Welcome to my talk page. Please leave me a message below and I will generally reply on your talk page. Although my email address is enabled, it is not an address I check often (so I may be slow in replying to email and very much prefer to have conversations here). Please also note that while I am glad to do a peer review on just about any article, I do not usually have the time to do copyedits (sorry). Thanks for stopping by and happy editing! Sentence spacing FAC

Greetings! The Sentence spacing article is an FAC again. I thought I'd let other editors have a go at it, but after some time, no one seems to want to weigh in one way or another—just comments.(Except for the emphasized "oppose" for an image objection, of course, that the editor won't come back and strike.)

I see two possibilities. (1) Editors are too attached to their own spacing habits and are not interested in supporting an article that might suggest (even in an NPOV manner) that there is another way to do it, and (2) the article's prose (or another aspect of the article) is simply not up to par yet.

I'll assume number 2. I hate to keep bothering you on this, but during the last FAC nom, you mentioned that you had some more comments. Perhaps you could bring them to bear so I can improve the article further if necessary?

Thanks for your time. --Airborne84 (talk) 20:54, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

PR backlog

I'm getting a bit worried about this. It presently stands at 13; however, between 30 June and 2 July, 15 more nominations were added to the PR page. My reviewing involvement is limited to one or two a week because of my FAC duties (I also have an article at FAC, am preparing Tosca for PR and have Mahler coming up on the front page on 7th!), and with Finetooth's time limited at the moment, it seems that an unreasonable PR burden is falling on you. Is it time to use the "warning" banner again, making it clear that articles won't be reviewed unless nominators take some of the burden themselves? It worked for a while the last time we did this. Brianboulton (talk) 09:04, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

I will put up a "warning" message when I update the backlog tonight. Glad to hear of recent FAC activities. In that respect, I wonder if you could do me a tiny favour, by looking at my nom The Temple at Thatch there? It has a couple of supports (for which I am grateful), but has had hardly any attention. I'm quite embarrassed by the lack of comment, compared with those around it. Even the dablinks haven't been checked. Could you visit it, perhaps check the dablinks/and or images, or otherwise give some impression that the nom is still alive? It might awaken a little interest! Brianboulton (talk) 15:52, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll look forward to your comments. (It won't take long, this is my shortest yet.) Brianboulton (talk) 20:18, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Congratulations. Curry County is getting a lot of attention lately. Meanwhile User:Little Mountain 5 got a good aerial photo today of the notched dam on Elk Creek (Rogue River). The dam has a no-trespassing area around it, and I tried but failed to get an interesting shot in April. Finetooth (talk) 00:29, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Nice work. I just made an article for Arizona Beach State Recreation Site, it's in Curry County too. Weird. Dincher (talk) 21:55, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Notice of Request for Deletion of a Peer Review Comments

As a courtesy I wanted to let you know of my request for deletion of this page below which I beleive to be non-controversial. It consists only of comments by you (thank you, by the way) during a peer review for a page Don Martin (public affairs) that is now non-existant and will not be re-created by me. Therefore the archive is just a list of suggested edits to a deleted page. However it comes up in Google searches and confuses the reader because it is detailed edit suggestions for a permanently deleted page. DmartinausTalk 01:37, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

The article Wikipedia:Peer review/Don Martin (Austin, Texas)/archive1 has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on [[Talk:Wikipedia:Peer review/Don Martin (Austin, Texas)/archive1|the article's talk page]].

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Similar article re mediation

Ruhrfisch - there is only one other similar article and I have tagged it with the G8 template. It is Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Don Martin (Austin, Texas) if you want to look at it too. DmartinausTalk 02:57, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank you - I've put in some changes and now hope the copyedit wizards can work their magic. It may be that the fair use issue will come into play for a couple of the images, but for now I will wait and see how the next review goes. Before you wrote something I had not considered there might be an issue so the comments were helpful. - Wallanon (talk) 05:33, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

Hey i want to thank you a lot. I will work on the article and tell you in case i need help. Thanks again. Jivesh boodhun (talk) 11:41, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

I am deeply sorry for not contributing to the album for the time being. Actually, my grandfather just passed away. He died today itself. Please try to understand. See you later. Jivesh boodhun (talk) 16:54, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

I have been told that the only thing the album lacks is a proper formatting of references. I have already started the work and i have fixed all dead links today itself. The copy edit has already been done. Can you help me to format the references? Please help me to make it pass GA. Jivesh boodhun (talk) 09:07, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

state release of NRHP photos

Hi Ruhrfisch hope u r doing well. Hey, i wonder if you could provide a link and/or restate briefly your experience with getting the state of Pennsylvania's SHPO to release a photo, which i recall you succeeded with sometime before, in a new productive discussion at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files/2010 June 24#File:Church Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion y San Fernando of Toa Alta.JPG. It's about NRHP photos connected to the Puerto Rico SHPO. The PR SHPO and/or other PR officials are actually being helpful in releasing photos into the public domain, upon request by User:Tony the Marine upon issue being raised by User:Quazgaa's uploading of many NRHP photos. It's not all the way worked out yet though. The state SHPO there holds the negatives for many, but I recall that is not important / does not translate into meaning they hold copyright. Your commenting about that and linking to the photo and/or its OTRS permission that you obtained, would be helpful. Thanks in advance! Happy 4th of July weekend, on the late side, too. :) --doncram (talk) 20:11, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Malaysia peer review

Hi, thanks for doing a peer review on Malaysia. I appreciate the suggestions and will be working on them. Thanks again! BejinhanTalk 06:14, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Peer review/Little Thetford/archive2

Thank you for your comments on the peer review, of Little Thetford. I am working through them, noting progress as I go. I am struggling with how to structure the references in the light of your comments. As it will be a lot of work, I would welcome your thoughts on my reply to your feedback. I am keen to resolve this today if possible. --Senra (talk) 18:18, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Done I think. I have completed the actions arising out of your comments. I would welcome you confirming that the changes are to your satisfaction --Senra (talk) 16:25, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Toolbox

Hello there, and thank you very much for your recent peer review of Canadian Afghan detainee issue. I have reworked the article as per your suggestions, except for the two points about the disambig links tool and the external link checker in the Toolbox. I can't see these, can you give me a detailed process on how to access these? Thank you again, your help is very much appreciated. --Natural RX 22:21, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks alot. Here, I think you deserve this.

Piedmont College

A few years ago you did a peer review on the Piedmont College article. I worked on most of the suggestions you had, but I've realized that I need to incorporate more of the history into the main article. I wanted your opinion/knowledge about if I should merge History of Piedmont College with Piedmont College. If I decide to, do I need to put up a notice and wait some amount of time, or can I just begin rewriting? Thanks in advance. -- RandorXeus. 12:51, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the suggestion

Thanks for mentioning Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Photography workshop in the PR for Walter Bache. I submitted my request and the first two pictures (out of three) look much better. Jonyungk (talk) 14:55, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

BTW, I am wavering on sending the article to GAC. It does not seem good enough to go to FAC at this time, yet without further biographical info (which at this stage does not seem forthcoming), I am at a loss at how to further improve it. What are your thoughts? Jonyungk (talk) 15:40, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Re-review of Canadian Afghan detainee issue

Hey Ruhrfisch. Seeing as you were such a great help before, I was curious if you wouldn't mind taking another look at Canadian Afghan detainee issue, as I have added more content. I want to double check I have not made any silly mistakes before send it to GAN. If you could leave the comments on the archived peer review, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! --Natural RX 19:21, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Northumberand County

I just reverted some edits on Northumberland County, Pennsylvania that are a problem. Could you delete them please? They are not vulgar but they certainly are not kind. Dincher (talk) 23:44, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Flickr

Somebody uploaded one of my flickr pics File:Steppedlabyrinthspillway.jpg and added it to several articles including Hope Mills Lake. I just noticed this today, but I had previously noticed that the picture in question had a much greater number of views than similar pics I had taken of the same subject. I had no idea from flickr that it had been uploaded. So I am now not so sure that NicholasT knows about all his pics being uploaded from flickr. Dincher (talk) 14:07, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

And two more noms are in the queue. Dincher (talk) 18:36, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
I am not sure what you mean by a larger image. Do you mean a larger sized image or a image of the whole dam? Dincher (talk) 02:46, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

I need to go back and see if you answered the above question. Thanks again for the congrats. I will be working on Fort Defiance State Park today. It's in Iowa. Dincher (talk) 15:34, 11 July 2010 (UTC) :Yes. I think the bigger picture should be uploaded. Could you do it? I am at "work" and cannot access flickr. If you don't have time I will do it when I get home. You could upload an empty lake pic too if you want. Dincher (talk) 15:36, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

Delete away. Dincher (talk) 02:02, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the encouragement and comments on this article. After taking a couple of days to think about it, I agree with you that the article is FA quality and have nominated it for FAC. Jonyungk (talk) 00:42, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks very much for your support. However, SandyGeorgia is asking for an image review. This should be no problem, as all the images should qualify as PD:old. Nevertheless, could you possibly help out? Thanks. Jonyungk (talk) 04:06, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks very much for doing the image review so quickly. Jonyungk (talk) 14:55, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Bald Eagle State Park and Madison Buffalo Jump

The pics are all pretty good. I definetly think that the pano should go at the bottom like your other panos at the other parks. Maybe the memorial in the Sayers section. The dam pic would be better than the aerial photo currently being used in the lake section. Looks like you had a nice visit. Dincher (talk) 21:18, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

I just created Madison Buffalo Jump State Park. Any hook ideas? I have a few but can't narrow it down. Also is it long enough? Dincher (talk) 23:33, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
I submitted a hook, but ALTs are as always accepted. Dincher (talk) 00:34, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

The first pic below the infobox would be good to replace. Dincher (talk) 02:51, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for your assistance in bringing the Sentence spacing article to FA status. It would not have been possible without your earnest efforts. Best regards, --Airborne84 (talk) 03:58, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Feedback on Christchurch

Thanks for the feedback, I have already made a start and will get around to the rest soon. Do I need to copy and paste it elsewhere or will your suggestions remain there? I have already reviewed one article at peer review (Jeffrey Street) but will get around to doing another later. Regards--Ykraps (talk) 08:41, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
P.S. I received your feedback a couple of days ago but forgot to acknowledge it, sorry.

Mechanical filter

Thank you for your offer to review mechanical filter, that would very much be appreciated, your reviews on other articles have been extremely valuable. I am especially in need of having it pointed out to me where jargon and stock phrases are obstructing understandability. I am often quite blind to the problem when the phrases are used in my everyday real-life work. In any case, it is going to be a little while before I nominate the article for FAC (unless someone else does) as I wanted to nominate Harpy Tomb first as part of the Wikipedia:GLAM/BM project. Millennium Park FAC

The Millennium Park FAC is getting a bit long in the tooth. If you have any opininos they would be welcome now.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 20:14, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Much of the content was copied from the WP:LEADs of the other FAs.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 02:42, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Looks like this got closed (due to lack of enthusiasm/interest by reviewers). Do they no longer restart noms. This seems like the kind that gets restarted.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 02:45, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
In terms of your editing efforts, we need two FAs and now we have three candidates Lurie Garden, Millennium Park and Grant Park Music Festival. Spend your time on whichever you think is our best shot. I am still working on Lurie a bit, however. I just finished reviewing a lot of stoff to beef up Lurie Garden.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 21:41, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
There is a two-week wait to renominate it by myself. I believe we can co-nominate one whenever you are ready. However, you may have to co-nom a different article. If we want to get one into the pipeline quickly it would have to be one of the other two. Keep in mind the project will be delisted from WP:FT if we don't get two more by Sept.1, so if you could rush whichever one that would be great. However, I of course appreciate any assistance in whatever time you are able to make for it.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 03:40, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
In terms of Exelon Pavilions, I am a bit disappointed in how little non-local stuff I can find. I will look around and see if I can find any new content to add. If you think it is our best shot, I trust your judgement.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 04:59, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Personally, I think the garden is closer (but needs better images) than the Pavilions. In either case, if you work on one of those we can renom as soon as you finish, but we have to wait 2 weeks (until the 30th) for the general park article. I am still looking around for more Pavilion stuff and will try to add what I can this evening.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 15:50, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
Any I don't mean to be impatient or rude, but just a reminder we have a September 1 deadline, 2 article shortage, and July 30 chance to put the main article back up at FAC, plus three other potential articles in need of your attention. If you can move this up your priority list that would be good. I apologize if I sound pushy, but you know I spend a lot of time managing the WP:CHICAGO project and we are now in trouble in terms of protecting our only WP:FT.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 14:36, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Kesha

Hi! Thanks for the peer review. CK requested the peer review on my behalf[1] and I made ammendments to the article according to the review you provided. Since that is done I'd like to know what else can be done for the article. You mentioned personally copyediting the article. Are you still up for that? (Or did I misread the message?) I had originally only wanted an opinion on the article being upgraded to a B on the quality scale, so it is especially heartening to hear that it could possibly be of GA status. Anyway, thanks for the work and thanks for complimenting the joint effort made all the contributors to the page, your peer review was much appreciated. Fixer23 (talk) 07:48, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

A second look would be great. I'll look into getting it copyedited by someone else. Thanks again! Fixer23 (talk) 02:45, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

LH panos

I really like the Main Street pano, and I think it would look swell across the bottom of the LH article. I just got back from my Bull Run photo shoot, and I don't know what I have yet. The bus made only three stops, and we were understandably kept on a fairly short leash. Thanks for shooting the panos. Finetooth (talk) 00:29, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

They both look good. I hadn't thought of putting the levee photo in the flood section, but it looks fine there. Finetooth (talk) 01:19, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Steamtown

OMG, I had just finished writing a message to you on the SNHS discussion page and I was going to come here to paste it when I got your message. Frankly, I do not fully understand the discussion you referred me to. National registry form stuff doesn't really excite me. Anyway here is my message. It was written with a little frustration and I mean it with all due respect:

I first looked at the Steamtown National Historic Site article a few days ago and my impression was that the whole thing was cut and pasted from the NPS website. Since I have visited the Scranton Steamtown site twice, I've always been puzzled as to why the staff there downplays its history. I don't think that a neutral article is supposed to be like that. My first reaction was to start a new article, Steamtown, USA which would tell of the early roots of Steamtown, in Vermont, and include the many pieces of equipment that have since been eliminated from the collection. And I did. It is not complete, but the history section is. Once I completed the history my research continued into the Scranton years. I looked back at this article to see two, uncited 'cut and paste" paragraphs. I was well into my 11th paragraph (so far) rewrite when I took a look at the discussion page and saw that you already had several of the sources that I has just cited. I have to ask, if you were familiar with the sources, why didn't you just write it and cite it?--Ishtar456 (talk) 03:44, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

well, feel free to write the DL&W history, lol. And, yes the Steamtown, USA article is approved for DYK, but I did not nom it, someone else did and I am very pleased. I have to tell you that if I ever get done what I envision it might even be an FA, some day. Some of those photos, btw, were taken with my instamatic camera when I was 11.--Ishtar456 (talk) 04:03, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
PS my favorite line of the SNHS article now is "...while the tourists in Vermont had enjoyed the sites of cornfields, farms, covered bridged, and a waterfall and gorge on a Steamtown excursion,[22] the Scranton trip to Moscow, PA cut right through one of the nations largest junk yards.[23] The junk yard, which Ralph Nader had described as "the eighth wonder of the world", was an eye sore that was also visible from route 81.[23]" I've been wanting to say that ever since my father and I took that trip in C.1985. We stayed at the Hilton Lackawanna. --Ishtar456 (talk) 04:10, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

It is funny, but as I research the way I do (mostly newspapers that are free on google archives, chronologically as I write) certain things fall into place and the very next line I wrote after we had this discussion was: The site they were referring to had belonged to the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad (DL&W). On the property were 13 buildings, built between 1865 and 1937 and all listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.[29] I guess I will write whatever the research yields. Take Care, --Ishtar456 (talk) 05:26, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Kripalu Center

Hi. A long time ago you participated briefly in discussion about Kripalu Center. The article has some of the same issues now that it had in March 2009. I got involved after the article's name appeared on a couple of noticeboards and a user talk page that I had watchlisted. WP:PR thanks

Just wanted to say thanks for all your reviews (including obviously an article I am working on) at WP:PR. I saw the signpost article; I used to review articles like crazy years ago... takes a lot of time, especially to give to the detailed ones. RN 21:05, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, wasn't requesting a reply but very helpful. I finally found a self-published book that's great and was used in a legal case and a couple professor dissertations as well as recommended reading by college professors, so I think that qualifies... and it will cover basically everything in the history up to 2002 or so - finally after 4 years of searching for decent one :). I'll be sure and review a couple WP:PR to make up for it. Thanks again! RN 05:45, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Bull Run images

Thanks. I got happier about this batch as I worked on them today. The two in the deep woods are awfully dark at the thumb setting but easier to see in a larger size. Kripalu

You seem to suggest incorrectly that I am hiding a conflict of interest regarding Kripalu.
I have never worked for Kripalu & never visited there, nor have I ever practiced Yoga in any form. I take an interest in the Berkshires, because, for several years (a decade+ prior to Kripalu acquiring its site), I lived in the region. I came upon Kripalu on Wikipedia while working on the article Yokun Ridge, which in turn, stemmed from an interest in the Taconic Mountains.
It was suggested, vaguely & perhaps even disingenuously, that because I was "familiar with staff nicknames," one could deduce that I had a conflict of interest.
It wasn't mentioned that the "staff nicknames" weren't "Peewee in the laundry room," and "Jake in cafeteria," but a couple of Hindu honorifics (not "nicknames" at all!) attached to president and CEO. I found these on Kripalu's Web site.

I don't now recall these honorific titles & somebody else long ago removed them for reasons I don't remember. You can easily go find them, if interested.

Via Google, I've added a large number of diverse reliable sources to the Kripalu article; in fact nearly all now appearing on the list. Some are flattering to Kripalu, some unflattering, & some indifferent. This, I would submit, is as it should be.
Perhaps you could spread this around about me in your side discussions? I'd appreciate that.

Peter Green deleted

Thanks- good to know. I'll beging looking for another old photo of Peter Green. I'm glad I was able back then to secure the recent one now used on many of the different language Wikipedias.. it's a shame, and it's why every single time I hope to get an image from Flickr, that besides tutoring the photographers on changing their license to Creative Commons, I specifically ask whether the photo was taken by that person! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 06:26, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Bull Run River PR

I think Bull Run River is ready for FAC, but I'm running it through PR first to make sure. If you could give it a once-over, I'd be grateful. On another topic, I didn't say a lot about your most recent additions to the Lock Haven article, but I really like them. The article includes a superior collection of images and maps thanks almost entirely to you. Finetooth (talk) 19:32, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Ricketts Glen State Park

The wildlife section is way too brief. It only touches on the deer. We need to find more information about the other creatures. Even if it is only quite general. I will look into this at somepoint. Hopefully today if time permits. I like the map, but it doesn't seem to be "clickable" like it says it is. Is it supposed to be clickable or are you still working on this? I could also add more to the cabins, etc section. More details. I will have more time this weekend to add to it and perhaps we could wait until Sunday or Monday for a DYK nom. Thanks for the congrats on MBJSP. I am glad I never had to heard bison over a cliff to get something to eat! The images look good, but I note they need alt texts. I loathe working on the alt texts, but will work on it too. Dincher (talk) 19:52, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

I was able to add some but not much to the wildlife, birds and recreation sections. Dincher (talk) 20:43, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
I am fine with the hook. I am thinking about adding more detail to the wildlife section. Perhaps more details about the "big" woods animals like the deer, bears, turkeys, etc. Dincher (talk) 02:38, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
Your ideas are sound. I'll have loads of time Sat. and Sun. night to work on them. Good night! Dincher (talk) 02:46, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

I actually used the brochure for some of the information I added yesterday. Don't know if our waterfalls project influenced them or not, but I like to think that it did. Dincher (talk) 20:40, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

My hook has been shot down for Oliver Lee Memorial State Park. Could you come up with an ALT hook please? Dincher (talk) 20:46, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

She's trained and there's nothing else to do until we close so I was able to add general info about deer and bears. How does it look? I am concerned that it's too general. Dincher (talk) 00:07, 25 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. I am finished with it for now. It's all yours. Dincher (talk) 00:20, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

I think we are ready to move the article to main space and nominate it for DYK? What do you think? Dincher (talk) 20:41, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

I like the new pictures. I am pretty sure I've seen all of them on the commons side. I think my favorite pic is one that's not so new. It's the park office with two curious lads examining what appears to be a stump in front of the main entrance. Thanks for moving it. Nominate it for DYK at your leisure. Just expanded Camano Island State Park. Could you do a quick check and see if it's long enough? Dincher (talk) 22:27, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

It seems like every FAC I look at has an oppose from the same user. Fasach Nua. Do you think we'll have any problems with our pics for Ricketts Glen State Park? I really don't understand many of the users objections. They seem to be very nitpicky. Dincher (talk) 22:52, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

No need to change it back unless you really want to. We could ask Nigara. Dincher (talk) 02:13, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

Stephens City FAC

Hello, Nyttend recommended I ask you about this since you have FA experience under your belt. I am working on an "Economy" section (see here) and ran into a problem. All and all the page looks good according to Nyttend (though I would like your opinion as well, can't have too many eyes on one page) just that there is some capitalization problems. I am capitalizing too many common names. Unfortunately, these are categories used by the US Census Bureau (were I am getting the information), so I am not sure what I should do. Nyttend said: "Probably best to go (1) without capitals, since they're common terms, or (2) note that they're fitting into specific Census Bureau categories by those names" but he also said "but this would be something to ask Ruhrfisch". So which would you do in an FAC case? I am leaning toward un-capitalizing the categories, which would be fine with me, I just want to make sure that is the right thing to do. Please let me know your opinion on this and any comments you have on anything else in the section that jumps out at ya. Thanks....NeutralhomerTalk03:51, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick note. I have un-capitalized the categories and will add the ref if asked. See, the problem with Stephens City, is it is a small town of 1,503. There really isn't much economy in the town limits. The main economy is either east of town with the fast food restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations (we are near an interstate) or in Winchester (a town of almost 30,000) 5 miles to the north of us. Some even go to Washington, DC (about 65 miles to the east) for jobs as well. So, there really isn't anything in the Stephens City area to source economic information, hence why I had to strongly rely on the US Census. If there were other sources, I definitely would have used those, no question and there may be one day as Stephens City grows, but at present, we are just a "little dot on the map" in the middle of nowhere and to some, we are just an exit off Interstate 81. For all the other sections, I kinda copied the layout and look of Minneapolis, an already minted FA. :) Thanks for your help. I am going to put this section in action and if you see anything else on the page (at Stephens City, Virginia) or elsewhere that needs tinkering, please do let me know. :) Take Care and Have a Good Sleep...NeutralhomerTalk05:05, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
That is the problem, there just aren't any sources out there. We are that tiny of a town. :) Kinda like it that way, but it makes things tough. Now there may be sources for Winchester, which is five miles to the north, but that wouldn't have anything to do with Stephens City. I will, though, look as I missed the Census information, I might have missed this and give everything another look-see. :) I will let you know what I find. - NeutralhomerTalk22:25, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
I looked in my one local paper for "economy" information but didn't find much. They only went back three months. The other local paper, you have to pay to see the stories on their website, what a ripoff. I'm not paying for the paper, why would I pay to read them online? But that is a rant for another time, I guess. I think, for now at least until new information comes along, the Census information will have to be what there is, sadly. Just wish I could do better. :( - NeutralhomerTalk02:12, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Yup, they do...going back to 1899 :) The Winchester Star (the one you have to pay for online) has been in business a long time. The Northern Virginia Daily (the other local paper), I am not quite sure how long they have been in business or if the Handley Library in Winchester keeps copies of that paper or not. I would think they would, but am not sure. Some of The Winchester Star papers are on microfish last time I checked, but not sure how far that goes up to. - NeutralhomerTalk02:29, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
To be honest, neither would I. If they did, I could search for "Stephens City" and "Economy", but that might bring just certain things. :S I did that on Google and came up with a TON of stuff that was completely unrelated to the town. The only thing I found was City-Data.com, but it doesn't say where they get their information and the site was the subject of an RS discussion and they made it pretty clear it wasn't a reliable source. - NeutralhomerTalk03:29, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Omar al-Bashir Review

Howdy,

I noticed you posted yesterday that you were in the process of reviewing the article. Have you come to any conclusions? If not, I understand, you seem busy lately trying to clear the backlog. Given your status there, feel free to place this review last on your list of priorities if it makes your job less difficult. At any rate... Cheers! and Thanks! A certain lady

I have been distracted of late in FLC territory but I took some time out to write up my favourite kidnappee, Lady Grange. Looks like a shoe-in for GA to me but I wondered if you might venture an opinion on it as a possible FAC? I am a little ring-rusty in that department and it is the only time I have ever written a biographical article of any substance. There is no hurry at all. Thank You

Thank you for your time and efforts on behalf of the Omar al-Bashir peer review, I truly appreciate them. Though it might be awhile before I get around to them, I will fix all the problems you cite and then apply for FA. If you wish at that time, I can send you a link. Again Thanks, and good luck in the future. Cheers! Cwill151 (talk) 20:29, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Greenland map request

You may remember that last year we collaborated on Nansen's Fram Expedition. This year, I am expanding the Fridtjof Nansen article, and will be using at least one of your excellent Fram maps. But I need another, to cover Nansen's Greenland expedition of 1888–89. At present I am using File:NansenGreenlandrevisedMap.jpg, but it's nowhere near as clear as the Fram maps. I wonder if it would be possible to upgrade it, to the standard of File:Nansen Fram Map.png? I can give any further information necessary, including the track of another line to indicate Nansen's originally intended journey. It seems to me that this might be a good base. I realise you will be busy at the moment, but please let me know if you can help here. Brianboulton (talk) 22:43, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply and offer to help. I'm sorry about the poor resolution of the present map; my scanner packed up and I had to use the low-quality online version. The map we need doesn't require anything like the same level of detail. The only place names needed are:-
  • On the east coast: Sermilik fjord, Umivik, Cape Farewell
  • On the west coast: Disko Bay, Christianhaab, Gotthaab
We need three lines: one for the actual east-west route taken, between Umivik and Gotthab; one for the originally planned route, between Sermilik and Christianhaab; one for the drift and small boat journey, southward from the area of Sermilik down to the 29 July mark, the upwards along the coast to Umivik
It would help to have the latitude lines for 60, 62, 64 and 66 degrees shown. Otherwise, I don't at this point see a need for more detail, though I'll need to look at the draft map before a final decision.

I really would appreciate it if you can find the time to help with this, which will be a great asset to the article. Brianboulton (talk) 13:11, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

I've replied to your latest on my talkpage, and perhaps it would be easier to hold he conversation there. Brianboulton (talk) 18:25, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Millennium Park FAC2

I apologize for my impatience. I have done a copyedit myself. I still feel pressed by the September 1 FT rule change. You can comment at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Millennium Park/archive2. Feel free to add your name as a co-nom if you want to be involved in the promotion.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 22:58, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

I am not offering an honorary co-nom. When you have been listed as a co-nom you have been quite active in the promotion and I was wondering if you wanted to be so involved in this promotion. If so, add your name to the FAC. You probably deserve it based on text you co-authored that has been copied here, but let me know what role you want in this specific nom.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 04:01, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

If you want to go for Exelon that is fine. I just want to get something in the FAC queue pretty quickly to try to salvage the FT. I am going to need help with the images from someone. My internet connection is out for the weekend. I am subject to availability at my local Borders, Starbucks and McDs. I hope to be up at home on Monday. FAC Backlog

While I can't say anything (and wouldn't) about my active FAC (and this is not a canvassing attempt for that FAC), I would ask that with the recent closing of JonRidinger's Kent, Ohio FAC (which had sat there for almost 2 months), that, if possible, a group of reviewers, admin and others get together and do some review on the current FACs. The FAC page is in serious backlog. I would like to see Jon's Kent FAC reopened, but as the Stones say "you can't always get what you want". I just don't want to see anyone's hard work for for nothing. Again, this is not a canvassing attempt on my FAC, it is for FAC in general. - NeutralhomerTalk03:03, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, you PR'd on the first go around I do believe. I am hanging in there, just worried as I am on the bottom of the list on "new FACs" and about to go into the "old" list. I feel once I get in there, nothing will happen and that worries me....alot. I really don't know what else to do with the article that hasn't been done. - NeutralhomerTalk04:13, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Barnstar thanks, and NRHP question

A belated thanks for the barnstar you gave me for my 350th DYK, especially now that I got another barnstar from someone else for an apparently long-overdue block.

Ruhrfisch, this is continued abuse of content review processes-- moving a hasty FAC to a hasty PR, and then requesting a close of the PR prematurely just allows for a continuation of the same issues occurring at FAC. The image oppose was from Elcobbola-- one of Wiki's finest image reviewers-- and TTT did not seek clarification from ElC before requesting the PR be closed. Add there was no need for the PR to begin with; TTT needs to begin to learn how to resolve his article issues without abusing of so much reviewer time in content review processes. I like all the additions. The Scottish heritage is interesting and helps explain the namme. As far as I know the only places in the general area named "Glens" are Watkins and Ricketts and they both have waterfalls in them. I don't think Scottish Glens are necessarliy homes to waterfalls. It's ready for FAC, but I am not. I will be offline all weekend and will be at Central Oak Heights, Knoebels Grove and the West Branch Susquehanna Valley in general. Dincher (talk) 22:21, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

You are right - glens are not required to have linns, as falls in Scotland are often called, as in Cora Linn and Linn o' Dee. Ben MacDui 08:00, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Microsoft once more

Sorry to bug again; as you previously gave an excellent peer review of Microsoft, is it time to FAR it in your opinion? I addressed most of your comments except the couple noted at Talk:Microsoft/to do regarding culture; the bigger problem though is that compared to current promoted featured articles, I think it might it probably fails 1a - "well-written: its prose is engaging, even brilliant, and of a professional standard". I wouldn't really call it engaging (it's carefully written in a surgical manner in order to be NPOV and avoid edit wars), and I'm totally unsure it is of a professional standard. So, that makes 1a, 1b, and to a very small extent 1c until I rewrite culture. Thanks again. Ryan Norton 01:26, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for your opinion, especially on 1a. Ryan Norton 04:18, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

svg Map use in the "Geobox" template-(ARIZONA)

I have been using the Fix you made for Arizona's map: Template:Geobox locator Arizona svg, and you cannot know how much I appreciated the Fix. I obviously went to Talk:Four Corners Monument because of its "ease of proof" of the problem.

So, I have been updating the articles in Arizona that I have been making, Mountain ranges, Valleys, Washes, etc.

I just looked at the Editting of "Geobox locator Arizona svg" versus, "Geobox loctor Arizona", so I see you had to pull some new numbers from various sources, (then calculate a Ratio?). Anyhow I looked so that I could do New Mexico's, but also Nevada's and California's. I visit Las Vegas (mom lives there), so, (I live in Yuma, AZ) so I have driven up the Lower Colorado River Valley enough to know, and enjoy the landforms. The last trip, I was watching for native trees, flowers; I've done a fair (a Lot, actually) number of the local regional plants, that had not been done in Wikipedia. Saw (1) Desert Willow, in the roadside draw, watercourse, the (Chilopsis linearis). It is a hummingbird loving native tree of the southern Southwest U.S. Anyhow, I'd like some instructions on how to make the associated States to Arizona: Nevada, California, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado, (also Oregon, Washington, Idaho.). I assume you pull the left, right, top and bottom, then do a ratio (by trial and error?).

So, First I want to thank you for the Fix. The other 49 states have some probable misuses in geoboxes. The error is MOST apparent on the edge's of a State. So, Could you assist ME?... Thanx, (from the HOT-Sonoran/Colorado DesertArizona, USA).. Mmcannis (talk) 02:30, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Question

I originally nominated Glee (season 1) for FAC in an attempt to get critical review for the article, for which I have been a minor contributor (Frickative is the most major contributor to the entire Glee section). At the time, I was not aware of the Peer Review process. After withdrawing the nomination within the hour, I was wondering if the withdrawn nom will make it unallowed to submit the article for Peer Review until another 14 days have passed. Dabomb87, whom I asked originally, directed me your way.

My concern is due to the fact that Frickative and I are both reworking sections of the article now, and within a few days she now plans to submit the article for Peer Review. I don't want this to be impossible given my error in choosing where to list it! I believe the article is ready to be a featured article, and just needs a few bumps in any weak areas to get it there, but I simply went one step out of process by not noticing the Peer Review step. =)

(And yes, I'm aware it might be more of a list than an article. This was brought up as well, though I consider it more article than list personally...just a difference of opinion.) CycloneGU (talk) 16:02, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

All right, thanks for the clarification. =)
BTW, thanks for unexpectedly teaching me "Editnotice" on your page; I have learned something useful today and have moved the notice off my physical talk page thanks to that (I think you are now the first seeing my own notice). =D CycloneGU (talk) 18:31, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Allegheny Islands

Have you seen the discussion at the talk page for Allegheny Islands State Park? Also the easy uploader on commons for flickr is not working for me. Is it working for you? All I get to see is something that says "unexpected error" or something like that. Dincher (talk) 23:10, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for checking. The update template has been removed as I am sure you already know. I guess I'll have to keep uploading flickr pics the old fashioned and slow way for now. Thanks for checking the uploader too. Dincher (talk) 00:28, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Quick review University of Texas at Dallas follow-up request

Hi Ruhrfish, Thanks for all your great help! I believe I have corrected the issues on your June, 2010 "Peer review followup" for The University of Texas at Dallas and also made additional improvements to the article. If you have a spare moment could you take another quick look to see just to see how it looks now. I really appreciate your past help which has greatly improved the article.Stan9999 (talk) 18:27, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Help with an out-of-state topic?

Having recently gotten several northwestern Ohio counties' NRHP lists up to fully-illustrated status, I've been working on writing articles about various sites, and I'm currently working on Van Wert County. I'd like to write about the Brumback Library, but there appear to be so many sources about it that I'm somewhat overwhelmed; as you may remember, I generally like writing on subjects about which there aren't tons of sources, as I don't quite have the perseverance to write longer articles like you do. Would you be willing to try to help work on article about it? Among the sources I've found online is this book, most of which is about the Brumback Library. Nyttend (talk) 01:36, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

I can write something as long as George S. Clement House with offline sources, but I just feel bad writing something no longer than that on a topic with so many sources, especially as it's significant for being the oldest county library in the USA. Right now, would you be willing at least to help get it to DYK length if I start it off with something about as long as Bredeick-Lang House? Nyttend (talk) 02:12, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Fridtjof Nansen at PR

This is to let you know that I have nominated Nansen for peer review. I realise that with the backlog, it will have to wait its turn, but I would be very pleased if in due course you are able to comment on it, if only to praise the two splendid maps:) I am also asking Finetooth, who has had useful experience of this sort of article, to look at it. Incidentally, with this off my back at last, coupled with Ealdgyth's return, I really will be able to help tackle the PR backlog. Brianboulton (talk) 23:31, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

User:WithdrawnVTJS/Idscoveri, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:WithdrawnVTJS/Idscoveri and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:WithdrawnVTJS/Idscoveri during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Orange Mike | Talk 01:35, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Re: Congrats!

Thanks! It was a journey, I will tell you that, but it is nearing it's end. Took it to TFA/R yesterday and hope to see it on the front page soon. Over two years was spent on that article, I am quite pleased with how it turned out. I have alot of other related articles lined up, so my work, while over on one article, is beginning on another. So this should be fun. :) Thanks again...NeutralhomerTalk15:28, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

School for Creative and Performing Arts is currently a Featured Article Candidate. Since you have commented on this article in the past, the review may be of interest to you. --Nasty Housecat (talk) 00:44, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Here we go again...

I put the Kent, Ohio back on FAC as the image issue (which as you know I didn't think was an issue at all) was resolved (the seal isn't copyrighted). The review is here and while a few changes were made, it's pretty much the same article it was at the last review. Thanks as always for your time. --JonRidinger (talk) 00:58, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Hopefully you noticed that I replaced the image in question. I basically made a new map using a map from the Census Bureau's 2010 Boundary and Annexation survey as the background and then used the city's ward map as the source for the ward borders. It's in the same file location File:Kent city wards streets.png. Hopefully the rest of the review picks up. User:Nasty Housecat hasn't responded for some time, but in looking at his/her talk page it seems that has happened on other FACs. --JonRidinger (talk) 03:58, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
It seems the last major point with Nasty Housecat is the inclusion of the Kent City Manager's site Kent360.com (which is mainly a blog), as an external link. At the FAC I have explained my reasoning why it fits the main policies of WP:EL and how it's not simply a largely irrelevant personal blog, but wanted to get your thoughts (and anyone else you could think of who would know), when you have a chance. If there's a consensus that it shouldn't be there, then fine, I'll take it out, but in terms of providing relevant external links to help readers get further knowledge, that site to me is very appropriate and a valuable resource for people looking for further info on Kent. It just seems like the blog format bothers some people. --JonRidinger (talk) 06:47, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Townships in Pennsylvania

I am curious: why are you moving townships in pennsylvania from [blank] Township, Pennsylvania to [blank] Township, [blank] County, Pensylvania? Seems to be a bit too specific. ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 17:49, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

That's why we have disambiguration pages. You could just dab the ambiguous ones instead of being overly specific for every one. ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 21:51, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
In the final comment, which seems to be ignored, TJ Spike hit the nail on the head. The whole thing is against naming conventions, unless there are two townships with the same name in Pennsylvania. Also, why did you stop at townships? Why not towns too? ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 23:48, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
Hey, what about McCandless? :) Anyway, I could be shore this violates something in the MOS, but that is such a boring read. I suppose I'll restart discussion on the topic. ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 00:24, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Peer review

Hi Ruhrfisch, thanks for your peer review of Barca, I have since then re-organised the layout and re-written. Could have a quick glance to see if the current format was what you had in mind or is better? Cheers, Sandman888 (talk) Latest PR 12:36, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

It never rains...

I'm afraid that, after tonight, I shall be away for six days, resurfacing Friday next week. I'll do the PR backlog update tonight, but then it will have to be in other hands. Sorry to be away when the backlog is somewhat swollen; I have done several reviews in the past week, and will try to do another before I go, but I also have work to do on source reviews at the FAC page. And Raul has given me an unexpected TFA... I've put Nansen on the back burner, to await my return, though I'll leave the PR page open. Incidentally, I have stopped putting a standard message on PR noms asking nominators to review other articles, since this seemed to annoy more people than it recruited. I hope a few reviewers will emerge in the next few days, to keep the backlog within bounds. Brianboulton (talk) 15:44, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

Ohiopyle timelapse

I just found a timelapse video on flickr for Ohiopyle State Park here. I know we uploaded a video from flickr for the waterfalls at RGSP. Should we upload this too? Do you remember how to do it? Dincher (talk) 03:54, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

I didn't think it was going to be very simple, converting the video that is. I saw the Job Corps Center and it's DYK nom. They both look good. Things are very backed up at DYK now. I think I am going to go over there and review some noms. Dincher (talk) 15:27, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

The timelapse is already up. I think it would be good for the state park article and even maybe the Pennsylvania article. Would lake of RGSP be enough to gain a featured topic status for Ricketts Glen State Park? Dincher (talk) 16:32, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

What do you think about adding the videos to the List of Pennsylvania state parks? --Dincher (talk) 16:43, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
The R. Bruce Ricketts featured topic sounds simpler. Not sure how much I will be able to help either way, so it's up to you. I will have to look at the list. Dincher (talk) 17:18, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
I don't think the videos would fit in the list in it's current format. I vote to leave them out. Dincher (talk) 17:25, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

Longest rivers list

Favor: I've been doodling away at List of longest streams of Oregon for a couple of weeks and moved it to main space today. It's a slightly mad undertaking and may be more trouble than it's worth. A couple of questions it raises are (1) what is the most reliable source, if any such thing exists, for stream lengths and basin sizes, and (2) what is a river? I've raised these issues on the list's talk page. If you have any advice, I'd appreciate having it. Finetooth (talk) 19:50, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks much for your helpful input. The most encouraging thing you said was that you might consider doing something similar for Pennsylvania. When I first started this list and was brimming with enthusiasm, I thought if it worked well I might try doing one for, say, Idaho. Later on I thought, no, maybe not. They would be much easier if a single source could be cited for lots of numbers. Finetooth (talk) 16:20, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Took your advice about the DYK nom. I expanded the lead by one paragraph, and that was more than enough to meet the minimum prose requirement. Finetooth (talk) 23:32, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your peer review; it was very helpful (well, more will be helpful after the merge). Can you please merge the articles and their histories into List of number-one singles from the 2000s (New Zealand)? Thanks again, Adabow (talk · contribs) 05:57, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Christchurch

A while ago you were kind enough to 'peer review' Christchurch, Dorset and I hoped you might have time to take another look at it. I think I have done most of what you suggested but you will notice that some of the references are still in the middle of sentences because different parts of the sentence come from different sources. I have read WP:Cite and I don't think that the sentence is particularly contentious so a combined reference could probably go at the end. Not being very 'computery', I would have difficulty doing this anyway but there is also the added problem that someone else has linked this reference to other sentences (it has little blue a,b,c,d etc alongside). Any help, further suggestions etc would be gratefully received.--Ykraps (talk) 08:12, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for agreeing to take another look. I appear to be the main editor of the article so I don't think it matters much where you post as long as you let me know. Ohio River Trail

Hello,

Re: Ohio River Trail Connection to Pine Creek Rail Trail

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Ohio_River_Trail http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Pine_Creek_Trail

Hi, I removed your see also link to Ohio River Trail from the See also section of Pine Creek Rail Trail as I could see absolutely no connection between the two articles (they are in totally different watersheds and do not and would not connect in any way, that I can see) and I failed to see how the link was justified under WP:See also. If you can explain the connection, please do so on my talk page, Thanks, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 15:45, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Retrieved from "http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:Troiaeye"

Response:

From: See also section [2] "Links included in the "See also" section may be useful for readers seeking to read as much about a topic as possible, including subjects only peripherally related to the one in question."

From the above quote in the "see also" section, it suggests that the Pine Creek is relevant since it is "peripherally" related by topic, classification and region.

The Ohio River Trail is presently on course to connect to Harrisburg and beyond. In addition, the long term plans with respect to greenways development is that all the trails in Pennsylvania will be eventually interconnected.

Also the Ohio River Trail Council sponsors a trip annually to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania and the Pine Creek Trail for both cycling and canoeing. Five bridges across the Schuylkill in Philadelphia. From front to back:Philadelphia & Reading Railroad, Schuylkill River Viaduct; Philadelphia & Reading Railroad, Bridge at West Falls; the Twin Bridges carrying US 1 northbound, and southbound; and Falls Bridge.

I'll give up on the latrine shots, but thought you might be interested in 5 bridges (none on the NRHP!) Smallbones (talk) 04:04, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Nunavut

Hi. Here's a definate request. Can you add File:Nunavut, Canada.svg to the bottom left corner as a window of File:Location map Nunavut.png like File:Canada Ontario location map 2.svg? Dr. Blofeld 12:11, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Wow that was quick! Thanks! Dr. Blofeld 12:50, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you again!! I now have the final two Canadian locator maps, bee waiting years for them!!. Can you do the window with File:Location map Northwest Territories.png and File:Northwest Territories, Canada.svg and File:Location map Yukon.png and File:Yukon, Canada.svg? Thanks!! Dr. Blofeld 13:39, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Png is absolutely fine. I can't make svgs either! Dr. Blofeld 14:05, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Tis perfect amigo. Thanks. If you want me to help out with a GA you are working on give me a bell. I'd be happy to help. Dr. Blofeld 15:02, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Hickory Run State Park

The pics for HRSP are great. I really like the CCC dam. I had to look twice at it. The reflection of the trees in the water is amazing. Makes it look like the waterfall over the dam is appearing magically. Or maybe my eyes are just tired from making a Word web page for the last 4 or 5 hours. Thanks for the congrats on the DYK. Might be the last for awhile. Busy, busy, busy. Dincher (talk) 01:03, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

The pics look good. They really make me want to take a leap! Dincher (talk) 02:31, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Medal of Merit

Thank you very much for the medal of merit. I was not expecting any notice for this particular milestone. I thought maybe 1,000 would call for modest fireworks and a big slice of chocolate cake. This was a nice surprise. Finetooth (talk) 04:20, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

I've counted a few that I've done on article talk pages but none of the FAC reviews. Almost all of them have been PRs. And thanks in advance for taking another look at the list of longest streams. Kmusser (all the missing lengths) and Pfly (all the missing basin sizes) made it possible to have a list with no blank spaces; I have not yet begun to learn anything about GIS software, although I have now downloaded and installed the ArcGISExplorer recommended by Pfly. Mill Creek

Thanks! I thought the creek article came out rather well. Eventually, I will have to look for more information to add (like data on geology or flora/fauna, as recommended by Finetooth). Niagara Don't give up the ship 00:15, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Canfield Island and the Brumback Library

Nice work on the Canfield Island artifacts photo; I've added it to the article myself. Please move it if you think there's a better place for it; I wasn't sure where to put it.

As far as the library — no, the form isn't online, and I don't have it either. Except for NHLs, I don't think that any Ohio forms are online. Sorry that I've not been helping with it at all, but (as maybe you saw; I don't know) I've begun grad school at Indiana University (not IUP :-), but I would have done grad school in western Pennsylvania if I could have. Nyttend (talk) 04:58, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the help. As you can see, I was falling asleep when I wrote the note above :-) Nyttend (talk) 13:58, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Sand Bridge State Park

I like the idea of modifying VDan's list and already did it for AISP and SBSP. I changed it to Pano, but I think I will change it back to P. We could add some general history to Sand Bridge to make room for the panorama. The general histories that are already up on the featured articles would be a good start. What do you think? Dincher (talk) 22:00, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Sounds like a good plan. I am writing a paper tonight, but I should be able to do some work tomorrow at "work". Dincher (talk) 21:33, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Do you want to expand it in user space or in the article? I can go either way. Dincher (talk) 20:50, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Seems like the safest bet will be user space. I have real work to do. Tonight I am taking a break. I will move it to user space in a jiff. Dincher (talk) 21:07, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
Can it be in an existing user space page or should it be a new one?Dincher (talk) 21:10, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
Okay. I will make the user page now. The attendance figures came from one of only three news articles I found on the google news archives and the only free one. (For Sand Bridge State Park). Dincher (talk) 21:19, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

The quest to find sources for Sand Bridge State Park hasn't been very fruitful. Dincher (talk) 00:25, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

What? you too! busy, busy, busy. Dincher (talk) 20:15, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

I think that since we got Upper Pine Bottom State Park to FA, getting Sand Bridge to FA might be doable. I put in a request to Mitch the road guy about history of PA 192, but haven't heard back. Dincher (talk) 19:33, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

This is a guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if that cabin across the highway from the entrance was a one point the location of a mill and or tavern. I know there was a tavern at R. B. Winter, that's where the name "Halfway" comes from. I would also bet that an Indian trail passed through there too since it's on the edge of the Buffalo Valley. I don't think much of this is online. Maybe at the library at Bucknell? Dincher (talk) 21:47, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Possible protection

Hey Ruhrfisch- We may need some article protection at the Hudson High School (Hudson, Ohio) article. There is an anonymous editor (69.244.213.131 (talk · contribs)) bent on inserting the name of a non-notable individual (I'd guess it is the actual person or is closely connected to them) and has reverted my removal and the repeated removals of another established, reliable user (SuperHamster (talk · contribs)). Attempts to discuss it by the other editor at the IP's talk page have been ignored by the IP. --JonRidinger (talk) 01:16, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Just for the sake of information, I've left a message on the anonymous user's talk page warning and informing them of their engagement of edit warring without any attempt to discuss their edits whatsoever, along with notifying them of the three-revert rule. ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 01:25, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Isles of Scilly

Hi, there is a valid complaint over the Isles of Scilly articles as it lacks a decent map showing location. Can you use File:British Isles.svg and draw a box in black or red around the islands location to the southwest of the picture? Dr. Blofeld 11:00, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

That's great, thanks. Dr. Blofeld 07:56, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Undoing a bunch of POV edits

Someone at address 69.3.72.249 (see around 17:08 on September 18th) has made a bunch of edits linking "hog farm" to intensive pig farming. In the places I checked "hog farm" was used in a neutral fashion not deserving of a link to factory farming. I undid a couple of these but then saw that there are a bunch more to do. Is there a way to back out the edits in an automated fashion? --Beirne (talk) 03:54, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

User:Beirne disputes the neutrality of the article Intensive pig farming; I suggest User:Beirne deal with that issue directly rather than reverting links to the article. If User:Beirne cannot decide what kind of hog farm is being referred to, I suggest that User:Beirne link to the disambiguation page Hog farm and use the tag {{tl:dn}}. If there is an easy automated way to change links, I'd like to know about it too so I can apply links faster and easier. Thanks! 69.3.72.249 (talk) 14:50, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
I don't dispute the neutrality of the article Intensive pig farming, I dispute linking the neutral words "hog farm" to it when hog farm is used in a neutral fashion that may well have nothing to do with factory farming. I could have linked the articles to something more neutral, but I don't even have time to revert all the changes. Taking away the links to Intensive pig farming is still an improvement, though, as it takes away the inference that the people in the article were practicing factory farming techniques. --Beirne (talk) 16:51, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
I think Pig farming is a better link in many cases. I of course reverted one case that actually used that (sorry), but adding links to Intensive pig farming in articles link Manzanar, where it was definitely not practiced, is not only not helpful, but wrong. I think the average reader understands what the words "hog farm" mean too - is a link really needed in many cases - see also WP:OVERLINK. 69.3.72.249 - the only tool I know is WP:AWB but I think that is only available to registered users and not IP address users. I also think something like this should be linked on a case by case basis, not semi-automatically. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 21:43, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Thank you very much. Yes, any that you do will be appreciated. I was planning to proceed methodically, but as you have seen, that has proved difficult. I had thought of just doing one-liners; i.e., X is a stream in Oregon. That seemed a bit too cynical. Your Butter Creek article looks fine. I have one started for Rock Creek (John Day River); I'll go ahead and publish it this evening; so that's another one done. Finetooth (talk) 02:02, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. I published Rock Creek (John Day River) just now and added some info to what I'd already done. I'll lop the coords out of my main text too. I only bothered with the geobox because I had already created it in my sandbox and had filled in much of the data. It'll probably go faster if we skip the geoboxes, but they are nice if you want to do them. I'll do West Little Owyhee River next; I thought I should mention this lest we both do the same one simultaneously. Finetooth (talk) 02:43, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Much appreciated. Don't stay up late. I think things are now well in hand. Finetooth (talk) 02:51, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

I suppose the FAC went on for a little long after all, seeing it archived a few hours after you mentioned it. I'd like to ask if you could see if what I addressed before the closure was fine. I'll work on whatever is left in the coming week or so. Thanks for the thorough reviews; I couldn't of have asked for much more. EricLeb01 (Page | Talk) 04:00, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Another opera

I've been toiling away on L'Orfeo, to complete the Monteverdi trilogy of operas, and it's now at peer review. I am soliciting reviews from Opera Project people, but I'm equally keen to have the benefit of the views of non-opera people, so I'd be very grateful if you could give it a looking-over (Wehwalt has just weighed in with some comments). It will be at PR for another week, so it's not pressing. On the general matter of keeping the PR backlog down, I am managing to do a few reviews, but the other sources reviewers at FAC seem to have gone AWOL so I'm having to spend a lot of time there. However, now that L'Orfeo is finished, I should have a bit more time. Brianboulton (talk) 23:27, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Joe always gets lots of vandalism during football season. Could you add him to your watch list? Or I could just keep telling you about the nastiness. Would you like to write an article for the fossil and get a tag team double DYK? I could give it a try, but that type of stuff just sails right over my head. Pine Creek news?

Hey, long time no talk. Things are busy here with me as usual. I just heard an interesting rumor on a hike tonight; a couple who owns a property on the Pine Creek Rail Trail was rather agitated because, according to them, rail will be re-laid on the trail to support movements of fracking supplies. I can't confirm through any alternate sources, though--heard anything about this in your neck of the woods? Choess (talk) 05:37, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

River in Indiana

I am working on Deam Lake State Recreation Area in Clark County, Indiana. A source tells me that Deam Lake is on Big Run which is a tributary of the Muddy Fork River. I can't confirm this anywhere else. I have looked and looked at maps of the area and cannot find the name of the stream. If you have the time could you take a look? Admin action required?

I'm not sure how to deal with this, but an editor has misguidedly moved Cosmo Gordon Lang to Cosmo Lang on the grounds that the the middle name is "extraneous" (see his edit summary, no talkpage discussion). This editors seems unaware that Scotsmen in particular (and some others, e.g. George Bernard Shaw) often retain their middle names for public use (John Stuart Mill, John Logie Baird, William Speirs Bruce are obvious examples – it would be absurd to move, fo example, to "John Mill"). I believe that the former name should be restored, but I am not sure that this can be done by a simple reversion. Can you advise a course of action? Do chinchillas like Burger King?

I don't know but a GAR reviewer didn't. He delisted it on the middle of a major revision, I had just spun off a section into its own article and had not gotten back to redo the section to properly summarize the new article. On top of that a whole bunch of tags mysteriously appeared a couple of days prior.

I did some work on it since then, but I need a PR on it before I resubmit it for GA status. Would you be so kind as to look at this, your contribs to the Burger King products article allowed me to get it to the point where it is ready to submit for a GA review. --Jeremy (blah blahI did it!) 17:14, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
