Woah slow down!
[edit]You might want to look at this webpage [1]. It is the current mileage log for Kentucky. It is far superior to the broken link you are using from 2007. As mentioned before, you may also want to read WP:USRD/NEW, or you can just as me any questions you may have here or on my talk page. –Fredddie™ 03:44, 21 September 2014 (UTC)
- Can you start changing some editing practices with your writing so that others do not have to clean up after you create an article? Specifically:
- Please add "(KY #)" after the "Kentucky Route #" at the start of the first sentence. We need to include the abbreviation like this, and the parentheses around it are not put in boldface.
- On the first mention of any U.S. Route, spell the name out in full and follow with "(US #)" after it. Then you can abbreviation every other U.S. Route. The same goes for Interstates: full name with abbreviation on first mention and abbreviated only on subsequent mentions.
- When linking to U.S. Routes, please link to "U.S. Route X in Kentucky"; even if that article doesn't exist yet, it will either exist someday, or the link will redirect to the appropriate section of another article. The same goes for Interstates.
- Also, don't make up names or abbreviations like "Kentucky State Highway X" or "Ky. Rte. X". Use a single naming convention and abbreviation style for consistency.
- It reads better to use "north–south" and "east–west", even if we write in south-to-north or west-to-east order. Except for one-way roads, it really wouldn't matter which way we write, but we've standardized on those directions for consistency.
- You should give the length of the highway in the lead.
- The "d" in "Route description" is never capitalized. Per MOS:HEAD, our headings are written in sentence case, not title case, which means only the first word and any proper nouns are capitalized, just like in a regular sentence.
- Since you should have added the abbreviation for a Kentucky route at in the first sentence (see my first bullet point), you can abbreviate every Kentucky route in the body of the article using "KY #"
- Where necessary, you should link to concurrency (road) (or its redirect/alternate, overlap (road), and you need to avoid using expressions like "multiplex".
- For something like "It then heads for its first junction with Kentucky Route 728, and gets co-signed with that route for 1.902 miles" in Kentucky Route 1827, you can write "It then heads for its first junction with KY 728, and gets runs concurrently with that route for about two miles (3.2 km)."
- As you might have noticed, I rounded off the measurement in the example above. Such precision is unnecessary in running prose, and frankly, the only place you'd really need to give such a precise length is the total length of the highway in the lead. Also, you need to give metric conversions for standard American measurements. Not all of our readers are Americans.
- Dates should be in "Month DD, YYYY" format because these are articles about highways in the US. If you were writing about highways in other countries, then you should use the "DD Month YYYY" format. Match the format to the predominant style in that country. There is an exception for articles about the US military, but that doesn't apply here.
- Items linked in the "See also" section should not already be linked elsewhere in the article, per MOS:LAYOUT. That section is a good place to link to Portal:Kentucky and Portal:U.S. Roads. You should use portal-inline to make those links.
- You should double check to see if citations are broken before saving. If you insert a line break (return) in the middle of the value for a parameter in a citation template, it will break the template. For example, on Kentucky Route 357, you have:
- Please add "(KY #)" after the "Kentucky Route #" at the start of the first sentence. We need to include the abbreviation like this, and the parentheses around it are not put in boldface.

The line breaks in the middle of "Commonwealth of Kentucky" and "26 December 2012" break the template.
- Also, you need to be changing the accessdates. That should be the date you verified the information being cited in the article. You should not just be blindly copying citations (or the whole infobox) from one article to another without completely updating them.
- I hope you can apply these minor changes so that other editors do not have to clean up errors and issues. Just about every time I see your user name on User:AlexNewArtBot/USRoadsSearchResult, I know that the article will need some formatting changes. I follow that report daily to find new articles that need to be tagged for the project (take a look at Talk:Kentucky Route 1827 for what we mean by tagging an article. That banner on the talk page helps us track the existence, quality, importance, and needs of an article. Imzadi 1979 → 05:35, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
- Some other quick comments:
- We don't list alternate names in the infobox unless each one applies to the full length of the highway.
- Please don't use the future tense in writing the route description sections. "KY 2195 enters southern Hart County, where it would intersect KY 1141..." can be "KY 2195 enters southern Hart County, where it intersects KY 1141..." and it reads much better.
- The first mention of a city gets linked, not the second. Per WP:OVERLINK, we don't relink items. There are a few exceptions for linking in the lead and then relinking in the body, or relinking from major section to major section on longer articles, but those exceptions would not apply because your articles are too short.
- per MOS:CONVERSIONS, we need to include the metric value of measurements. This can be done with convert.
- If you need to make the measurement an adjective (i.e., 12.34-mile-long) then add
|adj=mid
followed by|-long
or just use|adj=on
to get something like 12.34-mile - If a length is rounded to an even mile, and the value is under 10, you can add
|spell=in
to spell the input value, five miles (8.0 km) .
- If you need to make the measurement an adjective (i.e., 12.34-mile-long) then add
- You should be adding Category:State highways in Kentucky to the article. Categories can take a sort key, and for that category, you should add
|XXXX
afterKentucky
and before the]]
. For the XXXX, use a four-digit number, adding leading zeroes as necesary. So KY 90 gets "0090", KY 369 gets "069", and KY 1307 gets "1307". - Also, avoid using left or right, and instead use cardinal directions like north or south to describe direction changes on a highway's routing. Imzadi 1979 → 03:21, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
- And another thing, you can't cite other Wikipedia articles as a source in one you're writing or editing. If you verify a source used in another article, you can copy that citation across. In other words, you can't cite " List of state routes in Tennessee - Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia" for the length of a highway in Tennessee. Imzadi 1979 → 04:11, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
- The counties list in the infobox should be in geographical, not alphabetical, order. Imzadi 1979 → 04:45, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
Your experience with Wikipedia so far
[edit]Hello K-Johnson 127,
I am conducting research about newcomers to Wikipedia and I was hoping to ask you some questions. I’ve noticed you’ve had some good activity recently. Is there any chance you have time in the next month to speak with me? If you are interested or have any questions, please email me at gmugar [at] syr.edu or leave a message on my talk page.
I hope to be in touch soon,

Hello, K-Johnson 127,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether WCTZ-LD should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/WCTZ-LD .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
Thanks, Deunanknute (talk) 02:54, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Citing the official Kentucky maps
[edit]I just created cite KYTC map to simplify citing the official maps. One big improvement is that it will properly cite the correct agency name (it's only been the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet since 1982) and supply full citation information, like map scales. In the future, if scales are found through library catalog records, they can be added to the template and every article will update automatically. Something similar happened after I poured through the library records for Michigan's older highway maps. Imzadi 1979 → 21:41, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
Thank you!
[edit]Hey, there! I just wanted to say thank you for creating Tennessee State Route 85!! It has been in my list of articles to create for a long time. Thank you! --ACase0000 (talk) 17:51, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
Fixing heading
[edit]Per MOS:HEAD, the title of an article should not be repeated in the headings used within it unless necessary. That's why on Kentucky Route 80, I changed those headings to "<location> <type> route".
Another quick related item, but we should not be using "bannered route" for article titles or headings. I know it's out there in use, but it's really a roadgeek neologism that should be avoided. "Special routes" or "Related routes" makes a much better choice. You can even use "Business routes" if they're all classified that way, simplifying the subheaders to just the locations. A polite request
[edit]Can you please do the following when creating articles, so that other editors don't have to follow behind you to clean them up?
- We don't list alternate road names in the infobox unless they apply to the entire highway. If one half of a highway has one name, and the other half has a different name, neither name is listed in the infobox.
- According to MOS:HEAD, headings are written in sentence case. That means we use "Route description" (lowercase "d") and not "Route Description".
- We should link to the most specific topic and avoid placing links side by side. In other words, the region within the state is the more valuable link, and we should not pipe the link like you do just to allow the article to link to the state name.
South Central Kentucky
should instead be justSouth Central Kentucky
. - When citing maps, and when you're using other templates from the Help:Citation Style 1 family, like cite web, you should use cite map instead of manually coding the citation. This solves inconsistency issues, like a capital letter on the word "page" when the templates use the standard abbreviation "p."
- If the maps are contained within an atlas, you should supply the name of the map in
|title=
, and we should always supply the map's scale, or if the scale isn't noted, then|scale=Scale not given
. - We don't insert spaces before a footnote nor between them.
- The stub template, if appropriate, goes after the categories so that the categories it generates come last. This puts the emphasis on the other categories by listing them first.
- As topics connected to the United States, we use the American style of date formats per MOS:DATE. This means Month DD, YYYY, dates, not DD Month YYYY.
- When using the jct template in an infobox, we don't use
|city1=
to generate the link. That parameter is reserved for destination cities in junction lists, not the location of a junction.
If you have questions, please reply. We're a collaborative project here, and you'll find that many of us want to work together, but communication needs to be a two-way street. Other editors will come to you to help you improve your editing, but also to decrease the workload applied to others to end up with a high-quality and consistent finished product. Imzadi 1979 → 05:19, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

The article Green River Ferry Road has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Tagged for notability since 2015. I just can't see a way this gets past WP:GEOROAD. It's a small visitor use road in a national park. All of the sources are either maps or don't directly address this road itself. Other sources I can find are generally only passing mentions, either stating that the road has been closed, or in the context of how you get to Green River Ferry. The ferry itself may be notable, but this isn't a notable road.

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from 1972 in television into 1972 in American television. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from page name; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted copied template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 01:02, 19 August 2021 (UTC)
