If a reader specifically types "John E. Bennett" into the search bar, they are not hoping to waste their time looking through a list of 20-30 people not named "John E. Bennett". If you wish to delete such disambiguation pages out-of-process, you'll need to seek a change in policy. These are allowed. BD2412 T 18:03, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- Clearly I disagreed with that and your use of rollback was inappropriate. Rollback is "... used to undo problematic edits such as vandalism" per WP:ROLLBACK. I'd expect an experienced editor such as yourself not to make that type of mistake. Tassedethe (talk) 18:06, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Tassedethe,
I came across this article as the page move left a broken redirect. Is there more than one basketball player named Charles Smith born in 1975? Titles usually don't include the birth month. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 22:45, 3 February 2022 (UTC)

This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". About this merge
[edit]Hi Tassedethe, on this edit, which I have reverted, I want to make the point that a short name, like Tom or Chris, should not be treated as the same thing as some other longer name, such as Thomas or Christopher. For one thing, many people now are not shortening their name, the short name is what they were given; for another, there are other longer names that come into the question (Tomas, Christian, Christine, Christabel, and so on). And whether people use pet names or not, hatnotes on pages directing people to visit dab pages for pet names are seriously irritating! Moonraker (talk) 12:33, 27 May 2022 (UTC)

Beth Taylor
[edit]I created Beth Taylor with disambiguator because there was a red link for a sports person and a (deleted) article about a writer, both linked to the unqualified name. Can you please check the links to Beth Taylor for those not meaning the mezzo? Past midnight here, so I'm not functioning well enough for such tasks. Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Missing articles by occupation/Journalists - US for example, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2022 April 19 another. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:20, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, I checked incoming links before moving the article. I would have fixed incorrect links if there had been any. The only direct incoming links for Beth Taylor are ones that you have correctly introduced. Tassedethe (talk) 22:24, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for checking, but the two mentioned are obviously wrong, now pointing to the singer from sports, and from a deleted article. The sports person needs a dab, and I have no idea which, and I have no energy to check more than ten other pages where Beth Taylor is linked, possibly wrongly. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:32, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- Articles outside of mainspace do not need to be fixed, and I do not normally fix them. The AFD should not be edited as it reflects the correct link at the time it was closed. Tassedethe (talk) 22:35, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- Sigh. No, of course not. But someone wanting to fill Women in Red red links may just drop the person with a blue link, instead of finding that she is a different one. Just an example. - Navboxes do have to be changed to no redirect, or don't show the topic bold. I did it for Waechter in Template:Vienna State Opera directors.

Change to Carl Schell
[edit]Hi Tassedethe, I'm having trouble understanding the point of removing the disambiguation for the article on Carl Schell. Sure, it's the only article on a person by that name right now, but there's no policy reason that the only article by a particular name can't have a more-specific title. --CanadianJudoka (talk) 20:51, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not sure the lack of an explicit policy saying you can't do something is a strong argument, we are after all WP:NOTBUREAUCRACY. There is whole set of policies and guidelines regarding article titles and disambiguation at WP:DISAMBIGUATION. And the first line has "...it refers to more than one subject covered by Wikipedia...". MOS:DABPEOPLE
[edit]Hello Tassedethe, I have noticed that the dab pages you create no longer conform to MOS:DABPEOPLE, for example Jack Elder (revision 1113678245). The guidance for people dab pages says: include their birth and death years (when known), and only enough descriptive information that the reader can distinguish between different people with the same name
. I shouldn't have to quote the MOS to you as you'd be most aware of it, given this is an area where I see your edits all the time. I wonder why this has come about as you used to produce MOS-compliant dab pages? Schwede66 21:38, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
- Unfortunately since the demise of Dabfix as far as I'm aware there no automated way to fill out disambiguation entries. So for cases like Jack Elder I do the manual creation, and decide if the entries on their own satisfy the "only enough descriptive information" portion of the MOS. In this case I decided that (politician), (umpire) and (luger) were enough. For examples like Evelyn Murray, I decided it was necessary to add the extra information. Thanks. Can you share your views on whether to keep the article List of Hindi songs recorded by Asha Bhosle or split this into smaller articles? I would be grateful if you help us retaining the article as it is. Because, it is based on all the songs of a singer in a single language. If articles like this splittens into 3-5 separate articles, many unwanted articles will be created which absolutely have no relevance.

The article Suraj Singh has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Alex Gilbert Disambiguation
[edit]Hello! Just reaching out about the following Disambiguation page Alex Gilbert. With this Alex on the article at Alex Gilbert (adoption advocate), is it suitable for this Alex to be as the main Alex Gilbert page as the subject also is a writer and presenter so not just (adoption advocate). Let me know your thoughts. Thank you! And to add alternative Alex Gilberts at the top of the page once moved? I don't want to do it as I saw you created the disambiguation page. ArleneHerman (talk) 00:03, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
Hello, Tassedethe,
When you move an article, could you leave a redirect for the article talk page? If you don't, they are deleted as broken redirects when this doesn't need to happen if, when you move a page, you also leave a redirect. There's no advantage to deleting article talk page redirects so they might as well be left to point to the new article talk page. Thank you! I hope you had a good weekend. Liz Read! Page moves
[edit]Hello, Tassedethe,
I know you handle a lot of page moves so I'm wondering if you can look into recent article page moves done by User:Raghavendra TS. They don't look proper to me but I'm not really up-to-speed on MOS guidelines on acceptable article page titles. Thanks for any help you can supply here. Liz Read! Talk! 23:43, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
- Yuck. At first glance all wrong. If a placename is agreed to have changed, then it would be moved to the new name. e.g. Bombay to Mumbai. It would never been added as an alternate; so no Bombay (Mumbai). And the big word there is agreed, just because a place has an "official" name, then it may not be agreed to move. (See the long history of proposed moves at Kyiv.) Saying all that, I don't know what the current state of agreement is regarding official Indian placenames, but I think the moves should be reverted, as whatever the correct name is, it is not these hybrids. Help!
[edit]Hi, Tassedethe,
I see you work with page moves and I'm hoping that you can help me out with a mess I stumbled upon. I came across an article that was in bad shape and moved it to Draft space, Draft:Farheen Haq. Only then did I see a broken redirect to Template space. Apparently, this editor took a template, Template:Article templates/Artist, wrote an article on the template space as if it were a content page and then moved it into main space. Is there any way to remove the recently added content and keep it on a Draft space page and revert the template back to its original shape and move it back to Template space? The only solution I can see is just do a big revert before the editor added their content but I think they should be allowed to continue their work on a draft. Please let me know if you know of any elegant solutions to this problem that can separate these two pages. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 23:54, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Liz, I had a go. All the old history is back at Template:Article templates/Artist, and the draft Draft:Farheen Haq I hope just has the specific editors contributions. Tassedethe (talk) 15:33, 30 April 2023 (UTC)
The article Greatest Hitz has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
The page only links to one existing Wikipedia article: the one about Limp Bizkit's album. The article on the Soulja Slim album of the same name has been deleted since the link to it was added to this disambiguation page.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. SwineHerd (talk/contribs) 08:19, 9 May 2023 (UTC)

- Both of your replies are in error. One, the page is already mentioned on Hamburger Kunsthalle without a link, so it is not an orphan; all that it requires is a simple wikilink. This can usually be remedied by mindful patrollers who search Wikipedia for the article title first, instead of automatically tagging it as an orphan. This requires common sense, of course. Two, I didn't ask you to come to the talk page to look at my plans, I asked you to come to the talk page to make a note about your plans to move the article, which were also in error.
