Swedish magazine LEVEL

Good morning (think other time of the day if applicable) ProtoDrake! I'm an editor who works on and off around the WP:VG project on underdeveloped or underpolished articles, with a particular interest in Japanese games and especially the works of JRPG development houses. I happened to notice that for the wiki entry on Tales of Phantasia you worked in an interesting tidbit of information citing an article about Square Enix from the September 2009 issue of the Swedish magazine LEVEL, which seems to be a source of valuable details on the company's history. As it happens, I'm an enthusiast of the (sadly) defunct magazine and am interested in using any available material from the journal for the cause of improving video game articles. Therefore, I wonder if you would be willing to share scans of the Square Enix interview by Fredrik Schaufelberger (provided that you still possess the relevant journal). @Electroguv: I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I don't have the scans nor can I point you in the right direction. I found that reference on the article for Namco Tales Studio, assumed good faith and used it in the article along with references used in the Japanese Wikipedia page. When I did that rewrite for Tales of Phantasia, I wasn't as good or thorough with references as I am now. Chocobo

Hey, amazing work helping Wikiproject Square Enix be the best project on Wikipedia! While you push our content to GA and beyond, I have taken it upon myself to bring the bottom up,; making sure everything is at least C, and no cleanup tags. With that in mind, I was wondering if you could help me find anything related to the creation of the Chocobo, it’s design, origin, personality, etc. Someone slapped some cleanup tags on the section, and I realized it is already quite small. @Judgesurreal777: Found a bunch of references surrounding its creation, some of its evolution, stuff from Uematsu about its musical theme, and it should be simple to find other bits. The article needs rewriting, and the Edge thing is extremely dubious (no direct quotes or links in what's otherwise a complete opinion piece). @KGRAMR: Technically, probably no. Grand Kingdom was created by some staff at a new company, not Vanillaware themselves. It's more a spiritual successor. On that argument, Princess Crown also wouldn't be included since while it's a kind of precursor most of the current Vanillaware staff didn't work on it. Depends how wide you'd go for games related to a topic. On top of that, there's likely a new Vanillaware title incoming based on teases from the company and Atlus's recent Famitsu anniversary interview. A random note of appreciation...

Hello ProtoDrake,

I'm not one much for giving barnstars & the like, but as a general note of appreciation, nice work on the Shadow Hearts series of articles that looks likely to pass at good topic candidates. As a random story, if you check back deep in the history, Younger SnowFire wrote the first series article in 2004 - my first edits, actually, in creating that article. The "Shadow Hearts" series article as of 2004 in all its 2004-era-Wikipedia glory if you want a chuckle - definitely too chatty & Fandom/Wikia like by modern standards, although not unusual by standards then! It's great to see what you've done and how far the whole series of articles has come from its humble roots. Hey ProtoDrake! I don't believe we've interacted before on here, so first things first, let me introduce myself. My name is Gen. Quon, and I'm an editor who works largely on articles about TV shows (e.g., X-Files, The Office, and Adventure Time). Right now, I'm actually working on my PhD in library science, too, and for my dissertation, I'm studying the information behaviors of fan editors. (Here's a more detailed outline of my project, if you'd like to read about it!) One thing though having looked through other editors you've contacted, I don't like communicating via Wikipedia email (had an extremely bad experience with a now-banned user pestering me to do their dirty work regarding Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE). I totally understand that hesitance. In full disclosure, was hoping to jump to email to discuss setting up an off-wiki phone, Zoom, etc. interview with you, as those types of interviews are often very detailed. By the way, I know you aren't into Kingdom Hearts but I tried expanding Sora (Kingdom Hearts) and found commentary from Nomura about each of his designs the character wears across the franchise. Since Smash' promo collected all outfits into one image I thought about adding them to the article but nobody has responded yet it the talk page. You think that image I linked there should be used? @Tintor2: Using that image for all but his most recognisable/iconic appearance (minus those UI elements of course) does have its merits, but can't you do the same as I did with the Lightning article and use in-game screenshots? The problem would be an overuse of nonfree images since Nomura kinda gave him one design per game and never mixed all designs in one game. Lightning only had two alternate designs, Sora kinda goes a bit far so that's why that compilation Smash gave it might make it easier. It's kinda the problem I have with Dante (Devil May Cry) since such character has a total of six designs that, while are discussed a lot, they push a lot the criteria of nonfree images.Tintor2 (talk) 20:45, 25 February 2022 (UTC)

@Tintor2: Then if you can find a UI-less version of the Sora image you had at a suitably low res without destroying the detail, that should be ideal. Reception section

I've been trying to rewrite the reception section of Kingdom Hearts III to be more faithful to the manual of style in a similar way to how you wrote Final Fantasy XV. With the whole confusing ending and focus on Sora, I ended with a third paragraph besides the typical focus on gameplay and narrative. Got any suggestion? Cheers. @KGRAMR:, thank you for the update. But I have no interest at all in the Shining Force series, and while I may have left sources on a page once or twice, that was just a casual thing. At the moment I'm focusing on not only plans for work on Grand Kingdom (and hopefully El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron), but I'm preparing to take the article for Lunafreya Nox Fleuret to GAN. Also this month (and potentially year) is going to be really busy in real life, and taking on something of this scale isn't practicable.
