File permission problem with File:Privately tarred road in Awka-Etiti, Nigeria.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Privately tarred road in Awka-Etiti, Nigeria.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 14:04, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article Submission

[edit]

Many thanks for your review, and thanks for the approval. As it was my first article created from scratch I just wanted to go through the proper channels to make sure all the criteria were fulfilled. Now that I have a better idea of what's involved I'll probably not request submission for future articles, as per your suggestion. Thanks again. Jodon | Talk 13:49, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Odlo page

[edit]

Hello there, thanks for taking the time to check my proposed submission for http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/odlo I am having issues finding more links than the Bloomberg one. First of all I am in no way affiliated to this company, but it is a leader in most of Europe. It represents the same importance as http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Under_armour or http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Helly_Hansen (this last one has no proper references by the way). So how can I get this page moving? Thanks Nmacpherson (talk) 10:29, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The article seems to be written from a neutral point of view but finding reliable links to establish notability is a problem with Odlo. While the article Helly Hansen is not properly referenced, a quick Google search does provide indication of the company notability. Third party reports such as from Reuters here and here as well as their use in media covered expeditions and their sponsorship of yacht regatta are some examples that indicate sufficient coverage. I also tried to save the article by searching for suitable coverage for Odlo but could only find fleeting references. However a further search has shown that the article Odlo already exists on the German wikipedia. This reference there in German language does indicate notability to me but it is an only. Also mentioned in the German article is the claim to a red dot award for product design which is unreferenced and liable to be challenged. If reliable reference to the red dot award for Odlo could be found that would convince me, but I cant find it on the red dot web site.Ochiwar (talk) 18:42, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bangla Rock of India

[edit]

Hi, I believe your rationale for declining Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Bangla Rock of India was mistaken. The article Bangladeshi rock has been changed from a language-based article (covering West Bengal in India, as well as Bangladesh) to a national page that is exclusively about rock within the country of Bangladesh. See the March 2013 discussions at Talk:Bangladeshi rock.

I am not sure whether the topic will sustain a separate page, as it might be better to expand Music of Bengal and Music of West Bengal instead. However, you might like to record a different reason for declining the AfC. – Fayenatic London 20:03, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I have changed the reason for AfC decline and proposed a merger to Music of BengalOchiwar (talk) 21:18, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Articles for Creation: Autism and Memory

[edit]

Hey Ochiwar, I know a few weeks ago you declined our submission for an article to be created entitled, "Autism and Memory." You suggested we merge our article onto either the "Autism" page or the "Memory" page. Originally we had tried to merge our article onto the Autism page, but they recommended we create our own because they didn't want it to be on the Autism page. Following your suggestion, we reached out to the "Memory" page and asked if we might merge our article onto their page. They replied with the same response as the Autism page, suggesting that it would be better for us to create our own page. So--we are kind of in a rock and a hard place. Any suggestions? Also, it should be noted that this is a class project for our Cognitive Psychology class at Davidson College. Thanks, --Haschorr (talk) 01:12, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for you comment at "Talk:Airway management". A technical point: CPAP should not normally be regarded as a means of ventilation; it is not used to provide ventilation. Rather, it is used in acute pulmonary oedema to facilitate removal of exudate and improve oxygenation, and in obstructive sleep apnoea to maintain a patent airway.

Best wishes. Axl ¤ [Talk] 10:12, 18 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the welcome! And yes I know what you mean. I am having a bit of problems with English medical terminology since I practice in German. "Ventilation" in this case was a verbatim interpretation of the German "Beatmung", but I understand that its use is technically incorrect in this context. Gwenaëlle Gobé

[edit]

Hi Ochiwar,

I saw your request for someone to review the Gwenaëlle Gobé article, and so I took a stab at some edits. Basically the article looked pretty good - edits were often cosmetic or wikipedia formatting items rather than copy edit:

  • The citations were barelinks, which can be resolved in the future by using the Reflinks tool link, clicking on "Interactive" and then click "Run Reflinks" (no changes are needed to the default settings). The Interactive option produces the best results and is amazing!
It fills in information for most links to direct web pages (i.e., doesn't format pdf files, etc.)
  • There were a number of places where there were acronyms, such as MFA, MoMA, UPenn. It's best to spell it out the acronyms - this is especially helpful for people that may not be familiar with the geographic area and industry acronyms that are very familiar to you.
  • I added citation needed tags where needed. Since this is an article about a living person, and bears the most stringent guidelines for notability, verifiability of information and concerns about original research -- if there are not reliable sources for information that you may know but it's not published, it's better to remove the information entirely.
Uncited information in an article can be a red flag for editors who may question notability and/or if the article author is too close to the subject.
  • Title of films and works should be italicized.
  • It's best to use objective language. I removed "like never before" and "the infamous"
  • It's good to add wikilinks to other articles, especially for organizations or people named in the article, like Henry Chalfant, Lee Quiñones, and Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw.

What appears to need to be done:

  • Complete names of the graffiti artists where possible, rather than just their nicknames. For instance, it appeared that Chuck Ellis is "Daze".
  • It's good to check that the content is not a copy-paste or close paraphrasing of the content. I didn't check extensively for that, but didn't find anything in a few spot checks.
  • Find sources where there are "citation needed" tags. If you cannot find reliable, published sources, the information should be removed.
THIS SPACE AVAILABLE

Billboards and commercial messages dominate the public space like never before. Are the efforts to reverse this trend signaling a movement? From 240 hours of film, 160 interviews, and visits to 11 countries on five continents, This Space Available charts a fascinating variety of struggles against unchecked advertising and suggests that more than aesthetics is at stake. But the filmmaker also recognizes the history and politics behind this fight. Turning to such legislation as the Highway Beautification Act of 1965, Gobe shows how the enforcement of this landmark law, designed to regulate outdoor advertising on America's roadways, has steadily eroded. And today, public space activists like Jordan Seiler faces harsh penalties for covering outdoor ads with art - while officials turn a blind eye to illegally erected billboards. Still, the film strikes a hopeful tone.

The Wikipedia Library gets Wikipedia editors free access to reliable sources that are behind paywalls. Because you are signed on as a medical editor, I thought you'd want to know about our most recent donation from Cochrane Collaboration.

  • Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization that conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.
  • Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account.
  • If you are still active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)

You deleted the references. That is one way of fixing them I guess. I had done the first one to show you how. When I have time I will do the rest. When you have time you could do some too. Magazines and TV Screens Tour

[edit]

Believe me: the only reason I declined it was that it didn't look spammy to me. The wording was generally neutral — the "Background" section was rather suspicious, but the rest of the article wasn't a problem, and removing Background wouldn't ruin the rest of the article, so it really didn't qualify. At the same time, I thoroughly agree that this kind of subject isn't article-worthy, and the things you mentioned at my talk page are all reasons that I would vote for deletion if this were taken to AFD. However, NOTNEWS is routinely ignored, and I've gotten tired of nominating unencyclopedic subjects for deletion on NOTNEWS grounds; tons of AFD voters seem to think that a few random newspaper articles are enough for an encyclopedia article, even though they're not chronologically independent of the subject. Hi, I proposed your article for deletion because it was a very short article, which cited no references or sources at all, even after prompting. Reliable sources are required to be able to establish notability. The information in your article has been largely covered in the extensive article on the topic Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha. Besides this your article was about a temple ,organisation or place to be opened in the future and as such not yet existing (see WP:SPECULATION). Neural accommodation

[edit]

Hi Ochiwar, action potential is a really nice article, but does not mention the phenomenon I pointed out in neural accommodation article. Neur(on)al accommodation is a special behavior of the excitable cell in a special condition, that was a great puzzle before the Noble Pize winning discovery made by the Hodgkin and Huxley in 1952 (cited article in the end). Many physiologist still neglect the phenomenon, because it is hard to understand, even 60 years later. However, the effect of hyperkalemia, for instance, can not be fully understood without this important detail. I have alredy referred to neural accomodation in article hyperkalemia. It is really important, not because I wrote it, but because it was a missing infomration from wikipeia before I introduced. If it is deleted it will be missing again. :-)

--Robag.Odnaj (talk) 21:35, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ochiwar, I am back again. I tried to improve a bit the article, but I am still not satisfied at al. I do not have more time to elaborate the problem more precisely at the moment. "Anode break excitation" is very similar issue to my "neural accommodation" article. It is a special behavior of the cells in a special condition which is neglected by most physiology teacher, because its complicated math behind the phemomenon. The author of "anode break excitation" new that it was an important issue, but still does not understand the phenomenon. I can help improving it later if noone else does it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robag.Odnaj (talkcontribs) 22:12, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your article, the page is not marked for deletion. The article is taged with maintenance templates not taged for deletion. This is necessary because the subject of the article may not meet the notability for academics guideline. The sources provided are not suitable to establish notability because they are self published and not reliable secondary sources. A Curriculum Vitae and a faculty page provided as references are both written by the subject himself and can not be considered to be from a neutral point of view. References should be from reliable secondary or third parties. For these reasons it is possible that the article may be challenged in future according to WP:BLPSOURCES. For now, that is not yet the case as the article has only been taged in the hope that you or some other editor with relevant information will still work to improve the article by providing adequate sources to establish notability. Hi Ochiwar. Sorry it took me so long to follow up on your Talk page message. You're right, List of reportedly haunted locations in the United States is more like a forum for rumors and stories than an actual Wikipedia article. I have cleaned up the unsourced/badly sourced stuff a few times, but within a month or so it's full of junk again. - LuckyLouie (talk) 02:17, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Same here. Still watching the page but I have kind of given up hope. Most times the damage is already too extensive before I could intervene, and I cant roll back. Ochiwar (talk) 07:47, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion H2O Innovation

[edit]

You said you delete my page for a variety of reasons but I don 't really understand why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jesspierre (talkcontribs) 20:09, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As I had written on the article talk page I nominated the article for deletion because it was copied and pasted from the company website and sub-pages, constituting a violation of Wikipedia Copyright policy. Please see Wikipedia:Copyright violations. Please see also WP:NOTADVERTISING. Ochiwar (talk) 20:50, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

TalkBack

[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to mention that it is a work in progress article and there are sufficient references present. It would be great if someone could proofread and/or look for references along side. Furthermore, there is no conflict of interest. The names are merely a coincidence. Thanks a lot.Akshitaguptaxyz (talk) 13:04, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

One problem is that you have created the same article twice, one as Prof. Dr. Subash Gupta wich is a wrong naming convention and again as Subash Gupta. Ochiwar (talk) 13:18, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the earlier one. And have made edits to Subash gupta. Can you remove it from speedy deletion? or what else can be done to remove the tag? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Akshitaguptaxyz (talkcontribs) 13:26, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by you removed the earlier one? Click on this link and you will see that it is still there. I tagged the second article for speedy deletion because it is a duplication of the first. Ochiwar (talk) 13:32, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Time-challenged

[edit]

Why did you think it was an article that was previously deleted? Because I started it? Just so you know, it has different content and is therefore not the same crapy article. I think the subject is encyclopedic, and that the stub should stay online to be improved. I myself do not have the time or funding to look into the matter further. --Truexper (talk) 04:36, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I never knew you or had heard of you before so it has nothing to do with who started the article. I knew the article had previously been deleted because while reviewing I checked and found the deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Time-challenged. Northwest Airlines Flight 188

[edit]

Hi, I've noticed you're reviewing Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Northwest Airlines Flight 188 for consideration for moving to userspace. Are you aware of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Northwest Airlines Flight 188? I didn't know if/how to add this to the AFC page, so I'm notifying you directly. Considering the AFC lists wikibin as a source, so it's likely a resubmission of the deleted article. Shouldn't this article be taken to WP:DRV instead? Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 06:44, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I had noticed the AfD but thanks for your suggestion. I have posted a request for opinions on the AfD page at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Northwest Airlines Flight 188 and asked some of those involved in the deletion discussion to comment. Would welcome your thoughts and comments there also, thanks. Ochiwar (talk) 08:45, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

From your local WikiGnome that are trying to write an article

[edit]

Hello my name is Josve05a and have recently declined my article (this one) and I was wondering about the comment you made.

see WP:NACTOR

The person of which I'm writing about has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows.

The shows and films might be Swedish and not written yet, but they are still notible.

I was also wondering if you had any suggestions for me on how I could improve the article, every little help would be appreciated!

(tJosve05a (c) 16:57, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Josve05a and thanks for your message. I did notice during my review that the subject is notable enough to have an entry in the Swedisch Wikipedia which is a good start. However during review I also noticed that of the six films or television shows she has appeared in according to the article, only two ( Vid Vintergatans slut and The Bridge)seem to be notable enough to have had an article of their own created for them on the English Wikipedia. Of these two films, the subject is only mentioned in the cast of the first, and not mentioned (as far as I can tell) in the Bridge article. In all, I did not consider this sufficient evidence of having had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions as per NACTOR. To improve on the subjects notability, I suggest filling in her roles in the existing articles on films she was in (such as the bridge), and create missing articles on films she has had significant roles in (if they pass WP:MOVIE). Note also that because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for Creation if you prefer. Thanks for the good work! Ochiwar (talk) 07:03, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ochiwar I received your input (submission decline) to my submission ([[3]]) about a month ago. I wanted to know if it's possible to chat with you on the problems in the content, since I am not completely clear of what the problems are i.e., understand a little more specifics on the problems here. Is the entry too long for a start up? Is there insufficient linking to the Emotions Analytics page that already exists on Wikipedia? Thanks very much. Mark Mark Barnett Writer (talk) 09:22, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No, insufficient linking to the Emotions Analytics page is not the problem. On the contrary, it seems like you have copy pasted that article with a company name as the new title. Ochiwar (talk) 17:41, 10 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi, it may have been a mistake, I thought I was simply following DocJames instructions on removing the tag if we didn't want it to be quick deleted.

Thank you for your edits to my page. I have responded in the talk page. I think you may have confused this page to be about medical efficacy, or that medical efficacy makes the orginization/product notable, that is not the case however. The article is not claiming medical efficacy, the article is about a consumer product/organization like 5-hour Energy. Significant secondary sources make the organization notable: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(organizations_and_companies).

Yes, I did write the article and have a conflict of interests. But I recognize that bias and have only included what was stated by press. Bias goes both ways (see: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Na%C3%AFve_realism), and though frowned upon (not outright disallowed), I have wrote the original content, but I am requesting help from the community to make sure the wording of the article fits with Wikipedia's standards. I would much appreciate it if you could help me polish the language to make it fit with Wikipedia's standards.

Thanks! Brookspowell629 (talk) 07:42, 10 November 2014 (UTC)Brookspowell629[reply]

It claims to be the most comprehensive hangover solution which is a medical claim that I am disputing and needs expert attention.

[edit]

I will leave the tag, but please notice "It claims..." not "It is...". There is no disputing that "it claims" it is the most effective hangover cure, it's on the site. What needs disputing is if the article claims "it is" the most effective hangover cure, which it is not.

Hello Ochiwar. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).[reply]

I have deleted all your revisions (and a lot of work by others as collateral damage) from Archaeology of Igbo-Ukwu for multiple copyright violations. I have given examples at Wikipedia talk:Did you know#GA with copyvios in Queue. I have of course also reverted the GA status of the article (now start-class). Please check the examples given, and indicate whether this is your standard way of working. If so, we will have to clean up your other article contributions as well, and you will have to change your editing manner. Fram (talk) 13:23, 11 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Igbo-Ukwu

[edit]

Archaeology of Igbo-Ukwu should be eligible for DYK again, as it is now a recently created article. You might want to drop a message on the talk about the issue, but I don't see anything in the rules rendering it ineligible, and articles are eligible for re-submission if they were previously rejected, as long as they meet DYK criteria. Also, I will try to help bring the article up to GA again.--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 18:39, 14 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia talk:Did you know#Can it be re-nominated?--3family6 (Talk to me | See what I have done) 19:35, 14 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks 3Fam6, much appreciated. Sorry for the embarrassment of having you GA review torpedoed like that. It was partly due to my own carelessness, and partly as a result of taking over the work of previous editors without appropriate criticism. Having said that I will hasten to add that Fram did overreact a little imho in his/her actions because I could have addressed her concerns in a jiffy had I been given the chance but I was not even notified. No matter, I decided that the article is too important to be discouraged. I have restarted the article and still have some days to nominate for DYK, which I intend to do, but wanted to see how far I can develop the article on the time available to me before the 7 days for DYK nomination expire. I also hope to be able to get it to GA again one day though it will probably take months again, but Rome was not built in a day. You can be sure however that this time I will be very careful to avoid any potential close paraphrasing issues. I have also nominated the article for vital status at Wikipedia talk:Vital articles/Expanded#Add Archaeology of Igbo-Ukwu in the hope of mobilizing other editors that might be interested in improving the article. Requests for uncreated articles

[edit]

Greetings & a great weekend to you all. I believe it would be great if the (Requests for uncreated articles) section in our wiki project can be attended to & at least one article be created this weekend as some requests have been pending since 2016. I believe this would be pivotal to the encyclopedia as a whole & a means to get editors who have gone inactive to revive their Wikipedia activities. Sent by Celestina007. Welcoming New Volunteers
(25/06/2021)

We hereby want to officially welcome new volunteers who have recently joined the collaborative project and have volunteered to work in WP:NIGERIA. The arrival of new volunteers is often associated with the confusion of “what to do” on their part, it is then behoove of us to treat them with care, guide them, and protect them from the general pitfalls a new editor would most usually fall into. We are also admonished to clean up after them if they err and encourage them, most especially when they are genuine editors with potential to do good work not just for us, but for the community as a whole. Once more, we hereby thank all new editors who have volunteered to work here and hope they enjoy their stay here.
