Gupta rule
Hi! I want to know why my changes in the History of India about the Gupta Empire was removed. (GB (talk) 09:42, 1 January 2010 (UTC))
- As I explained in my edit summary (as did the other editor who reverted), the changes you made were not sourced. The article has a decent level of sourced content right now, and we should maintain that level. Some of your earlier additions of maps and symbols is also a bit undue, however, I haven't had time to look at that in detail, so I haven't addressed that. I would suggest that you discuss some of your changes on the article talk page, especially at high-traffic articles, and gain consensus as that will greatly help in identifying some of these things in advance. Hope this helps. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 09:53, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Population figures
The government's plans to expand the city limits of Chennai have reached a consensus and the nod to further the proposal. Therefore, it is not only too obvious, but also imperative that Wikipedia doesn't endorse misleading information. The government has come up with its own estimate of 5.6 million and hence this figure is official. Hence it is not necessary to press on 2011 figures. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.92.71.230 (talk) 05:43, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- Nope, we change it when reliable sources have acknowledged that this has happened. Wikipedia is not a crystal ball. If you continue to indulge in changing these numbers, you will be blocked. -SpacemanSpiff 05:46, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Whatever. I get it now. There is insider politics in Wikipedia. I never knew there was a conspiracy of people who call themselves the vanguards of "reliable data". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.92.71.230 (talk) 06:01, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Advice request
I believe I found enough to merit a keep at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mallika-E-Kitchen , but I'd like the opinion of my expert. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:11, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- When I saw the AfD, I realized that there wasn't an article for Mallika Badrinath -- which will be sorted out in the next couple of days (when I moved to the US, my mom gave me six of Mallika's cookbooks to make sure that I don't starve!). I don't know much about her shows, but she has quite a few. This particular one might be worth merging to Mallika Badrinath (probably by Sunday, I was going to suggest that once the article was created!). Your sources will help me with that article! cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 05:27, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Similar situation at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Crooked (film). I believe I've found enough to merit a keep and expansion, but wish advice from my expert. Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 21:44, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
- Heh, I really don't know much about recent Indian movies, my knowledge stops around 2000, after which I know only after release hits :) I'll take a look at it soon. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 23:24, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
New Democratic Party (Sri Lanka)
Could you please take a look at New Democratic Party (Sri Lanka)? The article is a stub, and I thought that you might be able to expand it from Tamil-language sources. - Eastmain (talk) 07:03, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know what to make of it, [1] says that the party was founded in 1978 and got it's current name in 1991. The only Tamil source I found for the party and it appears to be different from this one(புதிய ஜனநாயக கட்சி), the mentions of Sarath Fonseka in Tamil pieces don't mention the party. I've added the couple of English sources I found. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 08:16, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'd asked User:Chamal N to take a look, he's corrected the name of the party (which is probably why we weren't able to find much) and added a few refs. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 18:17, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
misconceptions2
hi, misconceptions2 has been perma banned for edit warring after ban on caravan raids.
But he did not. This is not his ip 188.221.108.172. it is mine !
He got banned mistakenly. Admin has said that i am not a sock.he did not edit war after ban!
but after investigation is over, can u reduce misconceptions2's permaban to 2 weeks. since I feel it is unfair that he should get banned because of me--Mirroryou1 (talk) 16:14, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
- I wasn't the one that extended the block to indefinite, it was done by User:Spartaz after discussion at WP:ANI. I'd suggest that you contact Spartaz and/or post at the relevant ANI discussion. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 17:22, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
My RfA
Thanks for the support vote and kind message. It went bad, but c'est la vie. Best wishes, Alan16 (talk) 07:46, 4 January 2010 (UTC).
- RfAs can be quite brutal, but that's what you get for wanting to be a masochist! You're on the right track, so focus on your content contributions and Wikiproject Novels. If there are admin activities that interest you, participate in those areas. Soon enough you'll develop some experience and know if you want it or not and be able to make an informed decision and also gain the experience that many commentators look for. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 08:55, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
hello
The article hasn't been confirmed yet on my user page. I wanted it to have content first and was diligently working on this. Thank you. Please have them reinstall it or let me know if I can possibly do something like that myself. BTW How do I get more of the cheatpads for adding the bracket stuff? I thought they were installed, but I don't know how to make them work. The current wikimarkup window is seriously insufficient for my learning how to do this on here. Thank you SS friend =) --Neptunerover (talk) 10:17, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
- You've lost me on this. What should be on your user page? What bracket stuff? -SpacemanSpiff 10:22, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't know how much you know about him. Would you mind dealing with this him, Xero675 (talk · contribs)? Elockid (Talk·Contribs) 20:24, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

- Do you have any idea when YM is coming back? Elockid (Talk·Contribs) 22:26, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
- Don't know, but if there's any of the more obvious ones, I can handle them. This one wasn't exactly quacking per what I've seen so far. Although, it's quite obvious that he's a sock, I just can't say for sure that it's of NP. -SpacemanSpiff 22:29, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hopefully it's soon or I'll have to start an SPI case. This User talk:Elockid/Archive 2#Gigatron1 and Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Mrpontiac1/Archive#Report date September 25 2009, 20:54 (UTC) might explain better the Mrpontiac thing and the situation. Elockid (Talk·Contribs) 01:44, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I hope it's soon too, I've had to take over protecting Aussie cricketer pages :) Now, this passes the duck test per the MrPontiac1 archive, so I've gone ahead and blocked indefinitely. -SpacemanSpiff 02:33, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
We got another one: Logic65 (talk · contribs). This seems to be a continuation of yesterday. The articles are also basically the same as yesterday. This is probably escalate like yesterday again. Elockid (Talk·Contribs) 12:57, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

- I almost forgot to say thanks. Thanks! Elockid (Talk·Contribs) 19:09, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
- NP, I'll let YM deal with this MrPontiac as I guess a CU is required for that. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 19:20, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Lauren Bernat
I recently recreated the article as Wii Fit Girl and was quickly reverted due to the previous AfD. However, I feel that the version I wrote clearly addressed the complaints of the article being about someone who is famous for only the YouTube video, in spite of the fact that she has been sued for the video, the lawsuit being covered by several news media outlets such as Fox News, she has appeared as a spokesperson for Electronic Arts' EA Sports Active, and has spawned several homages and "copycats". Perhaps the original version that was deleted seemed to be covering a person who was only famous for one thing, but this one I think clearly shows that she has done more than just be the Wii Fit Girl. If you could give me your blessing to recreate it, that would be excellent. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Now, he can figure out the length of things easily. 06:15, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- The content is different and so is the sourcing, so IMO it's not eligible for a G4. However, I'll add that I still hold that it's BLP1E, but I don't have any interest in taking it to AfD again, but others might :) cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 06:46, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Help regarding alternate accounts
Hi,
After spending most of my wiki time patrolling, I have recently started taking an interest in Islam-related articles. I understand that the topic is sensitive, and my actions are not universally appreciated. I would like to create an alternate account for myself (Something like User:Razimantv Islam) for editing Islam related articles and discussions only. I believe that it will be easier both for myself (to keep my patrolling work and these things separate, and to watch Islam related articles easily) and for others (to scrutinise my Islam - related edits easily). I have read the Wikipedia:Sock puppetry page. I assure you that I will not use this alternate accout for swaying discussion, making an illusion of support or any other inappropriate uses. Could you please tell me if this is a good idea and how I should be going about this? Thank you.
-- Raziman T V (talk) 10:35, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- Well, User:Mirroryou1 complaining about you isn't actually bad, as you can see how he was trying to confuse everyone that he wasn't a sockpuppet but being manipulated by one (see a posting by him above). You can either link your alternate account to your main account by way of a template and/or redirect (soft or hard). Another alternative is to not link your accounts at all, but notify a checkuser about your using two accounts, but in that case, you'll have to ensure that you don't edit the same article with both your accounts. You can check with User:YellowMonkey about that and email him the new account you plan to create etc. Given that the articles that you will be editing are going to be riddled with socks, I'd think that letting a CU know in advance would be the better option. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 14:33, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- I have no problem in letting people know that the alternate account is directly linked to me. It is just a matter of convenience. I will make the account and place the template. Thanks a lot -- Raziman T V (talk) 15:00, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, I have made the account User:Razimantv Alt and linked it prominently with my account both ways. I hope that will make sure there are no sock calls -- Raziman T V (talk) 15:38, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- Your current explanation and userbox should be good enough for that. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 17:15, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Evidence of Mrpontiac1 socks
Since you have chosen to ignore all of this banned user mirpontiacs edits and given him free run of articles I am making sure his edits are reverted its not fair if you let some banned users edits while not allowing others this is a totally not how admins shoudl act they should remove mrpontiacs edits even if they share the same heritage (i know your both indian) please do not take sides I AM NOT EDITING ARTICLE I AM REMOVING A BANNED USERS EDITS ONLY! look at this dif [2] and compare it to his sock account [3] now I would be greatful if you could stop backing mrpontiac1 and start removing his junk Nsaum and Nirvana have not been online yet so they cannot remove his junk yet but will eventually do it as for Elockid hes been receiving messages of praise from ip59 aka another sock of mrpontiac thats why he chooses to ignore his edits while only focusing on mine anyways im sure Nsaum and Nirvana will deal with mrpontiac accordingly as they have dealt with him before cheers Flashingligjhets (talk) 16:56, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi...
We had quite a bit of fight last month. I hope you are not having any bad feelings towards me. Right now, I am quite tired of the vandalisms going on in The Madras Regiment article. I have noticed that you had banned user Chola Yadava for one week. But he is back with his vandalisms as he did here. I am tired of reverting his edits again and again (He is pushing POV about Chalukyas, Cholas, Pandiyas and Cheras which are having nothing in common with the Madras regiment). Could you please do something about this? Or could you refer this issue to someone else? Axxn (talk) 18:36, 9 January 2010 (UTC)
- Warned for block evasion, the edits aren't yet exactly the same. -SpacemanSpiff 20:22, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Sura/Sudra issue
Hi, I saw your concern regarding Sura/sudra. Please note, it is Sura, whom people think to be shudra. It is guessed that perhaps they were shudra. However, religious scriptures, quotes them as Suras, not shudra. Since the article points to the same verses, it should be Sura. Please check this [5]. Substituting Shudra for Sura is mischievous. Ikon No-Blast 08:58, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- The article is about the Sudra Kingdom as described in the Mahabharata [6], [7]. Did you read page 113 of the book you just linked? I've just came across your tendentious behavior on another article -- Forward class also. Take this as a warning not to indulge in disruptive editing. -SpacemanSpiff 09:08, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, I would beg to assume Good Faith. You should get it verified in Mahabharatra itself. It is general misconception. MBH does not call them shudra. Real word is Sura. Since you are using verses of MBH, you should also use proper terms. Yes, it is true they are thought to be shudras. Ikon No-Blast 09:14, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- I am quoting the page I referred once again: They are confused with Sura(or shudra), tribe, calling them together as Surabhir. This confirms that real world is Sura, not shudra. Ikon No-Blast 09:22, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- Two AfDs for the article and repeated name change requests do not warrant good faith. In addition, you haven't provided any sources for the Sura kingdom to back up your claims. Post verifiable references on the article's talk page, and we can have a discussion.
- Meanwhile, here's a quote from the Ganguli translation:
“ | And the illustrious hero soon brought under subjection the mighty Gramaniya that dwelt on the shore of the sea, and the Sudras and the Abhiras that dwelt on the banks of the Saraswati, and all those tribes that lived upon fisheries | ” |
— Sabha Parva, The Mahabharata |
- Now, either provide equivalent scholarly sources describing the kingdom from the Mahabharata in a different manner or drop the stick. -SpacemanSpiff 09:29, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- As regard second nomination of FC, I did it after seeing concern on talk page itself. Also, my dropping the stick won't change the Original Verses of Mahabharata. You agree most Reliable source is Mahabharata itself and not its Flawed translations. Ikon No-Blast 09:43, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- Now, either provide equivalent scholarly sources describing the kingdom from the Mahabharata in a different manner or drop the stick. -SpacemanSpiff 09:29, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
well if userIkon No-Blast says mahabharata is the only source then the Yadava article should be rechecked for mahabharata says yadu's died out after the the end of the war.while the yadava article proclaims krishna belonging to the people who presently call themselves yadava, the descendants of Yadu.Ganguli's translation should be taken as appropriate.ganguli says shudra not sura.i added a verification tag yesterday on yadava page and it has been vandalized by ikonoblast.i just checked.i request you spaceman to check yadava article too.Linguisticgeek (talk) 12:06, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- Kindly check for MBH ref of Sura, who lived on the banks of Saraswati[8]. I think this should close the matter. Infact Ganguly's translation is the only online source which uses shudra for sura. I hope you would be convinced. Ikon No-Blast 14:55, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, ikonoblast, who is this "A. Vigasan"? Why are we looking at a document posted at a document hosting site for which I can't find any other reference?
- And as for the Mahabharata verse that he's quoting:
“ | ततॊ विनशनं राजन्न आजगाम हलायुधः शूथ्राभीरान परति थवेषाथ यत्र नष्टा सरस्वती |
” |
“ | tato vinaśanaṃ rājann ājagāma halāyudhaḥ śūdrābhīrān prati dveṣād yatra naṣṭā sarasvatī |
” |
- Happy editing. -SpacemanSpiff 17:45, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I believe, you have verified in some hard copy, otherwise, I find Sura being used at many places. If I find it is different in Hard Copy, then I may contest again.Ikon No-Blast 18:50, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
For my expert
What do you know about the 1990 Mammotty film Kuttettan? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 01:01, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- Heh, I was just going to post this on your talk page as I wanted you to use your google powers! User:Salih knows about Malayalam films and it looks like he's already posted a couple of refs. It should be notable, but given the time of the film, unlikely to find anything online except that it was a hit. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 01:04, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

You'll have to find a few independent reliable source references that have written about Mydala, like newspaper articles etc, not including press-releases. -SpacemanSpiff 07:46, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Speedy Delete Criteria
I think the article Ethnic Tension in India was in the process of creating, using contents of several articles (not just Racism in India) was hastily deleted (the article was created today by me. It was a stub and notable and a hangon was requested by two people, excluding myself. I am not happy that you resorted to delete the article, even though you have deleted it without prejudice. It is not a question of whether there was any substantial material. It was my first attempt at an article. Granted perhaps I am vain :( Thanks. Supreme Unmanifest (talk) 18:32, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- See, what you were doing was "moving" content from one article to another. That's not how to create an article, the article itself will have to be moved to the new title per our GFDL rules. That's the reason I deleted it, and I've also explained this rationale where the move proposal is located. Like I mentioned, I have no problem in restoring once the move has happened, but we have to keep the edit history attribution in place. And if you're copying from multiple articles as you're saying, you'll need to ensure that you provide the right level of attribution on both articles. Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia will come in helpful for that purpose. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 18:37, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- I understand. The point I was trying to make was that there were a few other articles which have been scattered across english wikipedia which I wanted to merge into Ethnic Tension in India (a broader article). In any case, once the new article is made (perhaps a consensus in change of title may occur), I will do the merging process anyway. But that does not change that my first child has ded :'( . Your link is noted, thanks. Supreme Unmanifest (talk) 18:45, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- Well, it wasn't my intention to delete your first article, it was just to ensure that our copyright rules were followed, and given that a move discussion was happening, this had to be deleted for the move to happen. Happy editing. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 18:50, 11 January 2010 (UTC)

Kshatriya wiki
Hello. I'm working hard to maintain this page in a proper way. Unfortunately some people are continuously vandalizing it. It is particularly the case of IP users like 210.212.206.4, 122.177.225.232 (see history) who are adding dishonestly their caste name in this page (we had a discussion on that topic in the talk page where we clearly told them not to do so because we have proved them that their caste is not kshatriya). Because of people like them, the reputation of wikipedia is at stake.Rajkris (talk) 16:32, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- Did you saw my edit? I was actually removing vandalism. Actually it was IP 122.166.150.108 who was indulging in vandalism. First check the log before insulting anyone. Thanks. 122.177.225.232 (talk) 16:56, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi there,
You deleted a page I was working on for Getprice.com.au, and you referenced copyright violation. Could you please elaborate?
Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jpony (talk • contribs) 22:12, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Oh yes, please userfy the page. I spent a fair amount of time working on it, and I would like to salvage some of my work.
Thank you, again.

- The problem is that the entire text was copied from www.getprice.com.au/aboutus.htm with "we" being substituted by "they". For legal reasons, Wikipedia can not host content like this. Also, due to the fact that it was a copy from the website, the article read like an advertisement and could have been deleted as such too. I don't know if the site passes our notability guidelines -- WP:CORP and WP:WEB, but the above two reasons qualify it for a speedy delete. I would suggest that you use the article wizard to create an article and make sure that there are sufficient independent third party references such as newspaper articles etc to show notability. Given that it is a copy vio, I'm hesitant to userfy the article, however, if you have email setup, I can email you a copy, and you can then strip out the copy vio and use rewritten content as a starting point in your user space. Happy editing. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 22:35, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

What is the deal with deleting talk pages
I was under the impression that Wikipedia was neutral and transparent. When you delete talk pages and histories, than we might as well just give up on trust. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.206.235.105 (talk) 22:17, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
- You've got to be more specific than that, what exactly are you referring to? -SpacemanSpiff 22:26, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Can you take a look at this? created by the same editor who created the Hindu Culture - Facts page. Apart from notability issues, it is a possible COI as the editor refers to himself as "rameshraju" in his edit summaries and the article mentions ramesh raju as the son of the subject. should this be nominated to AFD?--Sodabottle (talk) 17:57, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
- Quoted and shows he was some adviser to diff ministers, but that's all. Can't think this is notable enough, he's not held any elected positions, just the adviser tag that many politicians provide friends. AfD might be appropriate if you can't find anything else. -SpacemanSpiff 18:03, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Rakshasa
Hi kindly have a look at this edit from Linguisticgeek [10], where he removes good ref from puranas about Rakshasa. Kindly have a look. Ikon No-Blast 17:05, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- Engage on the article talk page, that's where this discussion belongs. This is one removal, explained through the edit summary (I don't know if it's correct or not), so it isn't exactly something that needs third party intervention. If you need extra assistance on the topic itself, contact someone like User:Redtigerxyz who appears to have edited the article before and is proficient in such topics. -SpacemanSpiff 18:35, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- I just wanted to show, it was a well referenced edit. I showed you, because this guy seems to listen to you. He simply is going after me. Just few words from you would calm him Thats all. Also tell him ref need not be online. I had mentioned details in my edits. Ikon No-Blast 18:59, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- Well, if you're quoting the Vishnu Purana for definitions and such, you'll need a source to say what you're saying. Either way, the article is not exactly in great shape, so you're better off seeking the intervention of someone who knows the topic well (like Redtigerxyz or Abecedare), not me. -SpacemanSpiff 23:12, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

So...how does it feel to be reported for vandalism? Careful, I'm sending an admin after you! (Possibly a Tamil admin.) These articles are really vandal magnets, aren't they. Oh, while you're at it, have a glance at David Harvey (luthier)--if you care for bluegrass (instruments). Take care, Drmies (talk) 16:05, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
- Heh, I know. Roy is an article that I have an editing interest in, so I can't do much about it. I'll take a look at Harvey, seems to be an interesting chap. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 16:32, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

- Heh. The new year has rung in a lot of POV nonsense. Naadapriya appealed to Arbcom saying that YM and I have COI and are POV pushing and he has never been banned, User:Kalarimaster has been appealing his rangeblock saying that he was never ever disruptive, Gujjars have started expanding beyond their walled garden (I've asked Dab to see if he could control that fancruft expansion), one chap is intent on saying that Arundhati Roy is known for her "writings about incest", there's this chap on Talk:Tamil people who has attacked pretty much everyone who edits the article right after coming back from his block (CarTick, Deepak and I have all reverted and warned him), and of course there's the other incidents that are listed in my January TP archives. It's a wonder I finally managed to create a stub yesterday! I wish I would get busy IRL so that I'll be forced to take a break from this! -SpacemanSpiff 17:14, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- Don't let all the gotra fancruft get to you! I usually desist from editing such articles, since the experience is so enervating, but feel free to ping me and I'll be happy to get involved as an admin. Didn't know about Naadpriya's arbcom appeal (any links ?) - must admit, I find his plain-as-can-be POV pushing efforts and "NOT NAADPRIYA" denials amusing. More seriously, vandals/POV editrors on BLPs such as Arundhati Roy can and should be reverted on sight and blocked post-haste if they persist - again, feel free to contact me if you are too involved and need a second opinion - such edits and editors are not entertaining. - Oh, I don't worry about the gotra fancruft bit, I normally let that be, just start paying attention when National Highway 24 (India) gets renamed to "mighty Gujjar highway" because a small bit of the 400+km highway is named that way. When the creepers start climbing out of the walled garden, it's time to pay attention! AR article, I'm an occasional editor so no admin action except for blatant vandalism, I'm not overly concerned, RP has that on his watchlist so I know he'll take care of that, just that over those two days, I think no one with that article on their watchlist was active on WP. YM got an email from arbcom on NP (see above statement from YM), anyway, I contacted Arbcom after that and it appears that the matter is settled for now (both NP and KM discussions are on YM's TP too). Just need to go through Carnatic music articles regularly. BTW, can you take a look at the Rakshasa discussion above? I'd asked the editor to contact either Redtigerxyz or you on that, article's in a mess right now, so not sure what's good and what's bad. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 17:47, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- Ah. Missed all the Naadpriya fun!
- Have watchlisted the Rakshasa article. The new addition was misplaced and may have needed to be tweaked, but could have had some relevant material (would have to look up sources). Can be discussed if the user is interested. Abecedare (talk) 18:14, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Prickly Pear Island
Hi SpacemanSpiff, thank you for cleaning up the article Prickly Pear Island. IMHO the speedy deletion request was justified since 95 % of the article's content was bollocks. The island is in 800 meters distance from my former apartment in Hodges Bay, most of the time it is uninhabited. I doubt the story about the alleged 12 residents born on the island, and I doubt that a tiny piece of sand and rock is worth its own article. There are dozens of alike islands around Antigua. The article about Prickly Pear Island was mainly created for one reason: To promote commercial excursions to the island (snorkelling and binge drinking). The remaining one-sentence article about the island should be merged into the Antigua article, if worth mentioning at all. Greetings, RedSpy (talk) 15:28, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- {{db-hoax}} is applicable only to outright hoaxes, in this case, the original article was clean, but all sorts of dubious content was added subsequently, therefore, the article can not be deleted as a hoax. As far as geographic points like islands etc, we generally consider them notable, and if the place is inhabited, it is almost always not deleted. If you think these islands should be merged to a new List of small islands in Antigua or something like that, you could start a discussion on the article talk page and/or discuss at Wikipedia talk:Caribbean Wikipedians' notice board. -SpacemanSpiff 15:39, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, I meant to write "uninhabited", only missed by two characters ... RedSpy (talk) 17:27, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Well, even if it's uninhabited, geographical points are generally kept, just at a slightly lesser frequency than inhabited places. Either ways, all I'm really saying is that this can't be deleted via speedy deletion. You can try taking it to WP:AfD, but I just think the chances of it getting deleted aren't too high. The merging of all these small islands to a list is a viable proposition that you should take up at the article/wikiproject talk pages. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 17:35, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- ACK, point already taken with your first reply. If there had been a template to tag only a section of an article as hoax, I would have used it instead. Thanks for the explanation. RedSpy (talk) 19:06, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- Left you the long welcome message on your talk page. That should help with links to all policies and the associated templates. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 19:15, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi
The article I was in the middle of working on has been deleted. It was about a popular singer and I have many references to include in the article. I don't get why things would be deleted so fast, and would like to know how I can save a page without publishing it.
Thank you for your assistance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TribalSpaceman (talk • contribs) 20:04, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
- The article was deleted over eight hours after creation because it did not assert any importance. Also see WP:Band for the notability criteria for musicians. I can userfy the article for you and once you've added the required references, you can move it back to article space. Let me know if that's something you'd like. Indef block on my IP?
Hi, could you please place an indef block on own IP, here? I explain the situation here. Thanks! The Arbiter★★★ 02:25, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
- Your IP could just change the next time you turn off your modem or for a variety of other reasons, so an indef block isn't a good idea. As for doing an anon only block of your ip address, I would suggest contacting a checkuser as I really can't say what IP is yours and how long your account stays at a particular IP. Besides, this was really a one off case, nothing else from the IP before, so I don't think it's warranted. cheers. -SpacemanSpiff 02:35, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi SpSpiff. A question for you: Is there a way of figuring out how many articles are in the tree rooted at this category? --RegentsPark (sticks and stones) 04:16, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
- It looks like there are 49187 articles under this, but it also includes bios -- because for some strange reason, Category:Irish novelists is a subcat of Category:Irish novels and so on. You can eliminate all these bio categories in your query (add "-Irish novelists|FOO1 novelists|FOO2 novelists" etc), but for that you'd need to sift through the search list to see which category needs to be removed. An alternate is to use WP:CATSCAN (you can copy the monobook script from mine) which isn't responding well to me right now. Don't know much more... cheers. –SpacemanSpiff 07:12, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

The brief description of Narendra Modi in the article on Ratan Tata is not irrelevant. It shows the political choices Ratan Tata makes to protect his business interests. Tata has applauded Modi on many occasions and has always kept mum about one of the worst riots in the history of the Indian republic. Tata has also taken a stand against affirmative action in the corporate sector by opposing job reservation for the historically-wronged sections of the Indian populace. Readers should know how Tata positions himself politically to protect his business iterests and go with the stereotypes propogated by the Indian media. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.177.37.17 (talk) 08:47, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
VANDALISM by User Jack Able (who is also user Zero.vishnu)
This user has removed the kshatriya citations (with references) on the vellalar & Gounder wiki page based on his own POV. We had a discussion on that in the Vellalar talk page where I clearly shew him that his argument are not enough/valid to do any change (& I have yet to give my summary of the debate). When we read carefully what he wrote in the Vellalar talk page, we can clearly see that he has a racial vision of India and is trying to propagate hatred among among indian communities. According to his real vision, POV, Vellalar can't claim Kshatriya status because they don't belong to his so called Aryan race. This is POV & really dangerous... I have also noticed that he uses several wiki acccounts (at least 2)& added, removed things through IPs: Jack.Able & Zero.vishnu are the same. I noticed that through one of his IP (161.139.195.17) he used to remove the word Kshatriya in the mukkulathor wiki page; I checked all his contributions with this IP (Talk:Mukkulathor (→Kshatriya) & Talk:Kshatriya (→Nair)) and we can see that sentences wrote by this IP are now signed by either Jack.Able or [Zero.vishnu]].Rajkris (talk) 09:28, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- Both articles are a big mess as it stands currently, references aren't available to see (for that matter, the references aren't clear either, no ISBN/publisher info) and it's difficult to say what is POV and what is not. If you think the two users are sockpuppets, take it to WP:SPI as it would require a checkuser to confirm and I can't do that. cheers. –SpacemanSpiff 09:35, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- I have provided inline citations in the vellalar talk page& i will do in the article.Rajkris (talk) 09:44, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- In the inline citations I have provided (see vellalar talk page in chapter Vellalar Origin, i will add them in the main page), the Vellalar are clearly described as noble, ruling caste; here is the definition of Kshatriya found in the encyclopedia Britannica: "second highest in ritual status of the four varnas, or social classes, of Hindu India, traditionally the military or ruling class.". Isn't that enough ?Rajkris (talk) 10:02, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- That is synthesis. You have to provide reliable references that actually use the term of Kshatriya varna for the various castes. –SpacemanSpiff 16:03, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- Ok. I have removed the kshatriya reference for the moment. I will re write the vellalar wiki page in a proper, encyclopedic way and then re add this word at the right place. It may take some time because i'm a busy person. Once finish, i will request you for opinion. Thank you for your advise.Rajkris (talk) 01:26, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
