Edit summaries

[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that one or more recent edit(s) you made did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.

The edit summary field looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! Laterthanyouthink (talk) 05:12, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

gamebuds.au

[edit]

These regarded as one of the greatest players of all time statements you're adding to sports articles are WP:PEACOCK content without further context - and literally clarifying "regarded by gamebuds.au" (the source that you're using for all of this) shows up what the problem would be. This needs a different approach. Belbury (talk) 21:47, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Results of the 2023 Australian Indigenous Voice referendum, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lower-class. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

local_map doesn't work in some articles, e.g. Cowan Cowan

[edit]

For local_map to work, someone has to have defined the boundaries in Open Street Map (or so I am understand, it's not something I've been closely involved with). So, you need to check it is actually producing a map in the Wikipedia article. Right now, Cowan Cowan is just displaying a section of open ocean in the middle of the Atlantic (it defaults to displaying coords 0,0 when it doesn't know what else). I note that if you want to do this, the authoritative locality boundaries are available (in great detail) at the Qld Open Data Portal. Kerry (talk) 03:43, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at 2024 MrBeast controversies, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Ladarius Lesch (talk) 12:44, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How am I vandalising? I made the article. You sure you got the right person? Schestos (talk) 12:47, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The person got blocked for accusing others (me included) of vandalism without reasons. You can ignore them and carry on. Emiya Mulzomdao (talk) 13:01, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I’ll second that comment. Within the past 20 minutes, the person reverted me when I added a serial comma to an article (that is, I added the comma after "and" in "May, June and July") and then left a threatening message on my talk page that someone else reverted before I even saw it (somehow, all this took place while I went to use the toilet!). Just an obvious troll. 1995hoo (talk) 13:05, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The account above is an LTA. You can ignore them. But the article you created did contain several WP:BLP and WP:BLPCRIME violations that I have since removed. WP:SPORTSKEEDA is completely unreliable user-generated content that should not be used to cite potentially libellous claims like the article is about. C F A 💬 20:38, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What does LTA mean? Schestos (talk) 04:33, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh okay. Thanks. Schestos (talk) 04:44, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at 2024 AFL season. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 12:23, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How was it unconstructive? When Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga it was added before the season ended, for example. The minor premiers in AFL is whoever finishes first at the end of the season. Not a Swans fan but the only team that can possibly finish first at this point with one round to go is the Swans. Schestos (talk) 01:17, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your edit was disruptive because 1. it is still mathematically possible (extremely unlikely, yes, but not impossible) for another team to win the minor premiership at this stage, and 2. even if this wasn't the case, we don't add the minor premier until the end of the season at the AFL/AFLW articles – just because someone else might have decided to do it elsewhere for another sport, doesn't mean that that's how it's done everywhere. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 13:43, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Results of the 2024 New South Wales local elections in Northern Rivers, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. — MaxnaCarta  ( 💬 • 📝 ) 01:47, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2024 NSW local Northern Rivers/Mid North Coast

[edit]

Hey @Schestos, I saw that your "Results of the 2024 New South Wales local elections in Mid North Coast" and "Results of the 2024 New South Wales local elections in Northern Rivers" got chucked into draftspace

I've been editing some of the other results articles, would you mind if I added contributions to the drafts for these two as well? Just since I'm happy to get the info in + there's not that many LGAs to cover in these regions Totallynotarandomalt69 (talk) 01:55, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Derbys

[edit]

Hi. You may want to take a quick look at the guidelines on:

  • (WP:IMOS) the use of Irish language names in titles/lead sections. Which states that we only include an Irish language name "in the first sentence of the lead of an article on that subject if it is a well-known, commonly used name for that subject". And that we "[do not] 'invent' such names, as this constitutes original research". (Your recent additions to multiple articles, including Munster Derby and Louth Derby and North Belfast derby, fall within the scope of this guideline).
  • (MOS:AWW) the use of terms like "is widely regarded as [x]". Which states that terms like this should only be included "in the lead section of an article or in a topic sentence of a paragraph [..when..] the article body or the rest of the paragraph can supply attribution". See also WP:ATTRIBUTEPOV. (Your recent addition to the Copenhagen derby article falls within this scope. As the body of the article does not make, support or attribute this editorial opinion).

Just some things to consider. Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 13:02, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
