an encyclopedia, or to get attention?--Quisqualis (talk) 02:52, 15 July 2021 (UTC)
@Quisqualis, I only came here because I needed to get a few questions I had answered. I hope that's not wrong. Sparklestern (talk) 17:42, 15 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Sparklestern: Asking question is not wrong and will not get you blocked (unless you spam people with the same question over and over again, but I think you already know that). Quisqualis refers to the earlier post by Serols dated 15:24 (UTC), 14 July 2021. Repeatedly making tests in locations where one should not do tests can cause a block inorder to prevent you from doing more tests at inappropiate locations. Victor Schmidt (talk) 18:26, 15 July 2021 (UTC)
@Victor Schmidt, Thank you for the assistance. I'll try not to encourage tests next time (That is, if I have tested anyone). I'll keep in mind that tests can have me blocked.Sparklestern (talk) 18:37, 15 July 2021 (UTC)
Hi @Victor Schmidt thank you for your input. I was hoping you can help with some more questions. I have found several more sources for the article I am working on. Including, a compilation album that this artist did with a famous artist, the main vocalist on a notable tv show, and other sources. I am wondering if there is anyone (such as a volunteer) on wikipedia who can help place the new information in the article to help me do this correctly? Also, is my article in the correct place of where it needs to be right now? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Victor Thanks for responding. A few questions:
- How long can I leave my draft without the page being deleted?
- I see that the draft has not been reviewed after copyright, does that mean sections like 'See Also' require reviewing by me - don't see copyright issue here?
- 1 of the references has been invoked so is blank, I can't tell which reference this corresponds too?
Many thanks. AwesomeAubergine (talk) 08:04, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Draft that are unedited may be deleted after 6 months, because draftspace is not a place to host material found unsiutable for inclusion to the encyclopedia. As logn as you update your draft, or submit it for review, it won't ge deleted for inactivity.
- The comment "I have not reviewed past the copyright issues, which I have removed." simply means that Timtrent did not look for furhter issiues after checking for copyright violations - it could well have been that there have been other issiues, however, the reviewer id not check for those bcause searching for other problems when you already have a copyright violation is a waste of time. I can't check if such issiues existed, because I am not an admin and therefore cannot see the deleted revisions.
- Regarind the first reference, I believe you and talk to any admin that he looks at the deleted revisions and tells you what the reference #1 was. You could try asking Sphilbrick on that one, or you can try asking at WP:AN, or one of these admins.
- As a general note, please always reply to comments at the place where they have been asked - in this case at WP:AFCHD. There is an edit link next to the section header. You can Ping the one you reply to so they get a notification (otheriwse they might never notice you sent them a reply) Victor Schmidt (talk) 08:15, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- @AwesomeAubergine
The comment "I have not reviewed past the copyright issues, which I have removed." simply means that Timtrent did not look for furhter issues after checking for copyright violations
means exactly that. There was not much left, but there was sufficient not to go for wholesale deletion of the entire draft. FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 09:19, 19 July 2021 (UTC) - Victor Schmidt, That reference was not removed by me, but I tracked it down and placed it back in the draft. Thanks for your note, Victor
I appreciate the help. Essentially the article i want to post about is about an Ivy League professor (UPenn and Cornell) who works in American Studies, specifically as a scholar of Native American literature. He's published a seminal book in his field "The Poetics of Imperialism" as well as numerous other scholarly publications. I have his CV and some info from his Cornell university faculty page but I was told I didn't do the citations correctly??? I'm a big user of Wikipedia but a first time contributor and it's all a bit disorienting. Any thoughts on the best way to build this entry up within the bounds of wikipedia's guidelines? Thanks.
