[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add content (particularly if you change facts and figures), as you have to the article Muhammad Ismail, please cite a reliable source for the content you're adding or changing. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of 1997 Coimbatore violence
[edit]A tag has been placed on 1997 Coimbatore violence requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 08:48, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
u seem like a useful contributor, but, please be aware this is not the way wikipedia works. anybody can edit any article at will as long as it conforms with wikipedia policies and guidelines. good to have you here and happy editing. --CarTick 22:41, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Good Contributions
[edit]Thanks for your good contributions in Tamil Nadu politics. One small tip - I see you have been updating out of date infoboxes of politicians, tagging them as former member of parliaments. Per wikipedia conventions, it is not necessary to mark former parliamentarians and members as either "Ex-member" or "former-members". Instead we use the term "member" even if they have lost the election but instead updated the term start and term end fields. I have done so for R. Dhanuskodi Athithan. You can see from this article, how terms are used to indicate current status. If some one is current member, leave the term_end field blank and it will say "Incumbent", which indicates current membership. If it does not say "incumbent", then he is a former member. Keep up your contributions.--Sodabottle (talk) 06:20, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to User:Ravichandar84, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. I sternly warn you against repeating such acts in the future. The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 03:55, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
- come on Ravi, take it wasy. apparently, the user is finding his way here. --CarTick 05:16, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, the user is quite new but I am a bit suspicious. A brief look at the user's contributions reveals that the user has been adding claims that so-and-so politician left the AIADMK and joined the Indian National Congress without providing any verifiable sources and removing "AIADMK" from the political party list in the infobox. Also, please have a look at the history of P. Thanulinga Nadar article. Though Thanulingam was the State President of the Hindu Munnani in his later days, he was still elected to the Lok Sabha on a Congress ticket; yet due to no know reason Hibayathullah has been removing references to the Congress in the infobox and adding Hindu Munnani (which, of course, is NOT a POLITICAL PARTY). After all, it is a well-known fact that a lot of pro-Hindutva leaders had their origins in the Indian National Congress whether we like it or not. I am also concerned over Hibayathullah's warning to me not to edit Thirubuvanam article. I hope it is not in Hibathullah's intention to exercise ownership over the article, or does he.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 06:20, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
- Ravi, as for as i can tell all of Hibayathullah's change of parties are accurate (though he doesn't add references). His changes are usually updating the latest party of the politician or changing member to former member etc. I believe, he edits the infobox to represent the "latest" status of the politician - party, posts etc and removes earlier history of the politician. He not only removes the early party affiliations, but also legislative posts held. If a MP is retired/lost, he changes the infobox to "former member". If a minister is mentioned just as "MLA", he removes MLA and inserts "former minister of such portfolio". This along with claiming ownership of thirubuvanam is indicating that he is still feeling his way around. With a little pointing out, he can turn out to be a valuable contributor. I went through all his politician edits and cannot find any wrong ones (as far as i know). Some of his correct party changes are as follows : S. Thirunavukkarasu (ADMK to INC), S. Jagathrakshakan (ADMK to DMK), Panruti S. Ramachandran (ADMK to DMDK),sedapatti muthaiah (ADMK to DMK), S. D. Ugamchand (ADMK to DMK), Senji Ramachandran (ADMK to DMK). Gomathi Srinivasan (ADMK to DMK). etc.--Sodabottle (talk) 06:52, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
- I don't question the authenticity of the claims. I agree that this user is new to Wikipedia. Okay, let me put it like this - all the examples which you've mentioned here have been instances of politicians from non-UPA parties moving to one of the UPA constituents which makes me doubt whether mistakes committed by this user have been due to newness. Why does the user not add instances wherein the change has been the other way round.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 00:58, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

- is he pro-UPA? Let him be? who cares.. as long as he adds the facts. someone else who is pro-non-UPA will take care of the rest. --CarTick 01:06, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- Panruti Ramachandran went from ADMK to DMDK. Vijayakanth is not UPA. Without considering whether hibayathulla is pro UPA or not, ADMK has been in opposition in state level since 2006 and in national level since 1999, while DMK has been almost continuously in power at the centre since 1999. So there are bound to more defections to DMK and out of ADMK. Similarly there have a lot of ADMK to DMDK defections as Vijayakanth is eating into ADMK political space. There have been very few defections out of DMK in the past five years or so. (raja kannappan, inbathamilan come to my mind, but no one else). Most of our Tamil politician stubs have been created out of election results and a lot of them are outdated. So as long as hibayathullah's changes are factual (i will keep a look out for a few days) there is no harm in him making these changes --Sodabottle (talk) 07:12, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
sources
[edit]One more tip - we can't use self published blogs as sources. What we can use and what we can't is covered here - WP:RELIABLE.--Sodabottle (talk) 20:14, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
i notice u made some corrections, i havent verified them yet. but, i am thinking about removing all former winners (for consistency and because 2001 election page exists) and add runner-ups. --CarTick 00:25, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

An Invitation From Sue Gardner
[edit]Dear Wikimedia Project Contributor,
I am the assistant to Sue Gardner, the Executive Director of the Wikimedia Foundation. Sue and I will be traveling to the United Arab Emirates in early December to attend and speak at TedxDubai on Saturday, December 4. While traveling in Dubai Sue would like to meet with local Wikimedians and other project contributors to learn about your community and to inform you about the Wikimedia Foundation. We find these informal meet-ups a useful way to gather groups of Wikimedians who may enjoy learning about the work of other contributors in their region, and to learn about the work of the Wikimedia Foundation. While in Dubai we plan for Sue to conduct press interviews with mainstream media and to possibility speak at a local university.
The reason I am contact you is to inquire if you are interested in meeting Sue and gathering with other Wikimedians during her upcoming visit. I plan to arrange a private location with light food and beverages in an open space for attendees to share and meet each other. If you are interested to attend or know other Wikimedia contributors who may be interested in attending please email me at jowen@wikimedia.org.
We hope to have the opportunity to meet you in December.

[edit]Hello, I'm ChrisHodgesUK. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Kurangaduthurai without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, I restored the removed content. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! ChrisHodgesUK (talk) 11:59, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
