Hi NoSeptember, thanks for your comments on my talk page. How did you know my old username stood for "Serving Wikipedia Diligently, 316 days a year"? That's not what it stood for but now I guess it does! Anyways, I have been reconsidering returning to Wikipedia and I thought I would let you know. — Moe ε 03:17, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Quarl RfA Nomination

[edit]

Hi, I noticed you on Quarl's talk page. Although he's been reluctant for adminship I nominated him anyways... and I'm awaiting for his response... but feel free to vote and hopefully he'll accept Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship/Quarl, ~ Cheers — User:Achille 19:59 2006-02-01

You really need to allow Quarl to accept first, and it is not good form to campaign for someone's RfA. Please slow down or you may ruin Quarl's chances. NoSeptember talk 20:08, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Dont worry, I wasnt flooding, I sent messages to the five people I know already (might) want him for admin (the ones using his script, and two who thanked him for rfa) — User:Achille 20:11 2006-02-01
Just to clarify, this is why. ~ Cheers — User:Achille 20:16 2006-02-01
So eight days after he says "I think I should wait a while longer," you are trying to pressure him into it? :-) He isn't online apparently, give him a chance to think about it. NoSeptember talk 20:19, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Quarl has 8000 edits, been a FANTASTIC help. I dont see why he would not get RfA. He is free to decline the RfA, the pre emptive support would raise his morale at least. (yes I know he's not online, that's why I chose this time to do it) ~ Cheers — User:Achille 20:24 2006-02-01
Woohoo, he said Yes! now you may vote at peace ;P ~ Cheers — User:Achille 23:47 2006-02-01
If only it were that easy :p. NoSeptember talk 23:51, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You know, I have noticed something interesting on AfD. When two people say delete for an article... everyone just follows in and says delete. And the same is true for Keep votes. Many times I've stepped in and said keep after a long list of deletes only to have the rest of the votes be "keep" as well. So if you want to change an outcome, the best bet is to vote early (otherwise to implement a secret voting system). Either way m:Voting is evil! ;P ~ Cheers — User:Achille 23:59 2006-02-01

low (Leithp, R.D.H.)

[edit]

Well, I wish I'd left my comment here. We like to flatter ourselves by calling ourselves a "community", but given the way we've been acting over the last few days I think it's one that I increasingly want no part in. Leithp 13:14, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And I probably should have said less. NoSeptember talk 13:41, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No need to apologize to me either, your comments were perfectly civil and well considered. As a skeptical, if not at times cynical, student of politics and human nature, I often find it difficult to separate policy decisions from motivations. Thank you for your kind words and encouragemnt--R.D.H. (Ghost In The Machine) 08:43, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NoSeptember, I'm just taking a quick break from my wiki-break (if that works) because I think I owe you an apology for getting you involved in all this and for using your talk page to sound off about my thoughts on other users behaviour. Sorry. Leithp 09:32, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No apology necessary. I stick my nose into RfA policy because I think it is a very important process, but to the person who is up for Adminship, their friends, and also their enemies, it is a very emotional process, as the candidate is being "judged" by the community (I remember since my RfA was only last month). That is the hazard of my involvement. Here is another case of my getting too involved in an RfA :P NoSeptember talk 09:44, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

AFIAK I now hold the follwoing

  1. Most questions on an RfA
  2. Newest user to reach WP:100 on an RfA
  3. Newest user in a long time to get promoted

Well, at least under my username anyways, though it would have been fun to see how I would have met up to Clown (though even my supports + opposes + neuterals didn't meet his totals) :) -- Tawker 05:16, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Considering your first edit was in July 2005, you certainly aren't the newest. You may have the most questions, although there have been RfAs in the past with an explosion of questions (also about users with an unusual case such as yours). NoSeptember talk 13:47, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks... (Dmcdevit's nominations)

[edit]

Although, (unless I'm being stupid here,) to date, I haven't had an RFA nomination fail to pass(?). All of the nominations I can think of make me six-for-six. Though there was some initial controversy about Hamster Sandwich's success, and I've had some that declined my offers. In any case, I do think it's time I started making more nominations again, and have some others in mind. :-) Dmcdevit·t 21:22, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin (DLJessup)

[edit]

NoSeptember:

Back in March, you offered to nominate me for admin. In April, you asked me about it again, and I accepted, but said that it would take a while before I was ready to do it. Well, I (finally!) have a full week when I'm fairly sure I'm not going to be away from my computer for more than 24 hours at a time (God and computer failures willing), so if you're still willing, I'd like to take you up on your offer.

DLJessup (talk) 15:04, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You bet. I wrote an intro paragraph a few months back for this which I just dropped at the very bottom of this page. Feel free to suggest modifications. Meanwhile, I will set up the RfA page for you. It's about time ;-). NoSeptember 15:22, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
OK, this page just needs 1) my nom, 2) your acceptance, 3) your answers, and 4) the correct ending time. Then it is ready to go. Go ahead and work on getting the page ready. NoSeptember 15:44, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
The nomination on your page looks good to me. I've answered the questions as best I can. — DLJessup (talk) 15:22, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I responded on my talk page, and I went ahead and posted the RfA. I am only posting this because it's been posted for all of seven minutes, and somebody has already cast a vote. — DLJessup (talk) 21:04, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there:

Thanks for nominating me for the RfA, for the advice along the way, and for the comment in defense of my nomination. I am disappointed in the result, but I'm glad to have done it. I don't know what else to say, so I'll just repeat myself: Thank you.

Thanks for the info! (Phaedriel, Kinneyboy)

[edit]

Thanks for the info, my dear NoSeptember; but apparently, Kinneyboy has taken this chance to give it a second thought, and he won't apply just now. I praise his decision, since I'm afraid his edit count would have been an issue at a RfA. My 2nd RFA (future) (GangstaEB, GeorgeMoney)

[edit]

When do you think I'll be ready (options below)?

(A)1000 main namespace edits
(B)50% (about 1500) mainspace edits
(C)3 months
(D)Other

GangstaEB~(penguin logs) 18:38, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Ohh, can I have a review too? My goals are:
  • Way more article edits........ Way more.
  • Wait till some time in 2007 (maybe april or may)
  • Wait till long enough until some things in my history that..... I'm kinda not proud of.... become things of the past
What do you think? (And don't worry, I won't be offended if you point something out bad in me) GeorgeMoney (talk) 20:29, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the reason I want to wait so long is because I am not really "desprate" for adminship. Right now, I would just think adminship is a "convienence" (sp?). I guess blocking vandals and deleting junk would be good, but there is aiv and speedy deletion. And, I do plan to work on articles in userspace and move them out. About the mss welcomings, I just love when they thank me for welcoming them or ask me questions about wp (like the person who commented on my talkpage a section above your comment). New users are just so......... nice, and I love interacting with them. GeorgeMoney (talk) 08:42, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA standards (EWS23)

[edit]

Hi NoSeptember! I saw your recent posts on WT:RFA, and while I felt that conversation was too far along to really jump in, I respect your opinions on RfA issues, and I was hoping to get your thoughts on my new RfA criteria. It's very similar to what you suggested on the talk page, with a couple extra criteria. Any thoughts, for or against it? EWS23 (Leave me a message!) 02:48, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. :o) Some I've talked to consider them too simplistic or perhaps too utopian or hard to quantify. However, I hope if I can stick strictly to it, I can support those that deserve to be supported, and try to comment with logic and good reason. Thanks again, EWS23 (Leave me a message!) 10:15, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
