Connecting the article Principal equation form

    [edit]

Now the article Principal equation form is not an orphan anymore. I entered links to this article in many other articles in the so called See also lists at the end of those other articles. So the mentioned article Principal equation form now can be entered easily by visiting other already longer existing articles and clicking on the name of that article. Hopefully I have done everything correct. But I ask you sincerely to check if the orphan sign can be erased now. And I want you to answer if there is something further to do about this article. Because I want this article to shine in a brilliant magnificent way. Have a nice Christmas and New Year time! Yours faithfully and sincerely! Lion Emil Jann Fiedler also known as Reformbenediktiner

I get what you're doing on the CCI page, and I'm totally with you about the importance of providing attribution. That being said, as far as I know, nobody legally require any CCI editor or admin to do... well, anything? The WMF's legal department can advise the WMF that they're legally required to take, and you can tell other editors that you (as a private individual) believe that it would be wise for them to do something, but you can't say or even strongly imply that a fellow volunteer editor is legally required to go out of their way to do something. Even when I remind other editors that that they have to follow the terms of the license, I do my very best to make sure I'm stating that that it's something they need to do to comply with our own internal guidelines. Because if I state that they're legally required to do something, how am I going to follow that up should the other person fail to take notice? The converse is clear - that they're legally in the wrong. On top of being a judgement I am in no way qualified to make, the nest step to enforcing that legal requirement would have to be a lawsuit. A really easily dismissible lawsuit, to be clear- we're all acting in our capacities as volunteer editors, not the WMF or copyright holders, after all - but that's still a very scary thing to even imply, isn't it?

Also, you need to update your edit notice, because you're directing people looking to complain about copyright infringement to the DCM page. In its current form, that doesn't have the information somebody would need. Instead, you could direct them to Wikipedia:Contact us/Licensing. Those list the actual steps a copyright holder will need to take, including providing evidence that they are, in fact, the copyright owner. I don't know the WMF's internal policy, of course, but I'm assuming for really obvious liability reasons, that they procedurally ignore copyright takedown requests from third parties without standing. We as individuals can do as we wish, but that's a fine balance that relies on us a)volunteer editors not acting as agents of the WMF and b) those volunteer editors not having to put up with threats to hold us legally responsible for actions we did not take ourselves. I get what you are saying, and you are correct in terms of NLT. I meant "we" as in Wikipedia, the service, not we, the individual editors and users. It is indeed a bit over the edge reading it back, but I was taken aback with "enwiki does not revdelete CC license attribution errors" which is a blatant mistruth (or failure to adhere to the license terms at least). Hence why I came out in force with my opinion. Wikimedia Commons has a Village Pump dedicated for copyright questions and discussions, so discussions such as these are many and with specific legal definitions and text. Here on enwp, I couldn't find such - CCI was the closest page i could find that could be a venue - but I get that it is not usual to discuss "legal requirements" in terms of user involvement here, compared to e.g. on Commons.
Regarding the edit notice, I didn't even realise I still had that on my talk page...I'm gonna rewrite it entirely I think - thanks for the heads up! Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 12:29, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

About this article Black T Igwe

    [edit]

    Hello to you @Josve05a,

I hope you are in good health, you have marked the article Black T Igwe, As being orphaned by replacing "related article" with "see also"

By the way, the subject of the article has already made feats with singers and they belong to his circle so I don't understand why the orphan banner is put on the article, explain to me and tell me

Tell me what should I do or should I create an article for three Togolese singers with whom he collaborated? 102.64.160.164 (talk) 07:14, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Currently, no other article lins to this article. Examples of articles that could link could be new articles about their albums, or "Music in Year X" articles, or if the've won an award it could link form the article about the reward itself, etc. This is a maintenance tag, and will be removed once other editors has "integrated it" into the encyclopedia. Please read more on Wikipedia:Orphan. Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 18:44, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
    Hello @Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk),

I looked through the information on the orphan articles.

I think the best thing is to translate the articles into French for English thumbs up Great! as well to correct this problem of orphaned articles while waiting for the contributions of other contributors Since most of the articles are not yet translated into English to fill this gap.

Thanks for the explanation, as soon as I have some time I will do it. Videke (talk) 22:41, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
