Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2014 FIVB World Grand Prix, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hwaseong. Hey, any reason for reverting my edit? 1) the prel. round is over so past tense 2) 02 is not needed, 2 is enough 3) The volleyball template has nothing do with that article, the WC article is already linked. Kante4 (talk) 19:54, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If not, i will redo my edit later on... Kante4 (talk) 14:49, 11 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I don't want to edit the article, since I don't know, how the European teams will qualify for the Volleyball World Cup. But the European Championships 2015 are after the World Cup, so it can't be the qualification tournament. Neville Longbottom (talk) 20:12, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Dear user, since June you have been editing volleyball articles. We apreciate your hard work but there are a few things you should know. 1- Navboxex. We had a discussion about what you have been doing, reverting my edits in here, here and here. This is wrong because navbox templates should be placed only in the articles linked by that template. It means that the volleyball template should not be placed in the 2014 World Championship, but in the main World Championship article, that is linked in that template. That work for navbox templates elsewhere. I just edited again the inclusion of this navbox template for the forth time. Please discuss the subject before reverting my edits again. 2- Article ownership. Please read this policy, you really need to. Thanks for paying attention. Hello Noncommittalp. [edit]

Hey, don't update the games "live". HT is ok and then wait until it's over. Kante4 (talk) 13:38, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Another thing. The criteria for teams like Congo, Korea etc. was "finalist" so winning the tournament does not matter for the qualification. This has been discussed pretty often the last years and explained. They are listed by placement in the qualified teams section and if people want to know more, they can click on the article. So, criteria was "finalist" and this is how it should be displayed. Kante4 (talk) 10:20, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2014 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship qualification

[edit]

Hi, I hope you know what are you editing, in tables like this, teams are sorted by date and time of their qualification, it's not about AVC , it's about wikipedia, see this 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification for example. Mohsen1248 (talk) 02:48, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

In this situation, the criteria to consider is winners and runners-up. The date which teams qualified with winners and runners-up title was last day of event. If the criteria is finalists, it's OK. But, not. Moreover, I hope you know that Wikipedia doesn't have the formats for any pages. The formats come from discussion of users. Noncommittalp (talk) 03:32, 29 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It seems you have hard time to understand what I meant. Thailand mathematically qualified before Japan. by winning Vietnam on 7 September Thailand officialy made it to the world championship before the final day and before Japan. this table sorts teams with the date and time they qualified. if you check that FIFA page, they do the same. and in FIFA they use group stage and not knockout round during the qualifiers. ask for 3rd opinion or whoever you want in volleyball group. Mohsen1248 (talk) 20:12, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
honestly I really can't understand what you mean. you show me a link here 2015 Asian Women's Handball Championship so what ? South Korea is listed first, not because they won the competition, but because they won the 1st semifinal, Japan qualified second because they won the second semifinal. so what ? in tables like this teams are always sorted by the date they officially qualified for the main tournament. as simple as that. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:41, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, won semifinal was finalist. not winner or runner-up, right? 8 September 2014, both teams should qualified as winners and runners-up. 7 September 2014, both teams should qualified as final candidate. sort to date and time I understand and accept.Noncommittalp (talk) 22:50, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I still really can't understand what you mean, can you please ask someone to translate it for you ? so you are OK with the order and your problem is just with the Qualified as section ? if yes what's your proposal ? Mohsen1248 (talk) 03:01, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sort to date and time is OK, but see the table Thailand qualified as AVC pool A runner-up , qualified date 7 September. No, at the 7 September, Thailand was just the top two ranked team not runner-up. Japan was also top two not winner. But, 8 Sep they were runner-up and winner. This is problem.Noncommittalp (talk) 01:32, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Qualification

[edit]

Hey, the criteria is top two, so winning the round is not important to the qualification, so it should state "top two" instead of "winner". Date should be the date when the team qualified, not the end of the tournament. That above mentioned should be the case everywhere. Kante4 (talk) 15:04, 31 March 2015 (UTC) [reply]

2015 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship

[edit]

Hi - it's important additional information that Japan will be sending their U-23 national team. Please can you stop removing it? It's not "bias" (do you know the meaning of the word?). Just because other tournament pages do not show this information, it doesn't mean every page has to be lacking this information. The other pages need to be updated. It's like saying "all the other pages about volleyball have no info, so this page should also have no info".

Japan Volleyball Association released news specifically saying they would send their U-23 team. China Volleyball Association also released news saying that they would have a better chance of winning the tournament because Japan is not sending their national team.

It also helps avoid difficulty when using Wikipedia as a reference tool (which many people do). Japan's national team will be in Switzerland playing in the Montreux Masters. When people look, they will see that Japan is playing in China and Switzerland at the same time, which is clearly not possible. China is also playing in both tournaments, but they will send their U-23 team to Switzerland and use their "A" team in China. It's not that Japan are just choosing some young players - they are sending an entirely different official team (their U-23 team), because their "A" team is at a different tournament.

More information is good, especially if it is relevant (and it is highly relevant - Vietnam would not beat Japan normally at women's volleyball, for example - without knowing it was Japan's U-23 team, many people would just think it was a surprise result).

Thank you for understanding. I will keep adding this information until you stop removing it. 2.96.119.44 (talk) 22:25, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have been aware of this discussion and both of you have been reverting. Most volleyball articles lack of information, not tables but text. Take a look, for example 2015 Tour of California: this cycling article is well developed and was rated B. Please note that you can find yourself in California by reading the article. Volleyball need this. This is relevant, all relevant information, should be included. We can find a place for this information somewhere in the article. Not the lead, like our partnert with not account have included, but probably in the pool composition, with the necessary references. Yes, this sounds very much like someone is defending Japan for a bad result, but is ok including this information. Osplace 01:13, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree with the information which defend some team like this, but I won't remove it anymore. Sorry for my poor English. It seems good if 2.96.119.44 has user.Noncommittalp (talk) 02:01, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, i know what you want to say and it's even unreferenced. It can be written in the seperate team article next to the result. But, if it's properly cited i would not have a problem that it is added with a short info, as it's not a big deal or? ;) (Not that i agree that it NEEDS to be there and hell no if not referenced)... Where? Agreeing with Osplace. Kante4 (talk) 02:14, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Match order in 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup

[edit]

Hi, Noncommittalp. I'm Chiba ryo from Japan. Why did you undo my edit in 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup? In the website of Japan volleyball Association, these are announced so.[2] --Chiba ryo (talk) 08:09, 15 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop warring. I would like to know if both of you are experienced editors, why are you behaving like this. All you have to do is find consensus. You are still learning

[edit]

The 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup is not yours, read WP:OWNER. You have to learn the policy about Chinese and Korean names here: WP:ZHNAME and WP:NCKOREAN, then please go back to the article and fix everything that needs fixing according to the wikipedia policies, not your owns. Does the Statistics leaders section will have any reference? Osplace 14:38, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! you ever showed me the ownership page once. I know. And, a user showed me about Chinese names and Korean names. I add the names of players in surname first in section:Final Standing, individual awards, and the head of article. But, I pointed my disagreement with section statistics leaders when I edited it. Because this section had many names of many country in this category. I didn't understand why didn't the section which include people around the world use the same order. The competition page also used the same format. In the section which had only the Chineses I used Chinese format.
Another question is about Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, and Persian names that hard to find what his/her names are. So, I just follow the official website of FIVB that the national federation sent most right names of players. And, I think it should be official name because of FIVB sport regulation version 2015 about maybe section:register. I can't remember all.

One more, it is not relate to the topic, Form FIVB sport regulation, the pool composition relate to match schedule. FIVB use the position of pool composition to match up teams in each competition dates by berger table. But, I'm not sure about world grand prix. So, I think it is necessary to use original composition.
the reference of statistics leader is at section External links. Some user add, so I didn't add ref.Noncommittalp (talk) 15:33, 8 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Names according official rosters is almost always possible in volleyball. We almost in every tournament have access to either a roster page or match reports, (P2), and official names are recorded correctly there. Remember, you should never use WP:OR. Policies about names are not restricted to use with or without other names from different places. Always respect the policies. I do not understand the question about pool composition, but you seem to be stuck with it. Please be bold and let other editors offer ideas about everything. Every article is free to edit for anyone, and they will be edited, even if you do not like the way it looks like, be bold.--Osplace 02:28, 9 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I understand about the names. I just think your links is Chinese name and Korean name like Arialslyterin gave me. Convention name like this I can understand. I'm sorry I did't see thoroughly. About pool composition, I stuck because of an evident I found. Sport regulation section 7.2 page 20. Pool composition effect competition schedule. OrphanReferenceFixer: Help on reversion

[edit]

Hi there! I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. Recently, you reverted my fix to Volleyball at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's European qualification.

If you did this because the references should be removed from the article, you have misunderstood the situation. Most likely, the article originally contained both <ref name="foo">...</ref> and one or more <ref name="foo"/> referring to it. Someone then removed the <ref name="foo">...</ref> but left the <ref name="foo"/>, which results in a big red error in the article. I replaced one of the remaining <ref name="foo"/> with a copy of the <ref name="foo">...</ref>; I did not re-insert the reference to where it was deleted, I just replaced one of the remaining instances. What you need to do to fix it is to make sure you remove all instances of the named reference so as to not leave any big red error.

If you reverted because I made an actual mistake, please be sure to also correct any reference errors in the page so I won't come back and make the same mistake again. Also, please post an error report at User talk:AnomieBOT so my operator can fix me! If the error is so urgent that I need to be stopped, also post a message at User:AnomieBOT/shutoff/OrphanReferenceFixer. Thanks! 2017 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship venue

[edit]

The tournament will be held in Metro Manila. Let me clarify my edit. According to this:

"Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. president Joey Romasanta said bringing the prestigious continental meet to Manila would further boost the popularity of the sport in the country and raise the bar of competition among local players." With the "prestigous continental" referring to the 2017 Senior's tournament.

You might have get confused with these quotes. "hrough the efforts of the LVPI and the help of sports patron Manny V. Pangilinan, the Philippines hosted the 1st Asian U23 Women’s Championship in Manila last May while sending a team in the Asian Seniors Women’s Championship in Beijing the following month."

As I explained in the edits, sometimes when the Philippine media and even the common people use "Manila" it refers to "Metro Manila". As you noticed the U23 tournament was hosted in Pasig despite being for marketing purposes, the host city is referred as just "Manila".Hariboneagle927 (talk) 12:46, 30 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I will let you see 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship in section:venues, pool C. The venue showed both Gdasnk and Sopot, because the stadium located in both to cities even the official website showed only Gdansk. Volleyball at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's qualification section:South America also showed Maiquetía where the stadium located not Caracas like official calendar. Maiquetia is also metro area of Caracas. In basketball page like AfroBasket 2015, the venue locate in Radès on the page unlike official website Rades is also the metro area of Tunis. So, I think if the venue doesn't confirm, we should show only country. And, it's OK if you don't agree with me. When more information release, we can change after that. Just ask for your opinion. The edit isn't crucial, but in my opinion it wouldn't hurt to mention that the tournament will be held within Metro Manila since the national volleyball federation president said that the tournament will be held in Manila. Even if there is a specific hosting city named the LVPI practically has a year to change it. We can change it to a more specific city if a venue is announced.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 02:53, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Team athlete templates

[edit]

Hi Benolympique,

I just noticed that you reverted some of my edits on the team templates. Instead of using the common national team templates, you replaced them with NOC flag athlete templates to provide enough access to the NOC page. Another thing, can you spot the difference between 1 and 2? The former appropriately uses the common national team template, while the latter has been modified with NOC code and flag athlete templates, which they do not occur recently.

Why do you have to do this? Is this based on your ideas or perhaps on a witty discussion with WikiProject Olympic users? Raymarcbadz (talk) 08:52, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

First, I apologize for doing this, but I have left my question in both wikiproject:olympic and 2016 olympics' talk page. Nobody answer me and remove it with no answer. So, I think I edit the page can let real editors talk with me. And I edit many sports' pages cuz I want opinion from various editor.
Here is my opinion why I edit them. I think all of pages "sport at the olympic" are Olympics pages. I think we should link both national teams pages and their NOC pages. The Olympics is unlike other competitions of single sport federation with organize itself. The qualification processes have to show both IOC emblem and sport federation emblem. And, all quota places belong NOC not athletes or national teams. NOC has a right to send everyone to participate the Olympic not only the athletes who get a palce from the competition. Like South Africa do, the NOC reject the continental qualifiers, now 2 hockey teams, 1 rugby team, 1 diver. You can see some american shooters who qualified and in game are not the same person. actually, in 2012 Olympics, too. So, I think it should link to the NOC pages. Non-team sports also use the template:flagIOC and FlagIOCathlele for their pages. I select the template IOCathlele, because It can show both national team pages and NOC pages at the same time. It is also easy for ready the see the pages. And, I edit only section qualification or something like this, because it is qualification for NOC like I said before. About competition I did not edit anything. Thanks Noncommittalp (talk) 10:10, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Benolympique, I strongly accept my apology about the edit war, but there's an open discussion about the recent use of {{flagIOCathlete}} on the teams. You may refer to the link and justify your case to the other editors about the editing. Kindly stop reverting my edits with respect. Thanks! Raymarcbadz (talk) 10:29, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Don't you have an opinion about my opinion above? I want an opinion that's why I edit.Noncommittalp (talk) 10:35, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Here's my opinion about your edit. Truthfully, the {{flagIOCathlete}} is intended to be used only with regard to individual athletes, not to the teams. The appropriate format of team templates has been a standardized format for most of the national teams in the Olympic articles. If you think your idea on the flagIOCathlete template seemed straightforward, I suggest that it should be respectfully and thoughtfully addressed to the other editors and to the users involved in the link of the talk page that I sent to you. Do not be upset if no other users would mind your opinion. It takes time and patience, bro. Hope you understand about our inconvenience. Thanks! Raymarcbadz (talk) 11:05, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Football at the 2016 Summer Olympics shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. — Jkudlick tcs 09:01, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK, my english is not good, so I want alot of time to write my idea. For the topic, I let you see this 1st source that show "The board reiterated its stance on the Selection Policy for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. No continental qualification will be considered and in the case of SA football, to qualify through Africa but also ensure that the men and women teams are ranked number 1 in Africa. The later 2nd source that told the teams would qualify by continental route and no other criteria would be accepted. The criteria is host country, continental qualifiers, reallocation. But, the condition, be the 1st ranked of Africa, still remain. The latest source did not refer it did not the condition denied. Noncommittalp (talk) 09:33, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That is incorrect. Per SASCOC's statement of 17 July, "the Board has determined that the men and women’s football teams must qualify through Africa and that no other criteria will be accepted, irrespective of what some sports bodies believe." This means that ONLY continental qualification will be considered, and no other criteria, including the previous statement on 10 July that the teams must be ranked #1 in CAF. In addition, the Rio2016 organizing committee lists both the South African men's and women's teams among the qualifiers, and FIFA also lists the men's team as having qualified; FIFA has failed to update the list of women's teams, but both South Africa and Zimbabwe have qualified. — Jkudlick tcs 10:34, 4 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Volleyball at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's qualification

[edit]

Dear Noncommittalp;
I think this part of page Volleyball at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's qualification:
"The best ranked Asian team will qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games. The best three ranked teams, excluding the best Asian team, will secure the vacancies in the 2016 Olympic Games"
in the world qualification section should be revised. this pdf http://www.fivb.org/Photos/Olympic_Games_Men.pdf almost clearly asserts that 1st, 2nd and 3rd team will qualify + best Asian team, not like it is written here.
what's your idea?
regards Tomcat313 (talk) 19:38, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Actually, I am a bit confuse about many sources which public. But, I still think it's correct, because
  • 1. "best ranked Asian team" should mean the best ranked among Asian teams, right? Moreover, in the official website use the phase "the highest ranked Asian team" unlike 2012 edition which the official website use only "best Asian"
  • 2. In the that graphic the best Asian team is in the left. Winner, runner-up, 3rd place, are in the left to right. So, I think it still mean consider best asian first, then the others. For the word "winner" I think it just a appropriate word.

If I am free, I will write more information. thanks. Noncommittalp (talk) 02:21, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the answer. I agree with you that FIVB statement in ambiguous, but I think my interpretation is more correct and I have 3 reasons:
1. 4 years ago the women's tournament had the same conditions as in men's now, and as you may know (or you can read here ) it was first 3 teams + best remained Asian and generally they dont change such decisions.
2. Sponsors have notable impact on these kind of decisions, and in this case Japan is more willing to this format for sure.
3. Iran volleyball federation has announced in its telegram account this format. I know it's not official at all but I guess someone in charge has stated this.
thank you again! Tomcat313 (talk) 14:53, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, you can see pdf file in section external links name quailfication prcess which said that the OGQT would determined in April 2014. About May 2014, NORCECA uploaded qualification process like I wrote On this page. Once AVC ever annouced top 3 from Asian championship will go to OGQT, and it ls against NORCECA release. In the end, AVC had to change it back like NORCECA. So, I think all process already determined. About 4 years ago, I think you know or should know that FIVB change the rule many times 2012 as same as 2008, but unlike 2004 and order. very old edition also different. So, it is normal situation if FIVB want to change. And, now, you can see women qualification talk page. Chiba ryo gave one more information which confirm me. The source from Japan volleyball federation, the organizer. ThanksNoncommittalp (talk) 05:44, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
thanks again, with these two it is clear what you say is correct. Tomcat313 (talk) 10:46, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Dear friend; FIVB finally published something about this issue. link
text: In each gender, the top three ranked teams plus the best ranked Asian team (outside of the top three teams) will qualify for the Olympics. Tomcat313 (talk) 08:36, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK, finally clear. Thanks. Noncommittalp (talk) 08:52, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Volleyball at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's African qualification

[edit]

Hi Noncommittalp, according to this source only 17 women's national teams will be participate in the women's African qualification and Senegal is not among them. This same country did not attend the men's qualification, then we must follow the reliable sources ("CAVB twitter" definitely not one of them). Thanks. Jonas kam (talk) 05:54, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Recalling that initially 22 national teams have registered for the men's qualification but finally only 7 participated. Even quoting reliable sources we are not sure who will participate. Jonas kam (talk) 06:02, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think CAVB twitter is reliable source incase of CAVB. CAVB always update information in it social media. And, first press of CAVB had 22 teams. The later press which annouce after twitter said 23 teams. So, I think it can show Senegal. But, You can edit back. I can wait for the next press. And, Do you think about the topic above. It's so good if you give me your opinion. Thanks. Noncommittalp (talk) 06:09, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Noncommittalp.

Why did you undo all my edits in 2016 FIVB Volleyball World League and 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix?

1) In 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix I changed "from 3 June to 10 July 2016". You changed to "from 3 June to 10 July 2015". This is 2016 year.

2) I deleted all double spaces, endline spaces. You reverted their.

3) If dates in pages in format DMY, then in refs need also DMY.

4) In "Format". In section "Intercontinental round" – "the". In section "Final round" – "The". Need same in two section.

5) Need "serpentine system" from low letter. See page Serpentine system.

6) In infoboxes need year because it is show that 2016 year, not every year.

7) This are similar pages. Why in 2016 FIVB Volleyball World League only country, and in 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix – country and city? Need one standard.

I reverted all my edits except "7)". Need one standard for this pages for all previous years: what is better "country" or "country and city"? My opinion that "country and city" better.

GAV80 (talk) 01:52, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I thought about "7)". In infobox wrotten "Host nation" → need only country without city. I will change infobox for 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix for one standard. Are you agree? GAV80 (talk) 07:32, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And about year in infobox: Each date consists of three parts: day, month and year, not only the day and month. I will add year in 2016 infoboxes and previous seasons. GAV80 (talk) 10:45, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again, Noncommittalp. I deleted all years from infobox in previous seasons. )))
I want fix all seasons World League and World Grand Prix to same standard, because many errors there: no infoboxes in first seasons, different dashes, mistakes in months (for example, 2002 FIVB Volleyball World League), missed word "volleyball" and many other.
Do you can help me with that? GAV80 (talk) 19:33, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2016 FIVB World League

[edit]

Hi, I see you quickly reverted my edit on 2016 FIVB Volleyball World League but you didn't provide some sort of reason to the summary box.

2016 Pan-American Volleyball Cup

[edit]

Hi Noncommittalp, could you further explain your reason of removing the section about WL Qualification system on the article in subject. Thanks.TjBison (talk) 01:52, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Because I think FIVB source should be more reliable than NORCECA. The link I show you told "Confederations will propose what their process will be keeping in mind that all teams entering or leaving the World League and World Grand Prix can only do so from Group 3". How do Brazil which didn't play in Pan Am Cup be from the regulation. So, I think the section is not clear. And, I delete it because of this.Noncommittalp (talk) 02:06, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Fair points, but also be aware that the Pan-American Cup is not the exclusive qualifier for WL unlike other FIVB international competitions. Ultimately FIVB has the right to decline the qualified teams as what it is noted from the removed section.
If for example a qualified team does not meet the terms and condition of FIVB for the group it qualified in but the Confederation has a spot reserved, then it comes down to the Confederation to present its candidate(s). — Preceding unsigned comment added by TjBison (talkcontribs) 02:44, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Sarbaze naja: You can upload the photos that does not mean you have the right to use it. You really are sure that you ask admin? The only Iranian photos are not neutral for sure. I am not a racist. I just want mention name of more countries in the article. What is your idea? remove every picture of the article?!Sarbaze naja (talk) 16:44, 4 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think there is a middle ground here. As far as I know, there is nothing in WP:EN's policy which says that we should remove perfectly good images of a sporting event just because the only images we have properly licensed show only the games in which Iran (or any other country) played. It seems backwards to penalize Iran for being the solde source of CC licensed images of this event.
With that said, I suspect that quantity of images that were removed probably broke the cited WP:EN rule prohibiting galleries that do not, as a whole, add to the understanding of the article. I've always thought that that rule was too strictly enforced, but that decision is not up to me. . . Jim - Jameslwoodward (talk to mecontribs) 17:34, 4 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I reckon those photos are okay, but eurocentrists are resentful of seeing those pictures because they don't like those Iranian players or Iran in general. They won't say anything if we upload photos showing only French, Polish, Australian and Canadian players though. 120.16.36.27 (talk) 15:49, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to see pictures, load them on your computer and watch them. No one cares about them here. Pictures are unnecessary, and provided it's only Iran's players, they will not last. 94.155.238.11 (talk) 16:26, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Beach volley teams

[edit]

Hi, I just wonder how you know what players will play in Beach volleyball at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's tournament‎ (and womens)?

The rules [4] states:

The quota place is allocated to the NOC.

If an NOC/NF has earned a quota place(s) through the Olympic Ranking List of 13 June 2016 or through the 2015 FIVB Beach Volleyball Senior World Championships, the NOC/NF must choose its athletes from its six (6) best eligible pairs in the World Ranking List of 13 June 2016.

So NOC can pick teams and it does not have to be the team who took the place to the NOC. Qed237 (talk) 13:15, 9 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Aesthetically changes in champions box

[edit]

Hi, I saw you reverted my edit in the 2016 Grand Prix page about the champions' box in the final standings. What I was trying to do was to make this box more aesthetically pleasing, with all the contents (the team squad and coach) inside of it; no content would be changed, its just an visual edit. I borrowed this idea from women's handball competition pages in wikipedia that use this format like the 2015 World Women's Handball Championship and the 2013 World Women's Handball Championship which for me looks better than what we currently do, with the informations floating below the box. Since there are no visual guidelines for that in WikiProject Volleyball or even a manual of style, I figured it wouldn't be a problem. i really think we could change this from here on ourt in volleyball competitions, just to make it look aesthetically pleasing, yet maintaining the content the way it is. What do yout think? Please notify me. Arielslytherin (talk) 15:21, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Arielslytherin: Absolutely, I've known how handball did. You can see the men's competitions are different. So, there is a controversy in handball side itself. In basketball side showed different way. That's why I keep volleyball pages as same as the past. For me, I prefer the men's handball. Noncommittalp (talk) 15:37, 10 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship qualification (AVC)

[edit]

Hi User:Noncommittalp,

Thanks a lot for your time to keep Wikipedia authentic.

As for the competition times that I had added to this article (and you removed them because there were no sources for them), https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=2018_FIVB_Volleyball_Women%27s_World_Championship_qualification_%28AVC%29&type=revision&diff=761954469&oldid=761953246 I couldn't find an English source (although I'm sure that it will be in news in a few days).

I wrote it based on a webpage in the official Iran Volleyball Federation website: http://iranvolleyball.com/%D8%A8%D8%B1%D9%86%D8%A7%D9%85%D9%87-%D8%AF%DB%8C%D8%AF%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%87%D8%A7%DB%8C-%D8%AA%DB%8C%D9%85-%D9%85%D9%84%DB%8C-%D8%A8%D8%A7%D9%86%D9%88%D8%A7%D9%86-%D9%85%D8%B4%D8%AE%D8%B5-%D8%B4%D8%AF/

One part of it says: این بازی ها ساعت 16 و 45 دقیقه به وقت محلی برگزار می شود

Google Translates it as: "The games are held 16 hours and 45 minutes of local time." Which in practice means: "The matches start at 16:45 local time."

Thanks, Navid

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether 2018 Boys' U18 Volleyball European Championship Qualification should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2018 Boys' U18 Volleyball European Championship Qualification .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

I understand that you do not agree with my revisions but the issue is relevant and not a target to anyone in particular Wjrz nj forecast (talk) 22:16, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Wjrz nj forecast: Actually, I directly left the message to you, because you are wikipedian as you have had an account. And, this edit warring don’t finish soon. So, I suggest you to use the talk page as we, wikipedian, do when we disagree. Moreover, like I told you before, it was against Wikipedia:edit warring. You should care about policies. If you start a new section to discuss, I will give my opinion as well as other editors. Thanks. Noncommittalp (talk) 06:02, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I do have an account and yes I do care about policies. I will do my best to end the edit war once the 24 hours is over. However there were other editors who also broke this rule on this page which you did not send this message to. Due to that fact, it seems like the warning is based off of opinion on revisions as opposed to following policy. It does not appear that I even directly broke any of these policies. I am not trying to discourage you from editing, I appreciate your comments and your edits as well as all other Wikipedia editors. Thank you Wjrz nj forecast (talk) 19:11, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Wjrz nj forecast: To be clear, I haven’t decided to agree or disagree with you. I would like to see your opinion as well as other Wikipedians before step in. The edit summary is too short to explain what we think. And, it seemed you would like to change more than a part of this article. I sent a message to you because you are wikipedian. But, I didn’t send a message to IP address users, because I didn’t consider them as Wikipedians. I thought I should talk with you to lead the argument to the talk page. The WP:3RR is just a part of WP:EDITWAR. The argument hasn’t finished like I told you before. Another Wikipedian has already started a conversation in the talk page, so please join him. Information icon Hi Noncommittalp! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of 2023 Men's European Volleyball Championship several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:2023 Men's European Volleyball Championship, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:42, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 03:34, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
