Hello.
I need help with... Is there a way I can change the name at the top of my article instaead of say User:Tlajas/sandbox to make it say User:Tlajas/Ken Yager?
I tried adding a Page title but it didn't change the existing one it just added and another one and then ended up causing things to mess up in my article so I undid those edits

Therapy Dog-Restore Information to Sandbox
Hi Shalor, Thank you for taking the time to review the information I submitted to the article "Therapy Dog". As you determined, some of my work was deemed as plagiarism as I did not paraphrase it correctly. I need to correct this. Unfortunately, all my information, previously found in my sandbox, has been deleted. Could you please restore all information to my sandbox? Thank you. Hi Shalor, In regards to the previous Wiki editors comment, I am a member of an academic writing class and we have had previous communication, https://dashboard.wikiedu.org/courses/University_of_Connecticut/Writing_the_University_(Summer_2019). I'm hoping you can restore the information regarding Therapy Dogs to my sandbox as soon as possible as the class is ending this week and this assignment must be successfully completed. At the same time, I need to be preparing for several final exams to be taken this week. Once I make revisions, I will have you review so I can be sure the information is presented correctly. Thank you.Lostinthemix18 (talk) 16:34, 6 July 2019 (UTC)Lostinthemix18

Hello! I am apart of a history class at UCSC in which we are tasked with editing articles. I am new to the Wiki system and was attempting to edit an article (Catholic Church and Science) but failed to include quotes around a quotation I had. This was completely my fault, but does this mean that none of my edits will be included? Please help, I am concerned for both my grade and the article. Hello.
I need help with my article on the Shetland Sword dance, specifically the music section. I'm not sure if you are an expert with music or just wikipedia but I was told ask for feedback about the music content. I would like to know if it makes sense to a reader and if I have used any musical terms incorrectly. Additionally, if there are any other aspects of the article that you think should be revised I would very much appreciate your advice. Thank you, The Mythcreant (talk) 00:19, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Need help with Image issues
1. I am currently working on my Article: Alexander II Magnet School (Macon, Georgia) and I have uploaded an image of the school that I got from older assignment years ago. I vaguely remember taking photos for most of images I used for that assignment, but I am not 100% sure that this uploaded image was one of them. Will this be a big issue?
2. Another issue related to this topic is that because I plan to dedicate a major portion of my article towards the school’s founding and historical background, I want to add more images to bring the article to live. One of my main sources is the school’s website, which contains a couple of old black and white photos that I really want to use for my article, however surprisingly, the website contains very little of its own sources and I am not sure whether those photos are open-source as I assume, but I am also aware that just because images are old, does not mean they are public domain. Hey Shalor--what happened in this edit? Is that not the lead of the just-then created article, now placed in the student's draft? Either way, what I think we should do, since Strdvnt's work (and I agree that that version needed work) shouldn't be all in vain, is merge his draft version with User:RayneVanDunem's current version. That way all the edits are in the history, we keep RayneVanDunem's version live, and we have the opportunity to ferry acceptable content and references easily from the history into the current version. Dr Aaij (talk) 21:11, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Dr Aaij, I'd changed the lead up since I thought that he was going to be moving his work live at some point. I was thinking that when it was cleaned up some, we could merge the page histories. With the proposal of page merging, what you're suggesting is merging the draft and the live article together and then reverting back to the current live version? I just wanted to make sure before I did anything like that. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:38, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, that's what I was thinking--I'm sure you've done that before, right? I remember the first time, haha, it was complicated--deleting the right one, restoring the other one, undeleting the old right one, restoring to that version. Thanks, Dr Aaij (talk) 23:32, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
- Done! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:12, 5 August 2019 (UTC)

- Yeeks - is this something that happens predominantly with students or is it something with editors in general (and students happen to do it as well)? Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 16:25, 5 August 2019 (UTC)

- (talk page stalker) Hi, @Bshy01:, I'm Mathglot. When you post something to a Talk page, as you did above, please make sure to add your section to the bottom of the page, not the top. See WP:TALK for further details about using Talk pages. Also, as a general rule, when you talk about another article in a comment, it's considered polite to provide a link to it, or at the very least, the name of the article, so the person you're talking to doesn't have to go poking around looking for it. If you can respond below, adding a link for Shalor, I'm sure she'd appreciate it. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 11:30, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks Mathglot! I'll try to find the article, but it would be a good idea for them to link it here as well. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 13:27, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
"Student journals"
User talk:Grlucas contains links to two sets of "student journals". I think that these journals are in fact a serious mis-use of Wikipedia as a free host since they are not drafts of, nor are they discussing Wikipedia articles. Gerald Lucas should be told to move them off Wikipedia. Do you agree? — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 01:22, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- @RHaworth:, good catch. Escalating to WP:ENB. Mathglot (talk) 09:18, 25 August 2019 (UTC)
- Moved to WP:ENB § Student journals
- Since this moved over to ENB, I'll head on over there! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 13:33, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
OR by a student under "instruction"
Hi Shalor, I've just removed a section on FOMO in Video Games from the article Fear of missing out, as basically pure WP:OR cited to primary sources and constructed into a section with editorialising. I had a quick look at the history and it seems that the edits were made by a student who had been "instructed" to add something to an article for coursework. I guess the remedy is plain enough; it may be an instructive case. In one way it is splendid that students get a glimpse of how Wikipedia works, but I understand that extremely few of them ever stay on beyond the coursework, so if a) they don't become editors and b) they add material that is misleading, wrong, invented, lowers the quality of the encyclopedia, and finally has to be undone by more experienced editors, then perhaps the process isn't working quite as well as it should be. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 15:10, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
- Oh! You were User:Tokyogirl79! Fancy. I recall old times. Congratulations on becoming a Wiki Ed, a challenging role, I think. Chiswick Chap (talk) 15:12, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Chiswick Chap! I remember tagging that - I was hoping that the student would repair the work, since the class as a whole had still been running. I'd meant to come back and fix the section - sorry that I'd forgot about it!
- As far as the role goes, it definitely is challenging at times - exactly for the reasons you've posted here! We've had a couple of people stick around and do some great work, (however I will say that there have been some issues like what you've mentioned). Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 13:51, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

Chattanooga State Community College
Hi! Looks like a bunch of these articles are being deleted or weren't ready for mainspace. Wanted to bring it to your attention. (not watching, please {{ping}}
) czar 21:26, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Czar - I'd noticed the deletions. I'd also saw that some of the students had been moving work before it was ready - I think I may move some of them to AfC, to be honest. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:15, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
- Out of curiosity, are any of them the House of Representative articles? I was under the impression that this was a notable position, since they do serve at the state level. I'd asked about this years ago and this was the answer I'd received. If it's not, I want to make sure to take note of this for the future. I was kind of unsure about this in general, TBH. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:22, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
- Nope, these appear to be all local officials (state legislature or below). @Bearcat is the most active editor in that AfD area, if you have questions. czar 01:09, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- I'll quickly review the articles in the list to see which ones are problematic and which aren't: state legislators are certainly acceptable per WP:NPOL — but on the three that I've spotchecked so far, one only serves at a county level of government rather than the state, which is definitely below our bar. And I was actually responsible for nominating one of the redlinks for deletion, and she only served at a city council level (which is also below our bar.) I'll let you know which ones are problematic and which are okay in a bit. Bearcat (talk) 01:15, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- Ultimately, the majority of the list is indeed state legislators — some quality improvement is needed in some of them, but they do clear the base inclusion bar. However, five of them were city or county councillors who fall below the bar: Demetrus Coonrod and Sabrena Smedley were already deleted, Chester Bankston was moved to draftspace, and I've had to nominate Erskine Oglesby Jr. and Steven Henry (not to be confused with Steve Henry, a different person in the list who was a state legislator) for AFD. Bearcat (talk) 01:36, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks Bearcat! I remember warning several of the students about this - I was incredibly concerned that they weren't going to be notable enough. I work with the instructor again this semester and will reach out to them to make sure that the students choose people at the state level rather than at the county level (unless they find someone that has enough coverage to establish notability per NBIO). Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:30, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
Unsure about assignment
Hi, I'm in one of your wiki ed classes and I'm unsure about the instruction my instructor left me. I'm hoping you can provide some clarity. She asked us to do the article evaluation exercise, which I did. However, reading the assignment back, she wanted us to do it "in a sandbox". I just filled out the evaluation on whatever page the wiki assignment pulled up (as it contained a template), so I don't know if that was actually a sandbox or not. I also published it because I was not sure if the work would save. I need to continue editing on the work, but don't want to leave it somewhere it shouldn't be. Do I need to move the work? If so, where? Was publishing it incorrect?
I apologize for the inconvenience. I can provide a link if you need it. Thank you ahead of time. Micheladitmore (talk) 09:07, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

I have reviewed the training modules, but will review again... Thanks for any help you can provide. Dwfelice (talk) 12:37, 19 September 2019 (UTC)

Candidates and notability
Hallo, the students at Wikipedia:Wiki Ed/University of Lethbridge/Gender and Politics (Fall 2019) might need to be reminded that standing for election isn't a grounds for notability, unless I've missed something about Madeleine Sauvé, which I found while stub-sorting and nominated for CSD-A7. PamD 06:38, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you PamD for letting me know! I'll check over their work and make sure to let the instructor know as well. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:48, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- After discussion on my talk page it's now a redirect to the constituency where she's standing, but a sad waste of the student's good editing work. PamD 15:33, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- And looking at the course page it seems disappointing that the last week is "Everyone should have finished all of the work they'll do on Wikipedia, and be ready for grading." rather than something like "Everyone should have finished all of the work they'll do on Wikipedia for this course, and be ready for grading and feel confident about editing Wikipedia in future." Surely part of the aim in helping with student projects is to encourage a group of literate and articulate new editors to continue editing? PamD 15:40, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi Shalor, I also just found this listing for Able as a speaker at the "games for change" festival ( https://g4c19.sched.com/speaker/carrie_able.1znmctvp ) which says is in part sponsored by the united nations, would that be considered an academic source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SarahW2019 (talk • contribs) 15:33, 1 October 2019 (UTC)

Need Help with Making Sure I am Allowed to Use Source
Hello,
I am about to create an edit for my school assignment on the American Beauty Star Television Show Wikipedia page (my current edit is within my sandbox) but I wanted to see if you would be able to assist in making sure my source is one that I can actually use. The source is the Beauty Star Network page that talks about American Beauty Star ([1]). I plan on making a table to add a table for season 1 cast and season 2 cast, then adding this website as the source.
I have read through the site's copyright information but the language is a bit confusing. Would you be able to help me check whether I can use this site as my source for the names of cast/contestants?
Thank you so much in advance,

Recently undid this edit [1] made by a student on a course you are the content expert for. Problems with using wikivoice, sourcing and probably more importantly it violates WP:GMORFC. It is a bit of a contentious area (see Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Genetically modified organisms if you have a few hours to kill). Anyway it is not too bad an editing environment at the moment and the student is welcome to improve the article, but should probably be made aware of the extra issues regarding discretionary sanctions etc. AIRcorn (talk) 21:19, 4 October 2019 (UTC)

Help! Part 2
Shalor and Mathglot,
I don't think I was clear about my question. Yes, I understand that Supportive Communication is not a page yet because Chrissusskin is creating it himself. I know how to find his sandbox as well. My problem is that there is a link on my Dashboard home page that is not working correctly. If you look under the "My Articles" section of my Dashboard and then look under the "Articles I'm Peer Reviewing" section, you will see a link for "peer review." This link is supposed to take me to Chrissusskin's Sandbox and a set of questions to answer about the article he is creating. Instead, however, this link takes me to another classmate's sandbox: Tcjohnson11 for Conflict Management. I am not the only one with this problem. Several other students in my class have links that work incorrectly. They are all linking somehow to Tcjohnson11's sandbox. Can you please get someone to fix our links? - Oh, one other thing: when writing a message on any User talk page or Article talk page, always type four tildes at the very end of your message, like this:
~~~~
. (On many laptop keyboards, the tilde is to the left of numeral "1" in the top row.) That will automatically sign and timestamp your message for you. Thanks! Mathglot (talk) 07:37, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
Needing help with an editor
Hi there,
I am updating the "Indigenous feminism" page for Dr. Heller's WGS300W class. I had a rather rude editor delete all my changes. He accused me of things that weren't my intent at all (i.e. replacing Native authors with non-Native ones). Now I'm just really discouraged. I know if I make edits, this editor will just delete all my edits and change them to how he wants them. Any advice for reasoning with this person? It doesn't seem like he wants to listen to anything I have to say.
Question about WikiEd
Hi,
So one of the previous assignments said I needed to peer review 2 articles in my class. It appears that no one in my class has even put anything in their sandbox draft for two weeks. Am I crazy? First I use the review an article drop down, then I pick one, and I'm suppose to open the sandbox draft and then open peer review to review it. Is that correct? I tried every single article listed and every sandbox draft is empty. I just want confirmation that I cannot complete the assignment (because no one has put anything in their sandbox) so my teacher doesn't give me a bad grade. If they aren't empty then it certainly isn't showing up for me and I need help there. Thank you in advance. Micheladitmore (talk) 06:17, 19 October 2019 (UTC)
questions about others sand boxes
Hi, i am bit confused about these instructions. Where do we find other sandboxes on wikipedia? It does not say where to locate it(To find another user's sandbox, go to the Students tab of your Course page. Click on the tab with the student's username so that a dropdown menu appears. Next, select their sandbox from the list of links that appears.
You can also share the URL of your sandbox with someone else, who will be able to see all that you've drafted there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DiaEdie (talk • contribs) 20:05, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- Hi! You can find other sandboxes by going to the student tab on your dashboard page. Under each student name are a couple of links, one of which says sandboxes, the other edits. You want to select the sandboxes link - this will take you to a page that lists every page in that student's userspace (ie, anything that starts with User:(username), such as User:Shalor (Wiki Ed)/sandbox). I hope this helps! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:13, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
I have no clue what to do in my sandbox
Hi I am new to this Wikipedia. I have no clue what I'm supposed to be doing in my sandbox with the Article I've chosen. Am I supposed to copy and paste the whole article and then edit (remove/add) items? I do not know how to find new references since they are already listed in the article reference section. Also it says it needs citations but how do i find citations from this article? I tried searching virtual libraries but I cannot actually see the content of the library book to read any content from the book and rephrase it into my sandbox. I hope I make sense. This is very frustrating as my homework is due. Am I supposed to rephrase what is written in the article?
Shalor I forgot to ask but are regular websites allowed to be used as a reference? For instance I am looking into Petrified Wood jewelry and stumbled upon a website that gives information about petrified wood but also sells the jewelry.
