Upstar AFD close
NA1000, if you didn't know what SwisterTwister (talk · contribs) and I meant, why didn't you ask us before making assumptions? I stated that the subject didn't meet the WP:ORG guidelines and that's what I meant. Certainly the sources aren't out there, and Swister's comments suggest that s/he has observed the same. I'd initially PRODed it based on the lack of adequate sourcing both in the article and in the wider world, and the sources added when it was dePRODed did not assuage the notability concerns because the reliable sources just don't exist. Please undo this foolish close. –Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 21:30, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Roscelese: I don't view my close at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Upstar as foolish, but I do view it as accurate. AfD discussion closures are based upon Wikipedia guidelines and policies and the strengths of arguments relative to these policies. The discussion was open for three weeks and only one other user participated. Your nomination read as being based exclusively upon the "sources added" to the article and upon text in the article stating "low brand recognition", which you conferred to non-notability, stating that the company is therefore "ie. is not notable". However, per WP:NEXIST, topic notability is not based upon the state of sourcing in articles, and low recognition does not automatically deem a topic non-notable per Wikipedia's standards.
- The only other contributor's !vote also did not state whether or not additional sources searches were performed, basing non-notability in part because it's a "somewhat newly started company" and the notion of there being "nothing convincing for the applicable notability". In another recent AfD discussion here, this user stated that "... nothing at all basically convincing and searches were not particularly necessary also since the article itself says it all". Since the user apparently did not perform source searches for that AfD discussion, and used a similar rationale in this discussion stating "... nothing convincing for the applicable notability" without stating whether or not source searches were performed, it would be foolish for me to assume that searches to verify non-notability were performed for this topic.
- Ultimately, the rationales for deletion were not strong enough relative to guidelines and policy to persuade me to delete the article, and per WP:RELIST, articles should typically only be relisted twice. The discussion was closed with no prejudice against speedy renomination, so I recommend simply renominating it for deletion using a more specific deletion rationale, based more clearly Wikipedia upon guidelines and policies. June 2016 Guild of Copy Editors Newsletter
Guild of Copy Editors June 2016 News
Hello everyone, welcome to the June 2016 GOCE newsletter. It's been a few months since we sent one out; we hope y'all haven't forgotten about the Guild! Your coordinators have been busy behind the scenes as usual, though real life has a habit of reducing our personal wiki-time. The May backlog reduction drive, the usual coordinating tasks and preparations for the June election are keeping us on our toes! May drive: Thanks to everyone who participated in last month's record-setting backlog reduction drive. Of the 29 people who signed up, 16 copyedited at least one article, 197 copyedits were recorded on the drive page, and the copyedit backlog fell below 1,500 for the first time! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. June Blitz: this one-week copy-editing blitz will occur from 12 June through 18 June; the themes will be video games and Asian geography. Coordinator elections: It's election time again; how quickly they seem to roll around! Nominations for the next tranche of Guild coordinators, who will serve a six-month term that begins at 00:01 UTC on 1 July and ends at 23:59 UTC on 31 December, opens at 00:01 UTC on 1 June and closes at 23:59 UTC on 15 June. Voting takes place between 00:01 UTC on 16 June and 23:59 UTC on 30 June. If you'd like to assist behind the scenes, please consider stepping forward; self-nominations are welcomed and encouraged. All Wikipedia editors in good standing are eligible; remember it's your Guild, and it doesn't run itself! Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Miniapolis and Baffle gab1978. To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.

Regarding your comment on https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Komal_Jha
Hi There !
I see you have left a comment stating that the sources related to the subject meet the WP:BASIC criteria.
Do you suggest me to go ahead and resubmit for publishing the article? Please let me know.
Thanks ! Ch.th (talk) 06:15, 14 May 2016 (UTC)
- @Ch.th: Yes. Enough sources that provide detailed coverage about the subject are available per WP:BASIC, which states (in part), "If the depth of coverage in any given source is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability; trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources may not be sufficient to establish notability". North America1000 18:13, 14 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hi There ! I have resubmitted for publishing the article as per your advice. Please review and get it published. Should you need me to update anything else, please let me know.
- Thanks Ch.th (talk) 19:05, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
- As a contributor to the draft at this point, I will defer to a non-involved reviewer. North America1000 19:26, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
- Could you please let me know how is it going to happen? Do you anticipate any further potential changes to the article? Or is it good to go for publishing? Thanks ! Ch.th (talk) 20:42, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
- Since you resubmitted it for review, an AfC reviewer will eventually come along to review the submission. I don't know if anyone will come along to improve the draft more or not. North America1000 20:45, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hi There, Still there have not been any reviews on this article since last two days. Could you review and publish please? Thanks Ch.th (talk) 20:04, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- It usually takes a week or more for a reviewer to come along (on average). Again, since I have edited the draft a bit, I'll defer to another uninvolved reviewer. North America1000 11:00, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- Again, SwisterTwister has rejected the submission stating Notability and is asking me to wait till the actress's career advances. Need your guidance on the same. Please look at it once. Ch.th (talk) 20:06, 30 May 2016 (UTC)

While I can understand your relisting to allow others to comment, the issues brought forth in the early delete votes of Sheepythemouse and SwisterTwister have been addressed and the nominator himself has changed his stance based upon improvements. Though it would be great if they did, I do not expect either Sheepythemouse or SwisterTwister to return to admit they were initially mistaken in their disregarding of guideline and, as AFDs are be to be determined through application of policy and guideline and not through a simple count of heads, if anyone were to close it early, I would not expect it to be taken to WP:DRV. Thanks and be well. Schmidt, Michael Q. 17:20, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hi MichaelQSchmidt Yes, I'm well aware that discussion closures are based on the strengths of arguments relative to guidelines and policies. I have to point this out to folks sometimes myself. In this case, it seemed prudent to relist, because after your post a user stated that the links you presented "are still questionable" (et al.), and another delete !vote is already present, although it doesn't state much, based upon the notion of "per WP:NFILM". If I were to have closed this as "keep", it's likely someone would have objected. North America1000 16:30, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
Hi, it's me, Sheepythemouse. I did look up sourcing for this, but as I do not speak Nepali, I was unable to judge whether the sourcing was adequate or not? I don't think that a new user should be expected to apologize for such a small mistake. This is the kind of behavior that discourages new users from returning to Wikipedia. I will say that I have learned from it, but at the time I could not find adequate sourcing that I, as an English speaker, could read for a upcoming Nepali film. I'd also advise you, in the future, to not assume that just because one is a new user, one would not admit to mistakes, or read comments about oneself that I, as a new user, find a little bit off putting. I do know about the guidelines for deletion of certain types of articles, and being in the wrong about one film is something I admit to doing, but not something that needs to be displayed on both the deletion page and this user's talk page. Sheepythemouse (talk) 20:20, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Sheepythemouse: Please don't be discouraged; my analysis above is simply a response to MichaelQSchmidt's comment here regarding my rationale for relisting the AfD discussion. My response is not meant to be a personal critique of you or anyone else. North America1000 20:25, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

- I've notified MichaelQSchmidt about continued commentary here, to allow them to provide a response. North America1000 20:53, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

- @Sheepythemouse: don't take it personally, as each day is a learning experience... and thank you for granting that you cannot read or judge Nepali sources. That admission is appreciated and you are always welcome to return to the discussion to reply or modify your... just as I have on occasion done in other AFDs. I am saddened by editors who never admit to a weakness, and so was here simply speaking about the relisting. There is no shame in rescuing oneself from a discussion if feels unable to evaluate a topic or sources under WP:NONENG. Schmidt, Michael Q. 21:27, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

Torkil Veyhe
Hello. You deleted the article about Torkil Veyhe after a discussion in November 2015. He has recently won his first UCI points at the Himmerland Rundt in Denmark, which is part of the Europe Tour 2016 and a few days ago he won a cycling race in Denmark called Marcello Bergamo Cup (also known as Pinsecuppen in Danish), he won one of the stages (the second of three) and was the winner of the general classification. He won against cyclists like Lasse Norman Hansen og Matti Breschel. I don't know if these recent results change anything regarding his notability or not? --EileenSanda (talk) 11:14, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- @EileenSanda: Do you have any other sources than those listed above? If the subject meets WP:NCYCLING or WP:BASIC, I can userfy the article for you to work on. North America1000 20:08, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- Here is another source, this one is in English: Firstcycling.com --EileenSanda (talk) 21:31, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
@EileenSanda: It's still unclear if the subject meets WP:NCYCLING, listed in part below:
A male cyclist is presumed notable if he:
- rode professionally in a UCI World Tour;
- rode in a Grand Tour or Monument;
- competed at the Olympics or UCI World Championships or UCI World Cup;
- won Gold at an international multi-sport event (games) (also includes races like the World University Cycling Championship);
- won a UCI category race (minimum classification 1.1 / 2.1, including Continental and National Championships).
Source review
- This source states that he competed in the 2016 Himmerland Rundt, which is a UCI event, but this does not appear to be a UCI world tour, UCI World Championships or UCI World Cup.
- Winning the Marcello Bergamo Cup does not appear to meet WP:NCYCLING
- Unless I'm missing something, the events the subject competed in per this link you provided does not appear to be congruent with WP:NCYCLING. North America1000 21:40, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- Ok, let's wait then. Perhaps he will compete in one of the types of races you mention later this year. Thanks for your reply. EileenSanda (talk) 22:31, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- There are some news now regarding Torkil Veyhe. He was number two in 2016 Sønderborg Post-Cup. The ranking list of the Danish cycling website Feltet.dk says now, that Torkil Veyhe is number 5 in Denmark with 78 points, in front of Lasse Norman Hansen. His team is also one of the best in Denmark right now, his team is number five, in front of the continental team Team Soigneur-Copenhagen Pro Cycling. This Faroese website writes about him, saying he is one of the best cyclists in Denmark. Is he still not notable enough for the English Wikipedia? --EileenSanda (talk) 21:13, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- @EileenSanda: At this point, I may not analyze this subject further, because I am busy working on other matters. If you feel the subject meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines, you can create a draft for the subject at Draft:Torkil Veyhe and then submit it to Articles for creation, where your submission can be reviewed. An easy way to do this is to place {{Userspace draft}} atop the draft page and then select the "Submit your draft for review" link. North America1000 20:26, 4 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Northamerica1000: Hello. No, I am not writing a draft, I already wrote an article about him which was deleted by you after a discussion. Either he is notable or he is not. Today he was number two in the Post Cup in Hasle, Bornholm, just after Troels Vinther. The race was not a UCI-race, but a category A race. He won gold at the Island Games, but in the deletion-discussion last year, it was concluded that the Island Games did not meet number 4 in the rules: won Gold at an international multi-sport event (games) (also includes races like the World University Cycling Championship); - so he is probably not notable according to those criteria you mention above. --EileenSanda (talk) 18:19, 5 June 2016 (UTC)
- The Danish cycling website Feltet.dk writes about Torkil Veyhe right now. They say that no one had expected that he would be among the first three riders on the goal today. At the end of the article they say that Veyhe will compete at the Danish Championship in time trial in less than three weeks from now. --EileenSanda (talk) 18:31, 5 June 2016 (UTC)
- Last weekend Veyhe and his team competed in two UCI 1.2 races. He was number 9 in GP Horsens yesterday and won the Mountains classification. On Saturday he was number 31 at the Fyen Rundt. Yesterday the Danish TV-station TV2 Øst told the story about his team, the headline was Amatørhold i verdensklasse (World class amateur team). --EileenSanda (talk) 06:22, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
- @EileenSanda: I understand where you're coming from, but do these sources equate to qualification for a Wikipedia article relative to WP:NCYCLING, WP:BASIC or WP:GNG? I'm not fluent enough in Danish to discern the depth of coverage about the subject in this source you provided above. This source provides what could be considered as significant coverage, but it's unclear if this would be considered as an independent, reliable source as per Wikipedia's standards. This source you provided only provides mentions, and its reliability is also unclear. North America1000 20:32, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

An easy way to do this is to place {{Userspace draft}} atop the draft page and then select the "Submit your draft for review" link. North America1000 20:26, 4 June 2016 (UTC)
I think that WP:GNG applies to Veyhe now. TV2 i one of the largest Danish TV-channels in Denmark, it is private and has also local channels, this one the TV2 Øst is for Eastern Jutlandia with Aarhus, where the team comes from. The other source is Feltet.dk, which was established in 2003 and three years later became the latgest cycling-internet website of Scandinavia. I would say that it is reliable and independent. --EileenSanda (talk) 21:18, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
- Here is another Danish source Cykelmagasinet.dk which discussed favourites before the Fyen Rundt. First they mention four riders from pro-teams, and the then the article says:
- "En af de stærkste i år har været Team WeBike-CK Aarhus' Torkil Veyhe, der senest blev nummer to i Post Cuppen på Bornholm og vandt Pinsecuppen. Formen virker til at være vanvittig god, så hvis løbet bliver hårdt, så ser vi sandsynligvis Veyhe med fremme." which means:
- "One of the strongest this year has been Torkil Veyhe from Team WeBike-CK Aarhus, whose last results were number two in the Post Cup on Bornholm and winner of the Pinsecuppen. He seems to be in extremely good condition, so if the race gets tuff, we are likely to se Veyhe in the front." --EileenSanda (talk) 21:37, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
- Here is another Danish source Aarhus Cyclebane which has a photo of Veyhe with this text:
- "Team WeBike - C.K. Aahrus' Torkil Veyhe, blev hædret for sin samlede sejr i Marcello Bergamo Cuppen, sammen med sine holdkammerater." Which means:
- "Torkil Veyhe from Team WeBike – C.K. Aahrus was honoured for his victory of the General classification in the Marcello Bergamo Cup, along with his team mates." --EileenSanda (talk) 23:57, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
@EileenSanda: At this time, I'm not going to perform more research regarding this subject, because I am working on other matters. If you would like, I can userfy the article for you to User:EileenSanda/Torkil Veyhe or another suitable title of your choosing, where you can improve the content to demonstrate that the subject meets notability guidelines. After this, if you feel that the subject meets notability guidelines, you can then place {{Userspace draft}} atop the page and then select the "Submit your draft for review" link, which will submit the entry to Articles for creation, where your submission can be reviewed. I strongly recommend taking this route, whereby an uninvolved, third-party reviewer can assess the notability of the subject. Note that if the article were to be republished verbatim in the state that it was in at the time of deletion, it would qualify for speedy deletion per WP:G4 as a recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion. North America1000 23:52, 19 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Northamerica1000: -that sound like a good idea. Can you create that page for me with the content of the deleted page? Thanks. EileenSanda (talk) 05:54, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

Thoughts on this article?
Hi! Have seen you recently on AfD. Would like an independent read on Escape The Room Challenge. It has local media coverage in reliable outlets. Two that say that it's going to open soon and is part of the global trend of escape rooms. One that says that a new addition may be particularly advanced. But I couldn't really tell you why it's notable. Thanks for the advice. Chris vLS (talk) 17:00, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Chrisvls: Interesting article. I'll pass on assessing it's notability, but if you feel it's non-notable, you could propose a merge to Escape room or West Chester Township, Butler County, Ohio, both of which presently have no mention of the topic other than links I just added to the See also sections of those articles. A merge would serve to enhance and improve those articles. North America1000 20:45, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

Disappointed that you chose to delete the impartial information on this company. Is that all you do? Just delete things? Do you add any value to this website? Good for you, you saved Wikipedia's hard disk from 500 bytes of information storage !! Maybe 20 people a year may have benefit by this. But you have seen that Wikipedia has just saved .000001 cents. Congratulations! However, your actions have cost my annual donation ($30-60) to Wikipedia and any further edits from me. Add another feather to your cap for protecting the world from learning about a company with over 1000 workers in it. Your fellow elitist editors will also be proud of you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by StenchWeasel (talk • contribs) 16:51, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

- @StenchWeasel: I have no problem with recreation of the article. If you do so, just be sure to include information about the significance or importance of the company. The version you published was deleted per WP:A7 per lacking such information, and it was basically just a directory listing-style entry about the company. As an administrator, I have to follow the rules, so please don't take this matter personally. North America1000 22:00, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

Recent changes
- The ORES service has now moved to a new location. This should make it easier to use ORES. The ORES review service is now available as a beta feature on Wikidata and Persian Wikipedia. ORES is an artificial intelligence system for Wikimedia wikis to help editors. [6]
- The order of wikis in collapsed cross-wiki notifications was different than when the list was expanded. This is now fixed. [7]
- A new category for tracking pages with math errors was added: Category:Pages with math errors. [8]
Problems
- The Wikimedia Etherpad crashed on June 23. Some edits done that day have been lost. They can be found at etherpad-restore.wikimedia.org for another few days. [9][10]
Changes this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 28 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 29 June. It will be on all wikis from 30 June (calendar).
- The way to mark notifications as read or unread will be changed to be more clear. [11]
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on 28 June at 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The Collaboration team at the Wikimedia Foundation will look at developing better tools for edit review. This is because research suggests we scare away newcomers who want to help. [12]
- An e-mail from the Editing Department explains the technical work that is planned and being researched for the future. Items include better wikitext and visual editing, prompts for edits, language improvements, annotations, and meta-data separation. [13]
- The sorting of Notifications into the two fly-out menus is going to change on July 5 to 7. Bundled notifications should be easier to explore and mark as read individually. [14][15][16]
- From 29 June git.wikimedia.org (running Gitblit) will redirect all requests to Phabricator. The vast majority of requests should be correctly redirected. [17]
- Catalan and Polish Wikipedias will have Wikidata descriptions added to articles in the mobile view by default. This is currently a beta option for the mobile versions. This might come to other wikis later. [18]
