User:Gringoladomenega (and other accounts)
Will do so, to the IP address (he has thousands, maybe literally!) that communicated with me yesterday. He is my (wiki)friend? Well, so are you, Snowman, Drmies, MYS77 and some more, at least I'd like to think so. As far as the technicalities go, I actually agree with you, and for purposes of clarity I write (for example) "Born in Sils, Province of Girona, Catalonia...", but Gringo reverts me everytime and compresses the second part to just "Girona". Oh well...
Cheers, keep it up --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:44, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
Hello there,
thanks for, once again, dropping a line in my WP:FOOTY reports. Now, for the bits and pieces: 1 - any suggestions on how to duly display prose in the PERSONAL section? 2 - you said, very aptly, that one should not leave a message in the page of a dynamic IP ten days after an edit, because they won't see it. The same can be said about article talkpage conversations, they are there for people that want to engage in teamwork, not "editors" as the one in Mr. Zubikarai's page. Furthermore, if they can't work with the message thingy, it's very likely they won't be able to do so with the article talkpage one.
3 - OK, maybe "ETA fanboy" is not a very correct thing to say in terms of an encyclopedical approach, but I'm afraid I stand by what I said in terms of overall meaning (please notice the geolocate fields of the IPs editing in Zubikarai, Spain and France), I bet this very same person has tears come to their eyes whenever they read about how ETA blackmailed Bixente Lizarazu because he played for "the enemy". I had a similar problem in Braulio Nóbrega, someone removing again and again his legal problems section when the player himself pleaded GUILTY (a friend, a girlfriend "at work"? Go figure).
As always, thanks for your time and help, and cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:10, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
- 1: storyline duly adjusted; 3: good point, could be that (remove any connections to ETA that (can) make the person in question look bad). Cheers again --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:21, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Your revert of my edit (rowspans) and a request for advice
Hi there! Two things: 1. I saw you reverted my addition of rowspans to Leroy Lita’s career stats on accessibility grounds. Fair enough… I’d seen rowspans in most articles on footballers and the Thierry Henry article which I use as a reference point for editing also has them. 2. I have a question you might be able to answer? have been searching for a guide or a policy on what to include in career stats tables. I’m currently editing Massimo Maccarone and I noticed Middlesbrough went through a series of qualifying rounds before playing in the group and the knockout stages of the 2005/2006 UEFA Cup (http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/season=2005/matches/all/index.html). Regards, -Robby.is.on (talk) 12:00, 1 May 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for the speedy reply. I greatly appreciate our pointers. The football players template will be my reference point from now on and the FAQ answers a bunch of questions I’ve had.
- Okay, I guess that’ll be a lot of matches to count and check for goals then. ;-) Cheers, -Robby.is.on (talk) 14:03, 1 May 2015 (UTC).
2015–16 Birmingham City F.C. season page
Hello, I noticed you re-done the page to match previous season articles which is fine I just thought it would look a bit better but that's not a problem. Also the players contracts run out on the 1 July 2015 and the season pages covers the period 1 July through to 30 June, so why would they appear on the previous season article. If you look through other club season pages all the released players before the start of the season appear on the appropriate starting season not on the date the players were released. --Skyblueshaun (talk) 12:53, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for clearing that up, I will however continue to do on the next season for releases as of 1 July 2015 as previous seasons have done so. Would it be better though on the Birmingham City page to have a more detailed table like I did previous on the transfers out section. I know it matches with previous season but I feel it is a better detailed table. --Skyblueshaun (talk) 13:37, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi, if a player has not played in the cup final but the club has won it, will the player get that "honour" in the section? Have you got any source or something like that for it? RRD13 দেবজ্যোতি (talk) 17:29, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

PC update - Reply
I told you several times I cannot work with the tilde thing to save my life, and no one has taken a few seconds to explain it to me after I "confessed" that. Also, you say "both 4th May and 6th May are equally correct, because both of those dates are unambiguously after their club's last game and before their next". So, 4 May 2015 is correct, I wager. Maybe I am being extra picky with all those changes in the PC updates, but the same can be said with all these messages (I repeat, I know for sure you mean well about myself and your attitude toward the project is beyond all doubt).
Thank you, continue the good work and sorry for any inconvenience --84.90.219.128 (talk) 08:30, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
- I think I tried that once, and came out empty (as in the ACTUAL tildes were showing in the article/infobox after I clicked "save"). I'll try it next time I update a box, then message if you for assistance if it goes wrong. Thanks for (ano)the(r) tip, keep it up. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 09:06, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
Man, I'm at a (complete and utter) loss... Tried it at Luis Aguiar, received a note previous to clicking "save" warning of a potentially dangerous filter I had inserted. I thought that what was required for a proper PC update was to insert the "~" symbol, five times then click save, what am I doing wrong?
Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 00:39, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
- The latest I tried, Carlos Vigaray, yielded the same confusion. I wrote the five tildes ("18:44, 11 May 2015 (UTC)") immediately after the pcupdate field, and received the same message, "An automated filter has identified this edit as potentially unconstructive, and it has been disallowed. If this edit is constructive, please report this error.". Any suggestions? Maybe I'm missing a symbol or similar... cheers, thanks for the assistance --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:41, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
LOL! If you notice, a timestamp appears in the paragraph above, when I wrote five tildes manually! So, it works here, but not in an infobox? I think I'm going crazy :( --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:45, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Miscellaneous
Hello kind sir,
judging from my note at WP:FOOTY and the other in Snowman's page (now, solely regarding Formose Mendy's youth spell), would you consider, like Snowman, that his stint with Lyon from ages 14-17 is not sourced? If you do, nevermind, box stays without the years, for reasons that elude me.
Also, per what you said about FOOTBALLDATABASE.eu (need to register, not being very accurate), I'd like to know what do you think of this (please see here http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=V%C3%ADctor_Ruiz_Torre&diff=660394146&oldid=655454523), i was this close to removing it but thought I'd consult you first, you are level-headed I am not, I think you have to buy these online, what good do they do here, especially when Mr. Ruiz already has two reliable English sources for this or that part of his storyline?! This user has added/adds/will add this to thousands of players with connections to Italian football.
Thanks as always, cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 21:34, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the pin-point input, as always. About some of Mendy's Sporting B goals, maybe the url has "expired", I guarantee you I added a newspaper article with match report in due time. Last but not least, thanks for alerting me to the fact Consolat already has a WP article, already retrieved it to Mr. Mendy and other players. Cheers back, the "anon" :) --84.90.219.128 (talk) 15:00, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Another doubt (I asked GS because I think I saw someone mention this a while ago at WP:FOOTY, he did not reply): do intros have to be necessarily ref'd? In case they do not, I don't see the point in Mendy's case, let alone with LINKS (of course I am not going to go against the grain, not going to revert/remove anyone/anything). --84.90.219.128 (talk) 15:30, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- A match report that says what? "Sporting de Gijón, nearing RELEGATION", I did not add the match report of the actual relegation because Mendy did not play in that match, but do you want me to replace it? --84.90.219.128 (talk) 15:57, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
Ah sorry, forgot that part (six starts, X games), certainly not ref'd, my oversight. More refs have been added, with the storyline duly adjusted to better convey what the corresponding ref states. Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 16:12, 13 May 2015 (UTC)

Simone Pepe
Yes, again I behaved horribly as far as the guidelines go. However, if you think the new refs user Messirulez added to Mr. Pepe's international career because of my (somewhat wrong/misleading) tip are worst than the FIGC.IT link, then i'll have a nervous breakdown...
Also, I did not necessarily told Messirulez that adding links as refs was a 100% no-no, merely there were better options. Maybe I should have rephrased my original message better, i'll give you that. Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 21:32, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
- "Choosing to miss the..." means I'm deliberately acting against consensus, not very cool but perhaps you meant something else, if so I apologize for the confusion. Again please note, I DID remove the ref/link, but immediately contacted the user who inserted it so that teamwork could be "activated" and other options could be considered. Isn't that what WP is all about?

I realise now that you were right and I was wrong, teams in the same divisions can transfer between each other even when the transfer window is closed, as you said, it only applies with the transfer window being open in an example case of Memphis Depay to Manchester United, if they are not in the same division then the transfer isn't official until the window has opened, I hope you will accept my sincere apologies for what has happened and thanks for your help and guidance to me, I can now use this help for better editing habits in the near future.

Ah, not Harwood, Greater Manchester. Oops. Regards, Mr Stephen (talk) 20:16, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
Hello there, all well?
Answering your question, as FDJ shows he played for the Sines VG. ZZ is correct for Portuguese footballers 99,99999999999999% of the time but, considering it's user-generated, the occasional mistake will pop up now and then.
Box: I tried to compress only to the village of death ("Amorim, Portugal" as the district appears in the storyline), was reverted. I don't understand that current order of categories, but I assume neither you understood mine. All in all, I think I fared pretty well, I thought I was going to have more reverted, but I had the intention of this being my first and last edit(s) there, so it stays as it is as far as I'm concerned.
Cheers, happy week --84.90.219.128 (talk) 14:58, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
- The technicalities: 1 - death place compression, why can't we have just "Amorim" in box, just curious; 2 - I think I understand your order of cats better, but it looks kind of scrambled no (clubs from different countries mixed)? Cheers back --84.90.219.128 (talk) 12:36, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
Hi, when you have a spare moment would you mind reviewing List of York City F.C. players (fewer than 25 appearances) at FLC? Thanks, Mattythewhite (talk) 21:56, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
Regarding what I wrote in this user's page, and WHERE I wrote it, I did so because I felt it bore relation, just that. Talking about my reversions, I felt bad that I operated a blanket revert and reinstated many of his refs (especially the one for his Spain under-21 spell, the ref about his first Levante goal was a ref from BEFORE the game if you noticed Timmy's page! I now added a ref for the actual match).
The citations bit being wrong eludes me, but you are a tremendously veteran and respected user, and if you say him doing that constitutes a problem I believe you 100%. From what I read in Mr. Pallardó's article, his level of English still continues to be "challenging", let's leave it at that, and there I also found stuff I found back in the day in articles where he contributed, overdetail like no other.
Cheers, sorry for the inconvenience --84.90.219.128 (talk) 16:12, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, was thinking about what you said about his level of English ("The standard of English at Rob Lainton is not good...", verbatim) and got all mixed up, have already duly rephrased myself and offer sincere apologies, please drop (even if only) one line to say you accept them, I meant no harm. Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 16:41, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
But I was not off the mark completely, was I (wrong as I was to associate you with the sentence)? OVERDETAIL (all the goals, all the injuries) is a definite no-no, is it not? --84.90.219.128 (talk) 16:53, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
- Indeed, what constitutes o/detail and what not is a bit iffy, subjective. But to write about every injury Pallardó had as a professional, none serious, is over the top no (adding the completely uninteresting game where he returned following the ailment)? I think (of course I may be not 100% fair in that assessment, this article is one my many wikibabies) article is now well-balanced, and notice that 99% of the contents are sourced. I also do concur Timmy is "on the good side", so to speak.
Cheers back --84.90.219.128 (talk) 20:27, 23 July 2015 (UTC)

Re:League division in lead
I know what you mean. I think maybe User:TeaLover1996 has confused the concepts of "consensus" and "custom"; there may not be a consensus to remove the division the club plays in from the lead, but from what I've seen, there does seem to be a custom to do so. Maybe that's just on the articles I keep an eye on though, so I don't necessarily have an adequate cross-section of all articles. Is it worth petitioning WP:FOOTY for a consensus on the issue? – PeeJay 10:37, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Soccerbase template
Hi there, any news on the Soccerbase season template for career stats tables? GiantSnowman 11:37, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- No need to apologise - I'd also completely forgotten about it until the start of the season yesterday. Looking at this URL I think we only need
player=
andseason=
, obviously as well asname=
(for players who have a disambiguated article title) andaccessdate=
if we can get it somehow formatted so that the template knows thatseasonid=145
should automatically display as '2015–16' then that'd be ideal. So for Hanson, we'd have {{soccerbase season|player=51744|season=145|name=James Hanson|accessdate=9 August 2015}} to display as "Games played by James Hanson in 2015–16". Soccerbase. Centurycomm. Retrieved 9 August 2015. or similar. GiantSnowman 12:48, 9 August 2015 (UTC)- Looks good to me! GiantSnowman 17:34, 9 August 2015 (UTC)

What I meant by "mess" was not you obviously, I meant the habitual user. What I also know is that his version seemed to suffer less of a cleanup than mine even tough I barely touched your wording (if at all), I don't know if the ESPN ref I added for his La Liga debut is already dead, I could add a "living" one in Spanish but I fear all would be replaced by that "ref" called BDFUTBOL.com; in the last reference/sentence, what is the problem in using the actual title and/or the "sic" template?
Don't worry article won't be edited again by me, all the best and have a nice week --84.90.219.128 (talk) 13:03, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- Instead of pouting like a big baby, I should converse with you and try to improve the article :) I found two refs that actually support the storyline: 1 - refs for his Málaga debut (the actual game http://www.skysports.com/football/celta-vigo-vs-malaga/272242 and an article saying it was his first game in league http://mas.farodevigo.es/canales/celta-vigo/noticias/hasta-luego-obrero-futbol/216.html); 2 - ref for him signing for Celta from Salamanca (http://www.marca.com/2009/06/21/futbol/equipos/salamanca/1245617435.html). Can I remove two entries of BDFUTBOL with these or not? If you say no, OK nevermind. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 13:23, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
I copied the ESPN link from another player, did not check if it was still "breathing" and I should have. I know (this I read) the SKY link does not even mention Bustos, but if accompanied by the Faro de Vigo work it suffices - but don't worry, I'll find a match report where he is indeed mentioned. MY typo in Piquionne? You mean Deb's typo, don't you? Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 13:50, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- Also (seeing now you reinstated that), can you please tell me why, in your opinion, it is necessary to repeat the infobox in storyline ("Bustos played 56 games for Salamanca")? --84.90.219.128 (talk) 13:53, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
Then, as Deb customarily does, we should repeat the infobox in storyline with ALL clubs, no? --84.90.219.128 (talk) 13:58, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- I was trying to avoid saying "Celta" all the time in storyline (or at the very least in the same paragraph). Also, I see you won't allow to have the season of tournament (in this case Copa del Rey) inserted, have it your way and cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 14:24, 17 August 2015 (UTC)

Sir Alf
Hi, do you have access to a ref that provides Sir Alf's correct BCFC managerial stats? Comparing the dates of his tenure and the 1977/78 fixtures, Soccerbase appear to have added a random match. By my reckoning, the figures at List of Birmingham City F.C. managers are the correct ones. Thanks, Mattythewhite (talk) 20:24, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

Technicality
A question to a user I respect sincerely, let me have an honest reply please, just "Yes" or "No", don't wear that keyboard :)
Just wondering (and no, the world as I know it will not cease to exist if the reply is "nay", I only want to help out), since you know my editing M.O. to and fro after these nearly nine years (next month): do you think any of my articles (creations or massive contributions to those already in existence) has ever come remotely close to GA or FA status? The only thing that comes to mind where I go against the grain more than one should is the unpiping of the clubs in storyline, but maybe there is more (not related to the work itself, but the summaries? I have given up on me, unfortunately)...

can you please offer some suggestion as to what should I do, after reading the thread "Doubt" at WP:FOOTY? Cheers and happy weekend --84.90.219.128 (talk) 09:08, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
- Honesty much appreciated. However, Struway, NOTHING justifies the appalling insults I received for having a polite difference of opinions, the summary tirades you cite at WPF regarding my person are all correct (I am not going to say idiotically "who, me? Never") but they are only directed to vandals (except the "update much?", that is downright stupid I admit it), not saying I have any right to utter them because I do not, just saying. Oh, and I better brace for some more, the other person does not seem to like crybabies (with whom am I going to reason and find answers when the going gets tough? The person that tells me "Your whore of a mother" just because?!). Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 12:30, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
Speaking of this user (he has returned, but at least he has left me be, I promise to follow suit if he stays pat), a word of advice need I: in Pablo Calandria, I'm turning blue in the face because people keep up adding stats for all competitions to his box (last club only), and I won't contact this person not even at gun point (check out this edit of his in the Spanish WP, troll extraordinaire https://es.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Arturo_Sanhueza&diff=prev&oldid=39109332), any suggestions on how to tackle this (not the user, could not care less, I mean Mr. Calandria's infobox)?

- Alright (and you did not butt in, your opinion is much appreciated), i'll get to work in the Carlos Eduardo de Oliveira Alves article, but pray do tell, where did I call Mr. Sky1two a vandal? persondata
Hi, I hope you are keeping well. I see that you occasionally remove the "Persondata" from biographies. Should this be done for all articles? If so, does anything else need to be done e.g. on Wikidata? Cheers 2.96.235.137 (talk) 15:43, 7 October 2015 (UTC) (formerly User:Bikeroo) p.s. You must be more kind-natured (or thick skinned) to put up with some of the nonsense that goes on on here, such as the Ulises de la Cruz thread above. 2.96.235.137 (talk) 15:46, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, and glad to see you're still about. Persondata has now been deprecated, because Wikidata has theoretically taken its place. Some people interpret its deprecation as a requirement to remove on sight. What more sensible people do is make sure the corresponding Wikidata item contains the Persondata content before removing the latter: often it doesn't. As to good nature, stuff like the de la Cruz thing doesn't bother me. Some things bother me a lot, and sometimes I have to try quite hard to not react. Sometimes I fail :-) More fool me, after all the years I've been here I still care about this encyclopedia. Hope you're having fun, cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:20, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
Watford player profiles
I was trying to go for the simpler approach, since no thread is clearly visible thus there is no clear ref title (you have "Watford FC player profiles" above, then - for example - "Allan Nyom" below) I chose the column with less characters (name) for box compression purposes. You reverted me, fine it stays like that.
On a related note (Odion Ighalo), I admit I was engaging in some "wrongs" as I added playoff stats in the infobox. OK, so those are not to go there so you duly corrected his first Granada CF spell to 26/16, so we must correct his second spell as well which is what I did just now.
Cheers, have fun --84.90.219.128 (talk) 15:11, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

It's one thing to remove contents "without explanation", another to remove WITH explanation like I did, you don't liking my explanations is a different matter. I trust my new approach (with a real ref) makes the cut. Could I have done it when reverting the other user and thus avoid all this? Yes I could, I admit it.
I wish you a nice week --84.90.219.128 (talk) 01:11, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- Not my intention (to insult the other user, which I encounter as an editor for the first time), sorry you see it that way. I already admitted I let this stretch for too long when I could have immediately replaced the ref instead of ONLY removing, I think you will agree with me that the change is for the better (which is what WP is all about, no?), the new ref is a match report instead of a match sheet (I remember you telling me back in the day you also preferred the former over the latter any day of the week) and it specifically says Mr. Crespo made his debut in that day.
And, by all means, I don't want to be treated any differently from other users, if you feel I have been discourteous or vandalic, do warn away. Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 13:12, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
Hello there,
I don't remember if I added that to Mr. Zigic's article, it's been five years or more since I edited his article, but if you still have to source his association with Pedro Munitis, I added a couple of refs that you can retrieve to the former's article (found in Munitis' article).

Hi there, all well?
I come to you because you were the one that also came to me when assistance was needed in this player's talkpage (also a big thumbs up for User:Koppapa, give credit where it's due!). After all the steps were taken, with notes explaining the discrepancies, people have (RE)started altering it back and forth, and now I seemed to also have stupidly joined the wagon.
Other than the actual talkpage exchanges (in case you need to refresh your memory https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Javad_Nekounam), please refer to this user's talkpage where I have also offered my two cents (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:MuyXmuy after the second wave of conflicting edits, I tried to see where a user called I7-860 was coming from, and ended up falling out with the other chap, MUYXMUY). Suggestions P-L-E-A-S-E, cheers!
P.S.: like I say in the end of my message to Mr.MUYXMUY, I have now reinstated the version where the 151 caps (championed by the Iranian FA) are shown, with the note displayed close to "reflist" saying what FIFA "thinks" of that. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 13:38, 8 December 2015 (UTC)

- Not that you would not know about it - because your name was highlighted - but I took the liberty of mentioning you in Mr.MUYXMUY's talkpage, pretty much saying you reinstated the hidden note (as myself previously) so that they do not imagine I am a wiki-troll out to get them and that there is some logic to some stuff we do around here. Wording / Approach to refs
Hello there veteran fellow user,
due topics on the subject: 1 - which is more accurate about a team, they "collected 14 points from six games" or they "took 14 points from six games"? I'm pretty sure it's the former form, but I could be wrong; 2 - now, the longer and most important (and more confusing to me, but we'll get there), especially "fresh" on your mind because I read your message to another user on the subject.
If I turned to an English person and said "Bugger, my team, Real Betis, lost 0-4 away to FC Barcelona yesterday!", would that English person turn to me and say "Come again guv'nor?", their eyes and ears all abuzz with surprise and misunderstanding? I don't want to teach the teacher, this strikes me as quite confusing but (mostly) it has to do with me not being a native English speaker. Why can't we say a team lost "0-3" then specify where the match had taken place (away, home, if needed)?
I guess what I am trying to ask you is the following: is it 100% wrong grammatically to say the sentence in my example shown in last paragraph, or similar? If it is, then of course I'll begin working on improving that part of my wording, starting with instructions which I will find in your reply (hopefully you will reply :)).
Approach to refs: when we have a TWO-LINE paragraph/sentence, like in Thomas Schaaf's late storyline (his appointment at Hannover), if one refs only the end of sentence instead of start/middle/end (baffles the mind, mine at least) is it wrong? If one refs only the end of the sentence, and ALL the contents of the paragraph/sentence are displayed in the source, then it's 100% correct, no?
Cheers, happy 2016 from Portugal --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:40, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your constructive criticism on career tables. May I ask one question. Why do you put – instead of 0 if not played. Thanks Skyblueshaun (talk) 09:36, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- What do you mean, a less-profile club? So in future if a player has played outside of the UK then use a different source for that particular part of the table. Skyblueshaun (talk) 15:14, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Walter Pandiani - Bits and pieces
Hello there,
bit by bit: 1 - intro, I don't think "rifle", in the second instance, should be presented with a capital letter, but maybe I'm seeing things wrong; 2 - from what I see, you have revived several ESPNFC references (kudos, by the way), I asked how could it be done (by a bot or something) at WP:FOOTY and did not receive one line in reply (not pointing any fingers at you, no kind sir), fine, those dead in "my watch" stay dead; 3 - late club career, why can't we have the ref presented as just "RSSSF" if it has a wikilink that can be clicked on (and there is also this still-fresh discussion https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:Mattythewhite#Jordi_G.C3.B3mez, I am having trouble dealing with/accepting this extra-fields policy, thank god the limit seems to be two!); 4 - his international career, I tried to find a real source for his debut with Uruguay, came out empty, FIFA.com (which by the way is dead, second player I have "encountered" in that state today) will have to do. Plus, I added a source (searched for more, but only found this one, for his small amount of caps in spite of good numbers in Spain (the Navarra Sport source says he has six goals with Osasuna early into the season, and yet coach Tabárez does not recall him); 5 - still int'l career: I don't know why we cannot divide tournament (2002 FIFA World Cup) and qualifiers, but it stays that way, I know you prefer it like this.
All for the moment, cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:09, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- you're probably right; replace it with a small letter if you want to;
- some of them are there, some are not; ref #12 is a replacement for a completely dead and unarchived Soccernet page, ref #18 (Eurosport) likewise, but the other two are just new urls for the same piece;
- because the publisher is called Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation, but better known as RSSSF, so it's more helpful to the reader (if anyone does read refs, which I tend to doubt) to show both;
- thanks for that; I'll go back and fix the FIFA link at some point; it's disappointing that FIFA are dropping profiles of older players from their site;
- if the reader wants to leave that page for the qualifiers, they've got an obvious link; if they wanted the tournament proper, there's an obvious(ish) link in the first line of the qualifiers page. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 18:24, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
Phew, thought that the entire FIFA.com links had crashed due to the site's changing of configuration. After checking out Jens Jeremies, found out it is not so, that one is functioning so the other two (Pandiani and Sergio Barila I think) might still be "rescued". Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 01:32, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
If it's something easily fixed (if not, please don't bother), can you please lend a hand in this player's article? Someone else added some templates for the player, and they seemed to display well. However, after I changed the squad template to the current one, the other two went down the drain and I cannot make anything of them anymore...
Must be easier than I think to fix, but for now I give up. Thanks in advance, cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:14, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Just a question...
I've seen that you've written fantastic articles with a dearth of references in Serbian, and in Dutch. Do you use translation software or do you enlist other Wikipedians who know the languages? Because usually if I'm writing about a player, I'll run into a "blind spot" when he's playing somewhere I don't know the language, most notably Germany (more the lower divisions, the top stuff is often in English). Uche brothers - You too?
I should have followed on my WP:FOOTY promise and, whenever the IP nuisance removed the names, should have left them have their (uncooperative, never a lousy summary when "contributing"!) ways. Now, after what you have done, the buck stops here (User:MYS77 left some sources in the WP:FOOTY report, but I don't know if those sources are relying on BDFUTBOL as the primary source, and to be honest I don't know where is BDFUTBOL relying upon (i.e. ESPN FC is a very reliable sources, is is not? http://www.espn.cl/news/story/_/id/2400173/el-nigeriano-uche-del-villareal-esta-muy-cerca-de-firmar-con-los-tigres That could be used, but in this world ever-so relying in WP as it primary source, I just don't know); User:GiantSnowman profitted from the report to, as customary, remove the INT'L GOALS and honours charts, which I have since reinstated with refs); my summaries (again) escalated? Of course, do you think this other IP is being a help in any way (not saying I am proud of said summaries, I am not)?
To additionally humour (for lack of a better word, not trying to be a wise-ass, it's just you were the last person to revert me in one of those two articles) you and everybody else, I have also "helped" and removed Kalu Uche's (supposedly) full name. It stays like this, not my concern anymore. Cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 22:52, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, this just in (in my mind): also, we must take into consideration that, even if one of those sources (in the WP:FOOTY report, plus their BDFUTBOL entry) was to be reliable and we inserted it in the box or intro, that would not stop the other IP in its tracks, so at least I stop. Cheers again --84.90.219.128 (talk) 23:05, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry, I've no idea what you're on about with the WP:FOOTY promise and WP:FOOTY report thing. I saw your foul-mouthed edit summary last night, wondered what it was about this time, and saw the restoration of an unsourced set of names. I don't care whether they're right or wrong, and I'm guessing no-one's ever bothered asking those removing them why they're doing so, but the reason I removed them was because there wasn't any source, reliable or otherwise, to justify their presence. And without a reliable source, they weren't going back in. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:59, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- I'll elaborate then: I issued a WP:FOOTY report, where no one but MYS weighed in. Yes, no one bothered (thus, it includes me of course) asking the DYNAMIC IP why they were doing so, I think the capped "dynamic" might give you a hint as to why that would be a waste of time, do you sincerely think the user who messages the IP(s) can hope for a reply? The bit about GS was probably idiotic because it was 100% unrelated, I am just a bit weary of stuff being removed like this (I remember years ago, I wrote the storyline about Jordi Alba SCORING a goal in the UEFA Euro 2012 Final, and the honour was still removed because it was not ref'd in the proper section).
What I would really like to happen (just as an one-off experience, nothing permanent) would be for someone to re-insert the full names with a source, only to have the IP come and remove it again, source and all. These people have no respect for others' work, I may have broken all the rules as far as WP:CIVILITY goes (those include being polite to everyone, vandals/possible disruptive editors included), but I think (you may beg to differ, of course) this is far worse; I find it very very hard to deal with lack of cooperation (in this case virtual one), in case you haven't noticed, and these IPs are not exactly being Teammate of the Month-material, are they? Again, I am NOT excusing my summaries.
To wrap it up: with your expertise (I too am a veteran, but an inveterate rookie as far as technicalities go), do you think the source I give you (plus these two, I'll even save you the trouble of having to go to WP:FOOTY http://esportes.terra.com.br/lance/apos-vice-artilheiro-do-frances-tigres-contrata-nigeriano-uche,72933e2df4b136c6d30cd41f0a9b8cc6dz70RCRD.html, http://www.foxsports.com.mx/news/202007-ike-uche-negociaria-con-los-tigres), what do you make on any of these sources please? Not that it'll make any difference to me, I'm done editing those two articles as far as full name is concerned.
Happy week --84.90.219.128 (talk) 15:19, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- I'm sure those sources are reliable; whether they're accurate, I've no idea. Removing unsourced personal names isn't vandalism, and undoing something that isn't vandalism in two separate edits just so you can tell the editor concerned to "Piss..." "...off!!!" in two separate edit summaries isn't particularly collaborative (or grown-up). Even if all the anons who removed the content are on dynamic IP addresses, no-one bothered to speak to the registered editor who did so either. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:39, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
Registered user? Well, I never noticed that one... I am going to message them NOW, will feedback to you if I get a reply (not hoping on getting one, though, hope to be sorely mistaken). --84.90.219.128 (talk) 15:54, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- Just checked the edit history, and yes the registered user is pretty fresh there, and (double) yes I reverted them. Not acting all smarty-pants over here, I honestly did not remember them. Message sent. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 16:00, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
Hello
Hello Struway-I checked the web for possible sourced material about the managerial stats for Paco Jemez when at RSD Alcala but I have been unable to find a reliable source. I will keep you updated if that's ok? 86.173.5.254 (talk)
- There's no need to keep me or anyone else updated, so long as you don't put the figures back without a reliable source. Struway2 (talk) 21:41, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
Hi there fellow veteran user,
I only removed the tag in this manager's statistics chart because I (wrongly) assumed SOCCERWAY would cover/source several clubs/seasons. I should have not, in retrospect.
Thanks for (partially) reverting me, cheers --84.90.219.128 (talk) 15:53, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
No reply, but reversion in José Luis Oltra... then, I suppose we must add that note for ALL players/coaches who have a statistics/chart from this site, because the 2015/16 season is still not available (will be in season's end). I (thought I) was only making a minor aesthetical arrangement, sorry (my summary ("poor")? I was thinking of User:Sir gidabout to be honest). --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:10, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi, just to explain this - that IP has a long history of disruption, and the edit at the Edgar page was caught up in my attempt to clean up. GiantSnowman 10:16, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
- @GiantSnowman: As I realised later, and got them their current block. As it happens, I think that particular batch (the 07:xx 23 March infobox edits) were all OK, but given the history of the editor concerned and the quality of some of their later edits I can see why you reverted without checking. Thanks for explaining, cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:54, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

Hello Struway. I assume you thought mistakenly thought it was a prod, but in this edit you removed the AfD template from the Bell page. The AfD is still live. Thanks for adding the Daily Mirror reference though! Cheers, Number 57 11:45, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

AWB and Pentland
AWB marks the edits as 'minor' automatically and I hadn't realised, I'll ensure I untick it in future if I make more substantive edits.
As for Pentland, we will have to agree to disagree. Having an article of that length/importance so massively unreferenced does way more harm than having a brief stub. Adding heaps of content and then adding the name of a book at the end is simply not good enough. We need to start from scratch. It's been tagged for improvement since December 2009 with no improvement in the past 6+ years. The unreferenced content has been there since at least October 2006. Maybe @Djln: can re-visit the Morbo book and get some proper references for us? GiantSnowman 09:52, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hello - thanks for your expansion/sourcing by the way. As for the infobox, it is not my preferred format as you allege, it is the infobox standard as seen at {{Infobox football biography}}. WP:STABLE has been archived for a reason - something being incorrect but unchallenged for a long time is not a reason to retain it. GiantSnowman 18:14, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- As far as I'm aware from my experience of editing biographies of various 'types' the vertical formatting is used across the board. Surely ease of seeing = ease of editing? GiantSnowman 20:01, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- Like I said, please check out the standard layout at {{Infobox football biography}}, and indeed every other infobox template. GiantSnowman 17:12, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
- So you've never changed a layout that was (regardless of vertical/horizontal) from years1years2years3team1team2team3 etc. to years1team1years2team2years3team3 etc. or similar? GiantSnowman 18:33, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

BCFC Results Summary table
Hi, there is a problem with the Results Summary table for the current BCFC season where the Total GD is missing, after a bit of investigation it seems to be a problem when Away GD is positive which means the total GD disappears from the table, not sure how to solve it and it looks like it may be a template problem, I'm not sure if you know any better? - Even though I did not read the UEFA.com piece, I have 100% confidence in your work, and your summary (source of "successful") was also completely informative. My only reason for wanting to keep the EL PAÍS source was that of providing more bulk with another reliable article, providing the occasional reader(s) understand(s) Spanish.

Really? / Others
Really gut-wrenching, veteran fellow user! I took up on your suggestion and added the cap to some players like I told you (imagining you followed the discussion at Matty to the end). Well, today the anon IP changed their mind, at least in Fernando Llorente (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Special:Contributions/222.252.56.228, same city in Vietnam as all the other IPs found in Álvaro Negredo), and the extra cap is now removed, so much for the "project concept" of this site. And several players continued to be retired from their national team.
Since no block is possible of course, it's pretty much a revert/ignore situation no? Cheers --Be Quiet AL (talk) 14:37, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
- You could try adding a reference (sefutbol, not a random website) and then revert per cited source... As to retiring, some editors habitually close the international years range when a player hasn't been called up for a couple of years. I wouldn't do it myself, but some do. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:52, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
I was about to add this (http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/season=2016/matches/round=2000448/match=2017960/postmatch/report/index.html Slick Hungary outwit ten-man Austria) to the article, but I see you already beat me to it, nice work. I know what I am doing is not correct, but I tell you this in the guise of a weak excuse: once I start with a live update, I only cease my work (storyline, refs, the lot) when I leave everything tidied up, NEVER before that, surely you don't think I was going to leave the storyline with a 1-0 score for Hungary when match finished 2-0? And I think my summary observations (and I did not write "don't" in capitals to shout or COMPLAIN or anything, merely to stress a word) were not idiotic or akin, one could profit from the fields when a source was available (I was thinking of UEFA.com, you choose another good one, no problem), could one not?
If I have not grasped this editing concept in nearly ten years, chances are I never will, but I really hope you and WP don't doubt my intentions. Thanks for listening also --Be Quiet AL (talk) 19:04, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
- So much for "I really hope you and WP don't doubt my intentions"... I'd like to think that maybe I did not express myself well enough in the above message, but I know that's not the case. I'll try to stop with that darn editing approach once and for all from now on, all I can promise. --Be Quiet AL (talk) 20:11, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
If I can ask this question (it's in the benefit of WP, so I imagine you'll be OK in helping out), also in Mr. Szalai's article: can you see what's wrong in the display of reference #44? I asked User:Mattythewhite previously, and he's also at a loss. Sorry for the overall inconvenience created by my editing --Be Quiet AL (talk) 21:10, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
- Always on the lookout... but I stand by what I said in Matty's page about that Romanian user (for example, in António Conceição da Silva Oliveira, he "corrected" several years, not just C.F. Os Belenenses, if I was hugely wrong in altering that I admit it without a problem; also, a person that goes to other people's pages and removes messages where they are mentioned is surely up to no good, no?)
In the light of that, two more favours for good old WP if you can: 1 - in Mr. Conceição's page, I tried to alter the display of the ref you revived (manual fields to a more automatic display) but fell horribly short, can you please help out; 2 - what is wrong in Fredy Guarín? His goals in the EL for FC Porto is what I mean, refs were revived back in the day but they are still dead!
Thanks, sorry again for the inconvenience --Be Quiet AL (talk) 17:35, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
- I only used a manual format because the ones before it and the other one in the same paragraph were hand-coded. If I'd realised they were formatted at random, I'd have used cite web in the first place. Done it, anyway.
|deadurl=no
means the original url isn't dead, so I've removed that; and|accessdate=
implies date of access of the original url, so as we haven't accessed the original url, I've removed that as well. - As to Guarín, UEFA change their website format regularly; as all you're sourcing is specific numbers of goals, you'd do better using a suitable stats site.
- As to the Romanian user, has anyone bothered leaving a note at their talk page to explain that on the English WP, years in infoboxes are for years, not seasons? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 18:00, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the "bits". Regarding the last one, at least I have (not saying regarding that, just saying I tried to interact), they REMOVED it without one word in reply. Cheers --Be Quiet AL (talk) 19:08, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
- OK, I jumped the gun at José Luis Martí, it's just I thought that since season is already over in Segunda División data will soon be available and it could be removed. Please answer this, if you can: when data is made available by BDFUTBOL, will the "registration needed" thingy disappear or will it remain? If not, why add it in the first place?
Cheers --Be Quiet AL (talk) 12:17, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
- If a row in a stats table is sourced in whole or in part to a webpage that requires registration to see the relevant data,
|registration=
informs the reader that they'll need to register if they want to see it. The 15/16 data will probably become generally available soon: I don't know when BDfutbol go over to the new season. But when it does, any BDfutbol page being used to source the 16/17 data will need|registration=
(unless BDfutbol change their policy). I'm afraid I don't see the problem. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:34, 16 June 2016 (UTC)

- Hello. The edit I made to that page was to correct formatting and replace an unreliable source. I know nothing of the person concerned.
- It appears from the page history that it was protected from unregistered editors because of persistent unsourced changes, some of whch came from someone who said they were associated with the subject. What you need to understand about Wikipedia is that information must be verifiable from reliable published sources, because the reader needs to be able to check that the content is something that's been previously published.
- If there's aomething specific that's incorrect, please consider posting your required change to the article talk page, at Talk:Peter Gregory (footballer), together with a reference to the reliable published source that verifies your change.
- Alternatively, you could visit Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Help. Or have a look at WP:Autobiography#Problems in an article about you, which is about autobiographies, but contains links that might be helpful. Hope this helps, Struway2 (talk) 09:25, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

Edit summaries - Reply
Yes, edit summaries should not be used for over-the-top rants even if they do not contain insults, as mine did not. However, I sincerely hope you are of a similar mind in thinking that inserting stuff like the one found in Mário Felgueiras is an extremely serious BLP violation. What is that, you ask: the user inserted a match sheet from FORADEJOGO to source the player's under-21 debut, and said sheet showed Mr. Felgueiras firmly put ON THE BENCH for 90 minutes!
Like this one, I have seen dozens. Last year or so, I confronted the aforementioned user, asking him what his level of Portuguese was. He confirmed to me it is very poor. So, hopefully you agree it's not very advisable to retrieve refs from said language to articles.
Again, not excusing myself and my summaries, merely offering some defense. Thanks for listening --Be Quiet AL (talk) 20:40, 23 July 2016 (UTC)

Seaton Delaval
Having seen that you created Category:Seaton Delaval F.C. players, from what I can work out, the Seaton Delaval that played in the North Eastern League are the same club that now plays in the Northern Football Alliance (this is certainly what the club history claims). What I can't work out is whether we should call them Seaton Delaval Amateurs F.C. or Seaton Delaval A.F.C.; the club website uses a mixture whilst the badge and twitter account just use A.F.C..
