Quick Question
I have a question, however, please don't feel like you have to help me if you don't want to. I recently made a sandbox for another shopping mall near me, but a user who lived in St. Cloud didn't feel like the article would pass WP:NOTABILITY or whatever he said. I was wondering if you could take a look at it, here it is: User:Carbrera/MSM. Thanks! Carbrera (talk) 05:16, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Carbrera: Upon a review of independent sources in the draft, only one provides what could be considered significant coverage. There's also WP:AUD to keep in consideration. Has the topic received any additional coverage that is significant and independent of the topic? North America1000 19:30, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi North America, I was wondering if I could briefly enlist your help to verify 22 edits made by my bot. Simply look at the 22 edits and report if they contain any errors, or not. The bot approval process is stalled because there is no one helping. You don't need to know anything about bots, just report if the 22 edits are accurate, or not. The page is here, last section "Edits needing verification". If your busy or don't want to do it understood. Thanks for any help. -- GreenC 17:57, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

Problems
- Wikimedia tested a new data center last week. This meant that the wikis could be read but not edited for 45 minutes on April 19 and for 20 minutes on April 21. [6]
- When the data center was tested, new edits were not shown in the recent changes log for 20 minutes. They are in the logs now. You can read more about how to find the edits.
- Unread notifications were sometimes counted incorrectly. This has now been fixed. [7]
Changes this week
- Wikimedia Commons will have better access to Wikidata. They can use data from any page on Wikidata on any page on Commons. This will happen on April 26. [8]
- It will be easier to choose if you want to watch files you have uploaded with the upload wizard. [9]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from April 26. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from April 27. It will be on all wikis from April 28 (calendar).
Meetings
- You can join the next meeting with the VisualEditor team. During the meeting, you can tell developers which bugs you think are the most important. The meeting will be on April 26 19:00 (UTC). See how to join.
Future changes
- The "Save page" button when you edit will be called "Publish" instead. This is to help new editors understand what it does. It already works like this on some wikis. [10]

WikiProject X Newsletter • Issue 8
This month:
In the last issue of the WikiProject X Newsletter, I discussed the upcoming Wikipedia Requests system: a central database for outstanding work on Wikipedia. I am pleased to announce Wikipedia Requests is live! Its purpose is to supplement automatically generated lists, such as those from SuggestBot, Reports bot, or Wikidata. It is currently being demonstrated on WikiProject Occupational Safety and Health (which I work on as part of my NIOSH duties) and WikiProject Women scientists.
Adding a request is as simple as filling out a form. Just go to the Add form to add your request. Adding sources will help ensure that your request is fulfilled more quickly. And when a request is fulfilled, simply click "mark as complete" and it will be removed from all the lists it's on. All at the click of a button! (If anyone is concerned, all actions are logged.)
With this new service is a template to transclude these requests: {{Wikipedia Requests}}. It's simple to use: add the template to a page, specifying article=
, category=
, or wikiproject=
, and the list will be transcluded. For example, for requests having to do with all living people, just do {{Wikipedia Requests|category=Living people}}
. Use these lists on WikiProjects but also for edit-a-thons where you want a convenient list of things to do on hand. Give it a shot!
The value of Wikipedia Requests comes from being a centralized database. The long work to migrating individual lists into this combined list is slowly underway. As of writing, we have 883 open tasks logged in Wikipedia Requests. We need your help building this list.
If you know of a list of missing articles, or of outstanding tasks for existing articles, that you would like to migrate to this new system, head on over to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Requests#Transition project and help out. Doing this will help put your list in front of more eyes—more than just your own WikiProject.
WikiProject X maintains a database that associates article talk pages (and draft talk pages) with WikiProjects. This database powers many of the reports that Reports bot generates. However, until very recently, this database was not made available to others who might find its data useful. It's only common sense to open up the database and let others build tools with it.
And indeed: Citation Hunt, the game to add citations to Wikipedia, now lets you filter by WikiProject, using the data from our database.
Are you a tool developer interested in using this? Here are some details: the database resides on Tool Labs with the name s52475__wpx_p
. The table that associates WikiProjects with articles and drafts is called projectindex
. Pages are stored by talk page title but in the future this should change. Have fun!
- The work on the CollaborationKit extension continues. The extension will initially focus on reducing template and Lua bloat on WikiProjects (especially our WPX UI demonstration projects), and will from there create custom interfaces for creating and maintaining WikiProjects.
- The WikiCite meeting will be in Berlin in May. The goal of the meeting is to figure out how to build a bibliographic database for use on the Wikimedia projects. This fits in quite nicely with WikiProject X's work: we want to make it easier for people to find things to work on, and with a powerful, open bibliographic database, we can build recommendations for sources. This feature was requested by the Wikipedia Library back in September, and this meeting is a major next step. We look forward to seeing what comes out of this meeting.
Until next time,
Harej (talk) 01:29, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
Editor of the Week : nominations needed!
The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.
The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?
Please help us thank editors who display sustained patterns of excellence, working tirelessly in the background out of the spotlight, by submitting your nomination for Editor of the Week today!

Opposing TAFI noms
Hi, NA1K. I just noticed one more thing about TAFI noms, and please correct me if I am wrong: Recently you opposed several noms that were on their 20th day with no action. Doesn't that start the 21 day clock again? Whereas if no comment was left they would time out automatically the next day?
Also, the nom header says that noms are automatically removed after 21 days of inaction. But, if you tag them with "not approved" doesn't that start the 21 day clock again? The bot will see the "not approved" comment as action, and the clock will start again.
Correct me if I am wrong. This is something I noticed today. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk}
09:01, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Checkingfax: I paid no mind to the timestamps when I !voted. Yes, the clock was restarted, which seems a bit counterproductive in instances such as these. Perhaps this should be discussed at WT:TAFI, whereby such types of nominations would be qualifiable to be unapproved and archived. North America1000 12:33, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

A page that was previously deleted-and is also a redirect now to a band that has been recreated
Alex Gaskarth (Musician), I put the previously deleted tag, but not sure if that works here. The page Alex Gaskarth is a redirect to the band, not sure what type of deletion this would get. On a similar note, the page Danielle Marcot (Shining Time Station) is the same page as Danielle Marcot, which is a redirect. Again not sure what to say. Wgolf (talk) 04:35, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Wgolf: Another user declined the WP:G4 speedy deletion rationale but did not leave a reason for doing so. This is all right in this case, because the present version of the article is not substantially identical to the deleted version (I cross-checked the two). I have declined the WP:A7 speedy deletion proposal, because as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of the pop-punk band All Time Low, this is a credible claim of importance in my view. North America1000 12:14, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
- I have added sources to the article. In my view, the subject meets WP:BASIC, thus qualifying for an article at this time. North America1000 12:35, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Cheeseburger in Caseville logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. A tag has been placed on File:St Andrew's Church, Presteigne. - geograph.org.uk - 98030.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Stefan2 (talk) 21:30, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

The nominator has posted a couple of responses to your review. Can you please see whether the work done was sufficient to address your concerns, most notably about sufficient original text? Many thanks. (If you would prefer me to call for a new reviewer, I can do that instead.) BlueMoonset (talk) 16:37, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset: I'll pass on spending a bunch more time evaluating whether or not the article is factually accurate at this time, which it was not when nominated, so perhaps a "new review needed" icon would be in order. There's also additional matters to follow up on, regarding content being copied from other articles, and whether or not the article qualifies per all of this. I just don't feel like spending more time on this; too many problems, and I have other things to do. North America1000 17:14, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

wikipedia:sandbox
hello Northamerica1000, I have a question:sandbox in article I wrote letters in random trial and was subsequently made clear . I'm sorry, I will not do ever again I wanted to understand the workings of Wikipedia and subsequently bought back--İnternion (talk) 09:51, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
Question
Hello N1000. I work with the cleaning up items in Category:Wikipedia pages with incorrect protection templates well those that the bots don't get :-) . Today I noticed that there are three pics in the category. As I investigated further I found that you have placed a {{mprotected}} template on them yet when I check the logs (for example) there is no protection recorded. As I am not familiar with this new template or how what you are doing works I thought that I would ask if you know how to get those files out of the category. Redrose64 and MusikAnimal also work with the cat so they might be able to help as well. Thanks for your time. MarnetteD|Talk 18:39, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
{{mprotected}}
is not new; it's used on images that are displayed on the main page, see WP:Cascading protection. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:30, 1 May 2016 (UTC)- Okay. I should have said that it was new to me Redrose64. As you know I have been working with the category for more than a year and this is the first time that pics with this template have shown up in it so the question of how to get the them out of the category remains. Any insight would be appreciated. MarnetteD|Talk 20:42, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
- File:R-dehmel 1905.jpg is on the main page right now, in the "Did you know..." (DYK) section. File:Hypercycle-eigen.svg has been selected to appear in DYK (it's currently in Queue 4). File:St Andrew's Church, Presteigne. - geograph.org.uk - 98030.jpg was selected by PFHLai (talk · contribs) to appear on main page in the DYK section, but Nikkimaria (talk · contribs) seems to have pulled it. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:20, 1 May 2016 (UTC)

AfD error
Hi. I mis-clicked while attempting to relist a discussion, and a discussion was included at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Albums and songs by mistake. I removed the notation from the AfD discussion (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mikko Markkula), but aren't sure how to get it off the sort list. Onel5969 TT me 13:26, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) - onel5969 I've removed the AFD from the sort list for you - If you ever click those by accident just revert yourself and it'll remove it from the list :), –Davey2010Talk 13:34, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
- Duh. Don't know why I didn't try that. Guess it seemed too easy. Thanks Davey2010! Onel5969 TT me 13:41, 3 May 2016 (UTC)

Undid recent prep moves
Northamerica1000, I restored Prep 6 and Prep 2 to what they had been before your most recent moved: we need Prep 6 to be promoted to Queue 6 and then to the main page within the next six hours, so emptying Prep 6 with so little time remaining was just not a good idea.
If there are any time-sensitive hooks in Prep 6 that should not run for some reason (I didn't see any comments in the set to indicate such was the case), feel free to move them out to a later set; filling a hole or two should be easily enough done (we could raid Prep 1 if necessary). Thanks, and I hope you understand why I did this. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:44, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
- @BlueMoonset: Thanks for fixing this, and sorry I goofed there. I didn't check up at Template:Did you know/Queue first... North America1000 18:49, 5 May 2016 (UTC)
