Edit-warring
Were you not edit-warring too, in the same subject? How can you send that warning without applying it to yourself too?

- The onus is on you, you are the one wanting to change the content. Theroadislong (talk) 12:40, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
- I can understand that, but then why was the change not fought when that content had been there for months and months and then changed in December last year, and why are there so many other situations in which even the reverter is found by admins to be warring too, the way the rule over edit-warring states it (both editors will be scrutinized)? 180.149.231.229 (talk) 13:07, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for your assistance with my The Spot Barbershop page.
Thank you Theroadislong for your previous advice and assistance. I would like to make an attempt to edit and resubmit the page as it has already been deleted. I do have sources for my page as well as the rights to utilize the images therein. What is the proper protocol for resubmission without angering the powers that be?Ciroamiranda (talk) 19:32, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
- You are welcome to try again by clicking here Draft:The Spot Barbershop but it will be speedy deleted again if it is promotional in tone, you will of course need multiple reliable independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 20:05, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

Dear Theroadislong,
Could you please tell us what references/sources are missing or required concerning GVN's page ? Please do consider that the whole original Dutch text has been revised and approved. This original text is based on sources mainly in the Dutch language. Do you want us to translate these press articles, reviews, databases etc? Thanks in advance,

- The Dutch text has no bearing on the English article, your draft has no in line citations just a list of references at the end please read Wikipedia:Inline_citation#When_you_must_use_inline_citations. Theroadislong (talk) 20:35, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

The only comment I was given is to cite sources with footnotes, which I had done. I based this entry on the available entry about her in Russian and German, with added citations to scientific journal articles, as in the English entry for Vitaly Shafranov.
It is my first article, can you please be more specific on what you think is inappropriate?
Thank you.

Dear Theroadislong, thank you very much for your help, and for being so quick with it. I asked a colleague to help with formatting of citations to journal articles (I had copied the format from an old page, I think standards are higher now). I fixed as much as I could, we are still chasing a source for her paper on runaway electrons.
The issue on citations for her honors is especially tricky. I don't speak Russian, and the Russian presence in the web is very sketchy. Note that the same information on honors is present in her existing German and Russian wiki pages. But the link to the citation in those pages leads to a Russian page that I am told does not contain the information required, although they probably could be consulted about it.
FYI, she is a giant in Nuclear Fusion, only recently acknowledged with the Alfvén Prize (after 19 previous prizes were all given to men). I think it is important to have this wiki page for her because many of the younger people in the field do not know how much she has done. Therefore it may be best to publish a page with missing information than not to publish at all.
I'll remove the uncertain information on her career, she was leader of Russian tokamak research for many years, but I don't have any sources to cite.
I am also chasing copyrights for a photo of her. EmiliaWiki (talk) 10:33, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

Re: Draft:Take This To Heart Records submission
Thank you for taking the time to review my submission.
Can you help me understand how other entries like this are approved in comparison to mine?
They are very similar, and I find many of them, such as:
https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Topshelf_Records https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Run_for_Cover_Records https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Triple_Crown_Records
i'm happy to use other resources if the ones I provided are the problem. there's plenty to find on the web with a google search, i just tried to pick ones that were most relevant and discussing the exact matters i was stating in my entry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaytaylorpub (talk • contribs) 23:00, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
- It isn't clear what makes them notable they have a string of non notable artists. I haven't looked at the three examples you quote but please read WP:OSE. Theroadislong (talk) 23:04, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for sharing the OPE and notable wiki entries with me. I have previously read those however and i feel these two artists are definitely notable, as they've charted on billboard.

- Notability is not inherited, we need in-depth coverage of the record company itself, it isn't enough for them to have one barely notable artist on their books. Theroadislong (talk) 19:37, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
okay, thank you for that information. when i google search the labels name and remove results for it's own websites and social media, there's plenty of website highlighting the label, which feels pretty in-depth to me, so i'm still confused. What does this mean? This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability. Wikipedia requires significant coverage (not just mere mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject—see the guidelines on the notability of people, the golden rule and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue. Please improve the submission's referencing (see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners and Help:Introduction to referencing/1), so that the information is verifiable, and there is clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia. If additional reliable sources cannot be found for the subject, then it may not be suitable for Wikipedia at this time.

- The fact that there is a Hebrew article of Haim Harari is irrelevant we have different ideas on notability, if you could find a reliable source for him being a founder of Tel Aviv, it would be good to accept I think. Theroadislong (talk) 19:39, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
20:35:34, 11 March 2018 review of submission by Monica Wamsley
Hi, Theroadislong! The MAP page cites only reputable sources (NYT, CNN, Bloomberg, etc.).
Monica Wamsley (talk) 20:35, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
- But it is written in a very promotional tone like an advert. Theroadislong (talk) 20:41, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
I must disagree, Theroadislong. How, for example, is this promotional? "The algorithm searches for murder clusters with extremely low clearance rates." That is an explanation. The citation backs it up. Please give an explicit example of a promotional segment. Monica Wamsley (talk) 20:48, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Monica Wamsley: here is one: MAP has assembled the nation’s most complete accounting of criminal fatalities. The whole tone of your draft is similar to this. You can read WP:SPAM for more. L293D (☎ • ✎) 20:56, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
"Assembled" is not promotional. The citation, Bloomberg, says it is the most complete accounting of criminal fatalities: "This is the most complete list of case-level details of U.S. murders available anywhere, and the group’s website has open-sourced all of it." Monica Wamsley (talk) 21:07, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

Regarding your review of article / page Pandit Parsai. You mentioned it contains copyright violation. I am the copyright holder of the text and as such am authorised to publish the text. So there is no copyright violation.
But from your point of view, yes some proof would be need so that wiki is safeguarded. So help me understand how this formality can be fulfilled.
Please bear with me as I am new to wiki pages and may not understand your jargon or how a particular activity is to be done (like citation etc).
So simple links to those areas will be helpful.
Thanks for your assistance.

- You should read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials it would be much simpler though to re-write the content bearing in mind all content needs to be sourced to reliable independent sources. Please also note that creating autobiographies is not encouraged. Theroadislong (talk) 13:05, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
Need help
I created a page which was declined by you for lack of references. I would like to know what kind of reference would be required for an artist. Most links I tried were rejected by wiki. Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, or private third party websites. Can this not be made much more simpler by mentioning what's required instead of constant to and fro. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mohsyn (talk • contribs) 13:25, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Mohsyn: Instagram, YouTube, or any blog or self-written source is considered to be unreliable. An example of a reliable source would be, for a draft about a geological feature, citing the National Geographic magazine. You can read WP:RS for more details. 13:33, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Mohsyn: Any newspaper reports or magazine articles would suffice, articles on Wikipedia must be adequately supported by reliable sources so that information can be verified.
We only summarise what reliable, independent published sources have to say about a subject. If there are no such sources then we cannot have an article. Theroadislong (talk) 13:37, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

Regarding your comment: Comment: We now have 6 references that support he had a non notable wife, but no source for being "one of the founders of Tel Aviv" which is actually a useful claim to notability. Theroadislong (talk) 21:46, 11 March 2018 (UTC)
There are NUMEROUS references that Haim Harari was one of the 66 families that founded the city Tel-Aviv. Unfortunately, all the references are in HEBREW! So I added the reference - Founders of Tel-Aviv: https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/מייסדי_תל_אביב This is in HEBREW but his name (along with his wife) appears there חיים הררי ויהודית הררי
Please remember: The page 'Haim_Harari_(educator)' that I created is an English translation of the existing Hebrew one: https://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/חיים_הררי_(מחנך) If you don't understand Hebrew, please consider to pass it to some other Hebrew Wiki editors for approval.
Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Q936 (talk • contribs) 22:23, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

Submssion for Sahara Group Limited
Hello Theroadislong,
I am trying to write content about Sahara Group Limited, a company I found out to be over 20 years old, and after getting articles from various sources (including inside ones too), I have put up something quite detailed. IMindMap notability
Hi Theroadislong, I am new to Wikipedia and I am trying to create my first article. My first attempt to create an iMindMap (mind mapping tool) article was deemed not notable. I have been discussing this in the live help chatroom and now understand that reference to the tool in books would be more notable as a reference. As you initially judge my first attempt as not notable, I wanted to get your thoughts. Also, I can see from my talk page that someone has since attempted to create an article about iMindMap and it looks like it was deleted - does this affect my attempts to write an article about the tool? I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this and I am excited to create my first contribution to Wikipedia! Molslater (talk) 12:53, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Molslater
- I see that one version of it was deleted as "Unambiguous advertising or promotion" You are free to draft another one here WP:AFC. Articles on Wikipedia must be adequately supported by reliable sources so that information can be verified.

Hey I am a student at the school I did my wikipedia entry on. It was assigned to me from my teacher and I went around to each teacher and administrator gathering information, and then looking up statistics from my school for about half of the school year. You declined to make it an entry because it seemed less like an encyclopedia entry? What the heck am I supposed to fix, make my school less realistic? Should i just delete everything and start over and make it strictly: "My school is a school, all my information isn't real so just publish it so I dont get a bad grade."
Just tell me specifically what to change in your eyes fam.Jonahhhhh (talk) 20:34, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
- There is advice in the grey box on the decline notice, basically you need refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. We are not interested in what the school has to say about itself only what those who are unconnected with it have reported. You also have a conflict of interest. Greetings once again, Theroadislong. I hope you are doing well. Anyway, I am in need of your help and opinion if you don't mind. I created this page, Idol Producer and lately I saw a section "marketing campaign" which I think is promotional. I tried to undo it once but the author re-added it back. What are your thoughts. Thanks and good day. EROS message 10:46, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
Idol Producer--Marketing Campaign edited by Yang Hong
Hi, this is Yang Hong.
Sorry to bother you.
I added a part of marketing campaign of Idol Producer yesterday and it was deleted by you. Actually I am a student from Loughborough University, and this is our individual coursework for the Digital Marketing which needs to be handed in on 18th.March
I aim to describe the relationships between the sponsors & Idol Producer and how is the creative cooperation mode. It is what we learn in the daily lectures so I want to conclude what I see from the news or websites. Their novel implant advertisement is worth being posted for marketing research due to its effective outcomes.
In addition, I think what I wrote is a part of the competition rules, but not a promotion. For example, Nongfu Spring does have the power to influence the voting as each bottle of Vitamin Water has a unique voting code, which is the another voting distribution beyond the official voting website. I didn't mean to advertise for any brand and I am just finishing my coursework:).
This is the second time I rewrite the source, I really want it to be published and stay in the page of Idol Producer. My professor just wanted me to add more English academic sources after checking my sandbox but didn't point out any other problems of the content. I notice that you have rich experience in editing sources, I will be very grateful if you could give me some specific advice to make my words more objective.
Thank you very much.
Best regards Hong Yang — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yang Hong (talk • contribs) 20:16, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- Statements like “It is a novel cooperation mode, not just the title sponsor, but more like a strategic partner.” and “In Idol Producer, to maintain ornamental value as well as profitability, Iqiyi created a unique advertising implant method which perfectly blended the advertisement with the show.” are purely promotional we only report what the reliable sources say in a neutral tone, more academic sources would be welcomed. Hong--Idol Producer
Hello Theroadislong
Thank you for your advice. I've made some changes on the original Marketing Campaign of Idol Producer. Tomorrow I will continue to add several academic resources on it.
Could you please have a look at my new edit? I try to avoid those subjective expressions, hope that looks better. Please feel free to give me advice as I want to learn something useful from this process. And I am happy to perfect it with your help~
Thank you so much!

- For companies to have Wikipedia articles, there must be significant coverage of them in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Wikipedia has no interest in what you want to say about your own company. Please see WP:COI.Theroadislong (talk) 09:28, 19 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi, can you recheck my page. I have added a lot of references. I think the page qualifies as I have won and been nominated for some major awards - Royal Television Awards (RTS), BAFTA, World Music awards. Let me know if there is any errors. I can add more references to it also. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AndrewSimonMcA (talk • contribs) 10:59, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
- Writing autobiographies is STRONGLY discouraged. IMDb is not a reliable source for anything as it is user generated, we need in depth coverage about you. We are not interested in any thing you want to say about yourself only what reliable sources have reported. Your career section is largely unreferenced. Theroadislong (talk) 11:07, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
Hi, you left a message saying that some of my links don't support content - for example you highlighted the Prestige Award win. My link is http://www.prestigemusicaward.com/winners.htm which is their official site. If you hit that page and scroll down you will see that My Lonely My won for Movie Score, the director was Joe Scott but I am listed as the composer? Or the International Independent Film Awards which their official page link is http://iifilmawards.com/Silver_Award.html if you do a find on that page for My Lonely Me (the film) you will see that I won in the summer of 2015. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AndrewSimonMcA (talk • contribs) 15:51, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
- I didn't question the Prestige Award? but in any case it is not a notable award and the reference doesn't say "best" movie score? As an autobiography your references will need to be meticulous, because they will be minutely scrutinised. Theroadislong (talk) 15:59, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
Hi, just checking a couple of other ones - The Irish Times Awards my link is https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/film/ticket-awards-2017-the-best-films-of-the-year-1.3308461 if you do a search for "Rocky Ros Muc" you will see they have it listed under the Best Scores category for 2017 along with the other selections - Jackie etc.
One other thing I would like to check for We're Doomed! The Dad's Army story I have linked to the official BBC page for it. I know I am not listed but they only ever list the cast and director. But show that programme. I am listed on the official IMDB page for that film? Can I use the films IMDB Page as it is not my own?
I thought that I could use my IMDB to prove credits as other composers have like "Samuel Sim" his entire credit list is referenced to IMDB? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AndrewSimonMcA (talk • contribs) 16:17, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
- We cannot be expected to search for the reference it needs to be obvious, if you are mentioned then please cite the exact page. IMDb is never a reliable source for establishing notability. Regarding Samuel Sim please see other poor articles exist. Theroadislong (talk) 16:27, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
Sorry, I am a bit confused. Just trying to get the page correct. When you say obvious? For example the Irish Times awards - that is there official awards page for 2017. If you do a search on the page for Best Scores mine is listed? Of for the Dad's Army page, that is the official dad's Army BBC site about the movie? The problem being a composer and not an actor is, the only place I am listed are on the actual credits on the movie itself or on IMDB. As it is not my IMDB page but the movie's itself would that not suffice? Or the agency that represents me Air-Edel has all my credits listed can I use that page as proof as I have no control over what is posted there?
Thanks for any help, I am finding this all a bit confusing so any help would be greatly appreciated! — Preceding unsigned comment added by AndrewSimonMcA (talk • contribs) 16:33, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
- The reference here [2] does not mention you? The Air-Edel page is what we call a primary source, we require secondary sources as I have said before we are not interested in what you say about your self only what others have said. You need to provide detailed references showing that you have received significant coverage, in reliable sources that are independent of you. The essay, Wikipedia:No amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability, may explain this better. Theroadislong (talk) 17:02, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
The issue I have is in film awards they don't have best composer award but Best score or Best Soundtrack. So Rocky Ros Muc was selected as one of the best Scores by the Irish Times. I am the composer of that score as listed on IMDB or Air-Ede's site, so I did receive that award it's just they call it Best Score. By using the Irish Times link it shows that Rocky was selected as a best score and the secondary link Air-Edel proves that I was the composer for that particular score? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AndrewSimonMcA (talk • contribs) 17:08, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
- The issue you have is that Wikipedia requires there to be in-depth coverage of you in the sources, if you are not even mentioned then we cannot have an article about you. Theroadislong (talk) 17:14, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
21:58:10, 19 March 2018 review of submission by Heartsonacoffeemug
Thank you for the fast reviewing process. I was wondering what kind of information is needed for online journals to be included in the wiki? It is very unlikely that notable publications are written about a journal itself. Still, basic information on online journals might be useful for a small, specialized readership. Other journals, like Cell Cycle or Yeast (many more could be mentioned), have similar amounts or less information referred to. The latter wiki article even references an own publication without any relevance to the content. I would be glad about any clarification on this and help for improving the wiki entry. Thanks! Heartsonacoffeemug (talk) 21:58, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
- If you can find any reviews of the Microbial Cell journal that would help.
The fact that other other poor articles exist is not a good reason for adding another though. I have removed the pointless reference from theYeast (journal) article, thank you. You could ask for more specialist help at the Wikipedia:Teahouse. Theroadislong (talk) 22:21, 19 March 2018 (UTC)

Thank you!

- Your sources need to be inline not tagged onto the end as a list see WP:REFB also see conflict of interest. Terms like these are unacceptable puffery "internationally renowned" "national and international acclaim" " prestigious “Award of the State of Austria”" "pioneer in sustainable architecture" "state of the art"Theroadislong (talk) 10:08, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

I'd rather you reviewed it than that other person as they are clearly on a power trip. I responded to your initial requested changes and the follow-up reviewer responded with some mumbo jumbo about it not being neutral. Yet nowhere in the article is there even a hint of opinion.

Probably you overlooked the book-section:

Melissa N. Garrett Wikipedia Page
I am creating this page on behalf of the person it is about, Melissa N. Garrett I am very confused as to why it is being rejected, as this person is a three times published author and very much real and known. It is very frustrating to see this page keep getting rejected when there are pages on here that are only two sentences long, whereas this is a legitimate attempt to create a page for the public's information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by N12794 (talk • contribs) 09:24, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
Meridian (private aviation company)
Dear Theroadislong,
This message is to inform you that the content for the Meridian wiki has been handed over to, revised, and rewritten by an independent business aviation consultant who specializes in marketing, editorial, and communication initiatives within the aviation industry. Since then, 18 inline citations have been added, "marketed wording" has been revised, and over 100 edits have been completed.
It would be greatly appreciated and helpful if you could please provide the specific areas of the article in which you feel need further revision. If you feel it would be beneficial to reach out to me directly (via email), I would be happy to provide an email upon request.
Thank you for your feedback to help us sort out the page errors. Please let me know what additional steps should be taken next in order to get this wiki live. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Meridianteb (talk • contribs) 20:04, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- I'm afraid that "an independent business aviation consultant who specializes in marketing, editorial, and communication initiatives"is exactly the wrong person to be writing a neutral Wikipedia article. Running online copyright violation software showed 40% likelihood of copying, with wholes sentences being copied and pasted, this is totally unacceptable on Wikipedia, all content needs to be written in a your own words referring to independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 20:17, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
Resubmitted my page for review.
Hi, the page started by me - "RSG Chess" was rejected because of bad referencing. I edited it and added new sources, like the open-source repositories of the RSG Chess. I hope these sources will be accepted, because the source code of a software gives us ALL information for the project. The page I provided also shows README so every user (not only programmers) can understand all TRUE information for the project.
Can you please re-review the page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Radi.cho (talk • contribs) 16:19, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
Sorry if I'm spamming you :-) (I'm new in wikipedia and need help). I recently saw your comment on my page (Draft:RSG Chess) and I made few changes. The external links are now in a section called "External links". But I cannot find more sources and references (I used the listed ones while writing the page). The problem is they are related to the developer and they're not "independent", but they're in the core of the software in the article "RSG Chess". Is it possible the page to be accepted for publishing now or I MUST ref some new sources? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Radi.cho (talk • contribs) 19:05, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

We only summarise what reliable, independent published sources have to say about a subject. If there are no such sources then we cannot have an article. Theroadislong (talk) 20:20, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

- It still reads like an advert and I see another reviewer agrees and has declined it. Creating an article on Wikipedia is one of the hardest things to do, it is doubly difficult when you have a conflict of interest, my advise would be to wait for someone else to write the article which they definitely will if the company is notable enough. Deletion of Albert Reuss draft page for copyright infringement
My recent submission for a page creation on Albert Reuss has been deleted due to copyright infringement. The cited infringement (https://artuk.org/discover/stories/albert-reuss-the-artist-as-refugee) is claiming that my page is based on this website or contains content from it. The website page in question is an article I was asked to write for artuk.org as I am the author of the book. I can prove who I am if needed and can also prove I am the author of the book.
You may find other links or information in the page draft that could also be considered copyright infringement but these are sources I have permission from, again, as the author of the book I have sought permission prior to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SusanSoyinka (talk • contribs) 14:03, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
