Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Paleotempestology you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. (Almost) seven year old vandalism
Added in this edit, removed almost seven years later. I take that Commons currently doesn't have a counterpart to ClueBot NG; as it was some pretty obvious vandalism. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 20:55, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

Requesting undeleting of page named "Shweta Shalini"
Hi Sir,
I am New to Wikipedia. Have created 2 pages and edited one other page till date.
One of the page "Shweta Shalini" is deleted by you after talk discussion. Didn't know where the option to talk is. So timeframe of 7 days missed.
Reply to talk discussion made by those people to request for deletion are hereby.
Bearian said she isn't member of a major party nor major member. She is Advisor to Chief Minister of Maharashtra. State of Maharashtra is second biggest state in India and Chief Minister is most powerful position. Party is BJP which is biggest party in India. Prime Minister Modi is also from BJP.
Harshil169 said that she isn't notable. She was awarded Rashtriya Gaurav Puraskar (Indian Honour Award) by Governors of 2 States in India [1]
Another reference to same [2] This newspaper Dainik Bhaskar is biggest newspaper in INDIA and this news appeared in that.[3]
Same news link in English also here [4]
Random newslinks more
Further, she is Spokesperson of BJP which is naturally noteworthy. Her responsibility is to come on media channels to speak her party's official position. She has come in all major English Hindi and Marathi language news channels in India as well as newswires. A simple Google News search will show hundreds of link.
Sir, requesting to reinstate the Shweta Shalini page.

- Greetings, Praveen u menon. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about Indian media to judge whether they are reliable or not for this. Perhaps using the WP:AFC process is a better move. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 20:33, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
- Praveen u menon, please explain if you are in anyway related to Mrs Shalini or to BJP. BJP spokesperson is not a notable post. If she becomes a president of BJP India then she will get her article. Or else she has to win an election or get padma vibhushan or higher awards. This award does not merit a Wikipedia article. You will have to wait till she wins an election to start an article about her. DBigXrayᗙ 21:10, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
Eumerus Sir, Can I get the deleted data to initiate creating the article ? As far as election is concerned as per DbigXray, I didn't find Wikipedia guideline stating election is notability. Notability is written as noteworthiness in independent sources. There are people who won elections who aren't noteworthy as nobody covered their work. There are people who didn't stand for election who are very noteworthy like Balasaheb Thackeray -most controversial politician.
Can you help with getting the content back ? I don't know which option to use. Earlier also one of my article about an NGO got deleted.
Praveen u menon (talk) 07:58, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
- Praveen u menon, WP:NPOL is the guideline that explicitly says that you need to win elections. Thackeray was notable for being Shiv Sena (a major political party) president. Which major party does Mrs Shalini lead ? and please explain if you are in anyway related to Mrs Shalini or to BJP ? --DBigXrayᗙ 09:13, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
- Praveen u menon I've userfied it to User:Praveen u menon/Shweta Shalini. Please don't simply copy it back to mainspace w/o running it through WP:AFC first. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 09:01, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

Thank you Eumerus Sir for giving back data. Will do as you asked and will run it through APC in that link. Praveen u menon (talk) 09:39, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
I think I would rather quit this idea of Wikipedia article. Never created any article successfully. Got this Shweta Shalini page deleted which was pre-existent. Besides, someone more experienced and with knowledge of editing wikipedia seems determined to never let the page remain. Don't see reason to waste time to get it deleted again. Thanks for giving back the content though.

- Praveen u menon. I see. The problem is that page creation on Wikipedia is one of the harder parts of contributing. Doubly so when it's a biography of a living person (or BLP as we say in our Super Secret Don't Tell Anyone About This Code Language). Triply so when it's a political biography. I'd probably suggest that you work with our pages on bacteria and the like first. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 21:03, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

Race and Intelligence AFD/DRV et cetera - centralized discussion
AfD - Race and Intelligence
Hi Jo-Jo, thanks so much for considering a team close on the above AfD. As you probably saw, another admin closed it anyway. The rationale was short and unsurprisingly this went straight to DRV here.[3] I think, as you had already done the work to read through this, your input there would be valuable. Barkeep49 (talk · contribs) had also read through the whole thread according to his AN post, so should also be aware. Thanks for taking the time on this (and whichever way you go on the argument, I remain grateful to you both for being willing to consider a team close). -- Sirfurboy (talk) 08:22, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
- Greetings. Aye, I've seen that on my phone and will be penning up a comment there shortly. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 13:57, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
- Hey Jo. I think it would be better if you got someone else to close the AfD and write up the reasons. Your write up was not very good and hard to follow. Peregrine Fisher (talk) 02:13, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
@Barkeep49: If this ends up going the triumvirate route and you need another admin, I'm available. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:43, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
- RoySmith, I saw that thanks. The way the DRV is going it's not clear to me what the consensus will end up being - I could see no consensus, overturn to no consensus, or overturn to panel close. If this last outcome seemed more likely I'd suggest we think about beginning work now, especially given the starting point Jo-Jo created because I don't think it's to anyone's benefit that this stretch out any longer than necessary. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 17:57, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
- Barkeep49, I've not been following the DRV or AfD in detail, to avoid forming any preconceptions. The only thing I've figured out so far is that we should steer clear of ephemera like judging the actions of anybody involved in the previous close and stick to closing this purely on the arguments presented in the AfD. And, yeah, I agree that we should hold off doing anything until the DRV is over to see if we're actually needed. -- RoySmith (talk) 19:00, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Barkeep49 and RoySmith:Yeah, probably best to wait until we know whether we are actually needed. Also, if we go with the close I posted on the talk page it might be warranted to rewrite the run-on sentences; I've noticed that I write a lot of them in closing statements when I am summarizing arguments. Contra Peregrine Fisher however I don't think that it can be made much shorter; a close of such a complex discussion on such a topic will need to be long and detailed regardless of the eventual outcome. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 19:47, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

Are you anti right wing?
I did a google search for your name and people are saying you anti intelligent design. Peregrine Fisher (talk) 00:56, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
- Forget what I just said, unless you want to answer it. I guess I would like to ask you if you feel impartial about the Race and Intelligence subject? Like, does the subject matter has absolutely no bearing on how you would judge the arguments in favor of deletion and keeption. Peregrine Fisher (talk) 04:06, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
- I believe the ID thing is about Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Günter Bechly ... clearly if an admin closes that AFD as "delete" that is proof they are biased rather than proof that the discussion had a delete consensus. I believe Fundamental attribution error is the article that describes this fallacy.
Regarding the race and intelligence topic, I promise that the subject matter does not influence how I'll judge the outcome. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 09:49, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
- I literally think that one should just believe what the other says. But the arguments seemed to me to be 100 percent no policy/guideline to delete. Finally I imagine you are an intelligent person since you're an admin. I can't square the circle. Thanks for the response, though! Peregrine Fisher (talk) 09:56, 14 February 2020 (UTC)

AfD Shahra Razavi (coding issue)
Hi - just a small heads up regarding the closure of Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Shahra_Razavi. It seems one of the closure template substitutions created a conflict with the references added by user Omotecho. If you convert the three <ref group=※> to <ref> and convert {{Reflist|group=※}} to {{Reflist talk}} this should resolve the problem. I didn't do this myself because ... well, there are those big red letters and I wasn't feeling very bold. :) Regards and thanks for your work. --Goldsztajn (talk) 12:56, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

- I did a practice edit with my suggestions and it cleans up the problem... my suspicion is the conflict is to do with the Reflist template, but beyond that is above my pay grade. If you're fine with it, I'll make the change.--Goldsztajn (talk) 17:28, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

Tristis
Thank you for preserving the Talk Page of tristis. I was told of a possible target for tristis after Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tristis (2nd nomination), in which you were closing admin, had been open for a day or two; and decided that diverting that debate from deletion to retargetting would Not Really Be A Good Idea. Could I ask you to recreate tristis with #REDIRECT[[List of Latin and Greek words commonly used in systematic names#tristis]] {{R to list entry}}, please? IMO that will be the best general solution to any problem of this sort: it takes very little work to add a couple of representative articles to that List page, and readers will be pointed to encyclopaedic information. (I approve of the WP:PP: this is just the sort of article which does not need to be enthusiastically recreated.) Narky Blert (talk) 20:23, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
- P.S. I was nom in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tristis (2nd nomination).
- I dislike soft redirects on principle; except for occasional inline ones to Wiktionary to explain an irreplaceable difficult word in context without breaking the flow for readers. On the whole, bluelinks which land readers in another WikiMedia project are WP:EASTEREGGs, and tend to disguise the fact that an article may be missing. Narky Blert (talk) 20:42, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
- Hrm. That seems like a reasonable case; I've put it in and reprotected it. I think perhaps pinging the other participants to see if any has an objection to this course of action might be a good idea, though. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 21:29, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

Problems
- Readers who were not logged in briefly saw the interface in a language decided by their browser. It should normally be in the language of the wiki. This happened for a short period of time last week. This was because of a bug. [4]
Changes later this week
- If you forget your password you can ask for a new one to be sent to your email address. You need to know your email address or your username. You will now be able to choose that you need to enter both your email address and your username. This will be a preference. This is to get fewer password reset emails someone else asked for. [5]
- When you asked for a new password you could see if the username didn't exist on Special:PasswordReset. Now the page will show the username you entered and tell you an email has been sent if the username exists. This is for better security. [6]
- On Special:WhatLinksHere you can see what other pages link to a page. You can see if the link is from a redirect. You can now see which section the redirect links to. [7]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 3 March. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 4 March. It will be on all wikis from 5 March (calendar).
Future changes
- The developers are working on a new interface to solve edit conflicts on talk pages. You can give feedback. [8]
- There is a vote on the creation of a new user group called abuse filter manager. The vote runs from March 1 to March 31 on Meta.
-
wgMFSpecialCaseMainPage
was used for the mobile site. It was deprecated in 2017. It will stop working in April. Wikis should see if they use it. If they do they should fix it. You can read more and ask for help. This affects 183 wikis. There is a list. [9]

Requesting re-instatement of page
Eumerus Sir, last week you were kind enough to give me back the data on the page "Shweta Shalini" who is a BJP political party leader (page was not created by me but edited by me).
You had deleted because of comments from DBigXray and I was unable to counter his arguments within alloted 7 days as I didn't know where the option to do so was. I am new to Wikipedia.
I wish to share some information about the said editor in this link. Being a Wikipedia expert yourself, you can yourself check veracity of claims made in this article. Clarification: I just saw this article just now and I am not related to this website in any manner.
That person who got my page down has a history of editing biased articles and he did that again on subject of religious riots in India when Donald Trump was in India. I don't know whether the said Wikipedia editor is caught or not and whether he is in prison now.
BUT CAN YOU CHECK CLAIMS MADE IN THAT NEWS (IN WIKIPEDIA EDIT HISTORY) AND BAN THAT EDITOR AND ALSO GIVE BACK MY ARTICLE INTO MAINSPACE.
Please note that he has also deleted the page of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha which is youth wing of the current ruling party in India (How can that not be notable enough).
Kindly transfer the page into mainspace Sir.
Praveen u menon (talk) 17:42, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
The page "Shweta Shalini" is already referenced with so many links. That alone qualifies to be notable. The quality or writing style maybe bad. But please reinstate that page so that I can improve.
Praveen u menon (talk) 17:56, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
- Greetings, Praveen u menon. It seems like the userfied copy hasn't been substanticaly altered since the AFD closed and thus the concerns that led to its initial deletion have not really been addressed. From perlustrating the sources I get the impression that many of these are just mere mentions (a concern also pointed out at AFC). I don't know how reliable Opindia is but I think you are better off asking at WP:AFC. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 18:23, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
Eumerus Sir, I didn't edit anything from the data pasted. But the objection was that person wasn't elected representative. The 2nd point in that link itself mentioned if notability criteria was done, it stands.
Also three English websites where the main subject itself.[1] [2] [3]
These 3 mentions in detail including giving biographical details of the leader. All 3 are PAN-India. Republicworld is considered No. 1 English channel in India.
There are many in Hindi (National language of India) and Marathi language which I am not quoting here.
I didn't edit in userfyd data because I didn't know wikipedia policy well enough to risk it.

I closed your RfB as unsuccessful
I think you deserve a lot of credit for standing, and should be pleased with the amount of support you received, given the way the community feels about RfB. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite enough. --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 10:03, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for volunteering, sorry it didn't work out. Best regards, — xaosflux Talk 13:10, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Jo-Jo. Although I did not participate in your RfB, I wanted to drop in and share my good wishes to you for trying. Hopefully, you have taken this in the stride. An RfB is also almost like an RfA. I got smashed by the community in my first RfA (of course, due to my own undoing) so know how it may feel. But your RfB was mostly in the positive, and I expected a crat chat. Nevertheless, my wishes for you. See you around. Lourdes 03:57, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
- I am sure that this is a disappointment but please don't let it discourage you in any way or even consider it a permanent decision. As Dweller noted in his closing, you did get a good amount of support (enough to pass if it were an RFA). Keep up the good work! Best wishes. Donner60 (talk) 04:36, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry to see this. I hope all is well otherwise. Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 13:29, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
- Second-try bureaucrats are cooler anyway. Thanks for your offer to serve. –xenotalk 14:24, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comments. I'll be less active, less because of the RfB and more because of the 2019–20 coronavirus outbreak and because I am trying to figure out Signal processing (seriously, the university's homeworks sound borderline uncalculable). Perhaps I might try again in the future, though - will need to work on the marginal AFD and DRV close skills, though. JoJo Eumerus mobile (main talk) 21:55, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
DYK for Hebrides Terrace Seamount
On 9 March 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Hebrides Terrace Seamount, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Hebrides Terrace Seamount, west-southwest of the Scottish Hebrides, hosts "coral gardens" where numerous other animals live? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Hebrides Terrace Seamount. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Hebrides Terrace Seamount), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi Jo-Jo Eumerus. Was wondering if you have a suggestions regarding this. The FFD close was a “no consensus” with respect to the file’s “other use” (i.e. the individual season article). Does this mean a new FFD discussion needs to take place each time the file is added to a new season article? There does appear to be a long-standing consensus regarding mascot logos such as this against repeatedly using them in individual season articles that goes way back to the early days of the NFCC that has been applied in other NFCR and FFD discussions over the years. Sometimes a logo specific to a particular season (e.g. a commemorative/anniversary logo) or maybe the first season when a team’s branding may have changed is OK, but simple repeated usage seems to be considered a NFCC#3a, etc. issue.
I’m not criticizing your close just for reference; just want to know how to try and sort this out (or whether it even needs sorting out). The consensus could be read as “no consensus” for only the season article discussed at FFD, but it might also be read as “no consensus” for any individual season article or any other use not specifically mentioned in the FFD. At the time, there weren’t any others, but moving forward more are likely to be created. The file might also be added to other types of articles as an “other use”. — Marchjuly (talk) 22:44, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- Greetings, Marchjuly. I think that what might be needed is to tweak UUI#14 to account for this long-standing consensus; I certainly have seen lots of FFDs ruling against repeatedly using the same logo but wasn't sure that it did extend to this particular situation. Regarding additional uses of other files, I think that additional FFDs would be needed. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 07:29, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
- Understand, and perhaps it's time to revist UUI#14 and UUI#17 with respect to this type of non-free file use. Thanks for taking a look. -- Marchjuly (talk) 08:19, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
UserUsur
Your closure at Wikipedia:Templates_for_discussion/Log/2020 February 13#Template:UserUsur was in error. The reason "replacement wasn't specified" was because each instance of the template, which referred to a new user identity, should have been replaced with a redirect to the new user page, not by another template. The single "Substitute and delete per nom." vote was invalid, because I - as the nominator - did not in any way suggest or support substitution. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 01:36, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
- Oy. @Pigsonthewing: I see the problem ... but it's going to be hard to repair. Primefac, do you have an idea on how to mend this error? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 11:27, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
- All done. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:43, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
- Just as a procedural comment re: the "invalid" vote - editors are welcome to suggest alternate end-cases for nominations; the nominator does not get to dictate the end result and essentially ask for a yes/no on their idea(s). Primefac (talk) 14:35, 7 March 2020 (UTC) Also, glad to see it got resolved, sorry I didn't see it earlier but I was sleeping.
- True, but "replace and delete per nom" and "Not sure how we'd replace that, per Tom (LT), but I'd support that, too." to me sound like they endorse the specific course of action proposed by the nominator. I've thusly amended the close. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:06, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
- And in this case, the nominator has not done so. HTH. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 14:58, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Protection of Tristis
Hi, would you mind removing the full protection of Tristis? It seems a bit excessive given the absence of a history of disruptive editing, and if the aim is to prevent people from recreating it while unaware of the AfD, then maybe an editnotice would be a better solution (but even then I'd be weary of creating one unless people actually recreate the article). On the other hand, there's a number of situations where people might want to make constructive edits to the page now: retargeting, refining rcats, re-nominating for deletion, etc. – Uanfala (talk) 12:17, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
- I've unprotected it. Given how much disagreement there is on what to do with that page (beyond the consensus that a dedicated list page is inappropriate) I think it's best to let the normal editing and consensus processes work out. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 20:18, 13 March 2020 (UTC)

Hi there - you deleted the file but appear to have forgotten to close the FfD discussion... GiantSnowman 11:30, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
- Greetings, GiantSnowman. That's a deliberate thing - at FFD a bot takes care of closing discussions when an admin has deleted the file. Manual closes are only necessary when it's not a delete close or when you want to provide a closing statement. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 11:35, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
- Many thanks for clarifying. GiantSnowman 12:10, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
