A barnstar for you!
The Anti-Vandalism Barnstar | |
Thank you for your anti-vandalism work! You may find a tool (Twinkle) helpful. This can help you easily revert edits and send warnings. You can simply enable the "Twinkle" gadget in the Gadgets section of your Preferences page. More info can be found on Wikipedia:Twinkle. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. 94rain Talk 05:31, 7 June 2019 (UTC) |
- Thanks! I plan to start using Twinkle, but I've been reverting vandalism manually because I wanted to get some practice with the basics first. I will look into it ASAP :) SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 05:36, 7 June 2019 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia from the Medicine WikiProject!
Welcome to Wikipedia from WikiProject Medicine (also known as WPMED).
We're a group of editors who strive to improve the quality of medical articles here on Wikipedia. I noticed that you are interested in editing medical articles; it's great to have a new editor on board. In your wiki-voyages, a few things that may be relevant to editing Wikipedia articles are:
- Thanks for coming aboard! We always appreciate a new editor. Feel free to leave us a message at any time on our talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the WPMED talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some collaboration when editing!
- Sourcing of medical and health-related content on Wikipedia is guided by our medical sourcing guidelines, commonly referred to as MEDRS. These guidelines typically require recent secondary sources to support information; their application is further explained here. Primary sources (case studies, case reports, research studies) are rarely used, especially if the primary sources are produced by the organisation or individual who is promoting a claim.
- The Wikipedia community includes a wide variety of editors with different interests, skills, and knowledge. We all manage to get along through a lot of discussion that happens under the scenes and through the bold, revert, discuss editing cycle. If you encounter any problems, you can discuss them on an article's talk page or post a message on the WPMED talk page.
Feel free to drop a note on my talk page if you have any questions. I wish you all the best on your wiki voyages! Ian Furst (talk) 23:14, 12 June 2019 (UTC)

- Hi there. Sorry for misunderstanding what you were doing. I've updated the reference - however, it is not a good reference per WP:RS, so I've put a maintenance tag on the article. SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 22:23, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
Undid your revert
Hey SpicyMilkBoy. Just an FYI, I undid this edit you made, where you added vandalism back into the article (I think unintentionally). Anne drew (talk) 20:21, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks! I was trying to revert that vandal edit, but I must not have been paying attention. Sorry about that. SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 20:23, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
I’m a fan
No I’m a fan of her Krecolee (talk) 15:12, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Krecolee Ok. If that is the case you don't need to declare COI, but you'll still have to go through the WP:AFC process to create an article on her since you're a new user. Also, you'll want to check if she meets the WP:NMUSIC criteria before starting an article, because if she doesn't the article will be declined. If you have questions about these processes, I suggest asking for help at WP:Teahouse. Thanks, SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 15:22, 24 June 2019 (UTC)

Avicii
Spicy, the Wikipedia article of a world-famous Grammy-nominated dance music DJ and producer does not need a clarifying comment on the top linking to an article of some unknown mythical Buddhist hell that no one, other than Buddists, cares about. I urge you to remove that comment immediately. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Applesaurus (talk • contribs) 13:43, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- Applesaurus According to WP:HATNOTE it doesn't matter whether Avīci is less important than Avicii, just that someone might conceivably misspell the former as the latter. A google search suggests that it is a fairly common misspelling. Additionally, the EDM artist took his name from Avīci, so fans reading the article might actually be interested in that topic. If you disagree I suggest raising this concern on the article's talk page to get more editors' opinions. Thanks, SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 14:03, 5 July 2019 (UTC)

Caroline Buchanan
Hey, you reverted my revert on the article Caroline Buchanan. I don't know why you did, but I'm pretty sure that edit was vandalism considering they put that person's weight to be 100,000kg, their website to be "fist.com" and there was a comment saying they "hate some Canberra bmx people" at the very bottom. I'll revert it for now since I'm pretty confident it was vandalism, but if you're sure it wasn't, feel free to revert and I won't touch it further. Thanks. The79 (talk) 22:14, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
- Never mind, someone else reverted it for me. The79 (talk) 22:17, 7 July 2019 (UTC)

- Ah, I might have to configure my Twinkle settings so I don't accidentally do that haha. I originally thought maybe you reverted it because you thought it wasn't vandalism, the top of that edit looked right (inserted name and residence into infobox) but everything below that was just inserting nonsense. The79 (talk) 00:19, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
- It definitely looked like vandalism to me :P At first I thought my account had been hacked or something. Thankfully it turned out to be a misclick. SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 00:31, 8 July 2019 (UTC)

Islam and Violence
Hello I saw your message, editor Maestro2016 is his user name I think, who made changes, didnt discussed anything at talk page, he just made content, big enough, mostly not connected even with pacifism or topic to blank previous sources what stayed there, sources what was there seems quality totally. Change is made on 15 of july this year He removed all sources what stayed there previous, so he started stuff about edits etc probably in a way of his personal views, and put cherrypicked content. I opened talk page disscusion, and wish more editors to join about to make quality content.109.93.186.50 (talk) 15:10, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
- 109.93.186.50 It's good that you opened a discussion on the talk page, but you need to wait until there is a WP:CONSENSUS on the talk page to reinstate your changes. Please review WP:BRD. You've now made three reverts on the page, and if you make another one you'd be in violation of the three revert rule, which means you could be reported for edit warring. SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 15:19, 19 July 2019 (UTC)
- I understand, but it is really whole content changed and all sources removed without any explanation so all what I did is content is just back with all sources. Users who has new content to add or to make big fundamental changes need to present their changes at talk page. So yes talk page is open. I hope more editors will pay attention. Cherrypicking and personal pov view are not enough to make complete removal of all sources and to change whole content. Even with good intention, wikipedia is not for promotion or advocacy of personal preferences. Thank you for your time to answer me and sorry about I wrote at your personal talk page. 109.93.186.50 (talk) 15:46, 19 July 2019 (UTC)

Edits to 2024 election article
Hi, I just wanted you to know I edited the election page, removing spaces between can and not in 2 instances. I think in future, I will follow your advice and explain even minor tweaks so the author knows what's going on with their article. Thanks for the feedback. I'm still a newbie and learning how to be a good member of the community. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.176.81.33 (talk) 13:31, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hi there, are you talking about this edit? If you are, I didn't revert that edit because you removed the space between can and not - I reverted it because you removed a big chunk of text lower down on the page. I'm guessing that was an accident. In any case, it's always good practice to leave a edit summary for your edits. :) SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 13:42, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

Excellent, comprehensive draft. Sure it will be accepted. I did not do a copyvio check, as presuming you know not to cut and paste. If anything, perhaps a bit too detailed, but given it is a Canada historic building, valid. David notMD (talk) 04:11, 25 August 2019 (UTC)

- David notMD You're too kind... :) I'm honestly surprised that you think so. I thought it was pretty far off from meeting the GA criteria, since it relies quite heavily on that one source & the writing is clumsy in places. There are also some areas that could be expanded, e.g. I haven't covered anything that happened between the 1950s and the 1980s, because I couldn't really find anything online... the sources probably exist, but I'd need to make a trip to the library to find them. I'm sure you know the criteria better than I do, though! SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 16:41, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- I am a scientist and amateur historian. What you would get from a GA nomination would likely be a professional historian. The GA process can be tedious. For each of the six I raised to GA, I first made 25-100 edits. And then, an additional 25-50 as part of the GA review. David notMD (talk) 21:02, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
- David notMD Good to know. I'm interested in going through the GA process, but it's slightly intimidating to think about subjecting a professional historian to my amateurish work. I did receive a recommendation to nominate White blood cell differential and I think I'll start with that one and see how it goes from there (although that article also needs some work first IMO). Probably best to start with a subject I'm reasonably familiar with. :) SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 17:40, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Reverting my addition to Sunday
I think that your misunderstanding of the word Sunday and the way the word is used. In most cases in the Christian realm people think of Sunday being the Sabbath it is not, and has quite different meanings. I was only trying to allow people to understand that. It appears that you are one of the individuals who does not comprehend the two meanings ! But I think you anyway because it helps me comprehend the foolishness of people thinking themselves wise . I would advise you to stay on your studied subjects and leave theology alone... Theologically Speaking (talk) 14:26, 4 October 2019 (UTC)

Waiting for a GA reviewer
Be patient. I had nominated Folate in January and did not get a reviewer until September. And then we agreed to put the article in 'Hold' because other editors wanted to be part of the improvement process before it went to GA review. LDR requires consensus
Please do not change the reference style to something else without consensus. This change of yours was made to the first article written by a new editor, who is using the visual editor. LDR isn't supported by the visual editor, which means that if he tries to remove any of those, the article is going to end up with an ugly red error message. LDR has some virtues, but it's not appropriate to impose it on an article without discussion. WhatamIdoing (talk) 17:38, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
- WhatamIdoing oh dear, sorry about that. I was trying to merge the duplicate references and I didn't know how to support different page numbers without using that citation style. I see what you did here and I'll do that if I run into the same situation again. Sorry for my boneheaded move. SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 17:48, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
- Proper handling of page numbers is one of our long-standing weaknesses. My solution is not ideal, but it'll work well enough for this article (fortunately, only one instance of non-consecutive page numbers), and it will (probably) not confuse the new editor (any more than we're already confusing the newbie, anyway).
- I'm happy with this article overall. It's an interesting subject, and I'm reading that there's a dispute about whether some newly re-discovered manuscript really is his (sounds like it's probably his, but not every scholar agrees that it's definitely his).
- And Thank you for replacing that mile-long URL with the DOI. That change alone did much to make the wikitext legible. WhatamIdoing (talk) 17:58, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, it's a nice article. I was going to reply to the author at WPMed and encourage them to nominate it for DYK, but I keep getting sidetracked. Was also going to see if there's a public domain image anywhere. I'll get to it later today... SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 18:03, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

Hello, I just prodded an article which is not notable streamer and an annoying humanoid creature. It is unlikely to be deleted and probs someone gonna touch it. Can you Create an Afd for me, my reason is still the same as I prodded, thank you!. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.148.2.133 (talk) 12:18, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hello 121.x, I'm not sure what brought you to my talk page. Was it my posts on the Bishop Auckland page? Anyway, I'm not entirely comfortable with nominating the article for AfD because I don't know anything about the subject, but if the PROD gets removed, you can post on Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion and ask another registered user to nominate the article for you. SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 12:24, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

Thank you, because you help me edit in Fake nude photography, but I write Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez like an example, and about Korea president- an example, why did you delete it? what problem; and many singer, actor, actress very famous in East Asia that noteworthy, I think you underestimate Asia. I hope anybody could write other people about singer, actor, actress in West. Thank youSuy nghĩ mãi mà vẫn chẳng biết đặt tên là gì thiệt chán hết sức (talk) 23:57, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Suy nghĩ mãi mà vẫn chẳng biết đặt tên là gì thiệt chán hết sức. I removed the example about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez because it didn't seem to fit the topic of the article. The first few sentences of the article say that it is about pictures that have been edited to make it look like the person is nude. But in that case, the photo was not edited. It was just a photo of someone who looked like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
- As for the other content I removed, I didn't remove it because I thought the people involved weren't famous. I removed it because there wasn't any context about the significance of these events. The news reports on many events involving celebrities and politicians, but Wikipedia is not news and we usually don't include information on such events unless they have had a wider impact on society. (The topic itself has a notable impact on society, but it's not clear if all of those specific events did). I kept the content about people being arrested for Girls' Generation pictures because I thought it could lead to some interesting discussion regarding the legal status of these pictures. I am sorry if I gave the impression that I am underestimating Asia, as that was not my intention - I also removed content about Western celebrities like Kate Upton and Taylor Swift.
- I see you've restored the content. I'll leave it alone for now and let other editors to decide what to do, as we all have our own perspectives. :) Thanks for writing the article: it's an important and interesting subject, and it is valuable to have content written from an Asian perspective on the English Wikipedia, which is often slanted towards Western viewpoints. Welcome to the 2020 WikiCup!
Happy New Year, Happy New Decade and Happy New WikiCup! The competition has begun and all article creators, expanders and improvers are welcome to take part. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page. We are relaxing the rule that only content on which you have completed significant work during 2020 will count; now to be eligible for points in the competition, you must have completed significant work on the content at some time! Any questions on the rules or on anything else connected to the Cup should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page. Signups will close at the end of January, and the first round will end on 26 February; the 64 highest scorers at that time will move on to round 2. Good luck! oil skimmer
I am bit surprised with your email, I edited the link which was basically company website link which manufactures such product, to more generic video of the oil skimmer-this explains how it works. looks like you deleted my edit and reinstated old company website link. I don't understand what you interest in putting back company website link back again. regards sachin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wyunasep (talk • contribs) 03:19, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
- Wyunasep Your username is "Wyunasep" and you have added a link to something called "Wyunasep". You have an obvious conflict of interest and you should not be adding content related to this product to articles. If you think it is appropriate you should suggest it on the talk page instead. On inspection, the previous link was also inappropriate, so it has been removed. SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 03:25, 6 January 2020 (UTC)

- Vikipolimer The article does not meet Wikipedia's notability criteria. To remain on Wikipedia, articles must have references to reliable sources that demonstrate that the subject is notable, such as newspaper articles, published books, reviews from major music websites, and so on. References to sites like Spotify and Amazon do not demonstrate notability because anyone can create a listing there. If you want to keep working on this article please edit the draft at Draft:Klervoyans and submit it for review, rather than posting it in mainspace, because in its current state the article will just be deleted and if you continue to recreate it it may be blocked from creation.
