Fair use rationale for Image:L'bby Habba.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:L'bby Habba.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mønobi 00:08, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Da Vinci Tower

I have nominated Da Vinci Tower, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Da Vinci Tower. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. WikiProject Dubai

OOODDD, since you created so many of the building articles for the Dubai list, I thought I should let you know about the WikiProject Dubai. It is currently being proposed here. If you are interested in becoming a member, please add your name. If you have any questions, just let me know. Thank you. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 05:27, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Copy/paste vs GFDL.

Re the split off List of terrorist incidents articles, remember that content on Wikipedia is licensed under the GFDL which requires attribution of the authors. When not copying the history log but just doing a copy/paste, be sure to indicate that other authors can be found at the original history log in the very first edit's edit summary (a later will now have to do), and by placing a prominent notice on both the original and new article's talk pages. -- Jeandré, 2008-01-19t19:54z

Dubai buildings - too many articles?

I didn't realize exactly how many of the buildings created for the FL pass of List of tallest buildings in Dubai were in the same complexes. We really don't need to have separate articles for buildings in the same complex; would you be in support of merging them? Another editor has expressed concern here about the "messy" status of the Dubai buildings category and the articles in general, and I have to say I agree. There is no need to have several stubs when they can all be covered by one large, well-referenced article. Example - Jumeirah Lake Towers can cover many of the buildings in the complex, instead of having separate pages for Jumeirah Lake Apartments, Jumeirah Lake Offices, Anantara Hotel, etc. Comments? Quick request

In the future, if you could use {{Film}} instead of {{FilmsWikiProject}}, I'd be very grateful. Although the latter one automatically redirects to the former, it has been deprecated, and we're trying to phase out its usage as task force tagging slowly occurs over the next year or so. Knowing that it's not being added to new articles would put me greatly at ease. Thanks! Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 08:48, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Dab pages

Thank you for your recent efforts for the disambiguation project. In the future, on WPMED project pages, please do not copy class and importance ratings from an unrelated page. I have just corrected all of the hospital pages from |class=B|importance=High to read |class=Dab|importance=Low. If you're not certain, you can always leave them blank, like this: {{WPMED|class=|importance=}}, but generally for disambiguation pages, the class should be Dab (for disambiguation). Thanks, WhatamIdoing (talk) 20:56, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article André (band), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:RiseAgain.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:RiseAgain.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:06, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Dab banner templates

Hi. Just a pointer to this discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Disambiguation#Tagging of Project Banner at Talk pages, where I'm using one of your edits as a negative example (sorry, no ill-intent meant ;) My guess is that you're adding the templates using a script, which adds the variables by default? Reply there, or here, or not at all! All good.

Also, a reminder to please use edit summaries whenever possible. Thanks :) -- Quiddity (talk) 21:28, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Notability of Young Drivers

A tag has been placed on Young Drivers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. TheVaultDweller (talk) 01:43, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Excel (driving school)

A tag has been placed on Excel (driving school) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Oore (talk) 01:45, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Inappropriate placing of talkpage

Please stop placing {{talkpage}} on every single Wikipedia page. Like I said in the history page of Talk:Go, read #Usage. Can you now remove the tags from talk pages which do not need it? Reply below, I'd like to keep discussions in one area. Regards, Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 16:11, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

  • Hey there, OooDDdManIn! Sometimes i wonder if i'm following Sesh or Abtract around (since we all do a lot of Dab cleanup), but i guess i really am following you around: i'm not sure whether seeing your flashy user-id again made me glance at this talk page, or my pop-up tools accidentally flashed its first 'graph up (bcz i recently cleaned up Jabo, and you tagged its talk page) while i paused to look at an unrelated entry.
Anyway -- while i agree with Sesh & Abtract (without researching whatever they have), that (at the very least) the tag is cluttery on pg's where there's been no problem with talk-page style -- i much more urgently want you to know this:
I encourage every editor to be their own assignment editor, doing the work that interests them. Even where -- as is the case here -- there's evidence that someone thinks removing a tag is worthwhile, i won't tell (or urge or invite) even the person with the interest how to spend their editing time. (But only, at the most, raise the possibility that they have the interest, with the understanding that whether they do or not is none of my business.)
If you're in a 10-step program and therefore into "Mak[ing] direct amends", don't let me interfere. But IMO Linus's Law is the foundation of WP (and e.g. NPoV merely follows from it), and rigorously deprecating attempts of one editor (or user) to get (rather than invite) another editor to take an action is for me the second most important guide to editing. (Well, if the Arbitration Board finds it useful in a particular case to set remediation as a condition of something else, i'll support them. But they seem to do a fine job without my knowing any details to speak of, so that case is not very interesting.)

WOW

You have been busy but, it seems, in not quite the right way. This is a suggestion you can ignore if you want: What you have been doing is pretty harmless but it does appear to be against the rules so I would desist from adding the tags to talk pages if I were you. Sess can get a bit funny with his/her warnings and, if you carry on, pretty soon will ask for you to be blocked and no-one wants that. Why not try some really useful editing on some "random articles" (I know you like them from your main user page). Anyway it's no skin off my nose but that's my advice. Either way enjoy wp. :) Abtract (talk) 16:21, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Ignore the belated April Fools' joke User:Abtract said. I don't get "funny" with warnings, it's actually semi-serious business, however, this is not such a cause for concern to report you or anything. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 16:59, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Buildings in Dubai Media City

OOODDD, thank you for creating the articles for several buildings in Dubai Media City. I would like to tell you that I have issues with those articles. I personally do not think that they are needed. None of the articles you created establish notability (something that is necessary on Wikipedia). Actually, I cannot think of anything that is notable for any of the buildings you created. I would like you to hold back on creating articles about buildings in Dubai unless you can establish notability, include references, and/or make the articles longer (so that there is content in the article that is not just a copy of what is in the infobox). If you have any questions about this, please let me know. Thank you. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 19:40, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:DJSammyAtWork.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Speedy deletion of Mang Gorn Luang

A tag has been placed on Mang Gorn Luang, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

I use pywikipedia. There are some helpful pages on Meta about it. See meta:Using the python wikipediabot for more information about installation, etc. I'm going to go ahead and tag the pages with class=List and importance=NA as I have some free time to do so right now. Re: Bot Creation

Yeah, it's not easy. I can get pywikipedia working decently, for the most part, but even basic tagging was causing me issues a few days ago. Luckily, there's a Bot requests page where bot operators can fulfill requests for tagging, etc. There are quite a few active bots that are able to do Talk: tagging. Or, if you don't want to post to a noticeboard for whatever reason, you can try asking User:Betacommand or User:Soxred93, both of whom regularly do taggings for various WikiProjects. Cheers. --MZMcBride (talk) 21:22, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

AWB

Hey there. To add a project tag to a set of articles 'located' in a region of Germany, you might want to look at a category that has the area you want (e.g. Berlin would be Category:Berlin). You will get a set of articles that are under that category, but not the talk pages. To convert the pages, right-click and select "convert to talk page" and AWB will automatically change every article into the corresponding talk page. Then under 'skip', de-select Non-existent pages, or else AWB will ignore all non-existent pages. After doing that, click the start button to start tagging. Remember to hit "preview" before you hit the "save" button. Use "ignore" to manually skip a page (e.g. a Germany project tag is already on the page). Cheers. Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Could you please explain a bit of your reasoning for adding {{WPSpace}} with spaceflight=yes to the talk pages for articles about craters? These craters are in space, yes, so WPSpace makes sense. Stub status on Botnang

Having read the quality scale for articles, I'd be interested to know the rationale for rating the above article as a stub. I noticed it says on the talk page tag "If you rated the article please give a short summary at comments to explain the ratings and/or to identify the strengths and weaknesses.". Could you possible provide some comments as I set up the page and am keen to do anything to raise the standard. Considering it's a translation of the German article, which is about as comprehensive as you can get for a suburb with 13,000 inhabitants, I'm surprised it's only a "stub". moving pages

Hi, OOODDD. I noticed you recently moved Steve McQueen to Steve McQueen (actor), and the dab page to Steve McQueen. While there are primary topic issues with that move, I wanted to remind you to never move a page via cut and paste, which you did for moving the dab page to "Steve McQueen". The problem is that all pages must be attached to their edit histories, because that is the means through which contributors are given credit (a key part of the GDFL, through which Wikipedia is licensed). If there are pages that should be moved, but a redirect stands in the way, you can always list it at Wikipedia:Requested moves, where an admin can delete the redirect and move the page. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, either here, or on my talk page. Regards, Parsecboy (talk) 00:30, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

List of astroids:physics?

Last week you tagged the 2000 or so subpages of list of asteroids as belong to project physics. I do not really see what asteroids have to do with (astro)physics. On a more general note, I don't think it is wise to tag all those subpages with project tags as it severly pollutes the various wikiproject categories. It would probably be better to just tag the main page once. (TimothyRias (talk) 11:54, 18 September 2008 (UTC))

WikiProject France -- WikiProject French communes

FYI- you probably shouldn't change this template any more, because both projects are independent from one another- in other words, both templates should be on all commune pages. Don't worry about going back to fix it, I intend on re-adding WikiProject France tags to all of those pages. Thanks.   jj137 (talk) 19:19, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

CSI episode pages

I encourage you to read WP:EPISODE before reverting any more CSI episode pages. Pages on individual episodes should only be created when there is enough real-world, independent, reliable sources that show notability. IMDb and tv.com don't show notability as they are basically directory listings.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 17:09, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of List of Qassam rocket attacks, 2007

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of Qassam rocket attacks, 2007, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Cat tagging

Please do not tag the categories within the scope of WP:RUSSIA and untag the ones you've already tagged. The consensus within the project so far has been not to tag non-articles (cats, images, redirects, etc.). Thanks!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 15:41, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Not sure if you noticed the message above before you removed it from your page, but I would really appreciate it if you could fix the mess you've created. Having someone to clean up after yourself is just bad manners, and, in this case, it's a lot of cleanup. Question

On October 13 I noticed you assessed many Ohio townships as mid-importance for WikiProject Ohio. They actually generally fall under low importance. The only exception would be those with over 10,00 residents. Which I don't believe any have. So either you can revert your edits or I will. Thanks for your time. §hep¡Talk to me! 01:28, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Seems you don't clean up after yourslef from the page history. I'll have a bot fix it, just don't go blindly tagging articles I don't want to have to spend my night fixing your screwups. §hep¡Talk to me! 01:41, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Join the club. The guy hardly ever seems to comment on his screw-ups (which there are plenty—I recently had to clean up over 200 tags after him after asking him twice; both times I was conveniently ignored). Let's keep an eye on this guy. Ability to waste other people's time is hardly an asset.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 01:50, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to file for his/her AWB rights to be squashed.

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:DJSammyAtWork.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. §hep¡Talk to me! 02:53, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

AWB access

I've temporarily removed your AWB access for reasons outlined at WT:AWB#Removal of rights. Please join the discussion here so that we could find a better solution to this problem. Cheers, MaxSem(Han shot first!) 05:01, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

AWB

If you had cleaned your messes, I wouldn't have filed anything. It's the fact that other people seem to be following you around with a mop and bucket. §hep¡Talk to me! 22:19, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:DJSammyAtWork.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned non-free media (Image:DJSammyAtWork.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:DJSammyAtWork.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:11, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Something you needed?

Hi. I may have accidentally just deleted as housekeeping something you needed. :) I saw Brienne-le-Château/Temp and presumed it was a misplaced revision of the copyright version. (Since these are usually written in the talk subspace, as in Talk:Brienne-le-Château/Temp. I noticed belatedly that you had actually created this temp page long after that copyright violation was addressed. Since the page was created in September and has not been edited since, though, I thought I would ask you about it rather than just automatically restoring it. Is this temporary page something that is needed? If so, please accept my apologies, and I will happily restore it, though we should move it elsewhere per Wikipedia:Subpage#Disallowed uses. I'll watch your page for a few days in case you'd like to respond. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:28, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Repost of Frontenac Mall

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Frontenac Mall, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Frontenac Mall was previously deleted as a result of an articles for deletion (or another XfD)

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Frontenac Mall, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself.
