Template:Kansas City Chiefs roster

[edit]

Please make sure with any updates to the roster, other than number changes, to change the date and roster counts.--Rockchalk717 18:28, 17 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Again, please update the counts when updating the roster.--Rockchalk717 15:21, 18 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Stop ignoring this messages and please start updating the count when updating the template. Additionally, players on Active/PUP should remain on the active roster and not on the reserve list.--Rockchalk717 17:53, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You're running out of chances here. You need to start updating the date and count or I'm going to ANI which could result in a block, so if you want to continue editing you need to stop ignoring these messages and please follow my simple request.--Rockchalk717 02:35, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for finally updating the counts, however, you need until either teams officially announce transactions or wait until they appear on the waiver wire, and no, "Cuts tracker"s don't count as the waiver wire.--Rockchalk717 18:44, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Tomasi Laulile

[edit]

Just because he was listed as a rookie at 49ers.com, doesn’t mean he’s a rookie, you have to do some research if that player doesn’t have a Wikipedia article. Laulile was with the Colts in 2018 and the Saints in 2019. ReaganHoang10 (talk) 02:39, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Masonjcole, hope you're well. I appreciate the updates you perform to roster templates, but I do have an ask of you. When doing so, could you please also update the active player count and date? Hey man im josh (talk) 16:16, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - notability

[edit]

Hello I see you are adding quite a few articles about athletes that are borderline notable. Please read WP:SPORTCRIT and WP:GNG to see what is required for notability. Bruxton (talk) 18:29, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It appears all of the articles this user is creating are on people who have recently made NFL rosters (and will be most likely making their NFL debut next week), so likely all of them are notable. BeanieFan11 (talk) 19:22, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There's still a week of roster moves to go, plus the possibility that the player is listed inactive for upcoming Week 1. Additionally, with WP:NGRIDIRON being undone there needs to be at least a little reliable sourcing included to show that the subject likely passes WP:GNG. Some of these only have one tweet in terms of references and this is completely unacceptable. @Masonjcole: please read GNG and WP:RS. If you continue to not acknowledge messages about not following policy and also not communicating (see Wikipedia:Communication is required), you will likely be taken back to ANI as Rockchalk717 had to do earlier. Best, GPL93 (talk) 17:00, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@BeanieFan11: There notability guidelines to follow. Until an NFL player meets those, they shouldn't have an article made. Just simply having been on a regular season roster isn't good enough anymore.--Rockchalk717 18:47, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I know that. But from my experience in writing articles, I can say that nearly everyone who makes an NFL roster (especially in current days) will have SIGCOV, which is why I said they are likely to be notable. BeanieFan11 (talk) 18:50, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@BeanieFan11: That's fine but we shouldn't be basing articles on potential future notability and this editor needs to be aware of that.--Rockchalk717 19:06, 6 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Allan George moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Allan George, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Ways to improve Timmy Horne

[edit]

Hello, Masonjcole,

Thank you for creating Timmy Horne.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

WP:SPORTCRIT requires at least one source with significant coverage for a sports biography. The one source cited consists of four sentences which is not significant coverage. Adding more independent sources with significant coverage would help establish his notability.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Gab4gab}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Template:Kansas City Chiefs roster

[edit]

Chris Oladokun does not have 19. This appears to be the occasional instance where the Chiefs website is incorrect. Matt Ammendola had 19 until he was released and now Matthew Wright has 19 according to ESPN's Adam Teicher who attends media portions of Chiefs practice.--Rockchalk717 15:35, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, Chris Oladokun does not have 19, Matthew Wright does and two players cannot have the same number during the regular season. You need to start acknowledging posts on your talkpage and communicating because that is required and you can be blocked for not communicating.--Rockchalk717 19:24, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nominations

[edit]

Hey @Masonjcole, I saw that you had nominated several pages for deletion. Unfortunately, it appears that you did not create the deletion discussion for 5 out of 6 of the pages you tagged. You did create the page discussion post for Johnny Johnson III, but not the rest.

Those pages missing a deletion discussion are:

I'm not actually sure of the process when a user doesn't create discussion after tagging, so I've left your tags in place for now. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:55, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Jalon Daniels, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Kansas Football does not provide DOBs for players. Donovan Edwards

[edit]

You added West Bloomfield as the birth place for Donovan Edwards. Do you have a source for that? We have sources that say he went to West Bloomfield High School, but I've seen nothing confirming a place of birth. Can you please provide a source or revert this edit? Cbl62 (talk) 13:21, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Masonjcole: You really need to respond to these communications. Failure to communicate leaves the impression you don't have sourcing for the edits you have made (and are continuing to make today). If we don't get a satisfactory response, it may be necessary to pursue action at WP:ANI -- so please respond. Cbl62 (talk) 15:37, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, I often don't check these. I will begin checking these regularly and citing sources.
- Mason C. Masonjcole (talk) 12:07, 10 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • You said you would begin citing sources, but it's still not happening. Just in the last couple hours:

Mazi Smith: unsourced addition of birth place
Steele Chambers: unsourced addition of birth place
Denzel Burke]: unsourced addition of birth place
Cade Stover: unsourced addition of birth place
Kyle McCord: unsourced addition of birth place and date
Dallan Hayden: unsourced addition of birth place and date
Julian Fleming: unsourced addition of birth place
Mason Graham: unsourced addition of birth place
Derrick Moore: unsourced addition of birth place
And many more. These are living persons. Our WP:BLP policy requires these edits to be sourced. You have been warned multiple times and you persist. I am going to revert these edits. If the problems continues, I will pursue further corrective action (including a possible block of your editing privilege) at the administrator's notice board. Cbl62 (talk) 18:54, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to reiterate Cbl62's warning. You are continuing to add unsourced birthdates and birthplaces, I have confirmed that at least one birthplace (Justin Shorter) is incorrect. ESPNs databases simply list the "hometown" on a player's team bio as their birthdate for college players and make no attempt to verify. Please stop. 21 for the Chiefs

[edit]

There are some rumors Trent McDuffie has changed his number 22 however, this has not been confirmed by the Chiefs. Now, I'm saying this because you added 21 to Mike Edwards, who is also a defensive player giving to players on the same side of the same number which is not allowed. Before adding a number, even if the team website shows the number, verify someone on that side of the ball doesn't already have that number. If they do, don't add it.--Rockchalk717 16:03, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

NFL Rosters

[edit]

Please stop adding UDFAs to roster templates when their signings have not been confirmed or officially announced. Generally that won't happen until rookie mini-camp, many of which are not until next week. Thanks. wjematherplease leave a message... 12:59, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Rockchalk717 22:58, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Now because of the block, I hope you understand the seriousness of needing to communicate on here. Please make sure you communicate and understand to not add transactions before the team makes an official announcement, this includes number changes (number being changed on team website is acceptable so long as another player on that side of the ball doesn't already have that number) as well.--Rockchalk717 02:01, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I understand why I was blocked, but I thought those edits were okay to make because even though they were unsourced, they had come from reliable sources such as news sites from insider sources related to the team. I am just confused as to why I specifically was singled out. I want to make it clear that I know I was being disruptive, and I apologize for that, as my medicine inflicts urges to go on "editing sprees" to make everything to my perfection, which is why this happens. I will try to prevent this from happening in the future. Masonjcole (talk) 16:01, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I'm afraid if your medication is making you disruptive, we'll have to extend your block indefinitely. I will go do that now. You are free to contest your block when you can personally vouch that your medication and underlying concern is sufficiently under control that we can be absolutely sure you will not go on another similar "editing spree". Yamla (talk) 21:58, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I cannot do anything about the block myself, that's not why I'm commenting. Number 1, the main reason for the block is your complete and total lack of communication despite communication being required. This needs to change immediately. Number 2, you aren't providing sources whatsoever about where you're getting the information in these edits from, with that being said you are making number changes not confirmed by the team via social media or their website and you are adding transactions not confirmed by teams either, both of which are required by Wikipedia policy which you have been advised of multiple times via comments on your talkpage and in edit summaries.--Rockchalk717 20:11, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'd support an unblock if Masonjcole promises to control his "unsourced editing sprees" and can provide sources for his edits (whether in the edit summary or in the article). BeanieFan11 (talk) 22:02, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'd support that, too, along with a personal guarantee that the medication will no longer cause problematic edits. --Yamla (talk) 22:05, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I can vouch for that personally. If this happens again, I will gladly take myself off this platform willingly. I want to give myself a chance to edit this website and give people a place to inform others of what is going on and how things are thought about. I apologize for the damage I have caused, and it is something I take full responsibility for. If you guys don’t support the unblock, that is fine, and I will take myself off Wikipedia.
Thanks
-Masonjcole Masonjcole (talk) 02:51, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm so sorry Masonjcole, I did not want you blocked indefinitely. Your edits were in good faith despite being unsourced. I feel awful that you've been blocked indefinitely. I did want a block but only for a few days to make sure you begin following the rules.--Rockchalk717 03:56, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I support an unblock. If you do get unblocked, Masonjcole, try to include references for your edits (for example, if its a transaction on a template, you could put a url or where you got the information in the edit summary or say something like, "update per team website" or similar - or if its a birth date/place, you may want to include a citation in the infobox, etc.) and be willing to discuss with others. @Yamla: BeanieFan11 (talk) 19:46, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I do believe Mason was editing in good faith, so I would also support an unblock. However, I would like to note based on their appeal, anonymous and "insider" sources are not appropriate references. We must wait for the signings to be official. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:13, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Roster Moves

[edit]

Hi, I hope you are having a nice day.

Well, for any roster transaction, the reference from the official source is necessary, official website or twitter account.

And yes, the rule does apply to all roster (I think it even applies for NBA, MLB and NHL rosters, but I'm not sure); but I am just a guy, there's no way I am able to control so many edits, so I only do it with my favorite teams.

So, please do not edit Vikings or any other roster without a reference from the official source. Cheers Sergio Skol (talk) 17:26, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Masonjcole:, you appear to be resuming your prior behaviour of unsourced editing sprees. Certainly, I cannot find any sources provided by you for your recent batch of edits. Please explain immediately, before editing further. --Yamla (talk) 17:36, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I will cease immediately. I always forget to source, that's on me. I will cease editing.

It is not hard to do

[edit]

Hello @Masonjcole:

Sorry for bothering with this again. I noticed that you have been adding to the pages of UDFAs who made their team's roster a little description clarifying that, and that is fine and true, that's why I did not delete it.

But once again you did not add official source reference, I think it is pretty easy to do; just go to the team website and look for the news, it will probably be the first one that appears or swipe a bit and there it will be. Copy the link, the title of the news and its date, that is the essential for a reference. I will give you an example of how to use it below:

On August 29, 2023, the Vikings announced that he had made the initial 53-man roster.<ref>{{cite news|title=Vikings Set Initial 53-Man Roster for 2023|url=https://www.vikings.com/news/roster-moves-initial-53-man-waived-injured-2023|date=August 29, 2023|website=Vikings.com}}</ref>, which results in: On August 29, 2023, the Vikings announced that he had made the initial 53-man roster.[1]

Here are all the parameters that you can use, although they are not essential: Template:cite news.

I also recommend that you see the next templates so you can know when and how it is correct to use them:

I hope this helps you =) Sergio Skol (talk) 08:09, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
