Can I delete it...........

Can I delete the "request for speedy deletion" on my talk page............it was placed there by somebody a couple of months ago and it never at any time impacted the status of the entry.

Thank You

17:19, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

To be honest....I was insulted when somebody placed that tag on my talk page..........because the entry has been on wikipedia from day one and now after 2 months without question I understand it is a permanent entry on wikipedia. It just looks really bad on my talk page, especially since it is completely irrelevant at this time.

Thanks Again Very Much

Jaderocker (talk) 17:29, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

PS...Some of my Hall of Fame Pro Wrestling friends would find that tag amusing as well

Thanks

Thanks Ukexpat.....you're the best! Having a permanent entry on wikipedia is an honor and a privilege for me. You have my 100% respect for taking the time to help me.

Thank You Again,

Jaderocker (talk) 17:36, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Speedy delete

I removed your tag. This is not a speedy delete. I saw your tag and have already added some content. It is a 20 year old venture firm with notable employees and investments and more than $2 billion of capital under management which is fairly large for a VC firm. It was added as part of the general mission of the Private Equity Task Force and you should slow down on this. Please let me know if you have questions. |► ϋrbanяenewaℓTALK ◄| 20:27, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

I got confused as to who did what, I thought I put it back to the AfD version. I removed the speedy since there's an open AfD, my comment was about the removal of the AfD tag, which totally confused me as to what happened. I apologize if you thought my comment was directed at you. Corvus cornixtalk 21:53, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Revised "Translated page" template

Hi,

Following up on my comments on the Help page, I've edited the "Translated page" template to make it more user-friendly. Please let me know what you think! Thanks.--Number17 (talk) 17:45, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your reply on my talk page. I've posted a new Template revision that preserves the code which I inadvertently deleted.--Number17 (talk) 18:09, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
This time I limited my edits to the doc page but I am STILL getting reverted. Grrrr.....--Number17 (talk) 18:38, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for the link to Template:Namespace, whence I discovered Wikipedia:Template documentation. If I am not mistaken, this supports my point of view:

"Template documentation should explain what a template does and how to use it. It should be simple enough that a user without complete knowledge of the intricacies of template syntax – which includes many experienced contributors who focus their attention elsewhere – can use it correctly."

I have asked PrimeHunter to suggest a public place for continuing this discussion.--Number17 (talk) 20:29, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Karl Ferris article/images - when might we be able to get this up on Wikipedia?

Hello - sorry to be a pest, but I haven't heard back from you in a week, so I thought I'd find out what I can do to move this forward. I had uploaded an image of Karl - provided by Karl to be uploaded into the Wiki Public Domain - and that image was flagged since it was not assigned to an article that has been posted, so we seem to be running in circles at this point. Can we simply upload what is there now and make the changes you see that might be needed going forward when you/I have the time? Please advise - I'd really like to get this finished and move on to other articles I'd like to write on other photographers I know. THANKS - Mike G Rockpop (talk) 17:32, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion but it does not work; My monobook.css is blanked but it keeps on loading the custom css even after multiple cache purges. I'm getty crazy over this --ItemirusTalk Page 21:28, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Solved it ;-)

I forgot i was browsing using a sandbox...

I opened an unsadboxed firefox session and it worked --ItemirusTalk Page 21:32, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Solved it - look up here - thanks anyway --ItemirusTalk Page 21:36, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Need your help in "creating" the Karl Ferris article - how to proceed?

Thanks for getting back to me and for agreeing with a "temporary" solution. If you'll recall, the article I uploaded has an administrative lock on it, so if you can tell me how I go about having that removed and then how I move the article to the live Wikipedia service, it'd really be appreciated. My "real life" will have a bit less pressure in it once this article is up and running.. THANKS again - looking forward to your next set of instructions. Old speedy-delete comment: "Retarded policeman"

(Looked through your archive and didn't find that this was addressed.) FYI: Back in March you did a speedy delete on an entry titled "Retarded policeman" (not my work, BTW! :). In case it gets created again, I thought I'd mention that if it was speedily deleted on the basis of vandalism, there's a mistake. It's an Internet series with 16 episodes so far, seven of which have over 1 million views each, and I've definitely seen it mentioned/referred to in reliable-source profiles of the people involved. (Can't find right now, after 10-15 minutes hunting; it's hard to Google the RSs for this one because they often avoid citing the show's title.) A re-creation of the article would likely qualify for a speedy delete on the basis of content if people fail to do their sourcing to support notability by WP standards, vs. just saying "But it's got all those views!" (See this link from TV Week blogger Daisy Whitney, not that that blog necessarily counts for purposes of WP:V or WP:RS.) Not defending either the show or the specific article you deleted, just making sure it's not misidentified as vandalism. Best to you, from Lawikitejana (talk) 18:30, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Ah, what happened was that you posted the vandalism warning on the page-creator's Talk page, so I erroneously assumed the deletion was yours as well. I'll go back and look at the deletion comment itself. Thanks for the info! Lawikitejana (talk) 18:36, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
I checked this out; it was a page that you tagged and I deleted. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 08:34, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Ferris article now "unprotected" - how do I "make it live"?

Hello once again - I see that the admin has "unprotected" the Karl Ferris article. Do I simply "move" it to a new article titled Karl Ferris, or ?? Sorry I'm so unprepared - I just don't want to do the wrong thing and have it locked up again! Cheers Mike GRockpop (talk) 19:44, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Okay, it's really unprotected this time. As for moving the article, it depends on who's doing the moving. If you are, then a page move is preferred (to preserve the edit history per GFDL). If Rockpop is moving it, C&P is fine as long as he is the only author. caknuck ° is not used to being the voice of reason 21:58, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Karl Ferris - can you please move this for me?

Hi there - only because - at this point - I'm scared to death about doing something wrong and then being sent to the Wiki Penalty Box again :-) , I'd like to ask you to please move this article into Wikipedia for me. If I need to make any other edits, I can do that once it is up and running.

Also - since there are a number of album cover images featuring Karl's photos currently up on Wikipedia and in use as illustrations by other articles, can you tell me how I can link into those images to illustrate my article?

For example, in the article on the Jimi Hendrix record titled "Are You Experienced?", http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Are_You_Experienced%3F , the "alternate U.S. cover" is one that uses a photo shot by Karl. It is on Wikipedia as http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Image:AreyouexpUS.jpg

Other images he's shot include his shot for Donovan's "Gift from a Flower..." http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Image:Donovan-A_Gift_from_a_Flower_to_a_Garden.jpg

and the cover of The Hollies' "Evolution" http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Image:The_Hollies_Evolution_albumCover.jpg

While I don't want to delay getting the main article posted - please proceed! - if you can help me add these images to help illustrate the article, it would be a great help. Thanks again - looking forward to seeing this up and running soon. SIncerely - Mike G Rockpop (talk) 20:14, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Copyedit request

Hi, I found your name at WP:PRV listed as a volunteers for general copyedits. I was hoping you could give Germany women's national football team a closer look. I don't believe the text is in particularly bad shape, but it could certainly use a copyedit by a native speaker. If you have no time and/or just don't want to do it, no problem. Copyedit request

Hi there. I just scrolled through the copyedit volunteers at WP:PRV, and thought you were perhaps one of the best to help me, particularly since you have a knowledge of football. I've got a nomination at FAC for History of Bradford City A.F.C.. User:Tony1 has added an "oppose" on the grounds of criteria 1a and 2a, and wondered if you might look over the article for a possible copy edit? Your help, or guidance in finding another editor, would be much appreciated. Peanut4 (talk) 18:09, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

That would be great. It's at FAC, so I'll leave a note there that you're going to take a look at it. Thanks again. Peanut4 (talk) 19:22, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
Just to let you know, the History of Bradford City A.F.C. article has gained FA status. While, it would be great to see if you could clean up any prose issues, it's obviously no longer such a pressing matter. Many thanks for your offer of help. Peanut4 (talk) 01:48, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Back Alley John - Sectional Titles

I have tried to sectionalize the Back Alley John page in accordance with your caution, but have had to do so quickly. Please let me know if this is along the lines of what you were looking for, and remove the caution if so.

On another note, this page does not appear to be getting picked up by Google; I have no idea why. Is there something in its formatting that could cause it to be missed on a search? Instead, the "year of death" category page comes up.

Many thanks for raising your concerns.

Katherine "Kat" Slatery

I was wondering what I could do to help the article Katherine "Kat" Slatery. I am a big fan of hers, in fact we just started building her fan site. We would like to propose that she is notable. Please see the interviews posted :

http://davidarchuletaindonesia.com/2008/08/25/exclusive-fans-of-david-interview-with-kat-slatery-actress-from-the-%E2%80%9Ccrush%E2%80%9D-video-also-houston-videos/

and at http://fansofdavid.com

She has a rather large fan base especially because of her recent work and is a very well known breakdancer and has appeared on television many many times. MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen showcased her as a choreographer on Erica Price's episode with Bobby Valentino.

She appeared in a Jeff Foxworthy commercial as a principal as well for CMT. And she was featured on the BET Hip-Hop Awards as a soloist breakdancer. Among many other things, she has performed on stage with the Black Eyed Peas and can be seen in various performances and videos with them and Sergio Mendez.

We think it could be proposed with the newest addition of playing a principal role in David Archuleta's new video CRUSH which is at the top of the charts and gaining significant notability.

Thanks. Hope we can help more to keep this article up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Miltonmilton (talkcontribs) 14:15, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Slide.com redirect

Hi,

Thanks for the note. I created a Slide Inc. page, because that is the most accurate name of the company, and Slide.com is simply its online website. Slide Inc.'s main products are not slide.com, thus Wikipedia users would more likely search for slide inc. than slide.com to learn about the company slide.

i'm new to wikipedia so hopefully i'm doing this correctly.. thanks.

Why is Oldhamhistory not an acceptable user name?

You say my user name is not acceptable and have changed it. Why? What are the ground rules for user names? Does the user name have to be the same as the article name? I would like to contribute several articles over a period of time. All of these would have been concerned with 19th century Oldham so I thought that my choice of user name was appropriate. Do I have to have separate accounts with different user names for each article with a different title? Now, when I am logged in, I cannot get to my article to undertake editing by clicking on 'Oldhamhistory' on the menu-bar at the top. What is happening? Ian (talk) 18:36, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Quesion for you

My page was tagged for deletion when the entry was first put in a few months ago.....you told me that you had a deletion tag placed on yours as well at first until it was achived and removed. My question is, I just erased the paragraph I had placed at the top of my talk page that disputed the deletion tag placed there by somebody a few months ago because it is no longer relevant due the amount of the time that has past....is that OK that I did that? I read the message you sent me stating the deletion tag placed on your page went away after it was archived. Kind of fuzzy on the whole archive thing....I didn't wait like you did for the info to be archived...like I said it just seemed irrelevant to the secure entry now. I know I was told I can erase or add anything to my talk page but I just wanted to check with you my friend.

Thanks Again!

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Why are you reverting my content?

I am curious as to why you are reverting my content.

This is not being done to advertise, but to educate the public on the geo domain industry and its resources.

It is not fair that to all that you do not allow this content to be published on the generic term.

There are other sites listed in the same manner.

Please explain how I can meet wiki rules to prevent this from happening.

AssociatedCities is using this geo domain page in their trademark filing and we want to prevent that by educating the public that this is an industry, not a made up name.

Please advise.

Just a note to remind you that deletionist edits which may violate consensus and policy are not de facto vandalism:

Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism. Even harmful edits that are not explicitly made in bad faith are not considered vandalism.

Wikiuser100 (talk · contribs) was not vandalizing if his/her intentions were good faith -- which you have to assume, based on the edit summaries and tempered responses to other users. - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 14:10, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

You may want to read this with regards to this and this. The order is:

  1. External links
  2. Navigation templates
  3. {{Persondata}}
  4. {{Defaultsort}} (if used)
  5. Categories
  6. {{stub}} (or more specific ones)

...?

Hey again, Ukexpat...I hate to bother you about all this again, but it's been a week and you haven't really reacted to Lincolnshire, Illinois. I'm not familiar with copyediting, and maybe it takes a whole lot longer than I initially thought, or maybe you are simply really busy at the moment. No matter the reason, should I be going back to WP:PRV in search of another copyeditor?

I apologize for the trouble, --Starstriker7(Say hior see my works) 03:38, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

How do I...............

How do I upload a photo to my wikipedia entry where I can put my height and weight below it? I'm sure you are very busy my friend....so message me whenever you get a chance....no rush!

Thanks Again As Always For Your Help,

Jaderocker (talk) 02:48, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

I just went in and uploaded a photo to my wiki commons account which is what I was told to do if I want to upload a photo for my Wikipedia entry. Now that the wiki commons photo is uploaded how do I get it into my Wikipedia entry to display? Let me know at your earliest convenience my friend. Let me know if you need any of the information which I will gladly give you in case you would like to assist me in setting this up which is probably a "breeze" for you.

Thanks Again So Much,

Jaderocker (talk) 15:22, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

I just got your message, that is awesome! Thank You so much my friend! If I had my choice of only 1, I would go with Infobox for pro wrestlers. I'll keep checking back throughout the day and let me know what other info you need and I would be honored to give it to you. Friend of mine mentioned meta-tags..........don't know if I have any inserted yet, but he gave me a couple of things he thought I should include in this entry....let me know if you would like them because I am not familiar with meta-tags!

Thank You So Much For Your Valuable Time,

Jaderocker (talk) 16:35, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

I just checked my entry and that looks great, thank you so much.....I love how it says best career win below....I guess you can do what you think is right.......I would love to have some pro wrestling stuff mentioned as well because I was set to go pro with the superstars on 2 seperate occasions. Some of my stats are: Height 5"10, Weight 200-226lbs, Born: Winchester, MA, Resides: Boston, MA. Thanks again so much, I will keep checking in throughout the day................AWESOME WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jaderocker (talk) 16:43, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks my friend, I just got your message, I copied and pasted it below so I could add my response right below your last response:

Image

Thanks for the message - glad to help. I found the image on Commons and added the appropriate link in the infobox on the article page. There are more fields that can be filled in and you will see those when you view the page in edit mode. At the moment the article uses

Ukexpat/Archive 4
Bodybuilder

, but WP also has a separate ibox for wrestlers -

Ukexpat/Archive 4

(see Hulk Hogan for example). You can only use one ibox so you should take a look at both and decide which one you prefer. When you have decided I can help you with the fields - some of them, like birthdate, are supposed to use special templates. Hope this helps. – ukexpat (talk) 15:38, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

I probably won't have much time to do much to it today but keep checking back over the next few days. I will use the wrestler ibox instead of bodybuilder. – ukexpat (talk) 16:50, 16 September 2008 (UTC) Retrieved from "https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/User_talk:Jaderocker"

My response to your message: I really appreciate using the professional wrestler ibox! I will keep checking back over the next few days! I can't thank you enough for all of your help, so can I at least send you a Christmas card....ha ha ha! But really your help means a lot buddy!

PS....as I stated before, when you get back if you could add my statistics under my photo I would be forever grateful to you.

  • STATISTICS
  • Height: 5"10
  • Weight 200-226lbs.
  • Resides: Boston, MA.

Hello my friend.....this is the last time I bother you, I'm so sorry!!!!!!!!! The last bit of information I left out is:

My other professional wrestling ring name was Shane O'Kane. The Shane O'Kane professional wrestling gimmick was the one I was assigned while I was training for my XWF shot with my friend Ed Leslie AKA Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake in 2001.

Thanks Again for all your help.........that is all! I'm gonna have to buy you dinner for all these messages I've sent you....ha ha ha!!!!!!

I read your message and...................

Sorry to bother you one last time Ukexpat.....I figure while I'm at it I'd ask on more small edit to my Wikipedia entry: Could you change under my photo Statistics: Killer Kowalski Professional Wrestling Institute to Killer Kowalski Professional Wrestling School. It was a school and not an institute, that was my mistake. I'm just trying to fix the last little thing that wasn't accurate. The same edit would also need to be made under the Professional Wrestling Text where Killer Kowalski Professional Wrestling Institute would also be changed to Killer Kowalski Professional Wrestling School.

Thanks Again Ukexpat...I hate to bother you but I just wanna get this little tweak fixed and call it a day! Thanks Buddy!

PS.....IS IT POSSIBLE TO ADD MY OTHER RING NAME under my statstics:

                                             Shane O'Kane

I WAS GIVEN THAT STAGE NAME AND GIMMICK TO USE WHILE TRAINING WITH ED LESLIE WHILE PREPARING FOR THE XWF. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT Ukexpat!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there anyway to let me know the vandals screen name or no? Thanks Big Guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finishing Up?

Hi again, Ukexpat. I know you have already copyedited the first half of Lincolnshire, Illinois, so I was wondering if you can read over the last five sections of the article. I don't mean to be rude or anything, but I am waiting on you so I can nominate this for GA status.

Please get back to me as soon as you can.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Anavexlogo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Anavexlogo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:13, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

One last question...........

Sorry to bother you again Ukexpat but I had one last huge favor to ask you, it's probably easy for you to do but huge for me to see. When I check out my entry I see my name with (bodybuilder) next to it. I was bigger in pro wrestling than I was in bodybuilding so instead could (Professional Wrestler) be listed next to my name? The current listing is really out dated, especially since my entry has the pro wrestler ibox format. When I have some time I'll have to have some of my friends and guys who helped manage me post some pics and clips etc. that I have kept vaulted all these years. Thanks Buddy!!!!!!!

Good work!

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
This is for removing some serious vandalism from Template:Google, that was affecting several pages that had it transcluded. You did a good job finding and removing it, since it was a problem for quite some time (18 minutes in fact... way too long for any kind of vandalism to survive in Wikipedia). NBC

I'm comfortable with the current wording - thanks for clarifying. When you wrote "it" the first time, were you referring to Universal? Apologies if so. I didn't go to the article talk page because I thought it might be seen as impertinent (an over-your-head kinda thing). Zain Ebrahim (talk) 22:15, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Moved post to your talk (hope you don't mind). Zain Ebrahim (talk) 12:12, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the message. You were right -- in my first change the "it" was NBC Universal Global Networks, which was clearly wrong on my part.
I don't speak or read Polish, but the Polish WP article (see the interwiki link) on the same subject appears to have the wrong name and should be moved. I'll try to figure out how to ask about that over at Pl. – ukexpat (talk) 00:14, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. And great work on picking up the error in the Polish article! I see Babel fish doesn't translate English to Polish and I don't know how reliable the other online translaters are - might be a job for WP:RD/L. Cheers, Zain Ebrahim (talk) 12:12, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Jayen Varma, Deletion Review Request

I am thankful for efforts you took to edit my page Jayen Varma. I had to do a lot of editing because, I am still unaware as to how editing can be made. Though I ve lots of Blogs in the net, I find only few are reliable. I consider Wikipedia as one of the most reputed ones. I agreed to delete my page only when Wikipedia was reluctunt to accept my post. But I wish to inform you that my World Record is very much Official as the Registry of official World Records which does it with Record Holders Republic is a competent Authority. The reliable link which I can give you is there. Thats http://www.recordholdersrepublic.co.uk/recordholdersdetails.asp?id=484 . Also I am a member of the Guinness Community as a World Record Holder. If you still have doubt you can delete my name from Wikipedia. Now with lots of deletion notices on Top of my article, it seems to be confusing for others. I am not to edit it again since, I am still ignorant about editing. May be I can delete all my writings from Wikipedia. Let time prove everything. Once again I thank you for all the help. I request you to please look in to it as early as possible and make necessary edits or it can be deleted, since it looks confusing for other with many deletion notices. Hope you will do it. My Last request for a Correction before deletion of my page by myself

Hi, From the link I have produced [1] it may be clear that I have a World Record with Registry of Official World Records USA&UK and Record Holders Republic,UK. In this context I request that the page may be re-written as below or with all necessary changes:-.

Jayen Varma

Registry of Official World Records,USA&UK and Record Holders Republic,UK in May 2008 declared Jayen Varma from India as a World Record Holder in Bass Guitar as the "Fastest Percussive Bassist". He plays bass guitar in the same way that the Indian percussion instruments tabla and mridangam are played. He learned mridangam from Parassala Ravi, retired Principal of the Government Music College in Kerala, India.

Thanks for all the helps

Anyway I got reply, with a meaning that, the page can not be fully accepted. Hence, I do not want to go deep in to the said subject. But I believe in Truth. Today is the Birth day of Mahatma Gandhi, who fought for truth. Truth is bigger than anything else.I do not want to go ahead with this with my pages filled with notices. So let it be deleted. Let Time proves everything.. Thanks and Regards JV —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jayenvarma (talkcontribs) 12:53, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Reply

I had submitted reliable proof of World Record [2] But WP editors are not satisfied with the competency of the Authority who awarded this, based on an article written in a private Magazine by a private person regarding the dispute between RHR and GWR. That was why I requested to change the description like: Registry of official World Records USA/UK and Record Holders Republic in 2008 declared Jayen Varma as a World Record Holder in Bass Guitar as 'Fastest Percussive Bassist' etc etc... Because there is varifiability for this in the link http://www.recordholdersrepublic.co.uk/recordholdersdetails.asp?id=484 . This is a Fact and it is varifiable. I do not know or have to know whether there are disputes or competition between RHR and GWR. But my World Record is indirectly approved by GWR by allowing me to be a Member of GWR community as a Record Holder with RHR. This is clear from the link http://community.guinnessworldrecords.com/kickapps/service/displayKickPlace.kickAction?u=2700383&as=7691 . If GWR has objection in it they would have removed me from the community. And above all, I participate in the meeting of RHR and GWR record holders held jointly. So portions of the Article Written in the said Magazine is exagerated and false. That portion of the Magazine is not at all truthful and is to tarnish the Image of certain good organisations. I am writing this because its my name which placed publically in a disputed manner now. Therefore, Its better to approve or delete it as early as possible. Thanks for all the helps and informations Regards Jayen varma —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jayenvarma (talkcontribs) 15:13, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I submitted the Peek (mobile email device) article, and it was flagged as "blatant advertising". Is that really the case? I've tried to write the article in a factual rather than promotional way. It's difficult to see how I can make it less so. Can you suggest ways I could make it more appropriate for inclusion? Thanks.Eponym (talk) 15:58, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Unnecessary dabs

COPIED AND PASTED FROM MY TALK PAGE: I don't understand why you are creating unnecessary redirect pages such as James Freeman (disambiguation). James Freeman is already a disambig page, so the new redirect page is not necessary, in my view. Why not just move James Freeman to James Freeman (disambiguation)? – ukexpat (talk) 16:04, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

It's buried in WP:MOSDAB somewhere that it is preferable on a dab, e.g. James Freedman, which includes a link to a dab for a similar name in its 'see also' section, e.g. James Freeman, that the link is to 'James Freeman (dab)', even if that isn't the name of the page. I think the reason is to make it explicitly clear that this is a dab, not one person's entry without a bio. I don't think it's particularly important, but does make the information clearer and it looks neater than black writing next to it saying that it's a dab page. I can see why you think it is unnecessary - I'd hardly argue that it's essential - but it's harmless and keeping to the style guide.

As for moving it to James Freeman (disambiguation), unless one of the Freemans is by far the most well-known, and this is likely to be the case for a very long time, e.g. Oliver Cromwell, Francis Bacon, then the page with the name only, without dab in parentheses after it, is the correct title for the disambiguation page of all people with that name.

I've copied this onto the Talk page and place a hangon on the page James Freeman (disambiguation). If this convinces you, then you can remove the tag, or respond on the page's Talk page if you feel I'm wrong. Thanks, Hndis (talk) 16:23, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Oh. OK. So I should be at Talk:James Freeman or Talk:James Freeman (disambiguation). Pdfpdf (talk) 22:55, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
I completely agree with you. It didn't occur to me that my comment was ambiguous, though on re-reading it I can see how you could have come to the conclusion you did. It was meant as a general comment about the general use (i.e. from my POV - general misuse) of those two words. I guess it wasn't very clever of me to not think about how someone else might interpret it. My apologies. As "they" say, it's always a good idea to engage brain before editing. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 00:13, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

About the Libyan Project Management Association page

It is the only official body that exists in Libya for project managers, management engineers, and project management professionals, and there should be some detailed information about it, so there is no harm of getting it recognized by Wikipedia.

It is no promotion, just information about a professional body for project management in Libya.
