Mass creation of redirects for misspelled names of cities/countries

[edit]

Hello! I recently noticed that you are mass creating redirects for country/city names where they are misspelled. Please keep in mind that these sorts of typos should be plausible and likely misspellings; not every misspelling qualifies for a redirect.

Happy editing!

Red-tailed hawk (nest) 02:26, 30 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Raynore329 — can you please stop creating these redirects? A lot of them (e.g. Austaralia) are completely implausible. You're just wasting your own time. C F A 22:20, 30 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Google them to see if they are plausible

[edit]

Well, google search "Austaralia" with both the quotation marks and misspelling. You will see that there are many terms misspelling Australia. Same with the other redirects. Raynore329 (talk) 22:25, 30 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Mairio

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Mairio requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of Qoute

[edit]

Hello Raynore329,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Qoute for deletion, because it's a redirect that seems implausible or is an unlikely search term.

If you don't want Qoute to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Mass creation of implausible redirects

[edit]

Two experienced users have already asked you to stop creating all of these implausible redirects. In a moment I am going to delete a number of them, under speedy deletion criterion R3, which covers recently created redirects from implausible typos or misnomers. Please stop creating these redirects. If you continue to do so, I will have to block you from creating new pages. There are many much more useful things to do on Wikipedia. Please see the Wikipedia:Task center or Wikipedia:Backlog. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 03:07, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to second this, as I also noticed these implausible redirects. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 03:31, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect listed at Redirects for discussion

[edit]

A redirect or redirects you have created has been listed at redirects for discussion to determine whether its use and function meets the redirect guidelines. Anyone, including you, is welcome to comment on this redirect at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2025 January 1 § FirstName LastInitial redirects for presidents until a consensus is reached. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 03:49, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Misspellings ending in -ion

[edit]

Well since the letter i in the suffix ion is silent, people who hear this word can misspell it, such as distributon. And besides, I've seen lots of people misspell such words without the i in ion. Raynore329 (talk) 05:16, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I did not see any reasonable likelihood that any of the -on redirects would survive a discussion at WP:RfD. I did note in my edit summaries that if any other editor sees them as useful, I don't object to recreation, since a page that someone other than the creator thinks is useful to the encyclopedia shouldn't be speedily deleted. But if you would like to challenge the deletions, you are welcome to. Please see Wikipedia:Deletion review. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 05:33, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Equiptment

[edit]

=== In https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Commonly_misspelled_English_words, === It lists that equiptment is a common misspelling, so this redirect is to be restored. Raynore329 (talk) 05:52, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, fair point on that one. I see CFA has recreated it. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 06:35, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

After my and Clovermoss's warnings above, and previous requests from Red-tailed hawk and CFA, you've created 8 more R3able redirects (and a few more only-barely-useful ones).
