Tomorrow's event

[edit]

Car's still in the shop, and I still don't know if I can come. I'll leave you a note either when I find out that I can come or when I get to the point that it's too late to come. Nyttend (talk) 11:48, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Two questions — (1) Do you mind telling me who the other person is that you're picking up? I'd like to coordinate with that person. (2) What time are you meeting that person? I'm now considering the shuttle (thanks for the idea), but if I have to use it, I'd really rather not make you come twice or anything like that. Nyttend (talk) 11:58, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've left Awadewit the necessary messages. Just to check — are you also taking her to catch the Shuttle to come back to Bloomington some time tomorrow? I don't want to stay overnight, so I'd need to get a ride back to the airport. I'm now off to work; you'll not get any replies until this evening. Nyttend (talk) 12:14, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Confirming my coming. See you tomorrow. --Vihelik (talk) 20:29, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
While I was at work, the mechanic called to tell me that work was done, and I've now picked up the car. Thanks for the Shuttle suggestion, but I'd rather drive, so I'll see you tomorrow only when I arrive at the Museum. Thanks for the help! Nyttend (talk) 22:54, 19 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

TCMI Backstage Pass 2

[edit]

Thanks for all the hard work you put into this! Awadewit (talk) 23:40, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, thanks from me, too. This was a very well organized event and I had a lot fun participating! --Dschwen 01:42, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the recognition! I was very impressed by the willingness of the museum to share its wonderful resources with the public. I am working on the translations of some of the articles and hope to be back soon to work with the collections. --Vihelik (talk) 15:33, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This is the first time for me collaborating with Wikipedians in person so it was a wonderful experience! Thanks for making it happen! I'm still working on the Creative Playthings page (just checked 2 books out from the library for research)! Thanks for getting me excited about Wikipedia again. I look forward to collaborating in the future!--Daniel McMullen (talk) 04:09, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Daniel, for this heartwarming note. I'm so glad you had such a great experience. Let me know if you need anything as you continue your research. I still have a lot of the photocopied documents on hand. We're happy to have you back anytime & I look forward to brainstorming the next project to take on!
By the way, I went ahead and created the Creative Playthings article, just by moving the portion of the Frank Caplan article over there. I fixed the links and added headings, but these all can obviously be changed and moved per your research and hard work. I just wanted to create the page so that I could link to it in our blog posts about the day. I didn't want you to rush to get up what you've done. But just so you know, the article exists and it's all yours to fix up. We very much appreciate it! LoriLee (talk) 14:00, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GLAM/TCI/etc.

[edit]

Thanks again I started working with Adrienne today and she is using resources from the Children's Museum to do her coursework for this semester. I've not been able to attend either of the previous Backstage Passes (the last one due to the CA training!), but please let me know if you think there's anything I can do in-person for Wikipedia in Indianapolis. —Justin (koavf)TCM23:54, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:MaxAnderson.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:MaxAnderson.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ukexpat (talk) 12:56, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm in communication with the owner of the photo so that he will update his website to reflect the permission that he verbally passed on to me. Definitely my fault on the oversight of following through on that proof. He's a busy museum director so I can't confirm that he'll be able to by tomorrow; so I hope that this can hang in there. LoriLee (talk) 13:38, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for following up. Even if it is deleted before the website permission is changed, an admin can always undelete it. – ukexpat (talk) 14:01, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey LoriLee!

[edit]

Hey, I'm from ITESM, Tec de Monterrey and I'm involved in the wikipedia project too, I really wanted to contact you because I'll be collaborating too with you to help translating the museum's articles into spanish too! --ItzelP (talk) 23:56, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

DYK nom for Caplan Collection

[edit]

Hi Lori, I have reviewed your nomination of Caplan Collection at Template:Did you know nominations/Caplan Collection and there are some minor issues, which I have indicated at the discussion. Could you address them and reply there? Thanks. Crisco 1492 (talk) 03:58, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Translation?

[edit]

Hi Lori I was looking other artciles to help you translate but I need them to be C class,is Fireworks of Glass Tower and Ceiling already translated? if not, may I translate it? Thanks 4 all! --ItzelP (talk) 01:00, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Itzel! Sorry to not reply sooner - it's a holiday weekend in the US. :) You can see all of the articles in Category:The Children's Museum of Indianapolis. Fireworks of Glass has been translated as part of the translate-a-thon day. You can check each article and see the "Languages" section on the left hand side to check. Most have been translated, but Frank Caplan, Theresa Caplan, and Caplan Collection would be good ones to do next. (Creative Playthings will still be updated significantly.)
Also, it is always helpful to take the images in Commons:Category:Images from the Children's Museum of Indianapolis and place them in Spanish articles. We need images placed in articles very badly!
I plan to update the list of "ways you can help." This week at work. Thank you again for your help! I really appreciate it!LoriLee (talk) 12:14, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!

[edit]

Hello Lori! I received your gratitude and I want to tell you that I remain at your disposal for any other help on English-Spanish translations. Have a nice one! --Sheila Piña (talk) 13:51, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

L390 and simple.wp

[edit]

A friendly note I see that you're helping out online with L390 and all the actual work is being done on Simple, but Simple:User:LoriLee doesn't exist. At the risk of sounding pedantic, you may wish to make it or even go all out and get a single user login. In case you're interested, I'm having a meeting with three or four professors this Thursday at IUPUI about using Wikipedia in their course work. —Justin (koavf)TCM21:46, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Justin. I updated the page with my correct Simple English Wikipedia user page. My username is User:HstryQT on all places except here, which I renamed myself to User:LoriLee. I did the appropriate name change process, and was told I could not do that globally, thus, I'm still HstryQT everywhere else. Global log in is the bane of my existence. I hope a soft redirect is ok. I have to be honest with the level of involvement I'll be able to have/my ability to remember to check that page. Thanks & let me know if there's a good time for you to come by and visit the museum. I'm looking forward to chatting! HstryQT (talk) 21:59, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ah Well, you could still register LoriLee somewhere else (e.g. Meta) and make that the home for that login... unless you have too many edits at en.wp, which you probably do. Yes, that sounds like a headache.
It looks like we might be at the museum on September 26... —Justin (koavf)TCM22:03, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh And for what it's worth, the students seem like they are getting the hang of this quite well. They, Adrianne, and I are certainly grateful for your assistance, but for what it's worth, there will probably be a very slight burden on you. —Justin (koavf)TCM22:04, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Online Ambassador

[edit]

I have removed your name as an Online Ambassador for the Children's Literature course because I could not find you on the list at Wikipedia:Ambassadors/Current ambassadors. If you have already been accepted as an Online Ambassador, my apologies. If you have not been accepted, and wish to apply to be an Online Ambassador, please see Wikipedia:Online Ambassadors/Apply. -- Donald Albury 01:04, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I had been removed from the IUPUI template, which I was unaware of. I am in fact a trained Campus Ambassador. I'm also the Wikipedian-in-Residence at the museum that Adrianne's course is working with this semester. Please do re-add me. Appreciate it. Sorry for the confusion. LoriLee (talk) 01:23, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've added you back in. I apologize for the misunderstanding on your status as an Ambassador. Please go to Wikipedia:United States Education Program/MOU/sign and sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Children's Literature course. This will indicate your commitment to work with the other members of the course pod under the terms of the MOU, as stated at Wikipedia:United States Education Program/MOU. -- Donald Albury 10:03, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Did you see this?

[edit]

Is this accurate? I don't know. I never know anything. —Justin (koavf)TCM04:52, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See above. Misunderstanding. I wasn't aware of the steps I missed, or that someone had removed my name from the IUPUI Campus Ambassadors template. (Way to let me know, right?) :) Should be fixed now.LoriLee (talk) 13:47, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Smart Museum

[edit]

Start with requests on the talk pages at WP:CHICAGO, WP:MUSEUMS and WP:WPVA.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 20:29, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there! While the above referenced fall course has 25 students with five OAs, I have decided to step back and help other classes that do not have support. We have a current class, Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/HardenPsy101 with 194 students (and more expected) that does not yet have the support of a Campus Ambassador or Online Ambassadors. Since the Children's Literature class is covered, would you be willing to switch it up and serve as an OA for the Psyche101 class? Any help you can offer is appreciated. Let me know, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 22:40, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cindy. While this is a very good suggestion, I'm sorry that I won't be able to help. The reason I'm signed up as an Online Ambassador for this course is not in necessarily the traditional sense. I'm the Wikipedian in Residence at the Children's Museum, with whom they are working on a project. I'll be assisting when needed, but minimally. I do not have the spare time to devote to helping another class as well. Thanks! LoriLee (talk) 13:24, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
