ICCA
Thanks for the review on the speedy delete, I'll work on filling out the article more fully to include the history and impact the initial association had and ensure it is of importance...
Thanks, Ralph — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rctillinghast (talk • contribs) 02:45, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Rctillinghast, as the ICCA and the IAA are effectively the same organization, you can include the history of the association when it was called the ICCA in the article, perhaps under a section titled "history", or something similar. --kelapstick(bainuu) 12:05, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
Maureen Montagne
Maureen Montagne contains an obvious assertion of significance (though in it's current condition, should probably be redirected to Miss Arizona USA ). WilyD 12:31, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
- I missed the actually winning in 2015, I will redirect, and if someone needs the history (although I don't see how it would be very helpful), restore on request. --kelapstick(bainuu) 12:40, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
- Okay, cool. I have no real opinion on the usefullness of the history, nor how plausible it is someone can expand it to a full article. A quick perusal of Google News suggests it might be possible. WilyD 15:56, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
User talk page protection
Hi. Thanks for the quick semi-protect. May I request that the protection to be extended for at least a month? I've been receiving death threats from Malusia22 and he won't stop on my talk page unless his IP has been blocked. -WayKurat (talk) 15:04, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
- WayKurat I can do that, just remember that you have to have a place for unregistered and unconfirmed editors to contact you. --kelapstick(bainuu) 15:05, 17 January 2015 (UTC)
Can you help with protection?
Hello. I saw you at Drmies page and was wondering if you'd help me apply for page protection for FNC Entertainment. Anonymous IPs and new users, all of whom just happen to have only made a few edits (all of them to that page), keep adding back unsourced (and questionably-notable) information that involves real people. I don't know how long this has to go on before protection is granted, but it's been happening since the unsourced info was removed yesterday, and since it appears there is some sock action happening I don't see it stopping. I really can't handle the page protection application process, which is why I always pester Drmies for help. :) Wish all kpop articles could be automatically protected...heh. Thank you for any help you can give! Shinyang-i (talk) 17:01, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
- Semiprotected for a fortnight. If you have twinkle loaded, RFPP is an option. But feel free to hit me up of Drmies is on the road. --kelapstick(bainuu) 17:11, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
- I have Twinkle but I've only just started using it and the "show the diffs" thing overwhelms me. Thank you so much. :) Shinyang-i (talk) 17:13, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

- WEll, 1 more thing... At the Breakfast time talk page ... Just how did I managed this one on talk: This article was edited to contain a total or partial translation of Frukostdags from the Sami Wikipedia? It was translated from the Swedish. Hafspajen (talk) 13:56, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- The parameter for Swedish is SV not SE. Fixed. --kelapstick(bainuu) 14:18, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Haffy, because they have different capitalizations, disambiguation is not needed, it can be handled with a hatnote. As I did. --kelapstick(bainuu) 16:45, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. Didn't dare to come bother you again. Soon you will agree with all the evil things Bgwhite is spreading out about me - like I have no idea about how to disambiguate. Hafspajen (talk) 17:40, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Mrs Doctor Who
The fourth episode of sixth series of Doctor Who was written by Neil Gaiman, entitled the "The Doctor's Wife" ... Hafspajen (talk) 00:41, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- I did know that, and have seen it. Did you know I heard that from LadyofShalott, who is also a fan of both the Doctor and Gaiman. It even has its own article, The Doctor's Wife. Spoiler, but The Doctor's Wife in this case is the consciousness of the TARDIS, not his actual wife.--kelapstick(bainuu) 00:45, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

- New you would come up with SOME joke. Hafspajen (talk) 01:02, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Well done. Hafspajen (talk) 01:08, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Absolutely you may use that Hafs. Also of note, David Tennent, the Tenth Doctor, married Georgia Moffett, who played his "daughter" (or kind of clone) in one episode. She is also the biological daughter of Peter Davison, who played the Fifth Doctor. So the Doctor's Daughter, Played the Doctors Daughter, and then married The Doctor. Confused yet?
- More fictionally, in The Impossible Astronaut, The Doctor is killed by his wife, while his wife watches, with her mother, who happens to be pregnant, with his wife.--kelapstick(bainuu) 01:15, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Actually Hafs, in order for the joke to work, it has to be Spoilers, not spoiler, it is a catch phrase of River Song. --kelapstick(bainuu) 01:17, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- YES, Sir, correct. (Haffy) Hafspajen (talk) 01:19, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Do you really mean all this? :Also of note, David Tennent, the Tenth Doctor, married Georgia Moffett, who played his "daughter" (or kind of clone) in one episode. - Hafs, you forgot an episode the following season also written by Gamen. I've already mentioned this to Lady. Hafs, you are just slow to the party, as usual. Hay, who invited Hafs to the party in the first place? I said no riffraff. Bgwhite (talk) 01:25, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Unfortunately - Gamen has no Featured picture of him in Signpost. Hafspajen (talk) 01:26, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Those last bits were more for your entertainment than anything else. They are not related to Gamen, so you don't need to include them. --kelapstick(bainuu) 01:28, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
- Unless Gamen is the same person as Gaiman. I that case it is correct to add all the rest to. Some kinda fusion or what. Hafspajen (talk) 01:32, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

- Hafspajen, I would take the part about David Tennant and all that out of the blurb at the sign post, it was a different Doctor, and not really related. The part about the TARDIS is good because it was related to the episode he wrote.--kelapstick(bainuu) 02:07, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

- Ched, hows it going my man? All is well here, I was just thinking of you the other day (like just last week). Part of it was I kept meaning to do this edit (like for two years!), but now it's done :) Life is good, I have started on a more favourable work schedule, so I am home more often. We are getting slammed with snow, I head back home tomorrow. I imagine I will have a lot of shoveling to do. Other than that I haven't had much new article creation lately, although I did start Frankie MacDonald a while back (something I had been meaning to do for a while). How's the family? --kelapstick(bainuu) 11:47, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Daughter and grandkids are great. My grandson just passed his blue belt test. Me? ... well, between my mom and me, there's far too much time spent in Dr. offices - part of age I guess. Hey - I like your article on Frankie - cool, I like his enthusiasm. Coincidence too, cause I just ran across this guy the other day. And thanks for the tweak to my little monster's page. :) — Ched : ? 12:13, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- I hear ya, Mrs. Kelapstick has managed to keep at least one door clear, and the kids are off school (again) today. Hopefully it stays clear tomorrow so I can get picked up at the airport (if I can even make it out of Toronto). I had to postpone my trip out here two weeks ago, tried to get to the airport and near got blown over filling the gas tank, even the transport truck drivers weren't on the road. Here is a better forecast for you Ched, let's go to Hawaii! --kelapstick(bainuu) 12:21, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

User rights
Hey,
I know I requested you removed them just a few days ago, but can you restore my rights please? I've taken a bit longer to sort myself and stuff out (a process that started earlier this year), and I feel well enough to come back and help out, even if it is just occasionally. Draft:TeleMate Unified Call Management Software
First I am new to Wikipedia posting and second thank you for the feedback but I don't understand the why mine article / post has been rejected again. I find dozens of posting of products and technologies just like mine. I am the author/founder of the technology. For example reference COMMVIEW. The layout, reference types, etc... are exactly the same. Since this my my first submission I used it as a guide. I can reference numerous others. Also from a number of reference perspective I have seen posts with 2- or 3 and those with 20-30. I assumed 7 was sufficient. Is there a magic number of them?
Please explain what you are suggesting. Thank you in advance. User:TeleMate1986 (talk) 17:25, 11 March 2015 (UTC)

- A ton of releases? Short ton or long ton? What is the mass of music? Like if you physically weighted all the CDs produced it would weigh one ton? How does that work with digital downloads? I will have to review the policy what mass of music released equates to de facto notability. --kelapstick(bainuu) 17:39, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

I saw on your user page that you are only interested in mining and bacon. That is very sad, so I wrote this article for you. SpinningSpark 22:58, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
- Spinningspark, that is nothing short of amazing. I must make a pilgrimage... I am figuratively at a loss for words. I am going to nominate that (with your permission) for DYK. Much thanks for bringing this to me. --kelapstick(bainuu) 23:06, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
- If you do go, try and get a better picture than this one. Be my guest with DYK. SpinningSpark 23:10, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

- Oh I like that one, do we still do funny ones for April 1? --kelapstick(bainuu) 00:09, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- DYK still does April Fools. The procedure is to list it both at Wikipedia:April Fool's Main Page/Did You Know as well as the main nomination page at Template talk:Did you know. We could also have,
- ...that beef found in beans and bacon led to an emergency operation.
- By the way, it is currently about 80 words short of the DYK length requirement. SpinningSpark 08:09, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- It's still 1500 characters eh? its at about 1180 now I think. I will have a look this afternoon. --kelapstick(bainuu) 11:11, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

How many times
How many times are you supposed to start a thing all over again? We had a discussion like a year ago, opposing the merger of an article, and it started all over again, here and on top of it now parallel with an [other discussion about the very same subject ... Twin solutions suggested in the same time? Both going against previous consensus?
- It is a disruption meant to let everybody drop down by pure exhaustion until nobody ever cares any more so they later can walk in and at the whatever discussed?
- Is there any rules, regulations about how many times are you supposed to start a thing all over again? Hafspajen (talk) 20:57, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
- I don't think there is a bright line limit, although that is a topic that is rather controversial if I recall. I've been stuck in toronto for the last 24+ hours, trying to get home, so I'm not in the best position to look into it at the moment. Wheels up in under an hour. And a mountain of snow to tackle when I get home. --kelapstick(on the run) 21:15, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
- Eh no limits? hourly and daily (?), bless you my son. Hafspajen (talk) 21:35, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

My Mirror AfD
I've humor-tagged the Mirror AfD, which should fix the problem... I think. Can we quit edit warring on a self-demonstrating joke? ONR (talk) 21:12, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- No, you cannot make my comments mirrored. I left the discussion as mirrored, as that was the point. I readded the humour tag, if you want to switch it, fine by me. But again, don't mirror my closure comments. --kelapstick(bainuu) 21:17, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- If you didn't want your closure comments mirrored, you should have un-mirrored ALL of the closure comments. But that's beside the point. ONR (talk) 21:22, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

You've deleted the page incorrectly. The page does not meet the criteria for G3. It is not a case of "blatant and obvious misinformation", "blatant hoax", or "redirect created by cleanup from page-move vandalism". You've should have taken it to the MfD. I suggest you familiarise yourself with Wikipedia:Deletion policy and not make such erroneous deletions again. Thank you. SD0001 (talk) 13:55, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- Intentional disruption, even on April 1 is still blatant vandalism. --kelapstick(bainuu) 13:56, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

- You are aware of Wikipedia:Rules for Fools right? I wasn't breaking any of the rules laid down there when you deleted the article. Also on the topic of it being vandalism, I hardly see how my actions compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. Bosstopher (talk) 14:14, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- Call it what you want, but rules for fools (which is ridiculous in my mind), clearly says that it must be tagged as humour (for example). Massive amounts of joke MfD nominations, which are in turn speedy deletion nominated, or MfD nominated, for various reasons, clutters up and disrupts maintenance categories. Shit still has to get done here on 1 April. On top of all this, these joke MfDs etc. are not actually funny. They were barely funny in 2009, now, even less so. --kelapstick(bainuu) 14:30, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but.... I kinda agree with SD0001 and Purplebackpack89. It was fun making those 6 (delete this "delete this ""delete this """delete this (etc.)""" "" ") pages, seeing them deleted...not so much. They had potential to be funny, and they got deleted. Due to a policy "change" to WP:BLANKING, which I opposed, a user is permitted to remove an active block notice, just not a decline.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:46, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Question about "Wp:NFCC#10c" and "WP:NFCCE"
I saw your post at WP:NFCR#File:Angie Watts.jpg and that you removed the file from Wimbledon Manor House. I also saw from your contributions history that you removed File:Nobu McCarthy.jpg from Japanese Canadians for "no fair use rationale for this article". Since you are an administrator, an oversighter and an OTRS member, I'd like to ask your opinion on something.
The other day I was looking through files listed at Category:Non-free logos and removed some from articles where they did not have a specific, separate non-free rationale. I cited WP:NFCC#10c and WP:NFCCE in my edits sums and thought nothing much more about it. One of the files I removed was from the article Wimbledon Manor House. I did not see this as being controversial and did not think I was required to discuss this removal with anyone beforehand. I did not remove the image from Municipal Borough of Wimbledon because it had the appropriate rationale and I did not nominate the image for deletion using "WP:FFD". I really assumed that somebody watching the page would simply add the required non-free use rationale and re-add the image to the article if they wanted to use it there.
This removal was discussed amicably at User talk:Marchjuly#Wimbledon Council Arms so I thought everything was OK. The new file uploaded seemed acceptable as a replacement to me at the time and possible problems with WP:NFCC#1 did not even cross my mind. Another editor, however, listed the file at WP:PUI because they had concerns about the licensing. I stayed out of the discussion until this statement was made which I felt was discussing me and my removal of the file, and implying that I was "trying to wreck the article". Anyway, as you can see from reading the the thread, things sort of spiraled out of control after that. I made one more reply, but then decided to disengage myself because anymore comments from me were only going to make things worse and turn the page into a battleground. I did open the discussion about File:Angie Watts.jpg at "WP:NFCR", but it wasn't done out of malice, revenge or to bite anyone. I was reading the article, saw the screenshot, checked the rationale and saw that it did not satisfy "WP:NFCC#10c" as well as possibly "WP:NFCC#1", "WP:NFCC#3a" and "WP:NFCC#8". However, instead of simply removing it from the article like I had done before, I thought it would be "less controversial" to discuss it first. So, in addition to posting at "WP:NFCR", I also posted at Talk:Wimbledon Manor House#File:Angie Watts.jpg and User talk:Roganjosh3 to let others know about the discussion. Anyway, that also seems to have spiralled a bit out of control.
So, I have two questions that perhaps you might be able to answer:
- Is removing a non-free image which clearly does not satisfy "WP:NFCC#10c" considered to be "vandalism", especially when done so without consulting anyone (e.g., the person who added the image) in advance?
- What is the best way, in your opinion, to try and resolve my differences with Roganjosh3?
I do not feel I was being uncivil, bullying them or waging war against them, but at the same time I do not want to discourage them from making further contributions to Wikipedia. They now seem to be removing images from "Wimbledon Manor House" at "my behest" simply because I said "There are many articles on Wikipedia, some quite good, which do not use any images at all" and "Personally, I don't think that removing this particular image (if by chance it does not satisfy WP:IUP) will 'wreck the article' and mean that all of the good work you have done on the article to date would have been done in vain." Normally, when I am clearly in the wrong, I simply apologize and strike out the offending comments. I can do that here as well, but it seems like it could actually exacerbate the situation. Thanks in advance - Marchjuly (talk) 02:09, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Marchjuly, I generally try and follow common sense rules in conjunction with NFCC when it comes to fair use, genearlly:
- If an image is missing a rationale, but one could reasonably be written, write it (rather than simply removing the image). This was one of the points of an oppose my Request for Adminship, and it made sense. Sure it's easy to pull the image, but it's better to just do the work and write the rationale.
- Fair use images cannot be used in lists, and infobox collages (generally speaking). In fact most of the time the only place a fair use image can be used is on a page about the subject. For example, File:Nobu McCarthy.jpg can be used on her page, but not on a list of Japanese Canadians.
- Fair use images that depict a living person are generally only used when they are depicting the person in character. For example, the picture of Anita Dobson as Angie Watts can be used to depict her in her in the role of Watts, but not in Anita Dobson's page (or the house).
- As for the rest, the issue I see is you have too many conversations going, in too many places, and they are far too long to comfortably navigate. And they all seem to have blended into one another. I recommend if you are focusing on articles that he has been a contributor to, and you think there are issues, just take it one file at a time. For example, the Watts photo was obviously inappropriate, a clear explanation on the talk page is sufficient (if you think an edit summary won't do). Not sure if I answered your questions or not, I am by no means a fair use expert. --kelapstick(bainuu) 02:35, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking the time to respond. Your point about adding the rationale is noted, but sometimes it's not so clear. I have in the past added or fixed rationales when it seemed obvious, but it just didn't seem so in this particular case. Thanks again. - Marchjuly (talk) 03:12, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- Well, I tried to make amends. My intent was sincere, but as feared I have only seemed to make things worse. However, the rhetoric which has been coming my way since the start is pretty close (if not already well within) WP:NPA territory. Logic says I should just continue to ignore it all, but these are not being made on user talk pages and are starting to get disruptive. - Marchjuly (talk) 07:01, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
Deleted article
Hello can you explain me why did you delete the article? It had so many different new references. Can you please satisfyingly explain me how those games have enough references and the article i created does not have?
- The article in question has been deleted four times now. I deleted it because the previous deletion discussion resulted in a decision to delete, and the article was not sufficiently different to warrant another discussion. Simply throwing links at an article isn't enough. Now you have started nominating other pages for deletion out of spite, simply because you can't have an article, than why should these people have an article. That is blatant disruption, and continuing along that path will see you blocked from editing. --kelapstick(bainuu) 11:48, 11 April 2015 (UTC)
- It had so many new references i believe this decision is unfair and not neutral that is why i want a debate over it. Also the articles i have marked have way way more less references than my article. Please explain me how TribalWars has more references than my article ? OnlineGamesExpert (talk) 12:43, 11 April 2015 (UTC) user:Kelapstick at the very least it should have been debated not speedy deletation.
- So i request Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion so a clearer consensus may be reached. user:Kelapstick OnlineGamesExpert (talk) 12:49, 11 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Kelapstick, after the user left a message on my Talk page, I looked into the user's history and indefinitely blocked him as WP:NOTHERE. I left both a standard block notice and a personalized addition on the user's Talk page. I'm satisfied that the user is not here to benefit the project, but at the same time I recognize that there may be some controversy generated by my block. If you think it was too harsh or precipitous, I'm willing to reconsider. Thanks for your thoughts.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:21, 11 April 2015 (UTC)
- I take no exception to the block Bbb23, I believe a block was inevitable, only a matter of time. Thanks for the notification. --kelapstick(bainuu) 13:49, 11 April 2015 (UTC)
Reverting my sandbox
I agree with your intent, however https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:The_Banner says that contiuening to revert articles might result into an IP ban. --Tripple-ddd (talk) 18:19, 11 April 2015 (UTC)
- Tripple-ddd, I reverted the addition of Fair Use content in userspace. You are not permitted to use fair use images in your userspace. Also you are not permitted to copy within Wikipedia without providing attribution, it looks like you copy/pasted from the Sega article to your sandbox without attribution, which is effectively a copyright violation. I don't know what you are doing with your sandbox, but the way you are doing it isn't permitted. I also had to delete a lot of fair use images that you uploaded for use in your userspace, that is not allowed either. --kelapstick(bainuu) 18:28, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

If you'd be inclined ...
I noticed that you said you'd look into the Trayvon Martin page in regards to the protection. (thank you for that by the way). I wondered if you'd be willing to have a look at the talk page where there is a consensus building discussion going on, and close it whenever you feel it's run its course. RexxS asked that I keep an eye on it, but I'm going out of town for a while shortly, and I have no idea how much online time I'll have. If not, perhaps someone else would (tps). The last time I looked it seemed to be pretty straightforward and conclusive, but that would be the person who closes call. Notifying the Nominator
WE had a chat last week about the Editor of the Week award and whether the nominator should be advised. Thanks, by the way, for congratulating Jweaver. But, as you can see, the nominator did not show up. You would think they would but the majority don't. Ive been facilitating the award from the beginning since 2013. My guess is around 15% of nominators take the time to congratulate once the award is distributed. The remaining 85% don't... for whatever reason. I'm not judging them. I still do believe the use of mass message sender in this case would be inappropriate however (and not needed because of the number of participants), I am sure there are others who would disagree. --kelapstick(bainuu) 01:15, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
DYK for Chimediin Saikhanbileg
On 13 April 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Chimediin Saikhanbileg, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Mongolian Prime Minister Chimediin Saikhanbileg can bench press 175 kilograms (385 lb)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Chimediin Saikhanbileg. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

You protected Josip Broz Tito's article, but now the most POV account user:Tuvixer, involved in edit war versus dozen editors, harass me with a tag, which I remove, and he makes edit war in my talk [5]. - No worries, You used to have a "don't revert personal attacks" message at the top of your talk page, now that it's in the edit notice, so it gets missed when just viewing a diff and reverting. Its kind of a badge of honour actually. If people were not calling you a sack of shit, how would we ever know you are doing your job properly! --kelapstick(bainuu) 22:16, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
Hi, can I interest you and page stalkers in this project? For starting missing articles from other wikis. All about addressing systematic bias. You could use it to list lots of missing Mongolian articles at Wikipedia:WikiProject Intertranswiki/Mongolian, ones which are priority for starting. If so, put your name down on the project talk page and add a tick by your name. Even if not, at some point we'll do some Mongolian stub of the week (see further down project page what I've started) drives and will need your input on what is missing! I'm aware that other wikis like Mongolian the quality isn't always great for translation, but the idea really is to identify notable missing articles and aim to start a lot of them with improved sourcing/content.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:58, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hey thanks for the invite Dr. Blofeld, at this time I am not sure I want to commit to a WikiProject, but when you get to Mongolian, you know you can always drop by here for some help. I don't actually speak/read Mongolian, but in a pinch I can get some quick info/translation. I may be heading back over there in the latter part of the year, so I would be more useful then. I will also keep that link above on my watchlist, so when it is created I can jump in. Cheers, --kelapstick(bainuu) 12:06, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
- OK. Well if you could create me a list of 10-20 odd missing articles related to Mongolian culture that would be great. You're welcome to join in the stub drive the week I list them!♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:12, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
- I will send a message to my man in UB to see what he thinks we might be missing. We have been working on bringing forth a Mongolian edition of Rolling Stone, but I don't think they have published anything yet.--kelapstick(bainuu) 12:15, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

List of Presidents of Croatia
Thanks for the protection on this article. Can you just revert the article to the version before Timbouctou started to edit war. I think it would be wrong to leave his version because the page is protected because of him and his unwillingness to engage in a constructive discussion on the talk page. Please, can you do that? Tnx in advance. :)--Tuvixer (talk) 17:54, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
- It would be inappropriate for me to revert to anyone's preferred version unless there were BLP issues associated with it, which there does not appear to be. Regardless of what version I protected, it would always be the wrong one. --kelapstick(bainuu) 17:59, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
- Why not? Now it is his version, and you have protected the page just because he was breaking the rules and edit-warring. You understand what I am saying, right? He has changed the current version, and has made changes without consensus, and if you read the talk page you will see that even without consensus he will again start to edit war. He has broken the 3RR and I think he should be banned, is that what the Wikipedia rules say, right? It is really hard to edit Wikipedia when you have a user like timbouctou who is reverting almost everything that I edit, you can see on my contributions, he almost always reverts my edits without explanation, calling me most of the times a troll. Is that the way Wikipedia should work? He has been harassing me for quit some time now and I feel awful, it is horrible. I have reported him once for 3RR, and he really did break it, but my report was ignored and he was not sanctioned. Can you sanction him now? Tnx in advance. --Tuvixer (talk) 18:14, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
- Also you can see on the ANI discussion what kind of language and arguments he uses. He calls other users trolls, but actually he is a big troll, and he knows that, but somehow when he breaks the 3RR he gets away with it. That is wrong and he should face the consequences. --Tuvixer (talk) 18:22, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
- The way it works is I review RFPP, protect the page where there is an edit war ongoing. I don't care who is right and who is wrong as long as there is no blatant vandalism or BLP violations involved involved, and I protect the page without passing judgement on who is correct. A protected page is not an endorsement on the current version, it is just meant to stop the disruption. I am not going to be sanctioning anyone, there is an active discussion at ANI, it shall be decided there. --kelapstick(bainuu) 18:23, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
- Ok, I understand the first part. But he has broken the 3RR, how can you say that he will not be sanctioned? It is a objective norm and he has made more than 3 reverts inside a 24 hours period. You can see also that he is insulting other users, and does not engage in a constructive discussion. Should I propose on the ANI that he gets sanctioned because of the 3RR? Tnx. --Tuvixer (talk) 18:28, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
- It would not hurt to mention that he has reverted three times in 24 hours, however since blocks are preventative, not punitive, and the page is protected, a block would not prevent anything, it would only feed the drama. --kelapstick(bainuu) 18:31, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

Someone else has mentioned it in the meanwhile but I will do the same thing. It is preventive because as soon as the protection is over he will do the same thing, you understand, now in three days he will ignore the talk page or just make nonconstructive edits, like he always does, and then, you can say , when the truce is over all out war. You can stop us going in cycle by sanctioning him. What do you say? --Tuvixer (talk) 18:36, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
- There is an active discussion at ANI where this can be done, and imposing sanctions is not my thing. --kelapstick(bainuu) 18:38, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
Ok, tnx again for your replies. You are a good person. I hope this all will be resolved. Tnx again. :) --Tuvixer (talk) 18:43, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

Links normally to be avoided
Hey there,
Appreciate your response. The #10 you note is under "Links normally to be avoided"; not "Links to be avoided". Counter to #2, links to social media platforms DO provide unique resources "beyond what the article would contain if it became a featured article" and given my interpretation of this guideline (not rule, not law) I included social media URL's.
Nothing in Wikipedia is written in stone, it's all up for interpretation and numerous Wiki pages include links to social media and that was the precedent I was using. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikisas (talk • contribs) 01:26, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

RfA query
A belated reply to your query on a now-closed RfA discussion: of course "major" is a subjective judgement, but to me this was a major mistake as it left the searcher with no link to find what is now the secondary topic (Jeremy Lane (writer)). I would expect an admin to follow through the actions entailed by their decision and not leave an unfinished job for others to complete: Noyster (talk), 09:04, 4 July 2015 (UTC)
- We we clearly have a difference of opinion on what a major mishandling entails. It seems to me the threshold of infallibility that an administrative candidate must reach (or appear to reach) is remarkably high these days. Pardon my sarcasm on the latter sentence, it's not directed specifically at you, more of a general observation on the whole RfA process. --kelapstick(bainuu) 15:46, 4 July 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for closing the discussion. Please would you remove the notice on the draft and add the stuff to the draft talk page? Fiddle Faddle 13:15, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
- Done, unfortunately the closing script doesn't do that, as the AfD closing script does. Thanks for the heads up. --kelapstick(bainuu) 13:44, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. Had I known what to do I would have done it. I'd request script improvements if I knew what to request. Fiddle Faddle 13:48, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
- For future references, it's {{old mfd}} to the talk page, and just removing {{mfd}} from the page in question. Pretty easy, I just have to remember to do it. --kelapstick(bainuu) 14:29, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

I had asked about the File:WilliamDickersonDetentionFacility.jpg close at Wikipedia_talk:Files_for_deletion#Botched transfers_to_Commons but haven't heard back. Don't you need to add text to preserve the original attribution at Commons? Because its source now links to a deleted Wikipedia page. – czar 23:45, 29 July 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Czar, it should be OK, since the author listed at Commons is Notorious4life, who was the uploader here. The only thing to change is possibly the source to self made (since that is what we would have to presume it to be). --kelapstick(bainuu) 04:09, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
- But it doesn't preserve any of the attribution details (the upload time, size, etc.). It makes the Commons upload unverifiable. is there really no bot or tool that does ex post facto what the Commons uploader normally does? – czar 04:11, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
- Happened upon toollabs:magog/fileinfo.php, which is the tool to use. Also I should note that WP:F8 says that more of the licensing details should be moved than the uploader/date. In this case the Commons upload date was wrong! I tested the tool on the above image and updated the Commons version. Take care, – czar 06:39, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
- Well, if there is any more information that you want from the deleted version so you can copy it over, let me know. Having said that the information on the Wikipedia page was minimal at best.--kelapstick(bainuu) 12:02, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
- I already undeleted and re-deleted the image on enwp and updated the Commons version: [10] All's good – czar 16:24, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
- Excellent, thanks for the info. --kelapstick(bainuu) 17:16, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

2017–18 UEFA Champions League
Hi, I was checking out 2017–18 UEFA Champions League as I was considering creating it, when I saw that you deleted it only a few days ago. May I ask if you could give me a more motivated reason why? I have worked on the 2017–18 UEFA Champions League as well as 2017–18 UEFA Europa League at two of my sandboxes (CL sandbox and EL Sandbox) so that they can be properly created when it is the right time. In this discussion at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football at the end of June it was decided that it is boarderline to soon but that there are significant coverage and if I would create it, it should not be removed. For example, some of the nations copefficients has already been set so we know what rounds of the qualification they will enter, and it is a part of the current UEFA rule-period.
Would you oppose me creating these articles if I wait one or two more weeks? This way they will be properly created by someone that regurlarly updated these articles. Qed237 (talk) 15:52, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Qed237, Primarily it was deleted as a copyright violation (copy/paste within wikipedia without proper attribution is a still a copyright violation). The page was a direct copy/paste from a previous season. Since the page didn't really give any information beyond what would be presented in the 2016-17 page, there was no reason to attribute it via talk page, especially since it's not happening for another 1.5-2 years. I am not opposed to you creating them (today if you are so inclined). --kelapstick(bainuu) 16:13, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
- The content in my sandboxes are a little bit copy and paste as well, it is the same tournament with the exact same structure and rules from previous season so a bit copying is natural. You can take a look at my sandboxes if you want to see if it is to much copy and paste (note that all content will not be in article directly, we dont know all nations yet). When copying within wikipedia (from one season to the next) is there something special to do like adding a template or some information on the article talkpage? About the time of creation I can wait, because on thursday next week more nations will he been eliminated from this season, setting their coefficients. This of course with risk of more "bad creations" during the time I wait. Qed237 (talk) 16:26, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
- You can just use the {{copied}} template on the talk page, as I mentioned, it doesn't bother me if you create it now. --kelapstick(bainuu) 16:58, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
- There is also WP:TOOSOON to consider, too. It can't be sourced with reliable sources - since they don't exist - yet, if you understand the logic... Hafspajen (talk) 12:56, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
- Of course there is TOOSOON, however if the event is going to take place, and we will have an article about it anyway, and it can be sourced, than I don't see reason to delete. If it can't be sourced, well, what you said Haffy. --kelapstick(bainuu) 13:02, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
- This is why I avoid soccer articles :) --kelapstick(bainuu) 13:02, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
- MMmmm. I would keep them in a sandbox until is time for it, thoug. Hafspajen (talk) 13:05, 1 August 2015 (UTC)
