An article that may be of interest to you
[edit]Hello Thaes, just wanted to drop by to mention something that you might be interested in, since I noticed you are very well versed in theological subjects. Free and Candid Disquisitions is seeking peer review comments before it goes up for Featured Article. I already reviewed it for Good Article, but I am sure the author would be very appreciative of any insight you might have if you're able. Thanks again for the assist on the Croatian sources at DYKN! Fritzmann (message me) 17:34, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Fritz! Thanks for the heads up; I'm still getting used to the "back rooms" of Wikipedia, but I'm more than happy to try and help with a peer review. Thanks for pointing it out to me. My Dissenters history is a little spotty, but I'm sure I can contribute something.
- And no problem on the Croatian translation. Please don't ever hesitate to ask if you ever need my assistance with Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, or Montenegrin sources on anything; all of them are mutually intelligible (outside of some low prestige dialects) and I've created a couple articles using only Croatian sources. - @222emilia222: Thanks for the message; I really appreciate it! I've been a fan of Midwest emo for a while now, but I just really got into please be nice so I made the page. Honestly, seeing the state Midwest emo is in right now, I was thinking about trying to get it (and Emo revival) up to GA status at some point. I took a look at that draft you got going and it looks great! Do you mind if I contribute to it? You might want to check out isthisbandemo
.com as a source; it even has its own page here on Wikipedia! Thanks again for the message! ThaesOfereode (talk) 23:15, 30 April 2024 (UTC) - thank you so much!! i did stumble upon that website while researching but I wasnt sure if it was reliable enough for wikipedias standard. I have to admit i dont fully understand the cut-off.. But now i will definetely use it!
- And of course you can contribute to the list! I didnt even know that was possible for drafts??
- Again, u did a great job on the camping in alaska page!
- PS: what is GA status? 222emilia222 (talk) 10:32, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- @222emilia222: Yeah, I though about that and it probably isn't a great source in and of itself; it might be a good external link for the end of the page or to use as inspiration. If you're curious about reliable sources, you can always confer with WP:RS and there's a fairly regularly updated list of reliable and unreliable sources as WP:RSPSS. For music in general, try to stay away from self-published sources (Wordpress, people's blogs, etc.) and aim towards magazines. And yeah, anything you publish to Wikipedia is public; it may be hard to find but someone will still be able to edit it. I'll take a look and give a hand. "GA status" refers to Good article status. This is a process where editors nominate articles they have done a lot of work on for a very basic peer review and the quality of the page is raised to above B class. From there, they can go through more rigorous peer review to Featured article status, which is supposed to represent the best Wikipedia has to offer. Thanks again for the kind words! And if you ever need a hand working on something or need some help with Wikipedia, always feel free to drop a line here on my talk page! ThaesOfereode (talk) 11:17, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

Collaboration on Hell in Catholicism Page
[edit]Hello @ThaesOfereode. I saw your suggestion on the WikiProject Catholicism talk page to fix up the Hell in Catholicism page. After reviewing the page, I definitely agree that the page is in need of substantial work, and I would like to help collaborate with you on it. This account that I am using is very new, but I have a bit of experience in editing and adding articles on Wikipedia for several years now. BoatInAStorm (talk) 19:53, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
- @BoatInAStorm: Great! I was starting to worry no one would help me try to fix it. First things first, do you think the sections are good or do you think we should reconsider the layout? I think the current one is okay, but I think either a "by era" (e.g., Patristic era, Middle Ages, etc.) set up or a "by doctrine" (e.g., CCC, revelations, etc.) set up. I'm partial to the first but I'm open to your ideas. From there, we can split up tasks and foci. ThaesOfereode (talk) 21:50, 29 May 2024 (UTC)

Hey, "mentor" not responding and I have a few questions :)
[edit]First of all, if you don't want to respond that is totally fine. It's just that my assigned wikipedia mentor hasn't responded to any questions on their talk page in a few months. I get that this isn't a responsibility you asked for, still I would very much appreciate it!
I have two question about citations:
1) I wondered how i would cite something that is in a game, or a movie for that matter. For example an UI element or text in a game, or a dialogue in a movie. Would I have to screenshot the thing in question and reference that image? or can i just directly cite a movie/game/video?
2) How would you go about citing a youtube interview specifically? Is it ok to cite it similiarly to an article (cite web, etc) or do I have to link to a transcript of the interview (if so, assuming i have to transcribe it, where would I post that transcript for it to be considered reliable)? 222emilia222 (talk) 11:24, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
- No problem at all; I'm happy to take on mentorship duties for you.
- 1. For UI, I think citing the game itself is probably fine enough, since it would constitute a similar rationale as not needing to cite the plot. You could upload a fair use image of the UI to Wikipedia to demonstrate a facet of the game. You can see a really good example of that on The Thing (video game). With respect to movies, I suspect that would similarly fall under the plot citing policy, but I'm sure a well-articulated fair use rationale could be used there as well.
- 2. Using {{cite web}} is definitely acceptable, but I would use {{cite AV media}}, since it will allow you to cite the timestamp in a similar way to citing a page in {{cite book}}. With respect to YouTube videos, make sure any claims made follow WP:BLPSELFPUB.
- Let me know if you need any clarification or have any more questions. I'm happy to help where I can. ThaesOfereode (talk) 11:56, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
- thank you so so much!! :)) 222emilia222 (talk) 13:17, 24 June 2024 (UTC)

The article Szczechów has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
No equivalent article exists on the Polish wikipedia, earlier versions of this article included the text "or Szczechowo" which already exists
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Kiwipete (talk) 05:10, 15 September 2024 (UTC)

- Thank you today for the article, introduced: "Ever wonder why Greek and Sanskrit cognates involving gutturals don't always match up like you expect and usually before an /r/ sound? Yeah, me either. But in 1881, a German linguist commented on this oddity and proposed a sound law to explain it. "Largely forgotten by the scholarly world", the law developed newfound interest when Dutch linguist Alwin Kloekhorst gave the law a full defense in 2011, giving Dr. Weise a high honor: naming it after him. As of now, there are no Proto-Indo-European FAs." --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:02, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks Gerda! I appreciate it! ThaesOfereode (talk) 12:56, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- You did it ;) - I uploaded pics of a trip that was a 10-day celebration of a 16 November event, but the day was also when a dear friend died. We sang Hevenu shalom aleichem at his funeral yesterday, and it was good. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:41, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

Precious
[edit]historic personalities in languages
Thank you for quality articles such as Weise's law, Meillet's principle, Christian Bartholomae, Erik Sparre, Bernlef and The Servile State, for "de-technicalizing" and avoiding "descending into extreme theoretical historical linguistics", - you are an awesome Wikipedian!
You are recipient no. 2958 of Precious, a prize of QAI. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:21, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, Gerda! I appreciate your kind words! ThaesOfereode (talk) 12:47, 17 December 2024 (UTC)

You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Magic (play)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Speedy deletion nomination of Mark "Pelli" Pellizzer
[edit]A tag has been placed on Mark "Pelli" Pellizzer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. DYK for Meillet's principle
[edit]On 14 December 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Meillet's principle, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Meillet's principle), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed.
