I have a doubt
Is Parasakthi (1952 film) a National Pictures product or an AVM studios product? Because PA Perumal of National Pics produced it, but AV Meiyappa Chettiar funded it, and the article has the AVM template. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 05:22, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

The retirement, the match, the celebrations, the honours, other events, etc are all covered on the series' page. His biography is already so big that not all these details can be written there. But if thats what majority want, then it will be so. Will have to add some more about the match in the bio article then. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 07:31, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
- Since Tendulkar is the subject, I prefer the parent article to be bolded. Retirement section should be given adequate mention in article parent rather than the series article. —Vensatry (Ping me) 07:40, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Your edits on the SRT-related age
You are of the opinion that ICC rankings don't belong here. Then what is the mention of Bradman's count of 150+ scores doing in here? Bother to mention then that SRT did it in an era of more docile pitches, a ton of protective gear, lots of restrictions on the bowlers and inferior attacks. Also that he has played against pathetic attacks like Zimbabawe and Bangladesh and four times as many innings. Clearly an attempt to belittle the greatest ever.
If the Bradman mention is re-added (I am deleting it now) I will also be adding the ICC rankings and many more where SRT has been shown his rightful place. King Richards was ranked no 1 with SRT at 12. In Tests, Bradman was 1, with Richards at 5 and SRT at 26. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.194.228.155 (talk) 16:11, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
- Clearly the ICC rankings don't belong here as this is a list of centuries scored by him. If it were a parent article it would have some relevance. The 150 scores are worth mentioning since they talk about hundreds. The argument is not about who is better Don or SRT. I'm least bothered as I'm neither a fan of both. Everything I've added is completely cited to reliable sources. If you add unsourced POV once again I'm going to report you. —Vensatry (Ping me) 17:01, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

Word of thank
Thank u very much Vensatry for the advice. In fact, I just received Conversations with Mani Ratnam today (25 Nov) and have added some facts from it to Mullum Malarum. As for the DYK, I can't decide which is the best trivia from the film to add. Maybe something like "it was based on a story of the same name" or "Producer Venu Chettiar did not originally want Rajinikanth to act in the film"... We'll check that after the GA review is successful. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 16:47, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

GAN December 2013 Backlog Drive
Hello! A GAN Backlog Drive will begin in less than 4 days! In past Backlog Drives, the goal was to reduce the backlog of Good article nominations. In the upcoming drive, another goal will be added - raising as much money as we can for the Wikimedia Foundation. How will this work? Well, its pretty simple. Any user interested in donating can submit a pledge at the Backlog Drive page (linked above). The pledge should mention the amount of money the user is willing to donate per review. For example, if a user pledges 5 cents per review and 100 nominations are reviewed, the total donation amount is $5.00. At the time this message was sent out, two users have submitted pledges for a total of 8 cents per review. All pledges, no matter how much money, are greatly appreciated. Also, in no way is this saying you must make a pledge. |
Its Shubha not Shobha
No actress Shubha hails from Andra Pradesh where as National award winning actress Shobha hails from Kerala. Shubha has acted in all South Indians languages and in hindi. She was the heroine of Jayan starrer Malayalam movie "Kazhukan". I couldn't find any more information of her as Google only shows the information about Shobha while searching for Shubha. Can you add some more details on post 1960s history. I think the modern especially post 1990s should be significantly expanded. Something like [1] might be worth mentioning/protests in the city etc. Also the references need full putting in alphabetical order, it gets untidy after the initial A-Z. You've done a remarkable though on writing the article, considering that the city doesn't exactly have the highest quality books available on it. I think together we can get this to FA, the references at the moment are the biggest issue. I've created User:Vensatry/Trichy references which should save you time in saving on the main article which takes ages. Once done this can be copied into the main article and override the current list. The main problem is that you haven't put the surname first or put the name first before title so when you scan down the list you can't easily organize it alphabetically. It makes it very difficult to organize. Here's a ref tool to reformat the sources, you'll have to find the urls of the books in google books. http://reftag.appspot.com/ . Have a look at the way the last name of the author is put first in articles like Marrakech and before the title and url. Can you go through the list and reorganize them all alphabetically with the surname first? When you click on edit references you should see a clean A-Z on the left side. Sources without author, treat the titles as surnames I guess. I can help you out a bit.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:18, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the copy-edits. I cannot find anything notable to add on the post 1990s period. The Srilankan pilgrim attack seems to be a very minor thing and is highly common in Tamil Nadu. As for the refs. I'm very well aware that they should be listed in alphabetical order. I'll do that once I'm done with expanding the article. I've formatted most of the google books refs. using the reftag tool only. In the Geography section, I don't think distances from cities such as Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Salem are needed. Bangalore is okay since it is almost equidistant that of Chennai. —Vensatry (Ping me) 06:55, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
OK, I thought the Hyderabad one might be useful for reference from central India. I'll continue with it in a few days time, thanks for sorting out the references. Clicking the sfn notes and highlighting books though I think needs to be checked as I think a few stray ones may result of the reference reordering.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:14, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
- I'm retaining Hyderabad since it's an important city in south India. I'll do a careful re-work on the refs. part —Vensatry (Ping me) 16:27, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
Any reason why Rockfort is italicized?♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:35, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- Actually it was Ravi's idea to italicise it. Mainly to lay emphasize on the name of the monument as it's used as a proper noun rather than a common noun. —Vensatry (Ping me) 14:44, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
I'm sure it'll be picked up on in the FAC. Can you add info about those linked recent events then to history? Will resume going through it tomorrow, hopefully we'll have it ready for nomming by the end of the week.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:08, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
- I've added some stuff relating to the Anti-Hindi agitations. Do you wish to co-nominate the article? —Vensatry (Ping me) 09:20, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
I did yes as I was hoping to get around to finishing my work on it before you nommed. Hey pal! This source says the 'V' in V. C. Ganesan could be Vettaithidal according to his son Ramkumar. -- Sriram speak up 02:38, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
- Good catch! Even I was wondering why Villupuram was prefixed when he belongs to the Thanjavur district. Ramkumar's claim might be true. —Vensatry (Ping me) 05:59, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
- But the source in his article (ref 2) claims as 'Villupuram Chinnaiya Ganesa Moorthy'? -- Sriram speak up 06:51, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, a majority of sources report that. In such cases, you could add something like, according to his son "His name was "Vettaithidal Chinnaiya" Ganesan. —Vensatry (Ping me) 06:57, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
- In the last comment, I wasn't talking about the 'V', but the name: Ganesan and Ganesa Moorthy. -- Sriram speak up 15:03, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
- Again different sources claim different opinions. It's better to stick to what majority of the sources seem to say. —Vensatry (Ping me) 08:40, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

- Ok I will do that. Up till now I have contributed significantly to this article which I have also nominated for GA. Would it be possible for you to review this for me? --Seabuckthorn ♥ 15:35, 28 November 2013 (UTC)
- Seabuckthorn The article looks good but I don't have time to review it. Don't worry as it will be taken up by someone else —Vensatry (Ping me) 08:38, 3 December 2013 (UTC)
- It's ok and thank you so much for your attention to this matter. I hope it's okay if I appear on your talk page every now and then to seek your help in future. Seabuckthorn ♥ 18:56, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

To Ooty or not to Ooty
These sources: [2] and [3] state that Roja was shot in Ooty, even though the plot takes place in Kashmir. That is why I added Roja to the category. Is there any source that contradicts it or proves it wrong? ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 12:38, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
