The Admin's Barnstar | ||

Marc Y Chenevert
Hello I noticed that you had added a category to my article Marc Y. Chenevert. I have been targeted by another editor that first didnt like how the copyright on my photos of the article was verified. I addressed that and they have been corrected and then he added a do not move banner to them for a watermark. Once that was all corrected he has now moved on to my article and has decided that I have some connection with the subject and when I addressed that he then added a number or tags and decided that if there were no discussion on the subject that that he would nominate the article for deletion. I think this would be a terrible loss as the subject person is very notable. Would you mind to join in on this discussion and see what you think about the issues that he LGA has brought up? Thanks so much. Mmb777e (talk) 12:56, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
- The main problem I see with the article is that the only sources cited (except for a newspaper article describing one specific incident in his life) are Chenevert's own autobiography and his other published works. If he is, in fact, a "noted" aviation artist, then presumably someone other than himself has discussed his works in some published source. Adding citations to such sources should resolve most concerns over the issues raised by LGA. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 14:08, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
Are double redirects still being fixed by bots?
I've noticed that the redirect bots are working a lot more slowly than usual, if they are working at all. This could become extremely problematic in the event of page moves when disambiguation pages are created. --Jax 0677 (talk) 17:24, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- It seems that Special:DoubleRedirects has not been updated since 10 September, and I don't have any idea why that is the case. However, bot operators can work around this if they know what they're doing. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 18:09, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- Reply - Do you know why it has not been updated? --Jax 0677 (talk) 18:25, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
- No, as I said above, I don't have any idea. You might want to ask on WP:VPT. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 19:16, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Fixing double redirects with section targets
The bot normal does an excellent job (well done) but it's just corrupted a few dozen of my links that I needed to fix by hand. The bot wanted to change a double redirect to a single redirect. I agree with that but it also dropped off the sectional target (ie the bit after #), which I want to keep. Eg, in [1] it changed
#redirect Toyota concept vehicles, 1990-1999#AXV-III
to#REDIRECT Toyota concept vehicles, 1990–99
when it would have been much better to change it to#REDIRECT Toyota concept vehicles, 1990–99#AXV-III
I can fix the redirects this time but is there any chance of updating the bot to keep the sectional tags in the future? Thanks. Stepho talk 23:15, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
- I'll look into it. This is a standard Pywikibot framework script, so I'm not sure how flexible other users would be about changes. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 11:32, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. It took me an hour to correct the links. Stepho talk 11:57, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Renaming articles and redirects LOSE anchors
I'm glad this BOT can update double-redirect on renamed articles, but I WISH it would append the anchors (section headers) also. Currently it is removing the anchors which is A LOT of work to fix! Tom Ruen (talk) 18:34, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
- p.s. It seems to be correctly adding anchors now. Tom Ruen (talk) 05:30, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
TWODABS report?
Hey bud, I need to get a grasp on just how big the WP:TWODABS issue really is. Can you whip up a report of all disambiguation pages that have only two links on the page? I realize we'll miss a lot of pages with non-matching links in see also sections, so the ideal would be to ignore those, but I'll try to avoid asking the impossible. Cheers! bd2412 T 23:51, 27 September 2013 (UTC)
- OK, it may take a few days for me to get to it. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 11:33, 28 September 2013 (UTC)
- No problem - this will be a slow matter to deal with all around. By the way, as long as I'm asking you to do this, could you also report the number of incoming links to each TWODABS page? Ignore this part if it complicates things too much. Cheers! bd2412 T 19:52, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
- You may not believe this, but User:RussBot/Two-link disambiguation pages/001 is the beginning of a list of over 43,000 pages. That is, out of 235,400 total disambiguation pages, almost 20% contain only two (or fewer) links. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 15:52, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
- Nope, I believe it. Thanks for the report! bd2412 T 16:35, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
- FYI, I re-ran the report. The pages with * after them only link to one article. If there are disambig pages with zero links to articles, I probably haven't caught them; that will require some changes to the database query. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 23:35, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello R'n'B. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Category:1203 in Europe, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Category is not empty. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 02:05, 5 October 2013 (UTC)
Overlinking
Hi, thanks for your work on WP. I noticed that you relinked "English". Perhaps you might consider avoiding the linking of that and other common-term items, per the guidelines, unless there's a particular reason for linking. Thanks. Tony (talk) 09:47, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
- Um, no, I didn't "relink" it; I just changed the target of an existing link. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 09:51, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
Hyderabad not a disambig page
Hi, in this edit by RussBot, Hyderabad was changed back to Hyderabad, India, but Hyderabad is no longer a dab page. Is there somewhere where RussBot can be updated about this link? Thanks, Funandtrvl (talk) 21:10, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
- Fixed, thanks for the heads-up. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 21:36, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Russ; you undid a couple of my edits here, but i'm not sure why. I thought i merely followed the example of such pages as Brad and Dolly and Jamaal in the categories i added. In what way is Myung-hwan not a disambig page? Sign me ~ Always Willing to Learn, Lindsay, 04:10, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- Hello, Lindsay. Pages that only contain a list of people sharing the same first or last name are not considered disambiguation pages; this is discussed at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages)#Given names or surnames. Jamaal falls into this category and should not have been marked as a disambiguation page. Brad and Dolly, on the other hand, contain links to a number of topics other than personal names, although both of them probably ought to be split based upon the MOS guidelines. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 13:01, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you; that makes sense, in a couple of ways. I've spent a little time disambigging(?) pages now and again, but i didn't remember coming across a given-name one previously, so i was a tad surprised when i bumped into Myung-hwan. In addition, the pointer to the MOS is clear and obvious; hard to imagine why i didn't go there first of all to look. See you around. Cheers, LindsayHello 19:01, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
Iwan Ries and Co.
What were you trying to do with [2]? The page you linked to doesn't exist and never has. Jackmcbarn (talk) 17:04, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I might just as well ask you what you were trying to do with your edit; the page you linked to, Edward Hoffman, does not contain any information that is even remotely relevant to a reader who follows the link from Iwan Ries and Co. Which is worse -- a link to a page that does not exist, or a link to a page that exists but is completely unhelpful? Hint -- see WP:REDLINK before you answer that. However, if you think there is no possibility that an article will ever be written about the individual who founded the tobacco shop, then you could simply remove the brackets altogether. (Edit: oh, I see you have done that already.) --R'n'B (call me Russ) 18:35, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
Nationalisms and Regionalisms of Spain
RE your edit on Nationalisms and Regionalisms of Spain of early October ([3]), you asked which CIS was the source of a previous edit. Hi mate, I split some of the content from the old article Consistory (since turned into a disambig). In the meantime, you fixed a whole bunch of links so that they pointed to College of Cardinals. Any chance you could go back and change them to Papal consistory (the new article)? I've tried to do some manually but I assume you used a bot or something for yours? Cheers, Stalwart111 08:01, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not sure this is going to be so easy to fix. This would not have happened if (a) you had added a link to Papal consistory to the disambiguation page, and/or (b) paid attention to WP:FIXDABLINKS and fixed all the links at the same time you created the disambiguation page. I am not a mind-reader and did not know that you had moved the content to a new article. You left behind a mess and I did the best I could to try to clean it up. If I can undo the edits made over the past couple of days, I will, but it is going to take some thought. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 11:43, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
- EDIT: Sorry, I see it was actually @Jfhutson who created the disambiguation page and left the mess behind. I shouldn't have assumed it was you. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 12:12, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
- No problem! (Well I hope not anyway). Jfhutson was cleaning up a problematic article that was a grab-bag of unsourced OR. When he cleaned it up, no new article existed - I created it after he turned the article into a disambig with the best link available. I had been meaning to create the new article for a while. Sorry if the order of things created issues. But thanks, also, for doing what you can to fix the links. Much appreciated. Though the current setup might take some cleaning, the end result is a proper disambig and a better article (perhaps several better articles). Again, thanks! Stalwart111 14:11, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
Dab Challenge - November
Something seems to go wrong in the calculation of time since the last update:
- The current time is November 3, 2013, 10:08 UTC. Replication lag is 1 second.
- This page is updated hourly; the last update completed 16012 days 10 hours 8 minutes ago
Just a cosmetic problem though. -- (talk) 10:20, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
- Fixed now. I knew something would go wrong. :-) The problem was that I hadn't properly planned for the contingency that the hourly DAB Challenge update might take more than an hour to complete. It's odd; almost all the scripts are running much faster on Labs than they did on Toolserver, except for the DAB Challenge update, which seems to be running slower. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 15:33, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

When you get a chance...
I see that you're quite busy now, and this is no rush at all, but when you get a chance, can you cook up a list of pages containing dn templates, but no disambiguation links? Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but there are false positives where the disambiguation link is a redirect, like in (R)evolution: The Remixes. I can work around this, though. Just thought you would want to know. Cheers! bd2412 T 14:12, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

- By the way, on another front, is it possible to do a one-day disambiguation contest count? I think that could stoke some extra interest in fixing these links. Cheers again! bd2412 T 01:57, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
- I suppose so, but you'd probably have to ask JaGa, since he wrote the scripts. It would take me a lot longer to figure it out than for him to tell you the answer. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 14:53, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

Lakas CMD articles
There's a massive problem here, but the templates were supposedly working fine until the two articles were renamed unilaterally. Also, only the Lakas-Kampi-CMD and Lakas-CMD templates redirect to the present day party while the rest (Lakas-NUCD, Lakas-NUCD-UMDP and Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats) all redirected to the old one. –HTD 14:54, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

I saw that you took care of that one. I was thinking that it's a bit WP:DABCONCEPTy, since an adductor muscle can be described as any muscle that contracts towards the lateral center line of the body. What do you think? By the way, we should get together for lunch sometime - maybe in January. I'm working in the NoVa region now. Cheers! bd2412 T 20:07, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Update
Well, I've loaded the ch_procs.php code with debug logging, and it looks like the network problems was a red herring. The problem seems to be that the database queries called from within a PHP function are slow. Not terribly slow, mind you - it may take 0.1 seconds to find out that a single fixed dab is in the cache - but cumulatively, this adds up to very slow performance.
I'm going to refactor create_results_list() to take out cache-checking code and move it into the stored procedures. This method will never be fast but I think I can significantly improve it.
I haven't looked at the dab_procs method yet. I'm concerned there may be less opportunities for optimization, but we'll see. First we have to see if this works for ch_procs.
I'm going to shut down the hourly updates to the contest while I work on this. --JaGatalk 20:15, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
RussBot mistakes
Hello,
The RussBot on wikimedia is constantly switching the categories of certain images into erroneous ones. Specifically, I'm referring to these:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Vormela_ear_nose_%26_paws.png https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Smoothotterfeet.png https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Minkpaws.png https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Martesflavigulapaws.png https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Clawlessotterfeet.png https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Eurootterfeet.png https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Eurootterpaws2.png
Basically, all these animals are of the Mustelidae family, yet the bot keeps categorizing them as Felidae, despite my repeated attempts at reverting the edits.
Thanks in advance. Mariomassone (talk) 11:50, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
- It's not the bot's fault. You are trying to put these files into commons:Category:Mustelidae paws. As you can see if you follow that link, that category is redirected to commons:Category:Felidae paws and claws. The bot didn't put the redirect there; a Commons user did. If you think the category shouldn't be redirected, you can revert it and/or discuss it with the other involved user. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 12:10, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

RussBot breaking links when fixing dbl rd's
Hi,
I suspect this has probably happened hundreds of times, but I just noticed it now. I will often move a page without many incoming links, knowing that a bot will soon come along to fix the rd. However, RussBot does a poor job of this. I just noticed this[5] edit. The link was to List of unclassified languages of South America#Yampará, but RussBot dropped the anchor. Same happened w Yaperú language. — kwami (talk) 01:14, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Can you give me some more information (such as a copy-and-paste of the item you saw)? --R'n'B (call me Russ) 14:24, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. It was here: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Peterthorn79/sandbox I was trying to create an article. I had it rejected due to lack of references. So I beefed it up, and sent for 'approval'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.168.153.242 (talk) 12:06, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- OK. First of all, a tip. When you want to link to an article in Wikipedia, don't copy the URL. Instead, just put the title of the article inside double brackets like these. That gives you a link that looks like User:Peterthorn79/sandbox.
- Now, what happened was that you created a page at that title, but it was moved back in June to a new title in the "Articles for Creation" series. The old title was left as a redirect to the new one. But on December 9, you moved the page again to yet another title that was technically incorrect; it started with "Wikipedia:" when it was supposed to start with "Wikipedia talk:". Another administrator moved it back to the correct title on Dec. 12, but during that three-day interval a bot came along and fixed User:Peterthorn79/sandbox so that it redirected to the new title you had given the page. So, when the incorrect title you created was reverted, that left the sandbox page redirecting to nothing. And then I saw an invalid redirect and deleted it, not being aware of all this history at the time.
- A very long technical explanation, I know, which boils down to: all that I deleted was a redirect, not the article, and if you want that redirect restored, I'd be happy to do it; just let me know. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 22:57, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Jeonnam Dragons player
Hi, There was a mistake. You have to move like this ---- Category:Chunnam Dragons players => Categroy:Jeonnam Dragons players. But You moved Category:Chunnam Dragons players => Category:Jeonnam Dragons players. Please move contents again. ThanksFootwiks (talk) 12:07, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- First, I didn't put the Category redirect template on Category:Chunnam Dragons players. You did. The bot just does what the template tells it to do. Second, the only difference between the two sentences you typed above is that "Categroy" is a misspelling; otherwise, the two titles you wrote are exactly the same. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 12:54, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
- OK, I made a mistake...I put the templeate again. Please command transfer to the bot again. Footwiks (talk) 06:35, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
- You put the template where? The original category page has been deleted. Anyway, the bot processes category redirects automatically (it is a bot, after all), so there is nothing for me to command. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 10:41, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
- OK, from looking at the bot's log, I see that you added a template redirecting Category:Jeonnam Dragons to Category:Jeonnam Dragons players. That almost certainly will not work as you intended; it will move everything, including subcategories, from the first category to the second one. If you only want to move the articles about the players, you are going to have to do that manually. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 11:13, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
- Please move all artilces from Category:Jeonnam Dragons to Category:Jeonnam Draogns players. then, I will manually arragne the articles again. I think this is only solution. players articles are too many. I think that you understand what I mean.
- I put other the trasfer templates. Please move all aticles agian.
- OK, I made a mistake...I put the templeate again. Please command transfer to the bot again. Footwiks (talk) 06:35, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Queen of the Desert
Hello, in 2006 you made a redirect for Queen of the Desert to The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert but now Werner Herzog is currently shooting a film also titled Queen of the Desert (film) with Nicole Kidman. I just wanted to know will it be alright if instead of redirecting, Queen of the Desert page work as disambiguation page and show both films so whoever is searching or looking for them can easily find it.--Jockzain (talk) 18:55, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, but... It seems unlikely that either of the two films is likely to meet the qualifications as a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC in the near term, so a disambiguation page is acceptable. But before you do that, please be sure that all existing links in other articles to Queen of the Desert are fixed to point to the correct article. [That should be pretty easy, since there don't seem to be any such links.] Thanks. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 18:58, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying me and explaining about things. I made the disambiguation page, regards--Jockzain (talk) 19:18, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
Strange RussBot edits on Commons.
Hi,
Your bot is making strange changes to categories of pictures on Commons: See for example: [6]. There are more such strange changes of the categories on Commons made by this bot. Polimerek (talk) 18:56, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
- Why do you think it is strange? The image was in commons:Category:Wystawa. That category page contains a category redirect template redirecting it to commons:Category:Elżbieta Chodorowska. So the bot moves any files placed in the redirected category into the target category. That is what it is supposed to do.
- The bot did not put the category redirect template on commons:Category:Wystawa; a Commons user did. The bot does not create any category redirects, nor does it have any way of determining whether they are "strange" or not; that has to be done by humans. The bot does not recategorize pages for seven days after an edit to a redirected category, to allow time for other users to review the change and discuss it if necessary. In this case, though, the redirect has been in place and untouched for about six months. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 20:40, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

An improvement?
You changed a direct from Improve to a dab page from a wikitionary emendment definition. The word "Improve" seems awfully close to a dictionary and not very encyclopedic, IMO. Redirecting to a dab page doesn't seem that helpful, again, IMO. Student7 (talk) 01:57, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
- In my opinion, the redirect to the dictionary definition of "emendment" was even less helpful. There are no Wikipedia articles with links to improve, so I think the discussion is largely academic; but, if someone does search for the word, the disambiguation page may at least help them find some relevant article. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 11:21, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
- Frankly, the disambig page strikes me as a bit DABCONCEPT-y. I think it should be possible to write an article on the broad concept of improvement. bd2412 T 14:01, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
- I have started Draft:Improvement. bd2412 T 20:39, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
- For context, I had written elsewhere: "I recall The Promise (Potok novel) where the protagonist, struggling to become an Orthodox rabbi, is tested as he is about to graduate. He emends a translation, absolutely forbidden by fundamental Orthodoxy, in one of the climaxes of the novel. The emendation resulting from the passage making absolutely no sense otherwise (from his pov, obviously, not from the pov of the rabbinical school!)."
- In the article, this was directed to "improve" which wasn't quite right. If I emend the Bill of Rights about the Right to Bear Arms and I am against it, I would boldface militia. From my pov, that would "improve" it. If I were in favor of everybody carrying a gun anywhere, I would add the phrase afterwards saying that "of course, everybody was in the militia." Both are emendments, of sorts. Not sure either is an "improvement." (And, yes, the discussion works better when you're translating from a ancient foreign language, and you're changing one similarly looking letter to another). Student7 (talk) 20:24, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
Discuss where?
Hello! Where do you suggest we discuss this? Three kings of Sweden have been called "Gustavus Adolphus" and one university. Wouldn't it serve our readers much better to have that redirect when someone looks for that name? --SergeWoodzing (talk) 23:01, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
- We could discuss it on Talk:Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden. We already are serving our readers by making sure that links to those other topics you mentioned appear in hatnotes at the very top of the article. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 00:39, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

Caroline Klebl article
You added citation needed under several paragraphs under the intro to yoga section that was cited with the Layoga magazine witch is citation number 1. Is this not an ok citation or is the format wrong?
Nerdypunkkid (talk) 20:23, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- I guess that is OK. I am always very cautious when I see an article saying that a person "wanted" something or otherwise attributing particular thoughts or opinions to them. We need to have a source that very specifically supports that attribution. But in this case, it looks like these statements are based on direct quotes in the magazine article. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 20:50, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
I'll be carefull how I state things in Wikipedia and make changes as needed. Does every where that it says citation needed needs to be cited with Layoga or does not citation is good for the entire paragraph.
Can you or can I remover the citation needed
Nerdypunkkid (talk) 21:24, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- You can remove them. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 22:23, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
I am a bit confused there a tab on the article saying there some problems.
- It's an orphan
- It might not meet notability criteria
Orphan Its says its an orphan but I linked the articles to other wiki articles as well as put it into several catagories. How do i fix this?
Notability Its says it might not meet notability, But i have sources that are from outside the yoga field and if you goto the talk section there a tab that says its within the scope of bio ... What can i do to fix all of this
Nerdypunkkid (talk) 18:30, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- "Orphan" means that other articles don't link to this one, it has nothing to do with the links or categories contained in this article.
- Notability can be removed if you are confident that sufficient sources have been provided.
- You can edit the article yourself. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 20:21, 14 February 2014 (UTC)

Proposed tweak to the monthly DAB contest list.
Would it be possible going forward to mark entries on the monthly DAB contest list that are carry-overs from previous months? Specifically, if an entry on the list was also there the previous month, mark it with a star (), for two or three months, two or three stars ( or ), or perhaps different sized stars (, , ), and for more than three months, the rotating star of perpetual irritation (). That will highlight some of the more problematic disambig issue. Cheers! bd2412 T 16:51, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- It should be possible. It'll take a little thought to determine how easy or hard it is. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 20:51, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Harry Maxwell
Hi R'n'B,
I would like to re-create the page for Harry Maxwell. I noticed you deleted it in January 2014 - citing the reason that the page has re-appeared despite being similar to a previous version.
I would like to re-create the article with the focus on Maxwell as a New Media Journalist and former Reality TV personality, rather than the latter being the focus.
I believe the page is justified under: Widely recognized entertainment personalities and opinion makers, and I have enough sources from national media outlets to justify him as high profile: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Who_is_a_low_profile_individual
Do you think I should go ahead and submit the article for creation?

Usnu
Hi, the basic article about usnus ought to be moved from Ushnu to Usnu. I thought the people who are working on the article might want to do that. But I did not expect a quick solution, so I put a redirect. It is great that you realized it. See you. -- CaTi0604 (talk) 14:56, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but I've had to decline the seemingly reasonable BLPPROD on this article. The narrow restrictions on the placement of BLPPROD preclude even links to self-published sources. (Complaints on that standard can be lodged at WT:BLPPROD, I've done what I can.) I'd recommend AfD at this point. Thanks for understanding. --j⚛e deckertalk 18:26, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
- OK, I'm not going to get into a debate about the standard, as absurd as it seems in this particular case. Do you think the article is still eligible for a regular PROD, or only AFD? --R'n'B (call me Russ) 19:58, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
Hi. Technically, linking to a disambig page that includes the original target of the redirect is NOT breaking it... And why are you so sure that all the incoming links are meant for bourgeoisie and not any of the other ~20 meanings? For instance, from Coco_Chanel#Established_couturi.C3.A8re i wanted to find out more about the Burgeois (fashion) House, only to see generics about some social term that i've learned about in history class... But i'm sorry that i missed the Redirect in there. -- Jokes Free4Me (talk) 15:41, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not sure that all the incoming links are meant for bourgeoisie; people make mistakes all the time, and I'd actually be fairly surprised if there weren't any here. But I do feel confident that the large majority of the links are intended for that page, since the redirect has been in place for 11 full years. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 22:29, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

Please acquaint yourself with the extensive literature on nonacquiescence (just run it through Google Books, this is a major issue well-known to all attorneys who regularly litigate in federal courts)
I am assembling further references in support of restoring that point shortly. It would have been much more courteous if you had raised the issue on the talk page first. --Coolcaesar (talk) 02:02, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
- I am aware of the issue of nonacquiescence, but I think the way you described it was incomplete and misleading. I look forward to your revised version. I did not intend any discourtesy; reverting unreferenced insertions is a common practice on Wikipedia. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 13:47, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
- Also, that link to Just Say No went to the article on Nancy Reagan's anti-drug program, which has nothing to do with nonacquiescence. I'm sure you can understand how that would look a bit questionable. bd2412 T 16:56, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of article for Rongxiang Xu
I have been asked to find out more as to why Rongxiang Xu's article was deleted on Feb. 14, 2014 and what could be done to have it "undeleted." I do believe that there is at least one reliable source within the article, and therefore, may warrant further editing, but not deletion. Any guidance or information would be much appreciated. (Forgive me as this the first time I am using Wikipedia talk.) Waverider76 (talk) 19:59, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- The article Rongxiang Xu was moved by User:Stuartyeates at 22:53, November 19, 2013 to the title Rong Xiang Xu. Moving an article automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new one. The article was then deleted at 18:03, February 12, 2014 by User:Sphilbrick pursuant to the policy discussed at WP:PROD. Finally, on February 14, 2014, I deleted the original redirect as routine clean-up, since it was now a redirect to nothing. Bill Hill
Thanks for the reply. I don't really think it is a question of DAB only that the bookmaker should be at primary and the person who founded it should then be secondary, which can of course go via WP:TWODABS. But I think the company should be at primary, what do you think? Si Trew (talk) 21:08, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- So, right now, the article about the company is titled William Hill (bookmaker) and the article about the person who founded the company is titled William Hill (businessman). I don't have any big problem with either of those. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 00:20, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, probably best to let it stand. I would have thought that most people in the UK would think of William Hill as the chain of bookmakers, but that is probably not very WP:WORLDWIDE and since it's kinda settled it is probably best to leave it where it stands.
