What a can of worms this turned out to be. I was blissfully unaware of that character "Tailsman"-something until the last 24 hours. And I must apologize profusely to you for mischaracterizing your fact page about that guy. I'm a bit short on sleep, and didn't get the right gist of it. I have tried to fix where I mentioned your sub-page, but if I missed any, and anyone comes asking, you have my permission to send them to my talk page and yell at me. So did TM come back and cause more trouble? Or was there just a misunderstanding about your page tracking his misdeeds? Usually when he appears, he's caused a mess all over my watchlist, but I'm not seeing anything this time... Sergecross73 msg me 02:11, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

- He wasn't actually around very long. He started making semi-strange comments on the ref desk talk page and elsewhere, and then Dave1185 (who thought he looked familiar) brought him to the attention of the admins, where it was soon determined that he was a block-evading sock. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 02:28, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
- Ah, I see it now. I used to be the first one to catch him, as he was always adding junk, or asking silly questions, at Sonic related articles, something I tend to watch over. Muzemike's deletions
Hi, I'm hoping you can help with editor User:MuZemike. I am not one of the people he is accusing of being an imposter, etc., however he does not want to admit he did wrong in deleting articles across the board without any research. He wrongly deleted the article Frank H. Reid that I have worked on and linked to. After several attempts he refused to restore the page simply on assumptions that the entire article was copied and pasted. When I asked him to show what parts were plagiarized he ignored my requests. He then offered to send me a copy so I could creat a new page. He failed to include the photo of Frank Reid that went with the article and now he is again ignoring requests to get it back. I've been a small-time editor on Wikipedia for a few years and fear I may lay off if administrators are allowed to delete articles with no warning and based purely on assumptions because of his disdain for a banned editor. I read the process of dealing with this issue but am in hopes you might be able to help because you already know the situation and I have not the time to go through the hoops in order to correct the situation. Thank you. Jeff Smith (talk) 22:47, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
- First of all, an article and an image are two completely different things; what is the link of the deleted image? Secondly, as an administrator, it is both his right and his duty to delete contributions made by banned editors without other warnings or discussion. It is not a matter a disdain, it is a matter of policy. There was no need to prove or even verify whether that particular content was in violation of other policies: it was created by a banned user known for copyvio, thus all of his edits were considered as possible copyvios and preventively deleted, without prejudice to another editor recreating the article after having made sure no copyvio was in it. Your claim that "he did wrong" seems to be seated in your personal beliefs that he shouldn't have followed the rules in this case; I recommend that as such, you word it in a way that reflects the fact it is your opinion, and not an "absolute fact". He has agreed to e-mail you a copy of the deleted article (which I understand has been done) so you could work on it and restore what needed to be, and that is fairly standard procedure. The article, as I see it, has been restored. I am not sure what more you want at the moment? Salvidrim! 02:28, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- Wow, ask for help and you get crap for it! If all my work on any one article can disappear because the original creator happens to be banned, then that obviously means it's really only safe to work on articles that oneself creates, unless, of course, oneself also gets banned. I don't get paid for this and I certainly don't do it to waist my precious time so from now on I will keep only to articles that I myself create. Sorry I bothered you. Jeff Smith (talk) 05:16, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- Whoa, I had no intention to "give you crap"; you asked for an explanation and some advice, it's what I tried to offer. In any case, you work hasn't disappeared; any administrator can view it, and a copy has been e-mailed to you. As said earlier, I'm not sure I understand what more you want at the moment... :| 05:37, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- I think he wanted to get a "Admins are evil!" rally going with you, little did he know that your (and my) mindset are pretty well in-line with ones of an Admin, as far as following policy goes. Sergecross73 msg me 15:01, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Mario Discovery Series
In my research on Mario's Time Machine (it's technically a B article, but it needs a lot of work) and Mario is Missing, I discovered a cool article that mentions that those games (as well as all the Mario's Early Years games) are all actually part of the "Mario Discovery Series". I can't really confirm or deny the validity of the article (it itself gives no sources), but the box art for at least one game does indeed show a "Mario Discovery Series" seal. All the games were developed by the same company, The Software Toolbox. I've been trying to think of a way to mention this without doing a complete overhaul on the existing articles (especially since MTM is its own article and the Mario Early Years games don't seem to have much info available). What do you think? Should this be integrated somehow with the Mario educational games article? --ThomasO1989 (talk) 14:17, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- I think the first source is certainly relable - it seems more like a label than a series, and could siimply be mentioned in the games' paragraphs & articles. Something like "This game was part of the Mario Discovery Series edutainment games produced by The Software éToolbox.". Pardon my typing, blame the iPod. :) Salvidrim! 14:24, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
RE: RfA
In theory, I think you'd be a great admin. You know policy well, work well with everyone, and I admire your ability to approach issues without bias, and/or that you're willing to change your mind if shown sound reasoning. Some other thoughts though, that I've picked up on, as I've spent a little time around RfA myself, to learn more:
- While not a hard policy, I've seen editors reference the fact that many feel that like 10,000 edits is a typical minimum requirement.
- It seems like a pretty cutthroat experience. I've heard it can be pretty disheartening if it doesn't go well, and it seems expectations are at like an all time high.
But anyways, were you ever to run, I'd argue in your favor. ^_^ Sergecross73 msg me 16:44, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- And since you also know French, you might also make a great steward/Et parce que vous comprendez Français, vous pouvriez un(e) bon(ne) steward(e).--Jasper Deng (talk) 16:58, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- Stewardship? Hold your horses! One thing at a time. :) As for Serge's concerns, one of the things making me doubt the timeliness of a self-nom is my moderately low edit count/edit rate and my few months of active editing. I'm in no hurry, however. As for being disheartened, that's hardly a worry for me; I prefer honest criticism to senseless praise, so even if an eventual RfA fails, the concerns raised will only be helpful to my growth as an editor. I'm thinking about self-nominating more and more these days, although I'm tempted to say being patient and waiting for a nomination may be the wisest of choices. In any case, thanks for the good words. :) Salvidrim! 17:07, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Re: Thoughts on a Dr. Mario FAC
While I think the article's quite solid, the only real downfall I can think of is that the Development section is quite sparse in terms of actual development, other than a small mention of who-did-what. If it does fail FAC, then we'd most likely know what to do to make it better. BTW, I'm currently doing heavy work on Pikmin 2 to bring it up to at least C-class... would you mind taking a look at it? I feel it's hard to balance making it comprehensible versus making it a game guide, but it's significantly less crufty than before. I haven't done much with the Reception section yet, though. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 03:47, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
- Normally I'd say you're far better than me to put gameplay into prose! I haven't played the game at all, so maybe a set of fresh eyes will help. And I'll think about maybe a PR before FAC of Dr. Mario. Salvidrim! 03:57, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Account Creation question
That tag feels like a lazy way to get help, but I'm not sure what noticeboard that'd be appropriate on.
In short, I want to reserve another username by using a doppelgänger account, like I did with User:Salvadrim & User:Salvid. The username would be User:Salv, which doesn't exist. However, when trying to create it, it says it is "too similar" to User:SAL-V, which has no edits for years. Is there a place I can request the creation of Salv!? Thanks in advance! ;) Salvidrim! 00:52, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- I think what you're looking for is WP:Usurpation. AniMate 01:09, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- Nope, I don't actually want to change my account name. :/ Salvidrim! 02:13, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- I went to WP:ACC, I'll wait to hear from them. Otherwise I'll post at some relevant Help Desk. :) Salvidrim! 02:17, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- The more I think about this the more unnecessary it seems. Has impersonation really been that much of an issue? AniMate 02:25, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- Impersonation - not yet. The question is, do I want to wait? I don't see a compelling reason not to take preventive steps and reserve accounts names being used to refer to me, and if there is such a reason in the future, an Usurpation request can be lodged by whoever wants the name. Salvidrim! 02:28, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- Perhaps you should also reserve Salivdri, Salvidr, Salv, Sal and Sa? Or perhaps they'll go from the front so you should reserve Alvidrim, Lvidrim, Vidrim, Drim, Rim, and Im. It's been said that Wikipedia is really one big WP:MMORPG, and if it is you seem to be playing pretty hard. I've seen you do battle against a troublesome user, compiling information to the point where I had to delete it. Now you're shoring up the battlements, making sure that no one can impersonate you. It's silly game playing and utterly pointless. Focus on articles, because the maturity level involved here leaves a lot to be desired. AniMate 02:47, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- *shrugs* I'm trying to avoid drama and simplify things, not cause any kind of controversy. However I understand your concerns and will, at least until further issues arise, heed your advice. I will however keep User:Salvadrim as a doppëlganger, as that is a surprisingly common misspelling of my username, and the redirect is beneficial. Salvidrim! 02:57, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello Salvadrim!, I am Mlpearc an Admin from ACC and I have your request reserved. This conversation is kinda confusing, have you changed your mind on the User:Salv account ? Due to your last statement it's unclear. I have never seen this type of situation before at ACC. Kinda busy ATM not sure when I'll remember to check for a reply, so if you could leave a {{talkback}} on my talk page so I don't forget to check back. I'll have to look into the ACC procedure on this type of request. Cheers, Mlpearc (powwow) 04:04, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- Meh, truth be told I'd obviously like to have that "safety net" but the concerns raised above by AniMate also make sense. I guess if it's simple and possible, now that it's ready to be done, then by all means go ahead, but if it requires any kind of research, discussion or other steps, then it's not worth the effort at the time being. Salvidrim! 04:07, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
- LOL, Well, I still need to find out what's done in this situation, so I'll keep your request reserved and when I find out the answer I'll either drop the request or create the account, either way I'll let you know here what action was taken till then cheers Mlpearc (powwow) 04:55, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Koopa Troopa article
Hello! There was passing comment about the possible creation of a Koopa Troopa article on the Mario navbox talk. I just thought I'd ask your opinion on this, because it's been on my mind; do you think it would be best to create an article entitled 'Koopa' or something of the sort, thus encompassing the species as a whole, or would it be best to simply create a 'Koopa Troopa' article, covered "sub-species" such as Paratroopas, Dry Bones, etc. Or perhaps Dry Bones should even have his own article? My concern is that I consider Lakitu a 'Koopa', but he has his own article.
What are your thoughts on this? Thought we could get some ideas together and hopefully put this long-overdue article together quite shortly! SnoopingAsUsual (talk) 00:40, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
- Expand from the existing material at Koopa Troopa. Dry Bones, Bowser, Lakitu, Hammer Bros. et al. are already mentioned as being subspecies and the separate mentions should remain. The most needed thing for a full article is significant coverage from independant sources... :) Salvidrim! 00:51, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks. Might get to that within the week. :) SnoopingAsUsual (talk) 00:54, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

- Mostly because the relevant lists were split, and I personally believe racing and sports games to be two entirely different genres & categories, thus I boldly split them back (they had been merged, also without explanation, years ago, IIRC). I do not believe the Mario Kart series to be a sports game, thus it is mentioned neither on the Sports list nor in the template; it is a racing game. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Salvidrim (talk • contribs) 17:57, 19 May 2012

Afd-merge to template placement (Mindcraft)
Hi. Having a quick look through Category:Articles to be merged after an Articles for deletion discussion I spotted a couple of talkpages there. I've just moved the {{Afd-merge to}} tag from the Talk:Mindcraft to Mindcraft, per the instructions at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Administrator instructions#Carrying out the AfD close. Do you use Mr.Z-man/closeAFD? This should place things correctly, reducing the scope for simple slip-ups. I hope this is helpful. Cheers. -- Trevj (talk) 12:36, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hm, thanks! I think I indeed got confused once or twice witht he placement on {afd-merge from} and {afd-merge to} tags. I'm not using the above mentioned script; I am using the Vector skin, which is unmentionned, and am still waiting for a reply on the user's talk page concerning compatibility. :) Salvidrim! 12:40, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Never tried the Vector skin. Glad to hear you're already aware of this potential issue. -- Trevj (talk) 13:04, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

I found that someone had created a page for me on WikiQuote. I was a little puzzled when I saw the edit summaries. The IP is in Pensacola, just like so many of the IPs listed here. FYI, and perhaps this one should be added. Cheers... Doc talk 04:27, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- *facepalm* Some days I feel like he really wants to be helpful to the project, other days I get the feeling he's campaigning for a Wikimedia-wide ban. >_< Salvidrim! 04:39, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- I know we're supposed to assume good faith, but at this point, it really seems like the only time he makes it appear that he's being "helpful" is when he's pleading to not be blocked, and that's for sympathy, not to actually better the project. Sergecross73 msg me 14:17, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

"Fly off the handle"...?
At which part did I fly off the handle? You posted speculative information where it doesn't belong, from a dubious source at best. I told you about that twice, and you refused to see reason. Instead, you want to talk about it? What's there to talk about? There is no room for speculation anywhere on that page. Especially from some random no-name journalist. What if my theory is that it's coming to the 3DS? If I posted that, you probably wouldn't feel it too kosher. Exact same thing here. This is nothing more than a case of you personally hoping it's coming to the Vita, and trying to spread what little you can find on the subject. Wikipedia is not the place for that. Wikipedia is a place for FACTS, not random guessing from a random guy on 1Up, or your wishful thinking. Discussion over? --68.230.252.5 (talk) 19:22, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
- I just want to point something out -- I cannot comprehend your assertion that "you've told me twice" as this is the first time you send me any message. And I didn't mean "fly off the handle" to further enrage you -- it just seems to me that you've been having a very confrontational and aggressive attitude so far. Since there has been no discussion from you about this dispute on the article's talk page (as far as I can see), I think it'd be incorrect to say a dicussion is over. I don't believe the game is coming to PS Vita; I don't even know anything about the game. I am simply including facts from reliable sources in the article. The only fact here is that "1up speculates the game may be coming to PS Vita". If a reliable, credible source theorizes it was coming to the SNES, it may be something worth including. The fact that you do not personally believe in the rumours doesn't mean that the rumours don't exist; reliable sources are reporting on them. I will point you to our policy on veriafibility that says we abide by reliable sources, not "The Truth". The fact that there are rumours about the game being released on PS Vita is verifiable, that is the only thing that matters. Hope this sheds some light on the issue. If you still disagree, by all means, take it to the article's talk page. I've only edited the article once and have no wish to war with you (or anyone for that matter), thus I will not be reinstating the material anyways. Salvidrim! 19:31, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Re: Recent Nintendo Power issues
Hi. I was wondering if you had a few issues that could help me out a bit for the Mutant Mudds article. There's a preview in the June 2011 issue, another preview in the December 2011 issue, and a full review in the January/February 2011 issue. Thanks. ~ Hibana (talk) 10:15, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hm, okay.
- I have the review (Jan/Feb 2012, #275, p.31), it's a one-page thing in the Evaluation Station.
- I have the second preview (Dec 2011, #274, p.25).
- I have the first, lengthier preview (Jun 2011, #268, p.22-25).
- I'll try to see if I can scan it and send you e-mails, would that be fine? Salvidrim! 16:40, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
RE: Mario Kirby Masterpiece
For proof that the video exists, here is the article's link on the Mario Wiki: [1]
Here's footage from the actual tape itself: [2]
Mario Kirby Masterpeice was originaly an educational tape that was meant for teaching Japanese children Kanji characters. The tape is now very rare and extremely hard to find. In fact, its even more rare than Super Mario Bros.: Peach-Hime Kyushutsu Dai Sakusen! and the Super Mario Amada Series! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.60.243.144 (talk) 22:34, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
- Wow! Very interesting! I'll do a bit more research and see if I can unearth enough to make it an article. :) Salvidrim! 23:04, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
Hi again. Have you found anything yet? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.61.15.81 (talk) 22:41, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- Been working 60 hours weeks lately, haven't had much time for anything really =/ Salvidrim! 23:18, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh, okay. I've seen your work on Wikipedia. I think that its really good. With 60 hour weeks, plus all the other articles you edit I can see why you wouldn't have time. Thanks for taking the time of replying to my comments, though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.61.15.81 (talk) 23:24, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
Vandalism?
That wasn't vandalism, and you reverted it back to the version I switched it to. A little eager to find baddies tonight are we? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.248.253.40 (talk) 03:47, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- I see you have no other edits than the one to my talk page -- if you point me to the edit in question I'd be happy to review it more in-depth. :) Salvidrim! 03:49, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- I believe you may be referring to this edit tagged with section blanking after the entirety of the "Story" section was removed without providing any reasoning in the edit summary. While I will agree its writing was not up to Wikipedia's standards (especially WP:INUNIVERSE), a rewrite, as is being done by Kronnang Dunn, is clearly the preferable course of action. Salvidrim! 04:00, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
- After reading more into it, it seems one editor added it, a few removed, arguments ensued, etc. While it may not have been evident vandalism, understand that blanking a whole section without providing a reason will inevitable be regarded as vandalism; proper use of edit summaries will in future avoid any such confusion. Also... please insult people who disagree with you; it's kind of rude. Salvidrim! 04:03, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Video game platform discussion
Hi there! As someone who participated in the "platform" discussion at WikiProject Video games, you are probably well aware of the complexities involved in the issue. Thus far we've discussed quite a few points but haven't come to any firm conclusions. One of the participants has suggested that we hold a !vote. Please share your thoughts on how we should proceed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games#Starting a !vote. If you would like to !vote, one of the participants has already provided several options. Thanks for your help! CaseyPenk (talk) 16:24, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
