Conflict with the Hip Sing Tong
[edit]United under the leadership of Thai, the BTK brazenly committed crimes and robberies whenever and wherever they wanted, because according to David, since Chinatown's traditional power structure did not include the Vietnamese, the Vietnamese were therefore not bounded by the rules and laws of the community. The gang had also, as a result of this belief, not sworn allegiance to any particular Tongs or the Triad, unlike many of their contemporary gangs, and as such, frenziedly robbed from establishments that were under control of other Chinatown crime syndicates; on one occasion, a group of six gang members robbed from a gambling den at 1 Catherine Street, in which they stripped several of the customers (including some Tong leaders) in the basement of the gambling den of their cash, jewelry, and credit cards.[1]
Sometime in the summer of 1990, David Thai was personally requested to attend a meeting by Kai Sui "Benny" Ong, the adviser-for-life of the Hip Sing Tong, otherwise known to the Chinatown community as the Godfather of Chinatown or Chut Suk, which translates to "Uncle Seven". Hearing of the instability of the Chinatown criminal infrastructure caused directly as a result of the BTK's recent activities, Benny Ong demanded a kong su, an underworld slang for negotiation with David Thai, in order to discuss the matter. Presumably, had the meeting taken place, Benny Ong would have offered David the ability to hold onto his rackets and control of Canal Street in exchange of giving up the reigns over his gang brothers. Though many in the Chinese community felt that David should've felt honored to attend a meeting with Uncle Seven, David did not respond to Ong's request for a meeting or negotiation.[2] In retaliation, Thai's right-hand man at that point, Vinh Vu, was gunned down at a street corner at 1:00 AM when Vinh and his companion were waiting for a taxi to pick them up from a massage parlor.[3]

Arthur Ha was a Chinese born American gangster who was a Manhattan triad criminal and a member of the notorious White Eagles gang during the early 1970s until his death on March 3rd, 1973.
Death
[edit]On March 3rd 1973 Nikki Louie and his crew from the Ghost Shadows gang spotted Arthur Ha, standing alone on Mott Street, shoving a gun into his ribs, they kidnapped him by a car, bound his hands with wire and tied his feet together with twine, driving him to a pier in the East River, dragged him to the edge of the water threw him into the swiftly moving current drowning him with his body being recovered several weeks later.
His death marked a change in the Chinese underworld because it showed that the White Eagles were venerable in their, supposedly safe, geographical territory. Arthur Ha's death was the beginning of the end of the their dominance of Mott Street. The On Leong Tong later changed their enforcement arm, muscle, from the White Eagles to the Ghost Shadows. Later the White Eagle's disbanded in 1980 and all this started with the death of Arthur Ha.[4][5] [6]

Born | Circa. 1950 Canton Region, China |

Nationality | China, United States |
Other names | The Scientist |
Occupation(s) | Crime boss, Gangster, Extorsionist, Gambler |
Known for | Leader of Flying Dragons, Triad Member |
Criminal status | Deceased |
Michael Chen was a Chinese born American gangster who was a Manhattan triad criminal and the leader of the notorious Flying Dragons (gang) during the late 1970's until his death on March 13, 1983.
Early Life
[edit]Chen was born in the Canton Region of China in 1950. When he was 13 years old, he immigrated to New York City from Hong Kong with his mother and sister. There they were joined his father, who had left China when his mother was pregnant with Chen. After his arrival, Chen worked as a delivery boy for a Chinese restaurant in Upper Manhattan while attending Seward Park High School, near Chinatown. After his graduation from high school, Chen attended college briefly. Chen's father learned a living as a taxi driver. [6]
Criminal History
[edit]Chen started his criminal career around the mid seventies. He was arrested in Queens for homicide in 1976 but the charges were dismissed. The following year, he was indicted in the slayings of two members of the rival Ghost Shadows during a brazen shoot-out in the crowded Pagoda Theater on East Broadway in Manhattan's Chinatown. However, he was later acquitted. In the late 1970's he became the head of the Flying Dragons. [6]
Personality
[edit]Chen was nicknamed "The Scientist" because of his cool calm demeanor and patient ways. He had a reputation for being polite and never seemed outrageous or rude, He did not drink, smoke or gamble and was generous toward others. He did however, have weakness for women. He was considered to be extremely good to his parents and affectionate toward his grandmother. He owned three expensive sports cars and dressed only in designer clothes. Chen thought himself as a businessman and had invested in a nightclub in Flushing, Queens, a meat market and a paper supply house in Manhattan. Before his demise, he allegedly told his friends he was contemplating completely disassociating himself from the from the gangland of Chinatown and transforming himself into a respectable businessman. [6]
Death
[edit]On March 13, 1983, Chen was woken up in the middle of the night by a phone call and left his apartment which was above the Hip Sing Tong Credit Union and showed up at a coffee shop adjacent to the credit union. There he was shot with a handgun fourteen times four of then went thru his eyes. The Police Spokesman Sgt. Edwin LeSchack identified Chen's body which was found at 12:30 pm by an officer of the Hip Sing Association. Although Michael Chen's Murder was never been solved initial speculation by Police Captain Robert Larkin was that is was a revenge killing by the Free Masons Gang who accused the Flying Dragons of killing three of their own members in a restaurant in Chinatown last December. However further investigation police theorized that the killing was carried out by people whom Chen knew because he would not have gotten out of bed at such a late time to meet strangers. In the early 1980's the was a fight for the control of the soul of the Flying Dragons with Chen being on the position that the gang should stick to traditional racketeering with the crimes of extortion and gambling and on the other side was of Chen's underling Johnny "Machine Gun" Eng who wanted to expand into more lucrative crimes such as heroin trafficking. This lead to a division in the gang as what would be the future of the organization. A deeper investigation uncovered that it was a power grab by Johnny Eng to take full control of the Flying Dragons. It was also thought that since the Flying Dragons were associated with the Hip Sing Tong and that the shooting happened across the street for the Tong it is believed that the assassination could not have occurred without the blessing of the leader of the Hip Sing Tong Benny Ong who was considered the Godfather of Chinatown therefor sanctioned the murder of Michael Chen. The entire logo is used to convey the meaning intended and avoid tarnishing or misrepresenting the intended image. |
Low resolution? |
The logo is of a size and resolution sufficient to maintain the quality intended by the company or organization, without being unnecessarily high resolution. |
Purpose of use |
The image is used to identify Cold War (TV series), a notable product or service. The significance of the logo is to help the reader identify the product or service, assure the readers that they have reached the right article containing critical commentary about that product or service, and illustrate branding associations of the product or service in a way that words alone could not convey. |

The article Robert Whelan (actor) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Flat Out let's discuss it 05:42, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
I did a search on the last episode "Under Siege! - Leningrad 1941" synopsis first sentence: Few, if any siege in history, can compare to the grim,... and it appears to have been copy/pasted. Unfortunately, this would likely be considered a copyright violation. You will likely need to rewrite it in your own words. A sentence or two can be used as a quote, but in this case is probably needs to be your own words. For policy, please see Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
A few, perhaps overly picky points:
- Is "sinopse" a correct spelling? (perhaps wp:engvar) I thought it was "synopsis". (X);
- The synopses seem a bit long compared to others I have seen. How do the synopses lengths compare with other similar articles?
(X) They are more or less the same because they are epsiode explanations instead of synopisis. - See wp:puffery, probably should avoid words such as "prominent" and "famous".(X);
- You should add a space at the top after "Robert Powell," (X);
- Perhaps replace "more numerous" with "other"?(X);
- In the infobox, should "Running time" show the total time for the series (I would be interested in that) as well the average time of each episode?(X) Most of the articles don't have the total time listed for there series but if anyone wanted to know it would be simple to just take the running time multipled by the number of episodes. Also if I wanted to add the total time it would not show on the info box because it one has the label for the aprox. time for each individual episode.
- Eventually, fill out the references using template:cite web. My guess is that you could submit the article without using
{{cite web}}
.
(X)
It looks good! You have done a lot of work here. I would say once you reword the synopses, it would be ready. Best of luck! Jim1138 (talk) 18:11, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
- I am not sure how familiar you are with Wikipedia. Some prodigious editors add help to their user page user:Privatesteverogers. (Yours is empty). Speedy deletion nomination of History's Turning Points
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on History's Turning Points, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be a clear copyright infringement of http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/historys-turning-points/. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Back Cover the History of Warfare Episode Hannibal and the Punic Wars.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Back Cover the History of Warfare Episode Hannibal and the Punic Wars.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Whpq (talk) 18:24, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
Non-free images
[edit]Hi,
You've started uploading many non-free images to The History of Warfare (TV series). Non-free content must meet all of the non-free content criteria. Use of DVD covers in episode lists as you doing here does not satisfy WP:NFCC#8. I would suggest you remove the DVD cover and title card columns from the list as it is very unlikely that any usage of non-free images for those columns as the article is constructed will meet WP:NFCC#8. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 18:29, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Arthur Ha
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Arthur Ha requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
What can be used as a source the documentary or the fact it is on Google Drive ? I can offer you a Youtube or Dailymotion link so you can be able to watch the documentary.
- Google drive and Youtube are definitely not reliable sources, I don't know about Daily Motion. Theroadislong (talk) 18:20, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
I just want to know if the documentary can be used as a reliable source?

[edit]Hello, this is in regards to your edit on Michael Chen. What is your thought process behind undoing the edit made by Michael Cross? It was trimming down the article, and I don't see how undoing it made a difference. Please follow up with an explanation. ˜”*°•.˜”*°• djdj5050 - (talk to me) •°*”˜.•°*”˜ 16:52, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
Hello Philip Cross made a revision to the personality of Michael Chen. This revision took out main details about the personality of Michael Chen. Every detail is made to better decribe the man that he was and Philip's Cross's revisions take out key details in explaining this man. Therefore I undid his edit. I thank him for his many edits and he his welcome to revise in the page any time but in the subject I thought it wise to undo his edit. Privatesteverogers (talk) 17:03, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response. I'm not sure if you saw the reasoning for the edit, but it says that the revision by Cross was made for the article to look 'less like a submission by his defense council'. I have to agree, as saying he had a great relationship with his grandmother isn't really relevant to the article and does sound like something written to put him in a better light. I am open to a counter-argument but I cannot really see this being included, unless you can find a source to cite yourself - ˜”*°•.˜”*°• djdj5050 - (talk to me) •°*”˜.•°*”˜ 17:16, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
Hello, your welcome for the response.
The reasoning for the edit is not that the explanation is 'less like a submission by his defense council’ or saying that he was good to his grandmother. It has nothing to do with defending Michael Chen it is about explaining that he was generous towards people being key to his personality and therefore key to the article. It has nothing to do with the fact that it makes him seem less like a criminal, it is about the person that he was. It is contradictory but it is still foremost to understanding him.
Philip Cross's edits take away this principal detail in his personality which is the reason they called him "The Scientist". You should not take out he fact that Chen had a reputation for being polite just because it makes him look good but because it is better for the article. The edit took out the foremost aspect about it was his kindness, even though he was a had this lawbreaking aspect about him. It is not in his defense of the man; he was a criminal and not a good person. That is indisputable. However, he had this positive feature to himself. Consequently being positive for the article.
Many organized crime leaders had this aspect towards themselves. Angelo Bruno the former leader of the Philadelphia Mafia was called the “Gentle Don” because he preferred diplomacy than violence. He was still a mobster but still preferred to use less violence to do business and make more money. Chen had this same aspect towards him.
Many organized crime leaders had this characteristic. It is the reason why they lasted as long as they did because of the fact, it caused less attention form law enforcement. As the old saying goes you get more flies with honey than with vinegar.
Therefore as the creator of the article, I did research on Michael Chen very well and that he had this positive side towards him even though it may seem contradictory.
My source is from the book: Beyond the Mafia: Organized Crime in the Americas contained in the link below:
Therefore I hope you see this a positive towards my counter argument as why my previous edits should be maintained. Privatesteverogers (talk) 18:59, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
- Hey again, thanks for the continued response. I see no problem with adding the information back as long as it is cited properly. When you say you did research on Chen, since there was no source, it does seem like you are just being troublesome; however, you backed yourself up nicely. Thanks ˜”*°•.˜”*°• djdj5050 - (talk to me) •°*”˜.•°*”˜ 23:56, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
Your welcome for the continued response it’s no problem. It is my pleasure. Thank you for the compliment I try to write and express myself the best way possible, Sorry if I sounded troublesome.
