Why proposing deletion of File:BooWooRecordLabel.jpg.
Hello. Why are you proposing deletion of File:BooWooRecordLabel.jpg? It qualifies for fair use as follows: non-free album cover Bubbatex (talk) 20:09, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
- As I wrote in the nomination the rationale was lacking some information necessary to determine if the image meets all ten of the non-free content criteria. If all ten can't be established then the image cannot be retained, it appears now that someone has added the necessary information. Nthep (talk) 20:16, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
- OK, then remove it from the nomination list.Bubbatex (talk) 20:31, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

Please stop removing the reference i added on Shri ram college of commerce
Add it in a meaningful way rather than just appearing to promote the college. Nthep (talk) 17:22, 12 February 2017 (UTC)
Why don't you assist me then? The truth as it is without appearing to glorify or promote the college? Because the truth itself seems to glorify the college because of it's achievements. Help me or suggest a way to make it more neutral. Skipper7790 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:40, 12 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Skipper7790: if you added something like "In India Today's annual surveys of commerce college courses SRCC has been consistently rated among the top three in the country since the surveys commenced in 1998" and then use this link as a reference for that statement, then it might be acceptable - I say might because others might consider the whole sentence nothing but promotional and delete it anyway. Just adding a link as you did is definitely promotional because you are not applying any context to it. Nthep (talk) 15:33, 13 February 2017 (UTC)
@Nthep Umm.thanks for the help. I will just leave it as it is. You chaps probably know best. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skipper7790 (talk • contribs) 15:52, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

March Madness 2017
G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:
- tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
- updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
- creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.
For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:23, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

- A recent RfC has redefined how articles on schools are evaluated at AfD. Specifically, secondary schools are not presumed to be notable simply because they exist.
- AfDs that receive little participation should now be closed like an expired proposed deletion, following a deletion process RfC.
- Defender, HakanIST, Matiia and Sjoerddebruin are our newest stewards, following the 2017 steward elections.
- The 2017 appointees for the Ombudsman commission are Góngora, Krd, Lankiveil, Richwales and Vogone. They will serve for approximately 1 year.
- A recent query shows that only 16% of administrators on the English Wikipedia have enabled two-factor authentication. If you haven't already enabled it please consider doing so.
- Cookie blocks should be deployed to the English Wikipedia soon. This will extend the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user after they switch accounts under a new IP.
- A bot will now automatically place a protection template on protected pages when admins forget to do so.

Wakefield Trinity redirects
The recent change back to 'Wakefield Trinity' from 'Wakefield Trinity Wildcats' is exactly what prompted me to address the redirects (though it's been bugging me for some time), there are so many articles with so many issues, and different redirects, e.g. 'Wakefield Wildcats' (i.e. no 'Trinity', and hence an invalid name), it would be a life-long task to get the articles correct… at least this way, once I get articles with wiki-links that are either; Wakefield Trinity, or Wakefield Trinity Wildcats I can then check that the latter is the correct usage only for 1999 though to 2016. Help/advice request
Hi, could you please take a look at these edits to GameTV. They appear to me to be from someone with a dislike for rugby league and/or Toronto Wolfpack, so a possible WP:COI issue maybe? Either way, the valid sourced information about the channel broadcasting Wolfpack games in Canada should not be getting removed, though anymore reverts by myself could be judged as edit warring, so a third party input by a administrator with some knowledge of the subject would be ideal! :) Skemcraig (talk) 22:50, 8 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Skemcraig: Your information is sourced (although not a particularly good source, see Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 220#Daily Mail RfC) but I can see Musimax's point and the addition does look a bit like trivia. What is the context of GameTV showing Wolfpack games? Is it the station's first foray into live sport - not just RL but any? Are they the only Canadian station showing the games? Basically why is this out of the ordinary? Nthep (talk) 16:09, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
- The user in question has re-added the information themselves, so the point is now mute. Thanks for the reply though. Skemcraig (talk) 21:38, 12 March 2017 (UTC)

Thanks Nthep. Kindly have a look at the changes made to Draft:YGLP and move & review it. There should not have been any copyright concerns at first place as the entire article was written by me in my own words and certain pages from external websites were referred to illustrate factual accuracy. There was no copy-paste. Anyway, with full respect to your omissions, I have re-written the basic segments from my understanding of YGLP from various news sources. Regards. - @DynamoDegsy: "per previous comments" referred to my edit summary when I removed them previously (I should have been more explicit about that - sorry), but I've opened it to a wider discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rugby league#Team navboxes in Challenge Cup articles as to why I am against them. - Following a discussion on the backlog of unpatrolled files, consensus was found to create a new user right for autopatrolling file uploads. Implementation progress can be tracked on Phabricator.
- The BLPPROD grandfather clause, which stated that unreferenced biographies of living persons were only eligible for proposed deletion if they were created after March 18, 2010, has been removed following an RfC.
- An RfC has closed with consensus to allow proposed deletion of files. The implementation process is ongoing.
- After an unsuccessful proposal to automatically grant IP block exemption, consensus was found to relax the criteria for granting the user right from needing it to wanting it.
- After a recent RfC, moved pages will soon be featured in a queue similar to Special:NewPagesFeed and require patrolling. Moves by administrators, page movers, and autopatrolled editors will be automatically marked as patrolled.
- Cookie blocks have been deployed. This extends the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user if they switch accounts, even under a new IP.

Can you now check the picture of Faydee? Plum3600 (talk) 23:04, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Plum3600: sorry but you seem to be misunderstanding the criteria. Why can't a public domain image of Faydee be obtained? The image you have uploaded is copyright and is not licenced under a public domain licence The criteria is not that you can't find one but that one could not be located or created. So until you can establish that it is not possible for someone to take a photo of him and licence it under a suitable licence, the image you have added fails to meet the non-free content criteria. - Correct I deleted it, but as straightforward vandalism not as an attack page - I did read what you wrote on the talk page first. Please do not create joke articles like this again. Nthep (talk) 21:58, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
Sadly, I have to disagree with the edits you have recently made to Frederick Talbot. By removing the links to the Challenge Cup you have left only red-links, although these are appropriate to inform editors that a relevant article needs to be created, they are of no use to casual readers, indeed in the Wikipedia App, they produce false links, causing users to be frustrating redirected to articles that do not yet exist. Also, having the text in the form, e.g. 1897 Challenge Cup, allows the reader, often a layperson, the option of either linking to Challenge Cup generally, or to a particular years' Challenge Cup specifically. In addition, with the increase of users accessing Wikipedia via the app, or Android internet browsers on small screened devices, I believe that "overlinking" is not actually a negative, but an actual positive, as it allows the user to quickly find a link without scrolling up-and-down the screen to find a suitable link. Best regards DynamoDegsy (talk) 20:45, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
- Well we will have to agree to disagree, your construction to me appears clumsy especially when the same links are appearing in the same paragraph and scrolling up and down is not an issue on any device. If you want to have the manual of style on overlinking amended then you should start a discussion in the appropriate venue. Or we could also just create the article on the missing Challenge Cup years and for the time being redirect it to the appropriate season article section on the CC and then the bit "during the 19xx-xx season" isn't even needed.
- 1. It's not the physical scrolling, its finding that appropriate link within the rest of the text that's the issue. 2. Red-links produce false blue-links in the Wikipedia App, causing users to be frustrating redirected to articles that do not yet exist. 3. Also… having the text in the form, e.g. 1897 Challenge Cup, allows the reader, often a layperson, the option of either linking to the Challenge Cup generally, or to a particular years' Challenge Cup specifically. 4. Please point me to appropriate venue to discuss overlinking (I purposely avoid such places as they're full of the self-absorbed, self-aggrandizing, and self-important, who are more concerned with petty policing, than with creating content… and they wonder why the number of Wikipedia editors continues to fall… Well it's no wonder to me). DynamoDegsy (talk) 22:03, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
- Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Linking is the place to start although you may need to go the WP:Village pump (policy). If I want to find out about the Challenge Cup as opposed to the 1936–37 cup competition then at worst I click through to the 36–37 page where the general article should be linked pretty close to the top, not overwhelming the lay reader with too many choices in the first page they read. Also 1936–37 Challenge Cup does not visually give the reader an indication that it is two distinct links and if they are used to clicking on any part of a link might end up at not the one they wanted. If articles like the one on Talbot are phrased; "Talbot appeared in three Challenge Cup finals, the first the 1933 final..." then there is no confusion that there are a number of distinct links to the general article on the competition and the indiviual season articles but it still doesn't need Challenge Cup linking three times in one short section.
- As an aside can you explain the purpose of constructions like this James "Jimmy" Gill Apart from placing two redlinks, which runs contrary to your own argument above about readability on the WP app, if the articles are ever created then one should just be a redirect to the other. Surely James Gill suffices? I might be missing something but I just can't see the purpose of the way you wrote it. Nthep (talk) 22:32, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
- Those who can do, those who can't teach, those who can't teach "teach" physical education, and those who can't "teach" physical education self-appoint as a petty policeman. I'm not about to be lectured to by a 10-year Wikipedia "veteran" with a meagre 144-articles, perhaps if you spent more time creating content, and spent a little less time on your User page, you might begin to understand that articles, particularly sports articles grow organically as information from programmes, and newspapers, etc. becomes available. Is there any chance you could fuck-off and annoy someone else… or better still create some fucking valuable content? Scant regards DynamoDegsy (talk) 06:43, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
