So, you were interested in it? I thought you were not, as it's definitely a different "evidence" than the one you had in mind. Or am I wrong? //Halibutt 14:30, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, he does seem ignorant of the ways of Wikipedia, though it appears he's reasonably familiar with wikis. Perhaps he has experience on a private wiki somewhere. I'll keep an eye on him, and try to help.

Speedy deletion of Oscar Werner Tiegs

[edit]
Resolved

Paged retained.

A tag has been placed on Oscar Werner Tiegs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. mboverload@ 23:16, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you could make one of each from 31 - 150, it would be nice. I'm using them as counters for my contribs.Mitch32(UP) 16:25, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By number images, do you mean , for example ?
I can do, but I do not have a lot of time at the moment, and will not have for some weeks, so it might be a few months before I can get to 150! If you are referring to , do you have a preference for colour, red, green, or blue, or some other colour ?

Police Infoboxes for the UK

[edit]

Forgive me if I'm clearly being dense, but why is the change of infoboxes a "slow" process? Surely it can't be a particularly onerous task to alter the limited number of pages for the UK and similar forces, thus ensuring that they are all standard, rather than changing just one or two and leaving the rest as they are. Hammserfan 06/11/08, 19.55 GMT

I was referring to the overall process world wide . . .
The UK could be done anytime, but as we are all volunteers in our spare time, it is just a matter of limited time and priority etc. The ones that get done tend to be the ones that get looked at for some other reason and the InfoBoxes get done at the same time. The other thing that gets done too at the same time is a bit of research to try to fill in some of the data gaps. Thus it is not just a matter of a quick copy edit paste. I too intend to start to do them in a structured way myself soon . . .
Cheers Peet Ern (talk) 22:21, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've brought up the Obama family chart from your sandbox

[edit]

Here: Template talk:Obama family#Ugly. Thanks. Just tips me hat but then 〜on thought bows deeply 22:34, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the note. Peet Ern (talk) 03:22, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I would like to make a new chart for the Udalls

[edit]

Namely of this: Udall family#Family tree or File:Udall Political Family.jpg. (One, incidentally, that would update its bottom bar to shoehorn in mention that the two congressional representative Udall cousins are now U.S. senators and lists Gordon Smith's term dates in the U.S. Senate.) Anyway, if you could send me some coded template (or a link to your sandbox where you'd have the same preliminary placement of info filled in?)...where you'd done the preliminary work of assigning each individual's nickname or initials from the existing chart into the appropriate slot in your new compounded-template, I would finish it filling in their full names and birthdates, etc. Whadya think?

The three constituent progenitor family names are

  1. Hunt: Jefferson Hunt → John (Hunt) → Ida (Hunt (Udall)), in pink (red or whatever))
  2. Lee: John D. Lee → J. David Lee → Louisa (Lee (Udall)) and Lela (Lee (Udall)), in green (or whatever); and, of course
  3. Udall: David King Udall and Eliza (Stewart (Udall)), in blue (or whatever)

Just tips me hat but then 〜on thought bows deeply 23:11, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the vote of support, but:

  • The current template is still under development, so it would not be appropriate to put it into main space articles yet.
  • It would better if you had a go, perhaps in a sandbox of yours, and let me know of any issues with useability, documentation, etc., so that I can improve the template.

Cheers. Peet Ern (talk) 03:46, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Gabba reference on the Brisbane page

[edit]

Thank you for saying that you would fix this up. I appreciate it very much. The reason why I tried to add the reference was because somebody had incorrectly stated, on the template on the Brisbane page, that The Gabba was called the 'Woolloongabba cricket ground', whereas the official name of the ground is actually Brisbane Cricket Ground.

I will leave it to you to do what you think is best for the template. All the best. Figaro (talk) 08:22, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually the "somebody was me", because that is what "we" called it as children, because our grand father did . . . I am not fussed at all, as long as the article is correct. It might be intersting to know if it has always been offically called the Brisbane Cricket Ground ? Peet Ern (talk) 21:08, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

autonumbered tables

[edit]

Hello Pee. The table seems quite nice, thank you. I still have some questions about it. How can I change the lay out of the table, for instance add some grid as in the class="wikitable". And when there is some tie in the ranks, does the table work?Japf (talk) 12:03, 18 April 2009 (UTC) I shouln't be so hasty. You have already answered the second question in the "doc". But I still don't know how to change the table layout.Japf (talk) 12:12, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

At the moment it is not possible to add grid lines. I will have to modify the template and try to add the feature of grid lines as an option. This will take me some time because I do not get much wikitime. If the template is okay as it is I will move it in to Template space, and then work on the extra option/s as time permits. Peet Ern (talk) 13:28, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. For the moment you can move it to the template space. The layout is secondary.Japf (talk) 10:44, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Peet

Since it already passed a month with no changes from you, I will move my self the template for its right place.Japf (talk) 21:49, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unfourtunately I could't manage to do it.Japf (talk) 22:54, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Peet, I spend an hour or two trying to figure out what is going wrong with this. If I paste your text from User:Pee_Tern/Sandbox/Template/autonumbered_list/doc#Multiple_fields and just change the template to say {{autonumbered list}} it doesn't work. I change the columns=1 and it gets closer (but still the headings don't appear - I wonder if you or someone else has changed/deleted a template that this uses - except the example that I just pointed at works perfectly (or apparently so). Any clue why ? I've learnt too much about templates trying to figure it out, but I'm still nowhere :) EdwardLane (talk) 03:23, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm still interested in a solution to this discrepancy, I see that you've been back online a little lately so perhaps you might see this message (cross virtual appendages). EdwardLane (talk) 16:49, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

List of footballers in England and Scotland by number of league appearances

[edit]

I have learned that you have managed to put autonumbering in tables. I am no good with anything other than basic tables, and was wondering if you had the time, if you could add a 'Rank' column to this table, down the left hand side (i.e. before 'Name'). If not, could you at least possibly tell me how to do it? Many thanks, GiantSnowman 07:51, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
